Samael - A Demon Lord from another world.

Infernal Halberd, Lust of the Abyss

Intro[]

I am Samael, erstwhile Demon Lord of the Underworld and Ruler of the Ring of Desire.

This is the fifth day since I came to this world.

I have come to this world in order to reclaim my glory and my former position. However, since arriving in this world, I have been stuck in these dense woods. I originally thought that my charm would get me out of these woods with ease; it's just a pity that these wild beasts, with their fangs and their claws, are unable to appreciate the beauty of desire. Satiating my hunger is their only value. To think... My former self could touch the sky with a mere flap of his wings; he could rain hellfire down upon these woods and burn them to the ground. Now, the best I can manage is to run around in circles. There's nothing I can do. I have to play the long game, and wait...

Day six. I have finally been found. In turn, I have found signs of desire. It was left here by a man of great physical stature. I could sense the longing in his heart, and the bountiful, delectable power in his body. I left some tracks behind. Hopefully, you and I will have the chance to satisfy our deepest desires.

Day seven. The chance has come...

  • Mike: Huh?! He's 35?!
Mike's Intimacy reaches Lv.2 to unlock
  • Billy: Samael may be powerful, but he's also kind to the captain. That said... I think he must have been some sort of nobleman in the world he came from, because he speaks with a kind of contempt, and always seems ill at ease.
Billy's Intimacy reaches Lv.4 to unlock
  • Miles: The first time I saw Samael, I thought he was a Shadow. To my surprise, he spread his flaming wings and torched the Shadows that surrounded us to a crisp. For a moment, I had half a mind to put down my weapon and go apply myself to the study of Arcana...
Miles's Intimacy reaches Lv.6 to unlock
  • Adonis: So his name is Samael, huh? On the surface, it is clear that he has come to Luxium dogged by a past full of regret. He bears great shame upon his shoulders, and is hiding something. I can see beneath his obsession that he thirsts for a heart brimming with love.
Adonis's Intimacy reaches Lv.8 to unlock
  • Star Woods Shadowhunter: This man... I feel like I've seen him in a dream...
  • Never Isle Priest: Samael's appearance is...different. I note that some of the members of our church feel very strongly about him. I only hope that us Kaists will not forget the original intention behind Never Isle, and that they will not forget Ka's preachings of love and tolerance.
  • Never Isle Young Man: Hey, I've got Samael's new book! I'll sell you an advance copy for 20,000 Gold!

Scripts[]

Consolation Letter[]

It is I, Samael.

I thought that with my body and power, I would fit in here in this world. However, the Shadowhunters have treated me as though I am a Shadow, the White Capes have called me a monster, and Never Isle does not seem to like me. Except for you, most of what I receive from others is hostility. You are willing to call me your 'friend', but I do not believe that I have earned that title. Allow me to incinerate more Shadows and White Capes.

There is much we must do in this world. You have helped me, and so I will do my best to help you in turn.

Bath Drama[]

  • This water isn't hot enough...
  • Stop staring at my waist. You don't want to get distracted~
  • Oh? You want to have some fun together?

Fave Hottie Slogan[]

Give me your support and your praise, and I will give you supreme pleasure.

