Peter - Mike's bodyguard.
Hard-core, tough, and battle-ready. A reliable man.
Mike's family bodyguard. He takes his duty to protect them with an honor
Intro[]
Peter was once the bodyguard among the caravan of Mike's father. Once they came across the bandits. And to protect the father and son, he did his best, only to expose his identity as a Gyee. Mike's father gave him a bunch of money, resigning him against will.
So he returned to Harveston and opened a Dojo Hall for grappling skills. Peter talked less but worked earnestly, attracting quite a large number of people. However, his peaceful life was ruined on Mike's Adult Day. After that fire, Peter chose to be Mike's bodyguard.
For him, it doesn't matter where he goes as long as he's with Mike. He will rest assured when Mike is well protected.

Consolation Letter[]
Heard you want me to coach your grappling skills?
Well, it won't be a problem if it's you asking.
About the place...
My chain Dojo Halls at Harveston, every single one of them can be shut down for your use.
About time...
Make it convenient for you. Any time will be fine with me.
Of note...
Grappling is a kind of body-to-body sports. It's normal to have physical contact during the coach. Please take no offense.
Bath Drama[]
- Master Mike! Come here! Let me give you a rubdown!
- Master used to own a big pool, too. He and I would... What are you thinking about?
- Bathhouse wrestling? I'm okay with that...
Fave Hottie Slogan[]
Master Mike's not here, he's off discussing business. Vote? You're going to vote for me? But I'm not interested in participating... "I'll get a one-on-one private training session with Peter?" Oh... Master Mike...
Intimacy Breakthrough[]

- Peter: Ok.
- Peter: Thank you for your gift.
- Peter: More gifts. Thank you very much.
- Peter: I'm not very good at expressing myself.
- Peter: But in short, I appreciate the thought.
- Peter: I am indebted to you for your kindness. Thank you very much.
- Peter: If you ever need any protection work, come find me any time.
- Peter: I will protect you with my life!
- Peter: Are you close with that little scamp named Yaen?
- Player: I guess you could say that. After all, I've known her a long time!
- Peter: I'd like to ask you - what does she like to do normally?
- Player: (Jealous) Eh? Why are you so interested in her?
- Peter: (Nervous) Uh...
- Peter: I just want to send her some presents as thanks.
- Peter: But I can't figure out what girls like these days...
- Peter: Ever since I received her jar of 'candy...'
- Peter: I haven't had to depend on wine to get to sleep as much.
- Player: Haha, it seems like even Yaen can do good from time to time...
- Player: How about this? I'll give you some ideas!
- Player: What do you think about... a lesbian-style dress?
- Player: I just happen to have one already wrapped up!
- Scene transition
- Peter: (Serious) That wouldn't be right.
- Player: Eh? You don't think I chose the right gift for her?
- Peter: (Shaking head) No, that's not it.
- Peter: What you've prepared is suitable, but I should take care of all this...
- Peter: Thank you for being so considerate.
- Peter: I must apologize.
- Player: Haha, we've known each other longer than that!
- Peter: How about this?
- Peter: I'll find an opportunity to take this wrapped gift to that little rascal.
- Peter: But for now, you need to come with me to the market!
- Player: Eh? Go to the market to do what?
- Peter: You helped me prepare a gift for Yaen.
- Peter: To show my gratitude.
- Peter: I want to personally accompany you while you pick a gift for me to give to you!
- Peter: No, not just one. You can pick up whatever you like!
- Player: Don't be like that...
- Peter: You don't need to be so polite with me!
- Peter: I've stocked up on land in my homeland. My chain of dojos already has many locations.
- Peter: Get whatever you want. Money is not a concern!
- Player: ...
- Peter: I hear you often go out on adventures. It's not too safe these days.
- Peter: You want to be extra careful.
- Peter: If you want to improve your grappling skills, come find me.
- Peter: I'll give you some hands-on training.
- Peter: Grappling requires long periods of focused training.
- Peter: You must have stamina, technique, and awareness.
- Peter: Fight thousands of battles, all so that can make the proper judgment at the critical moment and defeat your enemy.
- Peter: The blood and sweat you shed in the process can only be known by yourself.
- Peter: The moment of victory is the greatest reward.
- Peter: Why do I always furrow my brow?
- Peter: It's probably because I'm always on alert.