Flames in the Forest

-Part 1
...
...
???: My lord, the space-time passageway is about to open.
??????: Good.
???: Must you travel to that world, my lord?
???: We know nothing about it. No one knows what you will encounter there.
??????: The strength that I require is there...
???: But ever since the accident, your strength isn't what it used to be.
??????: Because of my weakness, I failed my father.
??????: (angry)
??????: Whatever challenges await me there...
??????: I must go to that world...
??????: Only then, will I...
??????: Have a chance...
In the eastern part of Luxium.
Deep in the Star Woods.
A flash appears in the middle of the forest
Once it subsides, a devilish looking man with wings and a fiery trident appears
??????: Phew... Finally...
??????: Unknown world, grant me...
??????: The power of your desire!
Several days later.
Deep in the Star Woods.
Three boars search the forest floor for food when one of the boars notices danger
Boar: Ngh?
Suddenly, flames engulf the boars, roasting them to death
??????: ...
??????: ...
??????: *Sigh*...
??????: At least these boars taste good...
Meanwhile...
Three Shadowhunters patrol the Star Woods
Shadowhunter Patrol A: Wait!
Shadowhunter Patrol A: I heard something over there!
Shadowhunter Patrol B: Oh!
Shadowhunter Patrol A: It could be the enemy.
Shadowhunter Patrol A: Advance carefully!
Back at the boar roast, the devilish looking man eats while complaining about his situation
??????: This forest is a labyrinth, if there ever was one!
??????: Even if I have only 30% of my previous strength, this forest should be no match for me!
??????: However, I am a foreigner in this world. The composition of its energy is suppressing my strength...
??????: I'm stuck here. How can I go about...
??????: Reclaiming my former glory?
??????: !!
The devilish looking man turns around just as the Shadowhunter patrol enters
Shadowhunter Patrol A: Whoa!!
??????: (surprised)
??????: A native...
???????: Finally...
Shadowhunter Patrol B: What's going on here?
??????: Mortals! I mean - denizens of this place!
??????: Could you show me the way out of this forest?
Shadowhunter Patrol A: Stay alert, everyone!
Shadowhunter Patrol C: There's something wrong with this man's power.
Shadowhunter Patrol C: To say nothing of the way he looks!
Shadowhunter Patrol A: It's a Shadow!
Shadowhunter Patrol A: Draw your blades, Shadowhunters!
??????: Do not be alarmed, I mean you no harm.
Shadowhunter Patrol A: You, inform HQ that we've encountered a Shadow.
Shadowhunter Patrol A: And request reinforcements!
Shadowhunter Patrol B: Yes, sir!
??????: ...
One of the Shadowhunters turns around but then pauses
??????: (concentrating)
Shadowhunter Patrol C: We'll hold him here. Move!
The Shadowhunter seems distracted
Shadowhunter Patrol C: What are you staring at?
The Shadowhunter turns back around and the two lock eyes
Shadowhunter Patrol A: Move!
Shadowhunter Patrol B: Oh...
Shadowhunter Patrol C: You. You're...
Shadowhunter Patrol A: You're not wearing any armor. What are you doing here?
Shadowhunter Patrol B: Huff, puff...
Shadowhunter Patrol C: Ugh... C-captain... You... I'm so...
Shadowhunter Patrol A: Don't tell me you're also...
Shadowhunter Patrol A: Ugh... I feel so hot...
??????: (concentrating)
??????: (smiles)
Two weeks later, in the Star Woods.
At the Shadowhunter base near the Forest Nexus.
Player speaks with the Shadowhunter Captain
Player: Some Shadowhunter Warriors are missing?
Player: There are enemies lurking in the Star Woods! But the Star Woods are massive, and there are many places they could be hiding...
Player: When something like this happens, it's a good idea to ask the Shadowhunters in Westhold for assistance, right?
Shadowhunter Captain: Right after they disappeared, we reported it to the higher-ups in the Shadowhunters organization, asking for their help with the investigation.
Shadowhunter Captain: But the warriors returned to camp later that day.
Player: Huh? They returned to camp?
Shadowhunter Captain: Naturally, we interrogated the warriors who had disappeared.
Shadowhunter Captain: But they don't have any memory of what happened while they were missing.
Shadowhunter Captain: Since no one was killed, the higher-ups only sent over a couple of squads to beef up our patrols.
Player: Hmm...
Player: Was there anything off about the missing warriors when they came back?
Shadowhunter Captain: In the interests of safety, we will conduct a thorough investigation of all the missing warriors who returned.
Shadowhunter Captain: They are uninjured and don't show any signs of biological contamination. They're all healthy.
Shadowhunter Captain: The warriors' biological arcana markers are also completely normal, so we know they're not interlopers in disguise.
Player: Which means...
Player: They simply disappeared for a few hours and then returned. There's nothing abnormal about them?
Shadowhunter Captain: That's right.
Shadowhunter Captain: If I had to say there was something abnormal about them...
Shadowhunter Captain: It would be that they were all exhausted when they returned.
Player: Exhausted?
Shadowhunter Captain: It was like they'd just fought a battle.
Player: That's right.
Shadowhunter Captain: Lately, our patrols have gone missing with increasing frequency. It's already started to affect our control of the Star Woods.
Shadowhunter Captain: Mr. Player, the Shadows have always had their eyes on the Forest Nexus.
Shadowhunter Captain: Make no mistake, this place is absolutely critical to the survival of Luxium!
Shadowhunter Captain: Yet, our numbers are limited, and we cannot spare the manpower to investigate this issue.
Shadowhunter Captain: We would be eternally grateful for your help on this, Player.
Player: You don't even have to ask, Captain. The Shadows are our common enemy.
Player: Don't worry, I will do my best to investigate this matter.
Shadowhunter Captain: Great!
Shadowhunter Captain: Thank you, Mr. Player.
Shadowhunter Captain: These are the patrol routes of the missing patrols, and this is where they disappeared.
Shadowhunter Captain: If the Shadowhunters can help in any way, don't hesitate to ask.
The next day, deep in the Star Woods.
Player: Phew. It's a good thing the Shadowhunters gave me this map.
Player: Otherwise, I'd be totally lost in these woods.
Player: (Takes out map)
Player: Hmm, this is where the first disappearance occurred.
Player looks around
Player: The ground here is a little black, as if it was set on fire.
Player: Judging by the state its in, this happened over ten days ago.
Player: Hmm...
Player: Maybe the patrol team rested at a campfire. This doesn't tell me anything.
Player looks elsewhere
Player: Hmm...
Player: Nothing noteworthy here...
Player: Judging by the map, there's nothing connecting the places where the disappearances occurred.
Player: *Sigh*...
Player: I have no idea what happened.
Suddenly, Player hears some footsteps approaching
Player: Someone's here!
Batur and two Alterland shield warriors enter
Player: Chieftain Batur?
Batur: Mr. Player?
Player: You're a long way from the Alterland tribe. What are you doing here?
Behind Batur, more Alterland shield warriors carry the boars they hunted from the forest
Batur: At the end of every month, the most experienced Alterland hunters hunt together to help the tribe stock up on provisions.
Batur: Lately, the forest boars have been migrating south. We followed their footprints here.
Player: Wow...
Player: That's a lot of prey.
Batur: We just finished our hunt and were getting ready to return to the tribe with our prey.
Batur: If you're not busy, Mr. Player, you can come back to Alterland with us!
Batur: Boars are stocky and fat this time of year, and their meat is very succulent. It's the best time to eat them.
Player: Wow! Really? But...
Player: Uh...
Player: I'd love to go, but I can't...
Batur: Are you having trouble, Player?
Player: I wouldn't say I'm having trouble...
Player: I accepted a commission from the Shadowhunters that protect the Forest Nexus. I'm investigating this area.
Player: The Shadowhunters are eager to get to the bottom of this. I need to get this done as soon as I can.
Player: It's just that my investigation hasn't yielded any fruit yet.
Batur: I see...
Batur: Hmm...
Batur: I've lived in the Star Woods since I was a child. I know this place like the back of my hand.
Batur: If you're open to it, I could help you out!
Player: Oh!
Player: If you're willing to help, I'd be happy to accept! Why wouldn't I be open to it?
Player: But if you're busy with a hunt, Chieftain Batur, don't let me hold you up.
Batur: The hunt is over. We didn't catch much, so my men will be able to take it back to the tribe on their own.
Batur: You've helped my tribe much in the past, Mr. Player. I have not yet returned this favor...
Batur: So let me return it now.
Player: In that case, thank you, Chieftain Batur.
A short while later, the Alterland hunters leave with the prey.
You give Batur a quick rundown of the Shadowhunters' commission.
Batur: So the Shadowhunter patrols disappeared, but a short while later, reappeared without a scratch on them.
Player: My mission is to investigate the reason behind these disappearances.
Batur: The warriors of the Shadowhunters are known for their strength. The power to make them disappear and then reappear is a formidable one.
Batur: What has me most curious is why the Shadowhunters were permitted to return to their camp after being taken.
Player: Yeah, that's what I'm wondering, too.
Batur: Did the Shadowhunters return with anything?
Player: They weren't missing anything when they returned, and they weren't injured.
Player: All the warriors could tell us was their patrol routes.
Player: But they change up their routes every day, and the routes are inscrutable to someone who isn't familiar with the Star Woods.
Player: So even though the warriors marked where they disappeared on the map...
Player: I've been investigating all day, and I can't find anything strange about the disappearance sites.
Batur: Hmm...
Batur: May I take a look at this map that shows where they disappeared?
Player: Of course. (Hands the map to Batur)
Player: There's no pattern behind the locations of their disappearances.
Batur: Oh!
Batur: This...
Player: Did you find something, Chieftain?
Batur: If you draw lines between the sites where the Shadowhunters disappeared, it resembles the southward migration patterns of the forest boars.
Player: The forest boars?
Batur: The past few days, my men and I have been hunting the boars as they've migrated south.
Batur: Boars that get started flee to the south.
Batur: These last two patrol disappearances occurred just south of the area where I was hunting.
Player: So whoever is behind this is chasing boars...
Player: Could it be another hunter who is also after these boars?
Batur: Unlikely. Compared to the boars' southward migration, the Shadowhunter disappearances are more scattered.
Batur: It looks more like they gradually became wise to the southward migration of the boars while they were looking for food.
Batur: As opposed to a hunter, it looks more like they are an explorer who has some hunting skills, but is lost.
Player: A lost explorer?!
Player: Hmm...
Player: It's hard to imagine a lost explorer would have anything to do with the disappearances of the Shadowhunters.
Batur: That's true...
Player: Whatever the case, this is a clue worth following up on.
Player: Based on your analysis, Chieftain Batur, whoever is behind the disappearances may be south of the last disappearance site.
Batur: Yes! That seems very likely.
A while later, in the southern part of the Star Woods...
Batur: Player!
Player: Jackpot.
Player: There are tracks all over the place, and they're fresh.
Player: It's clear that someone just passed through here.
Batur: ...
Batur: I heard something over there, Player!
Player: ...
Player: Be careful, Chieftain Batur.
Batur: Stand behind my shield.
Player and Batur run towards the sounds
Meanwhile...
The devilish looking man stands above a burning boar
??????: ...
The man hears footsteps approaching
??????: ...
??????: More of them...
??????: That's okay... They can give me their power...
The man turns around expecting Shadowhunters but instead sees Player and Batur
??????: Oh!!!
Player: Whoa!!
Player: (Whisper) This oppressive aura...
Batur: ...
This man...
He floats in the air, gazing down upon you...
Just by looking at him, you felt a wave of heat wash over you.
It felt like being engulfed in flames. You couldn't breathe...
You can sense the power radiating from him...
It is deep, dark, incomparably strong.
A force not of this world...
Player: (Whispers) I don't sense any Shadow Flux...
Player: (Whispers) He's not a Shadow.
Player: (Whispers) But...
Batur: Hmm...
??????: ...
Player: (He's staring at Batur...)
??????: (smiles)
Player: (Huh? He's smiling?)
??????: Humans...
??????: Aren't you going to yell 'Shadow', then draw your blades and attack me?
Player: Huh?
Batur: You're not a Shadow. Why would we attack?
??????: Hmm... It would appear that you are different from the others.
??????: Finally. I was beginning to think everyone in this world was a violent brute.
Player: 'This world...'
Player: Who are you?
??????: ...
Samael: I am Samael. I...
Samael: Am a space-time traveler.
Batur: Spacetime?
Player: Traveler?
Samael: That is correct. I am not from this world.
Samael: I am a traveler who travels between different worlds.
Batur: ...
Player: ...
Samael: You don't believe me?
Samael: I cannot blame you. It must be hard for humans to comprehend.
Batur and Player both look at each other and then turn back to Samael
Batur: All right...
Player: But...
Player: Why did you come to the Star Woods to cook boar?
Samael: Uh...
Samael: ...
Samael: ...
Samael: ...
The flaming aura around Samael gets progressively stronger
Player: ...
Batur: ...
Batur: (His right hand clutching his giant shield, he inches closer to you.)
Player: (This guy's Flux level has increased tenfold in a manner of seconds!)
You can see the anger of the man in front of you...
Along with the air and the environment around him, he has taken on the scarlet hue of flames.
Suddenly, the oppressive aura weakens.
Samael: ...
Player: (His Flux level is falling. Is he restraining himself?)
Samael: I can cross the barriers between worlds, but I cannot choose where I come into this world.
Samael: That's why I'm here.
Samael: This forest is a labyrinth!
Samael: I've been running around in circles for weeks, with no way out!
Samael: I hope you two have a better lay of the land than I do.
Samael's eyes betray a longing...
But this longing quickly disappears.
As if he didn't want the longing to exist.
Player: ...
You look at Batur, who understands the meaning behind your glance, and nods.
Batur: My people and I have lived in these woods for generations.
Batur: If you wish to leave this place, I can help.
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: Finally...
Samael: You are willing to help me, human? I will remember this kindness.
Batur: It takes 3 days' time to leave the Star Woods on foot.
Batur: Why don't you come back with me to my Alterland tribe, and replenish your provisions before your journey?
Player: Yeah. Plus, the Alterland tribe is closer to where I parked my airship.
The next day, at the Alterland tribe...
Batur: Welcome to Alterland.
Batur: You must be hungry. I'll have something made for you, and will arrange a place for you to stay.
Player: Okay. Thank you, Chieftain.
Samael stares at Batur's back as Batur leaves
Samael: (smiles)
Player: (Samael's staring at Batur again.)
Player: (Does he think there's something wrong with him?)
Samael looks around the tribal area
As he catches the gazes of some of the citizens, they quickly look away
Player: ...
Player: Don't worry about all the people staring at you, Samael. They won't hurt you.
Samael: It is the first time that these humans are laying eyes on me. It is only natural for them to be on guard.
Samael: But these humans are not like the other humans I've seen.
Player: (He's seen humans before?)
Samael: Speaking of which, human, you dress differently than they do.
Samael: You don't seem to be a local.
Player: Yeah, that's right. This here is the Alterland tribe, which is a forest tribe located in the Star Woods in the eastern part of Wonderland.
Player: And I'm from Never Isle, which is far away from here.
Samael: Wonderland? Star Woods? Never Isle?
Player: I almost forgot, you're a traveler from another world.
Player: This world is called Luxium, and the land beneath our feet is the continent of Wonderland.
Player: This vast forest around us is the Star Woods. Never Isle is a city to the southwest of the mainland.
Samael: I see...
Samael: It would seem that I have come to a prosperous world.
Player: Yep.
Samael: Can you tell me more about this world?
Samael: The more I know, the less trouble I will have in my future travels.
Player: Let me think... Where should I begin?
Player: First of all, Luxium is being threatened by something called the 'Shadows.'
Player: They are utterly evil, and plan to use their power to thoroughly corrupt Luxium.
Player: They are the enemy of all humanity.
Samael: Oh...
Player: They can control beasts they corrupt and are skilled at using Shadow Arcana.
Player: If you encounter a purple and red beast out in the wild, that is a Shadowbeast. Shadow Arcana is usually purple or dark green.
Player: If you see anything like that on your travels, keep a safe distance.
Samael: All right. The Shadows are evil creatures with obvious features, and I should stay away from them.
Samael: I see...
Samael: Which is to say, humans like yourself are probably much kinder, right?
Player: Not always...
Player: Among humans, there is one organization that is particularly troublesome...
Player: They call themselves the 'Sword of Light'. They're a group of extremists who believe in Kaism.
Player: If they get a look at you, Samael, they'll probably take you for a Gyee.
Samael: Gyee? What's a Gyee?
Player: Gyees are also humans, but they're special humans.
Player: Compared to ordinary humans, Gyees possess extraordinary talent with Flux. Some Gyees even possess the strength of wild beasts.
Player: For instance, Chieftain Batur is a Gyee. Many of the members of the Alterland tribe are also Gyees.
Samael: That big strong man who brought us here is a Gyee?
Player: Yes...
Player: Because of the Gyees' differences, the 'Sword of Light' believes the Gyees are evil, cursed, and just as bad as the Shadows.
Samael: But I didn't sense anything particularly evil about that big guy.
Player: You're right. In fact, Gyees are the same as ordinary humans, in that they love this world. However...
Player: The 'Sword of Light' doesn't see it that way...
Player: They rely on their faith in Ka, and hunt down and kill Gyees in the name of their god, the Holy Light, and justice.
Player: Countless Gyees have perished by their hands.
Samael: Holy Light... Justice...
Samael: Bastards who commit wrongs in the name of righteousness!
Samael: That's reprehensible!
Player: (He seems quite passionate about the White Capes.)
Player: The members of the 'Sword of Light' are easy to spot, too. They dress in white from head to toe, with white capes and white armor...
Player: That's why people also call them the 'White Capes'.
Samael: (angry)
A few moments later...
Player finds Batur
Batur: Mr. Player, where's Samael?
Player: After he finished his meal, he went back to the room you prepared for him to rest.
Batur: Good!
Batur turns to the Alterland warrior standing behind him
Batur: Go!
Alterland Warrior: Yes, sir!
Player: What...
Batur: My warriors will keep an eye on Samael tonight.
Player: You've got him under watch? If he finds out...
Batur: We are simply going to keep an eye on his room from a distance.
Batur: To make sure that he doesn't do anything to harm Alterland while we sleep.
Batur: He is very powerful, so I need to be careful until we know more about him.
Player: Yes, with the power we saw earlier in the woods...
Player: If Samael really got serious, we wouldn't stand a chance against him!
Player: I hope you made the right call, inviting Samael to come to Alterland.
Batur: If Samael really is a threat to us, it would be better to let him stay here than to not know his whereabouts.
Batur: If he really is just a traveler who got lost in the Star Woods...
Batur: Then it is a tenet of the Forest God that we help those in need.
Player: Indeed...
Batur: Mr. Player, you just had a chat with Samael.
Batur: Did you get anything out of him?
Player: Nothing out of the ordinary...
Player: He really seems to be a traveler from another world.
Player: But...
Player: Samael did encounter other humans before he ran into us.
Batur: You mean...
Batur: When we ran into him, and he said...
Player: "Aren't you going to yell 'Shadow', then draw your blades and attack me?"
Player: Samael must have been the one who made the Shadowhunter patrols vanish and reappear!
Batur: Well, the Shadowhunter patrols mistook Samael for a Shadow and attacked him.
Batur: Then Samael protected himself by erasing the patrols' memories, then released them.
Player: Yes. On the one hand, Samael acted out of self-defense. On the other, he did not want the 'hostile' humans to learn of his existence.
Batur: It would seem that Samael really is just a traveler, and does not mean to harm this world.
Player: Keep an eye on him. Better safe than sorry.
Player: I also wonder what happened during the few hours that the patrols were missing.
Batur: We have no way of knowing...
Batur: But Samael leaving the Star Woods would also solve the Shadowhunters' problem.
Batur: Your work for the day is done, Mr. Player.
Player: Yes, however, I'm not going to tell the Shadowhunters about Samael for now.
Player: His power is unbelievable. It would be a problem if the Shadowhunters were to make a big deal out of this and encounter Samael.
Batur: That is very circumspect of you.
Player: I'll think of an excuse to hold them off for now. (Yawns)
Batur: You've had a long journey. Your room is ready, Mr. Player. Go get some rest.
Player: Oh! Thank you, Chieftain Batur. I am tired...
The next morning...
Player: Uh...
Player: I'd almost forgotten that all these trees blocking out the sky make morning indistinguishable from nighttime in Alterland.
Player: After all the hard work over the last few days, it was nice to sleep so comfortably.
Player: (Stretches lazily)
Player: Huh? What...?
An Alterland Warrior talks with Samael outside of his room
Alterland Warrior: We are the children of the Forest God Limuthule. Limuthule does not mind Gyees...
Alterland Warrior: In fact, we Alterlans believe Gyees are symbolic of the Forest God's blessing.
Samael: I see. So that's why there are so many Gyees here...
Samael: I'm guessing you are also a Gyee?
Alterland Warrior: Huh? How did you know?
Samael: I can sense something different about your body...
Samael: You have a talent for Flux...
Alterland Warrior: You're incredible.
Alterland Warrior: Anyway, I can't stay to chat. It's time for my training.
Samael: Thank you for me sharing with me Alterland's culture.
As the warrior leaves, Player comes by
Player: Samael?
Samael: Ah, it's you, human. What's the matter?
Player: Nothing...
Samael: (smiles)
Player: You seem to be in a good mood today.
Samael: You know, I've met more people in the past two days, than in all the previous weeks combined!
Player: I almost forgot you'd been lost in the woods for weeks.
Samael: Luckily, the humans here are friendly...
Samael: And are willing to help a lost traveler like myself.
Samael: They also told me a lot about these woods and this tribe.
Player: You seem to be interested in history and culture.
Samael: I am interested in everything about this world.
Samael: Now that you're here, why don't we go see the Chieftain together?
Samael: These past two days, he has been of great help to me. I wish to thank him in person, but I don't know where he lives.
Samael: Will you show me the way?
Player: Oh... Of course. I was just on my way to pay him a visit.
Player: The chieftain's hut is over here.
Player and Samael walk by Batur's hut
As they pass under a window, Player overhears some interesting conversation
???: Hahaha...
Player: Huh?
Player: Did I just hear a woman's laugh coming from inside?
Player: The direction of that laugh... It's Chieftain Batur's bedroom!
Alterland Woman A: Did you see that? The Chieftain was blushing when he came out.
Alterland Woman B: Of course. I thought something was wrong...
Alterland Woman B: He's so full of energy at night. He was all over the place, wasn't he?
Player: Whoa!!
Alterland Woman B: The Chieftain is in the prime of his life, isn't it normal for him to be so strong? He treats us like we're outsiders, though.
Alterland Woman A: The Chieftain likes to do everything himself. He doesn't want to trouble us.
Alterland Woman A: The Chieftain did so much in one night...
Alterland Woman A: Whoever he ends up taking as a wife will be truly blessed!
Alterland Woman B: You can say that again!
Alterland Woman B: Now then... That was a long night. Let's clean up. The Chieftain will be receiving guests soon. We shouldn't be seen.
Player: ...
Player: (Last night, did Batur...)
Samael: (smiles)
Player and Samael reach the entrance to Batur's hut and talk with the guards
Player: Hello, we would like to see Chieftain Batur.
Alterland Warrior: I'm sorry, Mr. Player. The Chieftain isn't in.
Player: Oh. Do you know where he went?
Alterland Warrior: The Chieftain went to wash his clothes in the river.
Player: He went to wash his clothes?
Player: Then let's go to the river and find him.
A few moments later...
Batur: Oh...
Batur: All clean...
Batur: It was obviously just a dream...
Batur: So why...
Batur: *Sigh*...
Batur: Batur! You need to get a grip on yourself!
Samael: Some things, you just need to let be.
Batur: Oh!
Batur turns around and gets surprised by Player and Samael
Samael: It isn't healthy to hold back!
Batur: Uh...
Player: (Batur... is blushing?)
Player: Samael, you think Chieftain Batur is holding something back?
Samael: Yes, you heard him. The Chieftain admonished himself, saying he needed to get a grip.
Samael: Whatever the Chieftain is holding in, it can't be good for him.
Player: You're right.
Batur: Uh...yeah.
Batur: Ahem! What are you two doing here?
Samael: I wanted to thank you for escorting me out of the woods two days ago.
Batur: Haha, you're welcome, but you're not out of the Star Woods yet.
Batur: Save it for when you've really left the Star Woods!
Batur: I'm going to go have some water prepared for you. There's still a ways to go before you're out of the Star Woods.
Batur: So if you'll excuse me...
Batur quickly leaves
Player: Huh? Chieftain Batur?
Samael: (smiles)
Player: (Looks at the expression on Samael's face.)
Player: (Could it be...)
A few moments later...
Player talks to Batur outside his hut
Player: Chieftain Batur, are you okay?
Batur: Oh!
Batur: Player...
Player: You look tired. Didn't you sleep well last night?
Batur: I... I'm fine.
Batur: I don't have much strength right now. I'm just a little tired, that's all.
Player: Tired?
Player: When the Shadowhunters' missing patrols returned to camp, they were unharmed, but very tired.
Player: It must be Samael!
Batur: ...
Batur looks over at the nearby training grounds
Samael is observing the Alterland warriors and shamans train with great interest
Samael: (smiles)
Samael: The shield warriors and shamans are training together.
Samael: It would seem this is a classical world, full of magic. Fascinating.
Batur talks to Player
Batur: To be honest, I could sense that Mr. Samael is not a bad person.
Batur: I asked the warrior who I had watch him last night...
Batur: Samael slept all night after going into his room, and didn't come out till early this morning.
Batur: And the warrior guarding my hut did not see Samael last night.
Player: What?
Batur: But last night, I had a long, long dream.
Player: A nightmare?
Batur: It wasn't a nightmare, it was...
Batur: It was a dream of requited love. A very beautiful dream.
Player: Huh?
Player: I think you've been under too much pressure lately, Chieftain. Your body needs to rest.
Batur: But the dream lasted the whole night...
Batur: Samael and I...
Batur: Hmm...
Batur: I'll spare you the details.
Player: Did Samael do this?
Player: But you just said that Samael was sleeping in his room all night and didn't go anywhere.
Batur: Yes, but I feel it is most out of the ordinary!
Batur: Could it be? Can he control people's dreams?
Player: Last night, I also kept an eye on Samael. I set up an array in my room to detect arcana waves.
Player: There was no sign of anything abnormal this morning. No one used any arcana.
Batur: Hmm...
Batur: Neither you nor I understand Samael's power.
Batur: Perhaps he is able to control my dreams without the use of arcana?
Batur: But why would he do this? What's he trying to do?
Player: Yeah. I'm wondering about that myself.
The two look back at Samael and the training group
Samael: Hmm, the energy radiation emitted by this staff is consistent with the foundational energy of this world.
Samael: Which is what that human calls 'Flux'...
Samael: If Gyees are more adept at controlling Flux...
Samael: No wonder the humans here consider Gyees to be 'symbolic of the Forest God's blessing'.
Alterland Priest: Hmm... It is the duty of Alterlans to extend a helping hand to those who are lost. I have no qualms with that.
Alterland Priest: But stop playing with my staff!
Samael: I'm terribly sorry, I just find it so interesting.
Player turns back to Batur
Player: ...
Player: Chieftain Batur, for safety's sake...
Player: I want to take Samael with me to Never Isle.
Batur: Never Isle?
Player: Yes, Samael is very powerful, and we don't know what his objective is.
Player: If he intends to do Luxium harm and we let him travel around freely, that would be a big mistake!
Player: The Oathblades, Order of Equality, and Arcana Academy are all located on Never Isle. They should be able to figure out what his objective is.
Player: Besides, there are many powerful warriors on Never Isle. If something does happen, we would have a better chance of getting him under control.
Batur: Yes... I think that would be for the best.
Samael floats by
Batur: Did you sleep well last night, Samael?
Samael: It was the first good sleep I've had since I came to this world.
Samael: I feel great!
Batur: That's good. My people have already prepared some water for you to drink after you leave the Star Woods.
Player: About leaving the Star Woods, I...
Samael: I was just coming to find the two of you.
Samael: I am not eager to leave the Star Woods.
Player: Oh?
Player: Weren't you planning on traveling? There are many great places to see in this world!
Samael: I know...
Samael: However, during the course of my overnight stay here, I became deeply fascinated in Alterland's culture.
Samael: I would like to stay here a few more days.
Player: Oh!
Batur: ...
Samael: Do not worry, I can take care of myself, and I will not get in anybody's way.
Samael: You won't even know I am here.
Player: (That's exactly what we're worried about.)
Player: Samael, Luxium is even bigger than you can imagine.
Player: The Alterland tribe and the Star Woods make up less than 3% of our entire world.
Player: Don't delay your trip here. If you're interested in learning more about Alterland's culture, Never Isle has plenty of books about it.
Samael: You two... Don't want me to stay here?
Player: That's not what I meant!
Player: It's just that, I'm just curious why you like this place so much.
Samael: You told me that this world is not a peaceful one. That there are troubles elsewhere.
Samael: I am a traveler, and I don't want to get into trouble.
Samael: The people of Alterland are friendly, and there are lots of Gyees here.
Samael: Naturally, I would like to acquaint myself with such a friendly place first.
Batur: Mr. Samael, the Alterlans are willing to assist those in need and give them a helping hand.
Batur: But we are the children of the Forest God, and Alterland is the promised land he has given to us.
Batur: If you really want to stay here, you must proclaim your faith in the Forest God Limuthule, and follow his doctrine.
Samael: Uh...
Samael: But I am truly interested in you.
Samael: Don't worry, I won't bother you.
Player: Hold on a second. You just mentioned the Gyees?
Samael: Over the past two days, I have found that Gyees are easier to get along with than ordinary humans.
Samael: Alterland has lots of Gyees, so I would prefer to remain nearby.
Player: Never Isle is a Gyee paradise.
Samael: What do you mean, a Gyee paradise?
Player: Well, in spite of the White Capes that go around murdering Gyees, the strongest of the Gyees got together and built their own homeland.
Player: Never Isle.
Samael: !!
Player: What's more, Never Isle is one of the most developed cities in Luxium.
Player: Never Isle is the best place to get to know Luxium.
Samael: I understand now!
Samael: I want to go to Never Isle! Can you take me there?
Player: Uh...
Player: I... I can do that...
Samael: Great! Then I'll go get ready!
Samael flies back to his room
Batur: That was easy...
Player: He agreed, just like that?
Later that day, in the western part of the Star Woods.
Near the location where the airship is parked.
Samael: The sunlight is getting brighter. Are we getting close to the edge of the Star Woods?
Batur: Yeah. We're nearing the western edge of the Star Woods. The trees aren't so dense here.
Player: Whenever I come to Star Woods on a commission, I park the airship nearby...
Player: You probably haven't seen a Luxium airship yet.
Player: It's the main form of transportation people use to travel around the world.
Samael: Okay.
Samael and Batur continue on
Player: Oh?
Player: (I thought he'd show more interest in another world's airships...)
A few moments later...
Batur: Hold on!
Samael: ...
Player: What's up?
Batur: There's someone up ahead.
Two White Capes soldiers confront a caravan
White Capes Soldier: According to the Law of the Holy Light, your daughter is guilty of being a Gyee! We are going to take her into custody!
Caravan Leader: Please, can't you find it in your heart to let us go, sir?
Caravan Leader: (Hands a bag of gold coins to the soldier.)
White Capes Soldier: (Takes the gold coins.)
White Capes Soldier: The audacity! You are actually trying to bribe a warrior of the Sword of Light?
Caravan Leader: Whoa!!
White Capes Soldier: Out of the way! We only arrest Gyees!
Caravan Leader: ...
White Capes Soldier: But if you do not step aside, I will arrest you for obstructing an officer of the law!
Caravan Leader: You monsters! My daughter has committed no crime. You're really going to arrest her simply for being born a Gyee?
White Capes Soldier: Yelloweyes are the lackeys of the Shadows. We will purify her sins in the name of the Holy Light!
Caravan Leader: If you're going to take my daughter, you're going to have to do it over my dead body!
White Capes Soldier: Is that so? Well, we can accommodate.
The soldiers ready their swords
White Capes Soldier: Since you have chosen to resist, die! In the name of the Holy Light!
Samael: Stop, human!
Samael: You all must be the Sword of Light.
Samael: If you value your lives, you will let those people go!
White Capes Soldier: By Ka, what is this?!
White Capes Soldier: Look at his head - his feet! That's a demon!
White Capes Soldier: Inform our brothers nearby, quickly!
Player: You raise your weapons against unarmed civilians? Who is the demon here?!
Samael: Get out of here! I won't warn you a second time!
White Capes Soldier: Warriors of the Holy Light, do not retreat!
White Capes Soldier: The Great Ka is on our side. His Holy Light protects us!
White Capes Soldier: In the name of Ka and the Holy Light, exterminate this demon!
Samael: Ka? The Holy Light?
Samael: (angry)
Player: Whoa! Samael's Flux level...
Batur: !!
Batur: Help me protect those commoners, Player!
Samael battles the White Capes
Player: Whoa! Those White Capes reinforcements got here fast!
Player: Be careful, Samael! There are a lot of them!
Samael: Holy Light... Holy Light?!
Samael: You disgust me!
Samael attacks
Player: By Ka, what is this power?!
Batur: Player! Stand behind me!
White Capes Soldier: Ahhhhh!
White Capes Soldier: Ahhhhh!
Samael's fiery rage continues
Batur: Hngh... (Using all his might to hold up his shield)
Samael: Repent in the flames of hell!
Samael burns down more White Capes
White Capes Reinforcement: Wow! This demon!
White Capes Reinforcement: Our brothers are all here. On me, charge!
Samael: Humph. You've got some nerve.
Samael: Take your souls...
Samael: And burn!!!
Samael immolates the rest of the White Capes
Player: Ah! My... Ka...
Batur: By Limuthule...
A few moments later...
Samael: Where's the Gyee who was just here?
Batur: I... I told them to run...
Samael: Just as long as they are okay...
Player: Yeah... They're... They're okay...
Samael: Let's go. We cannot let those ignorant mortals slow us down.
Samael: Are we ready to go?
Batur lowers his shield
Player: Yeah!
Batur: This way, this way.

-Intimacy Level 4
At the edge of the Star Woods, on the bridge of the airship.
Billy: You're back, Captain...
Billy: Whoa!!
Samael: (smiles)
Player: Hey, Billy, don't be rude!
Player: Sorry, Mr. Samael.
Player: Billy means well.
Player: Billy, allow me to introduce you to Mr. Samael.
Player: He is a traveler who travels between worlds.
Player: This is Billy, the airship's chief engineer.
Samael: Greetings, human.
Billy: Oh... H-hi.
Player: Mr. Samael, this is the bridge of our airship.
Player: From here, we steer the airship, plot its course, monitor its status, and much more.
Player: It's by far the most important cabin in the entire ship. Feel free to visit when you have time.
Samael: Seems like a pretty important place. Are you sure that's okay?
Player: Of course!
Samael: Oh...
Player: Come on, Billy. Let's prepare the Hottie Bar. We've got a guest.
Billy: Oh, sure.
As Billy passes by, you grab him.
Player: (Whispering) Let Kitty know that we have a guest.
Player: (Whispering) Tell him to be prepared. Make sure he doesn't...
Kitty: You're finally back, Player! I was about to -
Kitty: Oh!
Kitty: Ahhhhhh!
Player: Uh...
Some time later, at the Hottie Bar...
Samael: Mmm!
Samael: This wine has got a mellow taste and smooth texture. It's good!
Samael: Thank you, human.
Player: I'm happy that you like it.
Player: We're airborne. It'll take about half a day's time to reach Never Isle.
Player: If there's anything you need, don't hesitate to give me a shout. Otherwise, make yourself at home~
Samael: Okay, thank you.
Player: (Makes a beeline out of the Hottie Bar)
Outside the Hottie Bar.
Billy: What's going on, Captain?
Kitty: I sense he's got a very special aura!
Kitty: Player, you shouldn't bring Shadows on board the airship.
Player: Guys. Guys, calm down. Listen to me.
Player: First of all, don't worry. He's a traveler who came to Luxium from another world, he's not a Shadow.
Player: Secondly, keep it down. Don't let Samael overhear!
Billy: Captain, you're scaring me. I've never seen you like this.
Player: I'll spill the details to you guys later.
Player: For now, just remember this: whatever you do, don't make him angry.
Player: One wrong look and he could burn us and the airship...
Player: To ash.
Kitty: Gulp...
At the same time, inside the Hottie Bar.
Voice Outside the Door: Whatever you do... Don't make him angry...
Voice Outside the Door: One wrong look and he could burn us... To ash...
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: ...

-Intimacy Level 5
High above central Luxium.
In the captain's cabin aboard the airship.
Player: Phew... We've finally gotten Samael sorted out.
Player: I can finally lie down on my big old bed.
Just then, there was a knock at the door...
Player: Huh? Who is it?
Samael: It is I, human.
Player: Oh... Samael?
Samael: May I come in?
Player: Of...of course.
Samael pushes the door in, a raging flame burning in his hand.
Player: Oh! Samael?
Player: ...what are you doing?
Samael: It would seem I have led you to misunderstand me, human.
Samael: I am here to apologize.
Player: Misunderstand? Apologize?
Player: (Could it be? Does he know about my suspicions towards him, and why I'm taking him to Never Isle?)
Player: ...
Player: If you're going to burn me, burn me alone. Please don't hurt Billy or Kitty...
Player: They're just ordinary Gyees...
Samael: ...
Samael: Let me just say, you misunderstand me.
The raging flame in Samael's hand weakens slightly.
You see Samael is holding a glass of liquor.
Samael: This is a kind of unprocessed liquor I found in the Hottie Bar. I've mixed it based on a recipe we use where I'm from.
Samael: Please, take it.
Saying this, Samael hands you the glass of flaming liquor.
It is clear that he is not joking.
Player: ...
Player: (Takes the glass)
Player: Whoa!!
You don't feel the heat of the flames.
On the contrary, you sense a warmth that penetrates deep into your heart.
Player: How... How is this possible?
Samael: (smiles)
Samael: Have a taste~
Player: Okay... (Takes a sip)
You had originally thought that it was a kind of dark cocktail.
But when you take a sip, it is burning hot, like sipping lava.
Almost immediately, the lava evaporates in your mouth.
What had at first felt like burning hot lava became warm and gentle.
For a moment, you feel as if you are basking in the sunlight on a beach.
Player: !!
Samael: Human, when you and the Alterland Chieftain found me, I was lost in the woods.
Samael: You told me about this world's culture. You are even willing to take me to Never Isle.
Samael: I don't know what your hobbies are, but since you have a bar on your airship, I thought you might be fond of drinking.
Samael: So I made you some of my hometown wine. I hope you like it.
Player: You didn't need to do this, Samael.
Samael: Earlier, when I punished those members of the 'Sword of Light', I led you to misunderstand me.
Samael: Please remember, human...
Samael: My flames only burn my enemies.
Player: ...
Player: Got it!

-Intimacy Level 6
At the Never Isle harbor.
Beneath the vast gates of Never Isle, Samael's eyes widen with awe.
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: Gyees... There are Gyees everywhere...
Samael: It's just like you said.
Player: It seems that you like Never Isle, Samael.
Samael: Of course! A vast, prosperous city like this will best reflect your world's civilization.
Samael: My glory, my long-cherished wish...
Samael: It will be realized. It must...
Player: How long do you plan to stay on Never Isle, Samael?
Samael: It's hard to say.
Samael: It will take weeks to study the culture of the Alterland Tribe.
Samael: And Never Isle is much larger than Alterland. It will take at least three months to study that.
Player: Hmm... If you want to stay for three months...
Player: Then you'll need to apply for a Never Isle temporary residence permit.
Samael: Temporary residence permit?
Player: Yeah! A temporary residence permit will allow you to remain on the island for up to four months.
Player: With a legal permit, it'll be much easier for you to learn about Never Isle and research Luxium's culture.
Samael: I understand. You have my full cooperation.
Player: It's not hard to qualify for a temporary residence permit.
Player: Besides, with me as your reference, it shouldn't be any trouble at all.
Several days later, at the Defense Force's residence permit application office.
Player: Huh? He was rejected?
Izumi: I'm sorry, Player.
Samael: ...
Player: But...why?
Izumi: The Kaist Church exercised its veto right and refused Mr. Samael's application.
Player: The Kaist Church?
Samael: Ka... I seem to remember this word.
Kaist Official: So long as I am here, you will never set foot on Never Isle!
Player: Who are you?
Izumi: This is the member of the Kaist Church in charge of residence permits.
Samael: So you're the one who rejected my residence permit.
Kaist Official: Yeah...
Player: Why?
Kaist Official: Although Mr. Player vouches for you...
Kaist Official: Mr. Player, please - take a look at this guy!
Kaist Official: He's got strange wings, a tail, and...horns!
Kaist Official: Together, these all prove that he has been forsaken by Ka and cursed by the Abyss!
Kaist Official: Mr. Player, the Church and I have always had the utmost respect for you, but I have to say...
Kaist Official: You might need to let the Church have a look at your eyes.
Samael: Say what you will about me, human, but leave him out of this!
Player: ...
Kaist Official: ...All right.
Kaist Official: And! (Pointing at Samael's waist)
Kaist Official: This thing! I can't bear to look right at it!
Samael: (angry)
Player: Huh?
Kaist Official: As the children of Ka, if we do not practice abstinence, then how are we any different from the Shadows?
Kaist Official: This...accursed beast! Ahh! It's evil! It's simply evil!
Samael: Abstinence? That's ridiculous!
Samael: I will give you a good look at what you truly desire...
Player: Whoa! These flux waves... Samael's getting angry!
Player: Calm down, Samael. He's not an enemy, he's just ...
Player: Anyway, whatever you do, don't attack him.
Kaist Official: How dare you threaten me! It's just as I thought - you really are an accursed beast!
Izumi leans over and whispers.
Izumi: You'd better leave. If you make this man angry, Samael won't even be able to enter the harbor.
Samael: ...
Samael: ...
Samael's anger subsides
Kaist Official: According to the laws of Never Isle, Samael, you have 24 hours to leave the island!
Samael: I understand!