- Peter: When I was a bodyguard for Mike's family all those years, I cultivated this habit.
- Peter: Even after I left to start my dojo, I never let my guard down.
- Peter: Is it exhausting?
- Peter: Maybe...
- Peter: But you need to protect the people and things that you value and cherish.
- Peter: I have no choice.
- Peter: You are also someone I cherish.
- Player: Hey, Choji! Where's Peter?
- Choji: (Stretching) He's still sleeping. I'll go wake up that lazybones for you!
- Choji enters the vehicle and wakes Peter up.
- Peter is tossing and turning in the throes of a dream. His brow is furrowed and there's sweat upon his forehead. He grips his blankets tightly...
- Choji: Hey, Peter! Get up!
- Choji: (Screaming) Ahhh!
- Choji shakes Peter out of his nightmare, and Peter clutches his neck in a haze.
- Player: !!!
- Choji: (Choking) Let... let... let go! I'm... I'm not Martin!
- Peter lets go of Choji's hand and falls right back asleep.
- Player: Are you all right, Choji?
- Choji: I'm fine, I'm fine. I'm used to it. This isn't the first time he's tried to strangle me.
- Player: Eh?
- Choji: You gotta help me find a way so that I'm not putting my life at risk every time I try to wake him up...
- Choji: My heart can't take it anymore.
- Player: Hm... I think I have just the thing for it.
- Player: You can use this alarm clock to wake him up from a safe distance.
- Scene transition
- Peter: This morning...
- Peter: The alarm clock you gave us pulled me out of my nightmare.
- Player: You had another nightmare?
- Peter: (Nods)
- Peter: I grabbed Master Martin and picked up Master Mike and took them out of the fire.
- Peter: And once again, I watched as all Pablo's hard work burned to a crisp.
- Peter: That dream again...
- Peter: This time it was different. This time, you were there.
- Player: I was in your dream...?
- Peter: Ok.
- Peter: In the dream, you warned me.
- Peter: I didn't let him go.
- Player: ...
- Peter: You became the key to changing everything.
- Player: Me...?
- Player: I'm that important to you?
- Peter: Huh? You're just realizing this?
- Player: ...
- Player: All right. Now I know how much I mean to you.
- Player: But the me that you saw was just your dream version of me. Your idea of me...
- Player: My true opinion and viewpoint, you might not be able to accept!
- Player: You know how I feel about the Shadows...
- Peter: ...
- Peter: I understand.
- Peter: Regarding Master Martin...
- Peter: Perhaps...
- Peter: The differences in opinion we won't talk about for the time being...
- Peter: Will sooner or later explode.
- Player: ...
- Peter: If things are as I hope they aren't... you and I are at odds.
- Peter: I just hope you will remember...
- Player: Remember what?
- Peter: That I, Peter, once regarded you as a friend.
- Peter: That I trusted you completely!
- Player: ...
- Peter: Haha, I don't mean to scare you.
- Peter: After all, the worst hasn't come to worst yet.
- Peter: But before then, I needed you to understand how I felt about you!
- Peter: I don't want you to worry about our friendship. Please understand that.
- Peter: Just as long as you remember.
- Player: Ok.
- Player: I'll remember.
- Player: I'm the friend who appears to you in your dreams. I'm your most trusted friend.
- Peter: ...
- Peter: That's right!
- Peter: When I'm with you, I feel relatively relaxed.
- Peter: I don't have any heavy burdens.
- Peter: Why don't I just get rid of these burdens?
- Peter: ...
- Peter: Some things I want to forget, but they're always right in front of me.
- Peter: They become elements that I dream about at night.
- Peter: The more you experience and the more burdens you have, the more you just have to grin and bear it to move forward.
- Peter: Luckily, I have you to chat with now.
- Peter: These are some of the few moments I have when I can relax.
- Peter: Thanks for being here.
- Peter: While working as a bodyguard, you cannot afford to be careless even for a moment.
- Peter: It's hard work, but my life has meaning, because the work allows me to achieve meaning.
- Peter: I need to ensure the safety of those who are important to me. They also need me.
- Peter: By 'they', I mean Mike's family...
- Peter: ... my companions in the caravan...
- Peter: ... and you.
- Peter: I will never leave your side. I will never stop protecting you!