-Intimacy Level 7
At the Never Isle harbor, on the bridge of the airship.
Player: Billy, where's Samael?
Billy: Samael went up on deck.
Billy: He doesn't look too happy...
Billy: What happened?
Player: His temporary residence permit for Never Isle was rejected.
Billy: What?
Player: I'll go check on him.
On the deck of the airship.
Samael is looking up at the sky.
Player: Samael.
Samael: Human, it's you...
Player: Are you okay?
Samael: I'm okay, I just wanted to get some air.
Player: I'm sorry about the permit.
Samael: Why are you sorry? You didn't do anything wrong.
Player: I know, but...
Deck Comms: Captain, we received a request for help from the Oathblades. They've run into some trouble in Never Isle.
Player: The Oathblades are in trouble?
Player: We need to take off immediately, Billy! Let's go help the Oathblades!
Deck Comms: Yes, sir!
Player: Samael, the airship is about to take off. The deck isn't very safe. Let's go back inside.
Samael: You go back in. I can handle the force of liftoff. I want to see the sky some more.
Player: All right...
Player: (I'll wait till the airship reaches cruising altitude, then talk to Samael again...)
A while later, the airship has reached cruising altitude and the flight is proceeding smoothly.
Samael: ...
Samael: It's windy on deck. What are you doing out here?
Player: You seem to like Luxium's sky.
Samael: ...
Samael: Just above the sky is the border of the world.
Samael: Across that border is my hometown.
Player: Your hometown...
Player: You're saying, your hometown is above the sky.
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: No wonder you seem different from the others.
Player: (smiles)
Samael: Human, once this airship touches down, I'm going to leave.
Player: Leave?
Samael: You enjoy a good reputation on Never Isle, right?
Samael: The humans of Never Isle don't want me.
Samael: It would not be wise for us to be together.
Player: (surprised)
Player: But if you leave the airship, where will you go?
Samael: Mountains, grasslands, forests, deserts...
Samael: I'm a traveler. I'll find somewhere to go.
Player: Which means...
Player: But you have no idea where everything is.
Samael: ...
Player: ...
Player: Since you don't know where to go, just stay a while!
Samael: Oh!
Player: No matter how good a traveler is, he too will need a guide in an unfamiliar place.
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: Why?
Samael: Wouldn't I only be a burden to you?
Player: You're the one who had me drink your wine.
Player: We've shared wine together - that makes us friends.
Samael: Friends?
Samael: Friends...
Samael: ...
Player: Stay with me. If you want to learn more about Luxium's culture, about Never Isle, about the Gyees...
Player: Then I can borrow some books for you at the Arcana Academy.
Player: Wherever you want to go, I can take you there by airship.
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: (smiles)
Samael: Tell me your name, Human...
Player: You're right, I suppose we haven't formally introduced ourselves yet.
Player: I'm Player. Nice to meet you!
Samael: I am Samael. I look forward to our friendship, Player.
Player: Ugh, this weather... It's still a little cold on deck.
Samael: Cold? Why don't you go back? I'll make one of my flaming cocktails to warm you up.
Player: Sure!

-Intimacy Level 8
Somewhere in northern Never Isle...
Boom!!!
Oathblades Warrior: The Shadows are everywhere! We're about to be routed!
Miles: Don't panic! Do not panic! Stay in formation! Alternate cover!
Miles: Hold on. Player and his crew are coming!
Miles: Not...... These Shadow mongrels. How dare they plot against me!
Shadows: It is time to meet your doom!
Oathblades Warrior: Oh! That's...
Miles: What's wrong?
Oathblades Warrior: It's m-massive...
Miles: Massive?
Miles: You're on a battlefield, soldier. Act like it!
Oathblades Warrior: Brother Wolf, it's true! It's massive...
Miles: Let me have a look...
Miles: Ahh...
Samael: Become ash!
Scarlet flames and lava erupt from beneath the feet of the Shadows.
In an instant, the Oathblades are able to take the offensive, and the Shadows are quickly annihilated.
A while later, at Never Isle harbor, on the bridge of the airship.
Miles: Haha! You showed up not a moment too soon, Player.
Miles: Thanks to this guy, the Shadows were burned to a crisp all at once. What power!
Miles pats Samael on the back, expressing his gratitude and praise.
Samael: Uh...
Samael: ...You don't care that I am different from you all?
Miles: From what I hear, you're a traveler from another world, right?
Miles: I don't care if you're a god, a demon, a ghost, or just a man...
Miles: You like to kill Shadows, and you saved my brother's life.
Miles: That makes you my brother, too!
Samael: (surprised)
Miles: Hey, Samael, Player... Are you free tonight?
Miles: A new tavern just opened up on Never Isle. It's pretty good. Let me treat you to a drink!
Player: We can't go.
Miles: That's no way to treat your brother!
Player: It's not that we don't want to, it's just that...
Samael: I can't set foot on Never Isle...
Miles: Why?
Player: His temporary residence permit was denied. The Kaist Church rejected his application.
Miles: Those bastards...
Miles: Anyway, since they're so determined to stand in your way, just go around them.
Player: Go around them?
Miles: Yeah! If you want to live on Never Isle, I can help!
Samael: Whoa! Really?
Miles: Never Isle has a policy that anyone who renders special help to Never Isle can apply for a residence permit directly.
Miles: While the normal process requires the five organizations to review your application, this way only requires the recommendation of three.
Miles: I can take care of the recommendation from the Oathblades.
Miles: And with Samael's abilities, it won't be two difficult to get recommendations from the other two.
Player: They have that policy?
Player: That's great!
Samael: (smiles)
Miles: Player, Samael... My brothers and I are going back to report the success of our mission. See you later!
Player: Okay. Bye-bye~
Miles and the Oathblades Warriors leave the airship.
As they leave, a warrior brushes past Samael.
Samael: Huh?
Player: Samael?
Samael: Player, someone passed me a note.
Player: A note?
You open the note. On it is written the contact information of the warrior.
A heart has been drawn on it, next to the words 'Call me anytime~'.
Player: I think you've got an admirer, Samael.
Samael: (smiles)

-Intimacy Level 9
On the airship, in the Hottie Bar.
Vundo: Did I hear you right?
Vundo: You are calling into question the basic flux structure of our world?
Samael: Yeah...
Samael: Your 'flux system' is unacceptably inefficient!
Vundo: Ha...
Vundo: Hahahaha!
Vundo: Luxium's flux system is used in all aspects of our lives.
Vundo: It has borne witness to the flourishing of human civilization!
Vundo: And it's inefficient, you say?
Samael: To give you a simple example...
A flame rises from Samael's palm.
Samael: This is the flame that I can wield when I adhere to this world's flux structure.
Samael: And this...
Boom!!
A flame surges upward out of Samael's palm, charring the ceiling of the airship.
Vundo: Oh!
Samael: You see, if you ignore the flux structure, and make some refinements to how you channel the energy...
Samael: The same amount of energy produces a much greater effect.
Vundo: This is unbelievable!
Samael: As a result, your spell system, when using the natural flux base as a foundation...
Samael: Is inefficient, archaic, and utterly boring.
Vundo: Uh...
Vundo: Humans have used - nay! - depended upon the flux system for thousands of years.
Vundo: But we have never questioned it...
Player: How are you two getting along? I washed some fruit for you.
Vundo: This is amazing!
Suddenly, Vundo's arcana communicator crystal rings.
He suddenly realizes it's nighttime.
Vundo: It's getting late... I have to go back...
Vundo: Mr. Samael, we still have a lot to talk about.
Vundo: I'm not going to lecture you...
Vundo: In fact, I'd like to invite you to be Chair Professor at the Arcana Academy. On one condition:
Vundo: If you would share with us knowledge of your world, it would be a tremendous asset to Luxium.
Samael: I would love to share what I know...
Samael: It's just...
Vundo: What's wrong? If there's anything that I or the Arcana Academy can do for you, we will do it!
A few moments later, Vundo leaves the airship, satisfied.
Player: I didn't expect this to go so smoothly. We've already gotten the recommendation of two Never Isle organizations.
Samael: (smiles)
Player: I knew that Principal Vundo would be fascinated by you, you being a traveler from another world and all, but I had no idea...
Player: That you knew so much about flux and arcana! Incredible!
Samael: Humph!
Samael: The foundational energy structure of this world prevents me from wielding my true power...
Samael: Of course I have a lot to say about it!
Player: Hahaha.
Samael: That human gave me this when he left just now.
Samael tosses you a bag full of money.
Samael: I can't use these human things, so I'll give them to you.
Player: Uh...
Player: Come on, don't say that.
Player: This is a token of how sincere Principal Vundo was when he invited you to be chair professor.
Player: And since you want to travel around Luxium, you'll need currency.
Player: Besides, don't you want to bring your family and friends some souvenirs when your trip is over?
Samael: (smiles)
Samael: You're right~

-Intimacy Level 10
Never Isle, at a certain bar.
Player: Come on. Let's celebrate Samael's induction as a member of Never Isle! Cheers!
Miles: Cheers!
Izumi: Cheers!
Samael: (smiles)
Everyone downs their drinks...
Miles: Ha! This is good stuff!
Miles: I never expected, Izumi, that your inflexible Defense Force would be willing to give Samael a recommendation.
Izumi: Don't talk about us like that.
Izumi: Samael helped us deal with the White Capes reconnaissance ship that infiltrated Lake Bliss.
Izumi: Without him, Never Isle's location might've been revealed!
Izumi: He did us a great service. Mira's thrilled about it~
Samael: She's thrilled?
Samael: She held me prisoner at the Defense Force jail while they investigated me for a whole day... you call that 'thrilled'?
Izumi: Well... Uh...
Player: It was only a day, and it seems like Mira really is happy~
Player: Well, anyway. Mira was willing to recommend Samael on behalf of the Defense Force. That's good enough.
Miles: Haha! In celebration of my brother Samael's first day on the island!
Miles: This one's on me. Bottoms up! Let's get drunk!
Player: Got it!
Samael: (Toasts)
A few moments later...
Samael: And then! I put my foot on the dark hunter that had been chasing me, and I said...
Samael: Submit to me! Or else...
Samael: I'll pluck the fur from your body one strand at a time!
Player: Gulp...
Samael: Those winged bastards were so scared they pissed themselves!
Miles: Ha! Good thing I'm not your enemy.
Izumi: Why does it feel like Samael is the real dark hunter, hahaha!!!
Samael suddenly stands up, takes out his Hellfire Trident, and waves it in the air...
Samael: I...am the son of the God of Hell...
Samael: Become ash...or become my slave...
Samael: The choice is yours...mortal!
Izumi: To be honest, you scare me Samael...
Miles: Interesting...
Player: Samael, you should become an actor!
Samael: Hahahaha!
Suddenly, someone mutters in a low voice...
???: What degeneracy!
You turn around to see the Kaist Official in charge of approving residence permit applications.
Player: It's you...
Miles: What did you say?
Kaist Official: Have the Oathblades and Defense Force lost their minds?
Miles: How dare you insult the Oathblades!
Miles shakes his fist, but is stopped by Samael.
Samael: You are an Oathblades captain, and I am Chair Professor at the Arcana Academy.
Samael: And he...
Samael: Is just a down-and-out human who will never be satisfied.
Samael: What's the use in getting angry at someone like that?
Kaist Official: You...
Kaist Official: Humph!
With that, the Kaist Official storms out of the tavern in a huff.
Player: (smiles)
Player: Come on! It's my turn to tell a story!

-Intimacy Level 11
Note: all of Samael's dates take place before this point.
Morning, on the bridge of the airship.
Billy: Morning, Captain!
Player: Morning, Billy.
Player: Is Samael up?
Billy: He went out early this morning, as usual.
Player: Ever since he got his residence permit, he's been leaving early and coming back late every day.
Player: I haven't had one of his flaming cocktails in two months.
Billy: He often goes to the Arcana Academy to deliver lectures. The Oathblades also like asking him for help.
Billy: And sometimes he even helps us complete our tasks.
Billy: Samael's a busy guy these days.
Player: I remember the first time we met him.
Player: He was so intimidating!
Billy: Looks like all your worries were for naught.
Billy: He really does seem to be a traveler from another world.
Player: ...
Player: Yeah...
Just then, the airship's communicator rings.
Billy: Oh...
Billy: This is Billy. Who's this?
Samael's Communicator: Is Player up?
Player: Good morning, Samael. Where have you run off to today?
Samael's Communicator: Hahaha, I haven't run off anywhere.
Samael's Communicator: Since you're up, Player...
Samael's Communicator: Please help me check the airship's mailbox. Something I need may have arrived.
Player: Mailbox?
Billy: Something did come in just now.
Billy: So it's Samael's...
Player: (Picks up package)
Player: Oh...
Player: A Never Isle Commercial Permit?
Player: The scope of business is...
Player: Lodging and Accommodation'?!
Never Isle, in front of the hotel being renovated.
Samael: Hey, you're here.
Samael: Now that I've got this commercial license, my hotel will be open soon.
Player: So, you're really going to open a hotel?
Samael: Yep.
Samael: I can't eat your food, drink your wine, and use your stuff forever.
Samael: I still need to buy some stuff for myself.
Player: (surprised)
Samael: Having spent a few days on the island, I've found that what the people of Never Isle need most...
Samael: Is a place where they can totally relax.
Samael: I'm opening this hotel so that people can let go~
Samael: The price is intimate, the service is top-notch. When you're tired, Player, you're free to come here and relax.
Player: (surprised)
Player: Definitely!
Samael: I said that I wanted to learn more about this world.
Samael: Well, business is a part of that.
Player: (surprised)
Player: Samael, you're a traveler proficient in flame arcana.
Player: Now you're going to run your own business.
Player: You're really something. What other talents do you have that I don't know about?
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: Haha...
Player: But you've gotta work on being a better friend!
Player: Why didn't you tell me you've been setting up a hotel these past two months?
Player: If you'd let me know, I could've helped out~
Samael: Player...
Samael: You've helped me enough.
Samael: You've got things you need to do in this world too, don't you?
Samael: You're also busy...
Samael: I can't keep bothering you with my personal stuff.
Player: (surprised)
Player: Yeah, you're right. We've all got stuff we need to do.
Samael: By the way, Player, my room at the hotel has finished renovations.
Samael: So tonight, I won't be sleeping at the airship.
Player: All right!
Samael: Well then, I'm going back to the hotel to get things ready.
Player: Okay!
Samael turns to leave
Player: Samael!
Samael: Huh?
Player: If there's anything I can do to help, be sure to let me know!
Player: Don't forget, that's what friends are for!
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: Let me know if you run into unsavory characters.
Samael: I'll burn them to a crisp for you.
Player: All right.
Samael and Player part ways
Later...
Samael: Player...
Samael: (sad)
Samael: ...

-Intimacy Level 12
Nighttime, on a side street on Never Isle.
The street is lined with people, making the narrow path even more crowded than it usually is.
Player: Sorry, sorry! Coming through! Coming through!
Billy: Where did all these people come from?
Billy: Are they selling tickets to the Rupor Show year-end special in advance?
Player: No way. If tickets to the Rupor Show were on sale, you'd be the first to know!
Billy: Then what could it be?
A few moments later...
You and Billy finally squeeze your way out of the crowd and reach the port.
Player: Phew... I can finally breathe.
Player: They were lining up to book a room in Samael's hotel...
Billy: Book a room at Samael's hotel?
Billy: That many people lining up just to stay in a hotel?
Billy: Is that...possible?
Player: I've heard that the beds in Samael's hotel are as soft as orc fluff, and as gentle and warm as the rising sun...
Player: A night's stay there is not only refreshing, but you'll also feel rejuvenated and alive the next day.
Player: Rumors say that if a pair of lovers stay in Samael's hotel, all their burdens and grudges will be washed away...
Player: And that they will enjoy a love life together full of devotion and purity.
Billy: Wow! Really?
Player: Samael invited me to stay for a night once.
Player: The room design is fantastic. Samael has even prepared spices like they do in his hometown.
Player: When you sleep, the wall glows slightly with fire light. It's really comfy.
Player: It's an experience Never Isle has never known before. No wonder so many people are lining up.
Billy: Ah... Just talking about it makes me feel sleepy!
Samael: Okay! I'll arrange a room for you tonight!
Player: Samael? How did you...
Player: Oh!
You notice that an 'old acquaintance' standing at Samael's side.
Player: Aren't you the Kaist Official in charge of approving residence permits?
Kaist Official: H-hello!
Player: Samael's running a legitimate business. What do you think you're doing?
Samael: It's okay, Player. He's not here to cause trouble for me.
Samael: In fact, he's a regular customer of mine!
Player: Oh?
Kaist Official: I am Lord Samael's dog! Ah no... His regular customer!
Player: Huh?
Kaist Official: How foolish I was before, putting faith in the fallacies of radical Kaism...
Kaist Official: I believed that as the children of Ka, we should renounce desire...
Kaist Official: But obviously, desire and love are the supreme values a human being can pursue!
Kaist Official: I was simply a fool in the past - a sin that cannot be forgiven!
Player: (surprised)
Player: Your thinking was a little extreme before.
Kaist Official: Lord Samael. Let's...let's get started.
Samael: Okay~ Okay~ You'll get your satisfaction soon enough.
Samael: I'm sorry, Player. I have matters to attend to. Good-bye.
Player: Okay. Bye-bye~
Samael and the Kaist Official disappear into the crowd.
Player: Seems like people really can change.
Player: Billy, you have no idea how stubborn that Kaist Official used to be.
Billy: (serious)
Player: Billy?
Player: What are you thinking about?
Billy: Didn't you notice, Captain?
Player: What?
Billy: There was something off about that guy with Samael.
Billy: I felt like... It's like...
Billy: He was being controlled.
Continue to Trifle - The Cost I

-Intimacy Level 13
Noon the next day, at a restaurant in Red Harbor.
Never Isle Daily: Never Isle authorities claim to have no insight into the mass amnesia event that occurred at noon yesterday.
Never Isle Daily: The Academy, Oathblades, Order of Equality, and Defense Force issued a statement that an investigation is underway.
Billy: Hmm...
Player: What are you reading, Billy?
Billy: The Never Isle Daily. The investigation of that strange incident yesterday hasn't found anything yet.
Player: All right, stop thinking about it.
Player: Prepare the airship. We should go back!
Billy: I know! But, Captain...
Billy: Think about it. If we get amnesia along the way...
Billy: If we lose consciousness and are stripped of our awareness...
Billy: That would be really dangerous, no?
Player: ...
Suddenly, you feel as if someone is watching you from a distance...
Player: Ugh! (Shakes head furiously)
Billy: What's wrong, Captain?
Player: It's...nothing.
Player: (I must be imagining things.)
Over the next few weeks, life nearly returns to normal.
Traveling around Luxium every day is busy and fulfilling.
There's just one problem...
Billy: Captain, do you feel that? Someone's following us!
Player: Yes. He's been following us for weeks.
Billy: Why don't we catch him?
Player: Hmm...
Player: (The man has a kind and gentle gaze.)
Player: (And there's something familiar about him...)
Player: Forget it, he doesn't mean us any harm.
Billy: All right...
Billy: Oh, Captain! We've received a distress signal from the Oathblades!
Billy: It's Miles. He's not far from here!
Later, in the forest south of Never Isle.
Miles: Ugh. How dare these Shadows plot against me!
Oathblades Warrior A: Brother Wolf! We can't hold out any longer!
Miles: Stay strong! Reinforcements will be here soon!
Oathblades Warrior B: Oh... We could really use that guy right now...
Oathblades Warrior B: He'd burn these bastards to ash with a single flame!
Miles: Yeah...
Oathblades Warrior C: That guy? Brother Wolf... Who are you talking about?
Miles: I'm talking about...
Miles: Oh... Someone's coming...
Player: Miles! Snap out of it!
Player: Billy! Shell the Shadows!
Miles: Ugh... Brothers, get back in formation. Get ready to launch a counter-offensive!
Oathblades Warrior: Yes, sir!
A few moments later...
The Shadows are repelled, and you along with the Oathblades Warriors clear out the battlefield.
Miles: Thank you, Player!
Player: There's no need to thank me. You know me better than that!
Oathblades Warrior: A massive Shadow Monster just pounced on me.
Oathblades Warrior: Suddenly, a giant pillar of flames appeared from the ground and the monster was immediately burned to death.
Oathblades Warrior: I expected as much of you, Player! What power!
Player: A giant pillar of flames?
Player: Ow... (Clutches head)
Miles: What's wrong, are you hurt?
Player: Ugh... No...
Player: (You turn and look toward the man who has been watching you in secret.)
Player: ...
Player: Sam...Samael...
For an instant, you remember everything about Samael.
Player: Samael... (Walks off)
Miles: Where are you going?
Player: Samael. Samael is over there.
Player: Ugh... (You stop)
Player: (I remember that the last time I had a memory of Samael, my consciousness got blurry.)
Player: (Samael had gathered the energy of the Ring of Desire, and then disappeared.)
Player: (Now it seems like Samael used the power from the Ring of Desire to remove all trace of his existence from this world.)
Player: ...
Player: (If I can remember Samael, then if others see him, they probably will, too...)
Player: (Erasing all trace of your own existence has already consumed too much energy. If the people of Never Isle remember what he did...)
Player: (Samael will be in real danger!)
Player: I can't. I just can't...
Player: (Turns back around and walks toward Miles.)
Miles: Player?
Player: Ah, I'm okay, just a little tired.
Player: Let's head on back.

-Intimacy Level 14
Northwestern Luxium, near the Loong Mountains.
Boom!!!
Billy: We're hit!
Billy: Our engine has stalled, we're losing altitude.
Billy: Captain! Kitty! Hold onto something! We're going to fall!
A few moments later...
Billy: Cough, cough, cough!
Kitty: Whoa... Am I in heaven?
Player: Sorry to disappoint you, you're alive and well.
Moments later, Billy kicks open the airship hatch.
You exit the smoking, smoldering airship.
Kitty: Oh!
Billy: What is this place?
You remember that the airship fell into the Loong Mountains, however...
The ground beneath your feet is as dark as the gaping maw of the abyss...
The sunlight here is a dark purple...
There's nothing around you...
Player: This is the other side of the Loong Mountains.
Player: The Shadowland.
Billy: What?!
Kitty: There's no way...
Kitty: If only we could've known, we wouldn't have brought supplies to the Shadowhunters on the front lines in the Loong Mountains.
Player: Try to fix the airship, Billy. I need to find us a way out of here!
Billy: Got it!
Suddenly, there were several dark red flashes in the wilderness.
Player: This feeling - it's the Shadows! The Shadows are coming!
Player: Kitty, prepare for battle. We need to cover Billy while he repairs the airship!
A few moments later...
Billy: Oh!
Billy: The airship won't be easy to fix.
Player: What?
Shadows: Growl...
Kitty: The Shadows are advancing!
Player: Uh...
Player: Is this the end?
??????: Hrrrraahhh!!!
All of a sudden, a pair of massive, dark red wings descend from the sky...
In an instant, the temperature rises sharply.
The flames of hell burst through the earth, and a crimson glow fills the dark wilderness of the Shadowland.
Soon, the Shadows have no choice but to retreat.
??????: Are you hurt?
Kitty: We're...saved...
Kitty: W-Who are you?
Player: Sam...Samael...
Samael: Oh!
Samael: Player, what are you -
Shadows: You lowly mortals dare set foot in the Shadowland?!
Shadows: In the name of the Shadowlord, I bring you death!
Samael: There's too many of them. Hold on to me!
Samael embraces you tightly.
He vigorously flaps his wings and takes you into the sky.
Later, in Luxium's western desert.
Samael: Phew... We should be safe here.
Samael sets you down.
Player: Samael...
Billy: Huh? You know this guy?
Kitty: Now that you mention it... I think I've seen you before.
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: No... We've never met. I don't know you.
With that, Samael turns to leave.
Player: Hold on, Samael.
Player: Don't go!
You hug him from behind.
Samael: Player, you...
Player: I remember you! I remember everything that happened between us!
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: No... You don't remember!
Samael: You should forget about me!
Player: I know you've been following me all this time, and have been quietly protecting me.
Player: I've always known...
Player: I also know, that in order to protect me, you avoided me.
Player: Because of the rules that govern this world, because of the shackles with which this world binds us, we have no choice...
Player: This world won't let me remember you, but...
Player: I love you, Samael. I will always remember you! Always...
Player: From the bottom of my heart, I love you!
Samael: (sad)
Samael: Player!
Samael turns around and tightly embraces you again.
Player: (smiles)
Billy: Kitty, let's go see if there are any towns nearby, and get some food.
Kitty: Got it!
A few moments later...
Player: Oh... Samael...
Player: I haven't felt like this in a long time...
Samael: ...
Player: You're not happy?
Samael: ...
Samael: Player...
Samael: Today, I wanted to take one last look at you from a distance.
Player: One last look? Oh...
Player: You're going to leave?
Samael: Yes. Something has happened in the Underworld. My father is in danger!
Samael: Our enemies have attacked us. The Underworld's energy can no longer maintain the passageway between worlds.
Samael: I need to go back.
Player: ...
Player: If the passageway is impacted, that means...
Samael: I don't know if I will be able to come back.
Player: !!
Player: ...
Player: We... We've only just met.
Player: And you're...leaving?
Samael: Yes...
Player: So in the future...
Player: I might never see you again?
Player: I...
Player: But you lost your original strength when you were kicked out.
Player: If you go back...won't that be a death sentence?
Samael: I've still got some energy left from when I was collecting it to craft the Ring of Desire.
Samael: Although I'm nothing compared to my prime, I can still recover a bit.
Samael: I cannot let my father and my clansmen face the enemy alone!
Player: ...
Player: You...
Player: ...
Samael: I don't want to leave, either, Player.
Samael: I want to watch you from a distance and protect you forever!
Player: Samael...
Player: ...
Player: ...
Player: Samael...
Player: I promised you that I would help you return to your father's side...
Player: Your father is in danger, he needs you more than I do!
Player: You are the Demon God of the Underworld.
Player: You have to go back!
Samael: And yet, I've found love again. I've rediscovered the feeling of love.
Player: Love...is eternal.
You look up at the sky.
Player: Your world is above this sky, is it not?
Player: Since you will be above the sky, then I will break through the sky and find you.
Player: The barriers between our worlds cannot stop me, cannot stop my love!
Samael: (surprised)
Player: Go on back. I will be thinking of you. I will pray for you...
Player: Take care of yourself...
Player: I will come for you!
Samael: !!
Samael: I will always, always remember you and everything that happened between us!
Samael: Player, thank you...
Samael spreads his massive wings and takes off into the sky, quickly disappearing into the clouds.
Player: Sniffle... Sniffle...
Player: (Wipes tears)
Player: I will come for you, Samael...

Sweetness

-Intro
Hottie bar
Billy: Captain, Mike Team brought us some of Choji's pastries.
Billy: They said it was a thank-you gift for your help last time.
Player: Mike is too kind...
Player: However, Choji's pastries are a rare treat.
Billy: Yep~
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: (Looks this way)
Samael: (Turns and leaves)
Player: Samael?
Player: (Give Samael some pastries)
Player: Try one, Samael.
Player: Without your help, the commission we did for Mike wouldn't have gone so smoothly.
Player: Choji is a famous cook in Never Isle. Everything he makes is delicious!
Samael: (smiles)
Samael: Well, since you offered...
Samael: (Picks up a piece of cake and puts it in his mouth)
Samael: Oh!
Player: Samael!
Samael: Mmm...
Player: Are you choking? I'll get some water!
Samael: No, that won't be necessary.
Samael: I'm not choking.
Samael: It's just...this cake...
Samael: It's delicious!
Player: (surprised)
Samael: The food in this world is always pursuing the inexplicable.
Samael: Stuff like drinks and wine, in order to be 'healthy'...
Samael: Are all diluted swill. What's the point?
Samael: The same goes for cakes and desserts.
Samael: But this cake not only uses plenty of sugar...
Samael: But it's also got honey and fresh milk.
Samael: When the cake melts in your mouth, it is sweet and exquisite, but also fresh and tasty...
Samael: It's really good!
Player: (surprised)
Samael: Huh? Did I say something wrong?

-Taste is important, but we also need to watch our health. - 700 Intimacy
Player: You'll get fat if you eat too much sweet stuff.
Player: If you are too fat, you will get sick more easily. Whatever pleasure you get from it won't be worth the misery.
Player: Choji's pastries are good, but they must be enjoyed in moderation.
Samael: I know!
Samael: Human beings want to live longer.
Samael: But in order to live longer, they give up countless pleasures and subject themselves to suffering.
Samael: I don't get it.
Player: (smiles)
Player: Yes, life is very short. That's why there's nothing more precious than time.
Player: By giving up a little food, you can buy yourself a few years' worth of time.
Player: If it makes you happy, why not?
Samael: All right...
Samael: Since you don't want to eat it, that just means more for me.
Player: No problem!