Dates[]
This section contains spoilers for Date scenes.
Dojo Hall
- Peter: I want your opinion on something before I make a decision.
- Player: Yes.
- Scene transition
- Peter: It's said you can only focus one thing at a time.
- Peter: My primary job currently is to bodyguard Mike.
- Peter: Which leaves me no time or energy to manage the Dojo Halls.
- Peter: And I have no idea what to do with those studios.
- Peter: So, what do you suggest?
- Player: You can hire a professional manager to run it for you.
- Player: The land will still be yours, so do the rights to the Dojo Halls.
- Player: You just have to pay the manager an appropriate fee.
- Peter: Hey, that's a great idea.
- Peter: I used to oversee everything for the Dojo Halls.
- Peter: I can pass the experience on to the so-called 'manager'.
- Peter: About finding the most suitable candidate, though...
- Peter: How about you handle the job interviews?
- Player: What, you want me to choose?
- Peter: Yeah, I trust you to pick the right person.
- Player: Suspend operation for a while,
- Player: but keep the venues.
- Player: If you should get tired of bodyguarding Mike one day,
- Player: the studios will still be there for you to run.
- Peter: I've never considered the future since working for Mike.
- Peter: If there's not another better option,
- Peter: I guess I should shutter it for a while.
- Peter: Keep it on backburner while I try to come up with other ideas.
- Player: Since your mind isn't on it anymore,
- Player: you should sell the business when the Dojo Halls are hot.
- Peter: I did consider it.
- Peter: I have no problem selling the Dojo Halls,
- Peter: but Paul give me the lots they were built on.
- Peter: Until Mike stops paying me, I'm not selling the land.
- Peter: I'll figure something out regarding the Dojo Halls.
Mike's Gift
- Peter: It's almost Mike's birthday, help me pick out a present.
- Player: Yes.
- Scene transition
- Peter: Mike is into anything tasty, pretty, and fun.
- Peter: But I still can't think of anything specific to give him.
- Player: Isn't Mike into aesthetics as well as investment?
- Player: I say you go get a painting from Su.
- Player: Then give it to him on his birthday. He'll love it.
- Peter: Is that Master Su, a priest for the Kaigon White Turbans?
- Player: Yes, that's the one.
- Peter: Mike has been coveting his work for a long time.
- Peter: But I heard Master Su is rather... eccentric.
- Peter: Normally, you can't even buy his artwork.
- Peter: You have to wait till he's in a good mood to give you one for free, or when he's depressed and throwing them away.
- Player: ...
- Player: Well, you could say I'm a friend of his. I can try on your behalf.
- Peter: Will you? I owe you big, my friend!
- Peter: If you need anything from now on, just ask me!
- Player: Mike like things that are pretty, fun, and valuable.
- Player: He's sure to love it if you give him a diamond the size of a quail egg.
- Peter: Not a bad idea.
- Peter: But he already has buckets of rocks the size of a quail egg.
- Peter: How about one the size of chicken egg, then?
- Player: Whoa, isn't that a tad expensive?
- Peter: I'll have to mortgage several lands to afford it.
- Peter: It's worth it as long as he likes it.
- Peter: Thanks, I'll go get a mortgage loan now.
- Player: Mike likes gourmet dishes.
- Player: So naturally, you want to make him something expensive for birthday.
- Player: You don't even have to make it yourself with Choji around.
- Player: You pay for the ingredients and he puts the dish together.
- Player: Give Mike a surprise from the both of you.
- Peter: The suggestion started out great.
- Peter: But me working with Choji...
- Peter: That's gonna be a, ahem, problem.
Workout
- Peter: I heard you're interested in bodybuilding?
- Player: Yes.
- Scene transition
- Player: I am very interested in bodybuilding.
- Player: But I'm not a pro like you, or have your self-discipline.
- Player: I'm just curious,
- Player: you focused so hard on bodybuilding because...
- Peter: Yes, that's the biggest reason.
- Peter: As a bodyguard,
- Peter: you gotta have an intimidating presence.
- Peter: And you have to be tough enough to take hits.
- Peter: I want Mike to feel safe both physically and mentally,
- Peter: hence it's the biggest motivation for my workouts!
- Peter: Yeah, it's an important factor,
- Peter: but not the only reason.