-You're right! Who would want to eat cake that isn't sweet? - 700 Intimacy
Samael: Yes, great minds think alike!
Player: I didn't expect you to know so much about desserts, Samael.
Samael: My people and I have long lifespans.
Samael: We have lots of time to learn and really dive into our interests.
Player: So you're fond of dessert, Samael?
Samael: Sometimes my mouth gets a little bored.
Samael: I wouldn't say I'm overly fond of it.
Player: (smiles)
Player: You like it, you just don't want to admit it.
Player: When I'm out and about in the future...
Player: I'll be sure to bring back a few pieces of any delicious dessert that I find.
Samael: (happy)

-Life is short, and cake is a rare treat. - 900 Intimacy
Samael: Oh?
Player: Where I come from, we have lots of legends and fables that say...
Player: A person's life is suffering.
Player: Life is impermanent, and it is full of disappointments and challenges.
Player: Since we walk bitter paths, our hearts also become bitter...
Player: So you need to add a little sweetness to your life, otherwise you won't be able to keep on going.
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: You can say that again.
Samael: (smiles)
Samael: (Breaks his cake in two and hands you a piece)
Samael: Eat...
Samael: Life is short. Enjoy it while you can~

Hometown

-Intro
On the Airship bridge.
There is a fire on the floor.
Samael sits next to the fire, watching the flickering flames.
His expression is serious.
Samael: ...
Player: Samael?
Billy: Whoa?! You started a fire?!
Billy: Samael, you can't start fires on the bridge!
Samael: ...
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: I'll put it out.
Samael extinguishes the fire and gets ready to go back to his room.
Player: (Stop Samael)
Player: Go on, Billy.
Player: Hold on, Samael.
Samael: ...
Player: Are you okay?
Samael: Uh...
Samael: I'm fine.
Player: You don't look fine.
Player: What was that fire about just now?
Samael: ...
Samael: *Sigh*...
Samael: It was a message from my people.
Player: Oh!
Player: A message that crossed between worlds. From your world...
Samael: Yeah, that's right.
Player: What?!
Player: Oh...

-How is that even possible? - 500 Intimacy
Player: Communication that crosses between worlds...
Player: How can the barrier between worlds be crossed?
Player: Oh! Now that you mention it, when you came to Luxium...
Player: The Arcana Academy didn't detect any abnormal flux waves in the world.
Player: How could that be?
Samael: ...
Samael: Crossings that affect the composition of the world's energy are usually forced crossings.
Samael: It's true that there are barriers between different worlds, but there are also passageways.
Player: Passageways?
Samael: Yes. As long as you find the passageway, it is easier to enter other worlds, and it won't affect the composition of the world's energy.
Player: So you're saying...
Player: I also forced my way into Luxium.
Player: Which means that, as long as I can find the passageway between Luxium and Earth...
Player: Samael, I need your help!
Samael: ...
Samael: I can't help you.
Samael: I came to Luxium on behalf of my people, and I used my clan's power to do so.
Samael: I don't know the exact principles behind traveling between worlds.
Samael: Anyway...
Samael: I'm not in a very good mood today. If you'll excuse me.

-Was it bad news? > (Doesn't seem like Samael wants to elaborate further. I'd better drop it) - 700 Intimacy
Samael: ...
Player: You need to go back?
Samael: As I am now...
Samael: There wouldn't be any point in going back.
Samael: ...
Samael: But don't worry, I'll be fine.
Samael: It's just a small family matter. My clan can handle it!
Player: (Doesn't seem like Samael wants to elaborate further. I'd better drop it)
Player: All right...
Player: Take care of yourself. If you need to talk, just let me know.

-Was it bad news? > (Samael seems perturbed. I'd better help him) - 900 Intimacy
Samael: ...
Player: You need to go back?
Samael: As I am now...
Samael: There wouldn't be any point in going back.
Samael: ...
Samael: But don't worry, I'll be fine.
Samael: It's just a small family matter. My clan can handle it!
Player: (Samael seems perturbed. I'd better help him)
Player: Sounds like you've got people you really care about back in your own world.
Samael: (surprised)
Player: Why else would you be so worried?
Samael: Yeah...
Player: To be honest, I envy you. You're still able to receive news from home.
Player: It's been a...long time since I had any contact with home.
Samael: Ah yes, you're also not a native of Luxium.
Player: Yeah.
Samael: Aren't you...worried?
Player: What good would worrying do?
Player: You would feel useless if you went back, I can't go back at all.
Player: Since neither of us can go back, then what we can do...
Player: Is take care of our responsibilities here in Luxium.
Player: Don't worry your family anymore...
Samael: (surprised)
Player: Anyway. Whatever happened, Samael, cheer up!
Samael: ...
Samael: Yes. I still have things to do here in Luxium.
Samael: Humph...
Samael: Sorry for worrying you.
Player: Then why don't you make me a flaming cocktail as thanks!
Samael: (smiles)
Samael: Is that all you want? Nothing else?

Tragic Story

-Intro
In the Hottie Bar on the airship.
Samael: Here you go, Player!
Samael tosses a book into your hands.
At first glance, you recognize it as the novel you gave him two days earlier.
Samael: Huff, puff...
Player: (Samael seems angry)
Player: What's wrong? You didn't like it?
Samael: Not only did I not like it...
Samael: It was absolute trash!
Player: Uh...
Player: Not likely. This is one of the year's best-selling novels. It's won a bunch of awards.
Player: I read it and thought that it was pretty well-written.
Samael: Ridiculous!
Player: ...
Player: (Ask him to elaborate)
Player: Calm down, Samael.
Player: There's no need to get worked up over a little book, is there?
Samael: Sigh...
Samael: ...
Samael: When a book like this becomes a global best-seller, people are only going to get hurt!
Player: Uh...
Player: You're starting to worry me.
Player: What's wrong with the book?
Samael: This book isn't finished!
Samael: The two male protagonists in the novel experience hardship, suffer the hypocrisy of the world, and they have their disagreements...
Samael: Then when they finally reconcile, the novel just ends?
Samael: It's ridiculous!
Player: ...
Player: Hmm... The novel's got a complete structure, the logic more or less makes sense, and the story comes back around to the foreshadowing.
Player: I think it's a good ending.
Samael: No!
Samael: It doesn't address the most crucial and thought-provoking part of the last half!
Samael: There needs to be a betrayal!
Player: Betrayal?
Samael: The second protagonist's family background and his childhood experience are foreshadowing.
Samael: After he gets together with the first protagonist, he's definitely going to succumb to his desire for a material life.
Samael: In the end, it's inevitable that he will betray his lover and stab him in the back!
Samael: In the end, the first protagonist will be a broken man. He'll have nothing!
Player: ...
Player: (I think he's reading too much into this. The novel has a good ending.)
Player: I understand why you say that, but they went through so much together.
Player: I don't think they'd betray one another.
Samael shakes his head.
Samael: You're so naive, Player!
Samael: Humans change!
Samael: I've seen too much, experienced too much...
Samael: Love is a lie!
Samael: Everything ends in betrayal!
Player: ...
Player: (Samael's injecting his own experience and feelings into it. No wonder...)

-Whatever happened to you in the past, it's not your fault! - 900 Intimacy
Samael: H-How did you know?
Player: You want to warn the first protagonist - warn everyone - that the sweetness of love is a lie.
Player: You don't want anyone to experience what you've had to go through.
Player: That's why you're angry.
Samael: You don't know what I've been through. How can you...
Player: I don't know what you've been through, but I do know that it's not your fault!
Samael: I don't know...
Player: I know. It's not your fault!
Samael: (angry)
Samael: That bastard betrayed me! Of course it's not my fault!
Player: So don't stop punishing yourself for his mistakes!
Samael: (surprised)
Player: Especially since he's the bastard who stabbed you in the back!
Player: It's not worth it!
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: ...
Player: Forget about him. For your own sake.
Samael: That's easy to say...
Samael: But it will take time...
Samael: ...
Samael: Can you lend me that book again? I want to give it another read.
Player: Sure!

-I want to hear your story... - 500 Intimacy
Player: Seems like Samael has a story even more interesting than the novel's.
Player: Would you be willing to share...
Samael: No!
Player: Uh...
Samael: It's...
Samael: A past that is darker than the abyss.
Samael: ...

-Fiction isn't real. It requires some imagination. - 700 Intimacy
Player: Biographies and history books never tell the full truth, to say nothing of novels.
Player: Reality is bare enough as it is.
Player: If the literature and art become too real...
Player: That wouldn't be very interesting, would it?
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: You're right.
Samael: But people can't run from reality forever!
Player: Well, people will always need a little escapism.
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: Humph! Enough chit-chat.
Samael: Do you have any other books?
Samael: Lend me some more.
Player: (smiles)

The Cost I

When the man who has nothing finally gets what he desires is when he truly loses everything.

-Part 1
Samael: This is Samael.
Samael: I have come to a world called Luxium. This is Day...er...
Samael: I don't know how many days I've been here.
Samael: Whatever, that's not important.
Samael: My plan will come to fruition soon.
Samael: The ring of lust is about to appear.
Samael: Even I didn't expect everything to go this smoothly.
Samael: In the beginning, I simply thought it was worth a shot.
Samael: Using this world's money, I established this love hotel.
Samael: Who could have known that it would only take two weeks.
Samael: Those Gyees can't get enough of it.
Samael: Our daily regulars could fill a line two blocks long!
Samael: This hotel complies with local regulations on paper, offering only accommodations...
Samael: But in fact, every Gyee who stays here can fulfill their deepest desires.
Samael: For my part, I sign legally binding agreements with them, making them my slaves...
Samael: So that I can squeeze every last drop of desire out of them.
Samael: The locals know this violates local regulations...
Samael: But there isn't one who can refuse the desire in their heart.
Samael: Gyees, after all, are only human...
Samael: And the human heart is nothing if not simple.
Samael: It's all thanks to Player.
Samael: The power of the Alterland Chieftain's desire is abundant and delectable, but...
Samael: It is nothing compared to the power of the countless Gyees of Never Isle!
Samael: Thank you, Player.
Samael: Player...
Samael: Ah! Don't think so much!
Samael: Don't forget the whole reason you suffered the humiliation of coming to this world for so long!
Samael: To a mere human like him, it is an honor to be used by me!
Samael: (angry)
Samael: I cannot become weak again!
Samael: Enough. I'll end today's entry here.
Samael: Soon, I will have collected enough power to craft the Ring of Desire.
Samael: I will prove how strong I am, Father...
Samael: I will reclaim the mantle of Demon God of the Underworld, Lord of Desire...
Samael: I will regain the glory that was always mine!
Samael: Now, the plan is entering its final moments!
Samael: I must focus on running the hotel and collecting the last bit of desire from the Gyees.
Samael: No one, nothing, can get in my way.
Someone knocks on the hotel's door
Samael: ...
Samael: Nothing can get in my way...
The knocking continues
Samael: Nothing can get in my way...
Samael: Who is it? The hotel is closed during the day!
Billy: Mr. Samael, it's Billy. Can I come in?
Samael: Billy? I remember, he's...
Samael meets Billy outside the entrance
Billy: Mr. Samael, have you seen Captain Player today?
Samael: Player? He hasn't been in to see me today.
Billy: The Captain didn't come see you?
Billy: Dang...
Samael: What's wrong?
Billy: The Captain... The Captain is missing!
Samael: What? Missing?!
Billy: I've checked all the places he might've gone, all the people he might've visited...
Billy: I can't find him anywhere.
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: Report this to the Defense Force.
Samael: I'll go find him!
Samael leaves quickly
Billy: Samael?
Billy: Calm down, Billy!
Billy: Just go to the Defense Force.
Earlier that day.
Off to the side in one of Never Isle's alleys, an arcanist secretly meets with a young man
Gloomy Arcanist: How is it going?
Strange-looking Youth: I got... I got the data.
Gloomy Arcanist: It's right here...
Strange-looking Youth: Huff, puff...
Gloomy Arcanist: Are you... Are you okay?
Strange-looking Youth: I'm fine, but if it weren't for the arcana defense crystal you gave me...
Strange-looking Youth: I might have...defected...
Gloomy Arcanist: There is something off about that Samael!
Player happens to stroll by the alley and hears someone say Samael's name
Player: Huh? I think I heard...
The arcanist and youth continue their conversation
Gloomy Arcanist: We have to tell the master!
Strange-looking Youth: Yeah...
Player: ...
Strange-looking Youth: Let's go!
Gloomy Arcanist: What's wrong?
Strange-looking Youth: Someone's watching us!
Gloomy Arcanist: Ugh... Here!
The two run away and Player gives chase, pausing where the two once stood
Player: What are they up to?
Player: There are traces of arcana here...
Player: Oh!
Player: A tiny amount of Shadow Flux!
Player: Which is to say, the 'master' they spoke of...
Player: I must pursue them!
Player catches up to the pair
Player: Don't move!
Strange-looking Youth: Uh...
Gloomy Arcanist: Hello, can I help you?
Player: Stop pretending! What is your relationship with the Shadows?
Player: Don't resist. You don't stand a chance against me!
Gloomy Arcanist: We won't surrender without a fight!
Suddenly, two Defense Force swordsmen run up to Player
Defense Force Swordsman: Defense Force! Don't move!
Player: You came just in time. These two are spies!
Player: Back me up. We'll get him!
Defense Force Swordsman: Got it!
As Player turns back to the arcanist, one of the Defense Force swordsmen attacks Player from behind, knocking him out
Player: Oh...
Player: Ugh...
Gloomy Arcanist: Take them to our stronghold and clean up all the evidence!
Defense Force Swordsman: Yes, sir!
Strange-looking Youth: Aren't we going to kill him?
Gloomy Arcanist: This is Player, a famous figure on Never Isle!
Gloomy Arcanist: Our superiors may be interested in him! We'll bring him back first.
Strange-looking Youth: Understood!
Now...
Somewhere on Never Isle.
Player: Oh...
Player: My head...
Player is underground, trapped in an arcana array
Player: What is this place?
Player: I remember being knocked unconscious by Shadow spies disguised as members of the Defense Force.
Player: I got careless.
Player: There are no signs of teleportation arcana on me. I must still be on Never Isle.
Player: ...
Player looks around and notices the arcanist and youth talking nearby
They haven't noticed Player
Shadow Spy A: Based on the data you brought back...
Shadow Spy A: This man, Samael, is doing some kind of mind control experiment.
Shadow Spy A: It would seem he's extracting energy from Gyees.
Shadow Spy A: His experiment is still in an early stage. There must be something bigger behind this!
Player: Samael?
Shadow Spy B: That explains the floaty feeling I had staying in that hotel, like my spirit was leaving my body.
Shadow Spy B: A mind control experiment.
Shadow Spy B: Could Samael be a secret weapon developed by Never Isle?
Shadow Spy A: Take this data and send it back to the Shadowland with Player!
Player: The Shadowland? Uh oh!
Player: I need to find a way out of this...
Player probes the array but gets shocked
Player: Whoa!
Shadow Spy A: You're awake.
Shadow Spy A: Do not struggle. This confinement array is the latest achievement of the Arcana Academy.
Shadow Spy A: It cannot be broken from the inside!
Player: What are you up to?
Shadow Spy A: We are going to teleport you out of Never Isle...
Player: ...
A Shadow Mage runs up to the arcanist spy
Shadow Mage: My lord, the portal array is almost ready!
Shadow Spy A: Understood. This will teleport Player away from here.
Shadow Spy A: Never Isle will detect our activity, so have everyone get ready.
A few moments later...
The arcanist spy and youth spy (now in Shadow Warrior armor) takes Player to a different room where two Shadow Mages begin to open the portal
Many other Shadow Warriors guard the room
Player: Ugh... Is there really nothing that I can do?
Suddenly, giant flames burn most of the Shadow Warriors
Once the flames die down, Samael and Billy along with multiple Defense Force Warriors converge
Defense Force Warrior: This is the Defense Force. Don't move!
Shadow Spy A: No... Quickly, finish the array!
Player: What are you going to do?
The arcanist spy dispels the array around Player
Shadow Spy A: I'm going to use you as a bargaining chip...
The Shadow Spy pulls a dagger out of his sleeve and puts it to your neck.
Shadow Spy A: Don't come any closer!
Billy: Captain!
Player: Oh...
Samael: Let him go, or I will burn you to ash!
Shadow Spy A: I'll slit his throat before your flames can burn me!
Samael: Oh...
Defense Force Warrior: Let Player go! There's no escape!
Shadow Spy A: Oh? Is that so?
The Shadow Mages open the portal
Samael: Whoa!!
Billy: They're going to get away!
Shadow Spy A: Hahaha! Farewell, you fools!
Samael: ...
Samael: ...
Samael's anger rises
Player: Wow! This Flux...
Shadow Spy A: Activate the portal. Let's go!
The Shadow Mages just stand there
Shadow Spy A: Start the array! Are you deaf?!
Shadow Mage: ...
Shadow Spy B: Hey! Why are you just standing...
Shadow Spy A: What happened? What's wrong?
Player: (This unique Flux wave... It's Samael!)
Suddenly, the youth spy attacks the arcanist spy
Defense Force Warrior: What... What is happening? They're rebelling?
Samael: What are you standing around for? Save Player!
Defense Force Warrior: Oh... Yes, sir!
A few moments later...
Defense Force Warrior: The spies are right under our noses!
Defense Force Warrior: Take them back and interrogate them!
Billy and Samael check on Player
Billy: Captain!
Player: Samael... You came...
Samael: Are you okay, Player?
Player: I...
Player: I'm fine...
Player collapses
Samael: Player!!
Later that night, on Never Isle.
In the lab at Samael's hotel.
Samael: ...
Samael: What was I thinking?
Samael: Now the Defense Force knows that I possess the ability to bewitch and control others.
Samael: They will definitely be on guard now.
Samael: Ugh...
???: Lord Samael.
Samael's Kaist Offical thrall approaches
Samael: (angry)
Kaist Official: Oh...
Samael: It's you. What is it?
Kaist Official: Lord Samael, I'm wondering... I'm wondering...
Kaist Official: When can I...
Samael: When can you what?
Kaist Official: When can I...
Kaist Official: (Looks down)
Kaist Official: (Stares at Samael's waist)
Kaist Official: Receive your supreme gift?
Samael: Perish the thought!
Kaist Official: ...
Samael: I have long sworn that I will never have relations with a human ever again!
Samael: I will never satisfy a human!
Kaist Official: Oh...
Samael: That look in your eyes...
Samael: What's wrong? Are you thinking of reporting me to the Defense Force? Are you thinking of betraying me?!
Kaist Official: What? I would never... I would never betray you!
Samael: (angry)
Samael: Get out of here!
Kaist Official: Master...
Samael: Get out!!!
The Kaist Official quickly leaves the lab
Samael: What's wrong with me today? I exposed my power again. I...
Samael: Am thinking about the past again.
Samael: What's done is done.
Samael turns his focus back on a giant floating crystal surrounded by a ring of purple energy orbs
Samael: Focus, focus!
Samael: I am almost finished collecting the power of desire...
Samael: If I'm lucky, I can finish before the Defense Force reacts.
Someone knocks on the door to the lab
Samael: Who's there?
Defense Force Warrior: Mr. Samael, this is the Defense Force. Please open the door.
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: They're already here?
Samael: (angry)
Samael quickly places an illusion on the crystal, hiding it from view
Multiple Defense Force Warriors barge into the lab
Defense Force Warrior: We have evidence that you are conducting dangerous experiments in this hotel.
Defense Force Warrior: Come with us and comply with our investigation!
Samael: ...
Samael: I understand.
The next day, in the meeting room at the Arcana Academy.
Vundo, Will, Markus and Mira meet when Player enters
Vundo: Player? Your injuries still haven't...
Player: I heard that the Defense Force has arrested Samael and has searched his hotel.
Player: Why?
Will: You're got here right on time, Player.
Will: Our investigation revealed that you're the person who had the closest contact with Samael before he came to Never Isle.
Will: Please tell us everything you can about your relationship with Samael. The more details, the better.
Player: What happened?
Mira: Yesterday we arrested a group of Shadow Spies...
Mira: After torturing them, in addition to the data they were carrying...
Mira: And the debriefing of the Defense Force Warriors, it would appear that Samael's power allowed him to force the spies to kill each other.
Player: ...
Mira: We have reason to believe that Samael is using the hotel as cover...
Mira: To carry out some sort of mind control experiment.
Mira: And the ultimate goal of that experiment is to extract from its guests...
Mira: Some kind of energy.
Player: What? When I was captured by the Shadow Spies yesterday, I overheard them talking about this.
Player: You don't believe the story those Shadow Spies were spinning, do you?
Markus: Samael is a friend of mine. I didn't want to believe it, either.
Markus: However, the guests rescued from Samael's hotel yesterday all exhibited abnormal symptoms such as confusion and overwhelming desire, to various degrees.
Markus: Especially the Kaist official.
Markus: After he left the hotel, it was like he went mad.
Player: (surprised)
Mira: Some of the Defense Force's warriors also went to Samael's hotel. After seeing the Shadows' data...
Mira: They all said they all experienced a loss of self-control while at the hotel.
Will: The Shadows may also be trying to drive a wedge between us and Samael, a possibility that we have also considered.
Will: However, all the evidence so far shows...
Will: That the Shadow Spies were carrying out a secret investigation of Samael, so the Shadows' data and their conclusions have referential value.
Player: ...
Vundo: ...
Mira: So, Player, I hope you will cooperate with our investigation.
Player: ...
Player: Samael...
Player: He's my friend...
Meanwhile, at the Defense Force jail.
Samael: ...
Samael examines the flux array that holds him in his cell
Samael: Humph. Inefficient and shoddy...
Samael: They want to trap me with this kind of array?
Samael: But I've got no choice now.
Samael: *Sigh*...
Samael: Calm down. Calm down...
Samael: The power to forge the Ring of Desire is at hand.
Samael: Breaking out and escaping Never Isle won't be difficult, but it will take a lot of the power I've painstakingly accumulated.
Samael: Moreover, even if I do get free...
Samael: The humans of this world know my power now.
Samael: Collecting the power of desire won't be as easy as before.
Samael: *Sigh*...
Samael: Is there any way, without using power...
Samael: That I can get out of here...
Samael: Player...
Samael: Ugh! Enough!
Samael: Humans are utterly unreliable!
Samael: I'll just have to figure this out myself.
Three days later, at the Defense Force jail.
Samael examines the stone walls of his cell
Samael: ...
Samael: Ahhhhh!!! Damn it!
Defense Force Warrior A: What are you yelling about?
Samael: Go away!
Defense Force Warrior A: Oh...
Defense Force Warrior B: He isn't getting out of here. Let him yell all he wants.
Defense Force Warrior A: Just...keep it down.
Samael: *Sigh*...
Samael: The walls of this jail are so sturdy.
Samael: Even if I ground my nails to dust, I wouldn't be able to get out!
Samael: But if not your nails, what will you use? A spoon?!
Samael: It's been three days...
Samael: This won't do...
Samael: ...
???: Sa... At......
???: This is... Never... and Defense... document...
Samael: That's not a guard's voice.
Samael looks out of his cell to see Player talking to the Defense Force Warriors on guard
Samael calls out to Player
Samael: Player!
Player: Samael!
Samael: How did you get in here, Player?
Player: I'm not going to leave you behind!
Player: I'm getting you out of here!
Player: You've seen the documents of the Never Isle officials and the Defense Force!
Player: Undo this array!
Defense Force Warrior B: Y...yes sir!
The array dissapears
Samael: Documents of the Never Isle officials?
Samael: How did you...
Player: We'll talk later, let's get out of here first!
Samael: (surprised)
Later, in the Hottie Bar on the airship.
Samael: Ahh!
Samael: The Hottie Bar's got the best rice cakes!
Samael: The food in that jail was pure slop!
Player: I had a feeling you missed the food in the Hottie Bar~
Samael: (happy)
Samael: Tell me, what's Never Isle up to?
Samael: They know about my power. They must be afraid of it.
Player: Uh...
Player: Well, Never Isle has taken your hotel.
Samael: That's of no consequence to me.
Samael: What about you?
Samael: You must have had to agree to their conditions to let me out.
Player: Actually...
The previous day, in the meeting room at the Arcana Academy.
A Kaism Doctor joins the meeting between Vundo, Will, Markus, Mira and Player
Kaism Doctor: My lords...
Markus: What is the status of the guests that were rescued from the hotel?
Kaism Doctor: The guests rescued from the hotel have more or less healed.
Kaism Doctor: I expect they can be discharged tomorrow.
Will: Will they suffer any after effects?
Kaism Doctor: For the time being, we do not think so.
Kaism Doctor: However, we will need to follow up with them to determine whether have suffered any. It is hard to say now.
Will: What about that official who had severe symptoms?
Kaism Doctor: His mind has returned to normal. He will be all better in three days.
Player: Phew...
Markus: Thank you, Doctor. You may return to your duties now.
The doctor leaves
Markus: How is Samael doing in jail?
Mira: He is calm. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Markus: Well, keep an eye on him.
Mira: Do not worry, Commander.
Vundo: ...
Player: Commander Markus, General Mira, Principal Vundo...
Player: I would like to know... What do you plan to do with Samael?
Will: Hmm... Although disaster was averted...
Will: He controlled and harmed Gyees, and endangered Never Isle.
Will: The punishment must be severe!
Markus: I agree.
Markus: Player, I know he's your friend, and he's been nice enough to me.
Markus: But his power is too dangerous. If we release him, there's no telling what he will do in the future.
Player: ...
Player: It would be too dangerous to use force against him at this time.
Will: Oh? Why do you say that?
Player: I've had the most contact with Samael. Naturally, I know him better than anyone.
Player: Samael comes from another world.
Player: May I ask, when Samael came to this world, did we detect any waves in the global flux?
Vundo: No, there was nothing unusual about Luxium's flux system at the time.
Player: The technology of Samael's world allows him to travel freely between worlds...
Player: All without affecting the energy state of the world he's traveling to.
Player: What kind of power is this?
Markus: ...
Will: ...
Player: Besides myself, many people have witnessed what Samael is like in combat.
Player: Whether Shadows or White Capes, he's able to wipe out his enemies as if it's just a game to him.
Player: So Samael's true power is unimaginable.
Player: If we threaten him and he really gets serious...
Player: I wonder, can we be sure that we will win?
Player: And even if we can win, how many people will Never Isle lose?
Vundo: I previously employed Mr. Samael as Head Professor at the Arcana Academy.
Vundo: Samael's understanding of energy and flux is light years ahead of Luxium's.
Vundo: Flux is ten times more powerful when wielded in his hands.
Markus: Hmm...
Will: ...
Will: Well, what do you propose, Player?
Player: Confiscate his hotel, warn him, and release him.
Will: You propose that we set this beast free?
Markus: We do not yet know what Samael's purpose is! It's too dangerous!
Player: Whatever his purpose is, he needs to be in Luxium to complete it.
Player: And since he is in Luxium, he'll need our help!
Player: I think that's why he's stayed pent up in the jail.
Player: So, what we need to do is accept him! And...
Player: Maybe if we help him complete his mission here in Luxium...
Player: If we help him, he'll help us deal with the Shadows and the White Capes!
Player: I know Samael. He's a good guy.
Vundo: I agree with Player's proposal.
Will: Hmm... As long as Samael's mission does not endanger Never Isle...
Will: We can help him!
Markus: Yes, Never Isle and its people are our foremost concern!
Continue to Trifle - The Cost II

The Cost II

When the man who has nothing finally gets what he desires is when he truly loses everything.

-Part 1
In the Hottie Bar, Player finishes telling Samael how he freed him
Then...
Player: So... That's it.
Player: As long as you no longer manipulate the people of the island...
Player: Never Isle will be willing to let bygones be bygones, and will help you.
Samael: (surprised)
Samael turns away from Player
Player: What's wrong?
Samael: So, you know everything?
Player: Know what?
Samael faces Player
Samael: I...
Samael: For my own ends...
Samael: Hurt the Gyees, deceived you, manipulated you...
Player: 'Deceived and manipulated' is an exaggeration.
Player: But yes, I knew what was going on!
Samael: Oh...
Player: Back in Alterland, you claimed to be a traveler from another world.
Player: In Alterland, you were curious about everything you saw.
Player: However, when you saw my airship, you showed no interest at all.
Player: It would stand to reason that, if you really were a traveler, there's no way you wouldn't be interested in Luxium's technology.
Samael: ...
Player: In addition, once you came to Never Isle, you lost all interest in traveling and immersed yourself here.
Player: That's when I knew.
Player: You aren't a traveler. Your purpose here...is the Gyees.
Samael: !!
Samael: ...Then why didn't you report me?
Samael: You're even willing to help...
Player: In this world, there isn't anyone who doesn't have any secrets.
Player: I've kept secrets from you, too.
Player: Besides...
Player puts a hand on Samael's shoulder
Player: I understand you.
Samael: Understand?
Player: Indeed, you secretly control Gyees and extract power from their bodies.
Player: But in the end, you didn't hurt them. So, that's why I'm convinced more than ever...
Player: You are an upstanding and admirable man!
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: Player...
Samael: ...
Player: That day on the airship.
Player: I was wary of you because I saw how you burned those White Capes.
Player: You told me that your flames only burn your enemies.
Player: That same day, I could feel the heat of your fire, like sunlight.
Samael: You remember...
Player: We fought alongside the Oathblades...
Player: We shared a drink with Miles and Izumi in celebration.
Player: I remember all of it.
Player: Afterward, you used your unique power to save me.
Player: You abandoned your plan.
Player: Without your help, the Shadows would've teleported me to the Shadowland by now.
Player: Thank you, Samael.
Player: You're a true friend...
Player: You're also the man who saved my life. I will forever be grateful to you!
Samael: (blushes)
Samael: You're welcome. You helped me find my way in the Star Woods, after all.
Samael: I was just returning your favor!
Player: (smiles)
Player: That's why I said you're an upstanding and admirable man!
Samael: (blushes)
Samael: This is the first time I've heard you praise someone like this. It feels...strange.
Samael: I need a drink...
Player: (smiles)
Player: I'll have a drink, too!
A while later, Samael has downed several bottles in a row.
Samael: Ha! It really is fate's cruel joke.
Samael: My father, was a powerful...lord...
Samael: He was the greatest and most respected man in all space-time.
Samael: My whole life, I have been trying...
Samael: To prove...to my father...
Samael: Prove to him...my loyalty...my power...
Samael: Prove to him...my worth...
Samael: Player, you just said I was...
Samael: An upstanding, admirable man.
Samael: I would like to hear my father say those words.
Player: I'm sure your father would agree!
Samael: But I screwed up!
Samael: Out of recklessness and immaturity...
Samael: Out of weakness!
Samael: I made a big mistake...
Samael: My father threw me out...
Samael: I don't blame him. I blame myself...
Samael: But I can't give up.
Player: ...
Samael: I found Luxium, a world of abundant power.
Samael: So, here I am...
Samael: I was going to acquire strength from this world, and prove myself to my father.
Samael: I was going to return home... Return to my family...
Samael: And reclaim my glory!
Samael: But...... I screwed up again...
Samael: I'd almost collected enough energy, when the Defense Force found out what I was doing...
Player: ...
Player: Don't forget, Samael. You still have friends!
Player: All you have to do is ask, and Miles, Izumi, Principal Vundo, and I will help you!
Samael: Help me?
Player: Yeah! This here is Luxium. This is my world!
Player: There's got to be some other way we can collect the energy you need to go home!
Player: We will prove everything to your father together!
Samael: Ha...
Samael: Hahahaha!
Samael: (smiles)
Samael: In that case, thank you.
Player: (smiles)
Samael leans towards you.
Although he's heavier than you, you're still able to hold him steady.
Samael's head leans in close.
You look into his eyes and feel a warmth building in your heart.
Samael: You look absolutely delectable, Player...
Player: You...are a feast for the eyes.
You and Samael share a kiss.
Player: Oh, Samael...
Samael: Don't talk. I'm going to... Oh...
Very quickly, you begin to feel hot.
Kissing is no longer enough.
By the time you come to your senses, Samael has pressed you up against the wall.
The clothes and the pants that were in your way are gone.
Samael holds you firmly up against his chest.
Before you know it, a unique feeling comes up from below.
The feeling is warm, solid, and massive.
Your heart longs for it, but you feel apprehensive.
Samael: Breathe... Take a deep breath, Player. Relax your whole body.
Samael: You will feel the ultimate pleasure...
Player: Oh... Oh!
Slowly, you feel your body being filled...
You don't feel any pain, only pressure, pushing, and slamming against your most sensitive parts.
You feel an ultimate, unlimited pleasure that is out of this world.
A few moments later...
You're no longer in the Hottie Bar.
Where you are, is not important. What's important is...
You don't want to stop, and neither does he.
You don't know how much time has passed...
When you feel yourself in your own bed.
Behind you is a solid and firm body, that somehow also feels soft and moist.
In front of you are two thick arms, protective and gentle.
...
The next morning...
On the deck of the airship.
Samael takes in the view
Samael: Yesterday...
Samael: Even now, I still feel like I haven't had enough.
Samael: It's been a long, long time since I experienced this kind of tender joy...
Samael: Is this...
Samael: What love feels like?
Samael: ...
Samael's smile quickly turns into a face of regret
Samael: I'm sorry, Player. I...
Samael: Still need to...
Samael: !!
Adonis swoops down from the sky and lands on the deck
Samael: Wings...
Samael summons his Hellfire Trident
Samael: You. You followed me all the way here?
Samael: ...
Samael: No, your bodies don't bear that stench.
Samael: Who are you?
Adonis: Guest of Luxium, you may call me Adonis.
Samael: What are you doing here?
Samael dispels his trident
Adonis: I am the God of Love here in Luxium. Just now...
Adonis: You summoned me...
Adonis: It is my life's mission to witness lovers coming together.
Samael: Lovers?
Samael: What are you talking about?
Adonis: You know what I am talking about.
Samael: Surely, you jest.
Samael: I am the Demon God of the Underworld, the Ruler of the Ring of Desire!
Samael: Love is a lie entertained only by the weakest of mortals.
Samael: You have the wrong man. Go back to wherever you came from!
Adonis: Oh, is that so?
Adonis: You are right. Love is a notion entertained by weak mortals.
Adonis: But, love...is anything but a lie.
Samael: ...
Adonis: Love transcends everything...
Adonis: Love is what gives a lonely soul a companion to rely on...
Adonis: It takes a self-centered life and adds an entire new dimension of possibilities to it...
Adonis: And multiplies one's joy.
Samael: Humph... These are all just the thoughts of cowards!
Samael: In the underworld, where the law of the jungle reigns supreme, absolute power is everything!
Adonis: I will not judge you...
Adonis: I can sense your intense willpower...
Adonis: I can feel your resolve...
Samael: Humph! What do you know about me?
Samael: Nobody knows what I've been through.
Samael: I've had absolutely nothing to my name for a long time now!
Samael: There's only one thing I can do.
Samael: Obtain this world's power and reclaim what is rightfully mine!
Adonis: You have absolutely nothing?
Adonis: I can see that in your heart, the scars of your wounds still throb faintly with pain.
Adonis: And because of that pain, you are in denial.
Samael: (surprised)
Adonis: Actually, you already have everything you need.
Adonis: You are wealthier than most gods!
Adonis: I do not know what it is you want to do.
Adonis: When you get what you think is everything you need...
Adonis: I hope that you don't lose everything that you truly value in your heart.
Samael: ...
Samael: Enough! Shut up.
Samael: Love is just a lie that weak and foolish humans use to comfort one another!
Samael: A man who is truly strong vows his strength to his faith!
Samael: Begone, you cowardly peasant god!
Samael: Don't make fight you!
Adonis: All right...
Adonis: Demon God of the Underworld...
Adonis: One day, you will understand.
Adonis: For us, love...
Adonis: Love is not weak.
Adonis: It is the sunlight in the eternal night, and the rarest treasure in the world.
Adonis: Contrary to what you believe, those who have love are the most powerful of all.
Adonis flies away
Samael: ...
Samael: The sunlight in the eternal night...
Samael: ...
Samael: No!
Samael: No, no, no!
Samael: I do not need such weak things!
Samael: I do not need them. I do not need them, I will never need them!
Samael: The only thing that I need...
Samael: Is power!
Samael: That's right!
Samael: Player...
Samael: Last night's pleasure gave me the last power of desire that I need to forge the Ring of Desire!
Samael: You should feel honored to have helped me achieve my mission, Player!
Samael: Mortals of Never Isle...
Samael: Witness the coming of the Ring of Desire!
...
...
???: Quick... Something...
???: Player, quick... Something's happened!
Player: Oh...
Kitty: Player! Wake up! Something's happened!
Player: Kitty? What's wrong?!
Kitty: You're finally awake...
Kitty: Go... I can't hold on anymore!
Kitty: Go!
Player: Oh...
Player: Kitty, you...
Player: Whoa! Hold on a second, Kitty!
Player runs to the airship bridge
Player: Ahhhh!!!
Kitty: Player~
A scantily clad Kitty playfully chases Player
Kitty: Don't go, Player. I want to eat... I want to eat you...
Player: What the hell are you doing?!
Billy: Captain, over here!
Player: Billy!
Never Isle...
...
Player and Billy manage to escape to Never Isle dock
Player: Oh...
Player: Billy, what happened?
Player: What's wrong with Kitty?
Billy: It's not just Kitty...
Billy: The people of Never Isle... They're all...
Billy: Making love all over the place.
Player looks past the entrance gate
A strange red mist covers Never Isle
The citizens are enthralled in multiple orgies
Player: ...
Player: This must be Samael's doing!
Player: (angry)
Billy: Yeah...
Billy: Samael's power is radiating throughout Never Isle.
Billy: Most likely, he's in the center of the plaza at the Arcana Academy.
Billy: Oh...
Billy holds his head
Player: Billy, you've been affected, too. Go!
Billy: No! I will protect you until you get to Samael!
Billy: You're the only one who can stop him, Captain!
Billy: The port is the farthest point from the plaza, so Samael's power is weakest there. I can hold on!
Billy: Let's go!
Player: ...
Player: All right!
Player and Billy run through Never Isle towards the Arcana Academy plaza
Crazed Residents of Never Isle: Come! Come and eat...
Crazed Residents of Never Isle: Oh... Ugh... Ahh!!!
Crazed Residents of Never Isle: Ohhh... Haha...
Player: They've lost their minds. Everyone's lost their minds.
The two continue to make their way through the Isle
Player: !!!
Billy: Don't stop, Captain! The crazies are right behind us...
Billy: Oh!
Miles and multiple Oathblades Warriors block the road
Oathblades Warrior: Oh, Player... I love you...
Oathblades Warrior: I love you, too...
Player: Oh...
Player: No!
Player: They are Oathblades. They could get hurt if I fight them.
Player: Snap out of it, you guys!
Billy attacks the enthralled warriors
Billy: Hiya!
Billy: Captain, take the back alley around to the plaza!
Player: But...
Billy: Go! Stop Samael!
Player: ...
Player leaves
Miles: Come over here...
Miles seductively walks up to Billy
Billy: Miles... Snap out of it, Miles!
Billy: M...Miles...
Billy's clothes fall to the ground
Billy: ...
At the Arcana Academy plaza, Samael stands at the center of a ring of glowing orbs
Samael: The Ring of Desire is almost complete. The power of the islanders' desire will all belong to me!
Player: Stop, Samael!
Samael: (surprised)
Player enters the ring
Samael: How did you get in here, Player?
Samael: Get out of here!
Player: I told you, I'm not going to leave you behind!
Player: Stop!
Samael: You...
Samael: You should've left already.
Samael: But since you're here, it's time for you to get to know the real me.
Player: ...
Samael: Allow me to re-introduce myself. I am Samael...
Samael: Son of the Lord of the Underworld...
Samael: Former Demon God of the Underworld and Ruler of the Ring of Desire!
Samael: I came to Luxium to obtain the abundant power of desire in this world...
Samael: Return to the underworld, and become the Demon God once again!
Player: I know. You told me that you wanted to prove yourself to your father again.
Player: And I promised that I would help you.
Samael: ...
Samael: You still don't understand?
Samael: In order to obtain enough power of desire, I need to forge the Ring of Desire!
Samael: Everyone within the Ring of Desire will make love until they die!
Samael: That's how I will absorb all the power of the desire!
Player: W... what?
Samael: You finally understand!
Samael: I am an irredeemably evil demon.
Samael: Everything we went through together was all a lie!
Samael: I have been using you. Even our dalliance last night was just so that I could get the last power of desire that I needed for the Ring of Desire.
Player: ...
Samael: Get out of here, while you still can!
Samael: You're an avatar from another world, so the Ring of Desire's influence on you is weak, but with enough time, it will pose a threat to you.
Player: ...
Player: No. I won't leave!
Player: I told you that I'd help you.
Samael: I don't need your help anymore. The Ring of Desire is almost complete.
Player: That's not what I'm talking about.
Player: I want to help you escape your abyss!
Samael: Escape my abyss?
Player: You are an upstanding and admirable man...
Player: If you complete the Ring of Desire, you will kill everyone on the island.
Player: You will betray...
Samael: Yes, I will betray all of you! That was determined the second I came to this world!
Player: (Shakes head slightly)
Player: You will betray yourself!
Player: Your whole life has been about proving your loyalty, your power, your worth...
Player: Proving that you are an upstanding and admirable man...
Player: But if your betrayal kills your friends, and kills those who trust you...
Player: Will you still preach the value of loyalty? Who will trust you then? Who will you show your worth to?
Player: You are nothing but a hypocrite, and an evil coward!
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: No! That's not true!
Samael: I haven't betrayed anyone.
Samael: I have given these humans the pleasure they've spent their whole lives searching for.
Samael: They will die in rapture and happiness!
Samael: I have satisfied their deepest desires!
Player: Oh?
Player: You think humans are lowly beasts who pursue desire, and nothing else?
Samael: That's exactly what humans are!
Player: No, you are wrong!
Player: Look at Miles. Look at Izumi! Look at all the people of Never Isle!
Player: You have given them pleasure, but do you see true happiness in their faces?
Samael: ...
Player: Is it even possible to be happy with someone you don't love?!
Player: Have you ever been happy with someone you didn't love?!
Samael: ...
Player: Humans are more complicated than you imagine!
Player: Desire is a primitive urge that our hearts pursue, that is true.
Player: But we also pursue our dreams!
Player: We also pursue love!
Player: Human beings are cowardly and frail, but even so, we still pursue our goals relentlessly!
Samael: That's enough! Stop talking!
Samael: I've already made my decision!
Player: Oh...
Player grabs his head
Samael: Player!
Samael: Oh...
Samael: The Ring of Desire's power may not affect your mind...
Samael: But its energy affects the substance of your flux.
Samael: Get out of here! Otherwise you will die!
Player: I'm not going anywhere!
Samael: Get out!!
Samael: I'm begging you!!
Player: I will stay behind to help you...escape your abyss...
Samael: I'm just a hypocritical, cowardly bastard!
Samael: Go!
Player: No!
Player: You are an upstanding and admirable hero...
Player: I love you...
Player falls to the ground
Samael: !!!
At that moment, Samael remembers what Adonis said to him
Adonis: When you get what you think is everything you need...
Adonis: I hope that you don't lose everything that you truly value in your heart.
Samael: Ahhhhhh!
Samael swings his trident at the orbs of energy, destroying the Ring of Desire that he created
Samael: I destroyed the Ring of Desire...
Samael: Player, wake up!
Player: (Samael?)
Player: (I can hear you, but I can't feel my body...)
Samael: Don't die on me!
Samael: When I'm with you, I feel at ease, I feel grounded...
Samael: When we're together, I can let go of the shackles that bind me and my burdens...
Samael: I've experienced a deep pleasure that I hadn't felt in thousands of years...
Samael: We haven't known each other for very long.
Samael: But you know me better than anyone else.
Samael: You're right. I almost betrayed myself.
Samael: But you saved me!
Player: (That's good enough for me...)
Player: Ugh. Umm...
Samael: Whoa!!
Samael: Great, you're breathing!
People around the Isle begin to awake
Awakened Citizens: Ugh... I...
Awakened Citizens: Huh?! Why am I naked?!
Awakened Citizens: W-Who are you?
Awakened Citizens: I remember now... My heavens...
Awakened Defense Force Warrior: This power... It's Samael's...
Awakened Defense Force Warrior: Samael...He's with Player in the plaza!
Awakened Defense Force Warrior: Could it be? Player and Samael...
Mira: This is unforgivable.
Mira: Listen up, Defense Force!
Mira: Arrest Samael! Arrest Player!!
Mira: They have betrayed Never Isle!
Samael hears their voices
Samael: (surprised)
Samael: (angry)
Samael: Thank you, Player.
Samael: Good-bye.
Player: (Where are you going, Samael?)
Player: (Whoa... I sense a massive amount of flux being gathered...)
Player: (He gathered the energy for the Ring of Desire?!)
Suddenly, you sense a large energy eruption above your head.
Powerful flux radiation dazes you.
Player: (Where are you, Samael?)
Player: (I can't sense you anymore, Sam...)
Later...
Billy: Wake up, Captain!
Billy helps Player to his feet
Player: Oh...
Player: My head...
Player: What are you doing here, Billy?
Billy: I don't know...
Billy: When I woke up, I was lying naked in the street...
Billy: Miles was on top of me...
Billy: He doesn't remember what happened, either.
Billy: It was like everyone in Never Isle suddenly appeared on the street buck naked.
Player: ...
Player: Sam... Samael?
Billy: Huh?
Billy: Who is Samael?
Player: Uh...
Player: ...
Player: What do you mean, who is Samael?