- Peter: Bodybuilding isn't just pumping iron,
- Peter: you have to watch out in your diet too.
- Peter: Gotta stay away from the high-sodium, high-carb stuff Choji makes.
- Peter: Well, yes, it's part of it.
- Peter: I started off running Dojo Halls,
- Peter: so your image is part of the package.
- Peter: Now that I've transitioned into bodyguarding,
- Peter: it's even more reason to keep it up for Mike's sake.
Grappling
- Billy: Captain, someone is having an argument with Hottie at Hottie Bar! You better go take a look.
- Player: Billy, you take care of it.
- Billy: Captain, I don't know that strong man, you should go.
- Player: What? Strong man? I'll be right there!
- Scene transition
- Peter: I want one more Bloody Sand!
- Bartender: I am sorry but you had 24 drinks already.
- Bartender: The system safety protocol would not allow me to provide you any more alcohol.
- Bartender: Please come back tomorrow!
- Peter: I am fine! Just give me another 2 glasses of Bloody Sand!
- Bartender: It will be dangerous if you keep drinking.
- Player: Peter!
- Peter: !
- Peter: Haha, brother you are here at the right time.
- Peter: Have your robot make me three more Bloody Sands.
- Bartender: Captain, this guest has had 24 drinks in a row.
- Player: 24 drinks!
- Player: Peter, you can't drink any more.
- Peter: Brother, you know how much I can drink.
- Peter: The drinks here at Hottie Bar is so good. I want to drink more!
- Peter: Give me another 4!
- Player: Peter! You are really drinking too much. You should stop drinking!
- Peter: You are not selling fake wine here, and I know how much I can drink.
- Bartender: My dear guest, you will drop dead if you don't stop drinking.
- Peter: Drop ... dead?
- Peter: I can't die yet.
- Bartender: Cannot pass system safety protocol.
- Bartender: I cannot provide any more drinks for this guest.
- Peter: Such a robot, really! Argh...
- Peter: I will go somewhere else to drink! Brother! Come with me!
- Choice - Fine! I will go with you! - 500 Intimacy
- Peter: Hehe! That is my good brother!
- Scene ends
- Choice - Peter, you need to sober up!!
- Player: It is because I am your brother that I can't let you drink any more!
- Conversation continues after choices
- Moments later...
- Player: Are you feeling better now?
- Peter: ...
- Peter: I'm sorry, I behaved inappropriately.
- Player: I have never seen you drink so much. What happened?
- Peter: It's ... nothing.
- Player: You call this nothing?
- Peter: ...
- Player: If you really don't want to talk, then don't. Let's just talk about the good old days.
- Player: We have not seen each other for a while.
- Player: What, aren't you running around Luxium doing business with Mike?
- Peter: Today Master Mike is doing business on Never Isle.
- Peter: Master Mike is talking business. I know nothing about that.
- Peter: Sometimes it is not convenient for me to hang around so I just come here to have a drink.
- Peter: Just that today I had more than a few.
- Player: Is Mike's business running well lately?
- Peter: Just... as usual.
- Peter: When things go well, in one deal we make hundreds of Black Dragonshards.
- Peter: But sometimes when bad luck hits, we lose two three thousand Black Dragonshards.
- Peter: That's...
- Peter: But it's fine. I still have a few martial arts schools.
- Peter: I won't let Master Mike go bankrupt.
- Player: You can't be pouring money in whilst working as a bodyguard?
- Peter: I don't need that much money.
- Peter: I can't use that much money by myself. So I just help when I can.
- Player: Does Mike ask you for money?
- Peter: He doesn't. I just won't let him find out.
- Peter: Hahaha.
- Peter: You are surrounded by so many talents. I'm afraid I can't live up to your standards.
- Peter: And also you protect yourself well.
- Peter: Forget about me.
- Player: ...
- Peter: But you can come to my martial arts school.
- Peter: Anytime as long as you want.
- Peter: I will teach you myself when I am free.
- Player: Wow ... lucky me.
- Peter: (Smiling while looking at you)
- Go to Part 2
- Peter: Of course not.
- Peter: The way Master Mike does business feels like Paul's back in the day.
- Peter: Not only does he have a keen business sense but he's also got guts.
- Peter: He has grown a lot these years, and he rarely makes mistakes in his strategies now.
- Player: Then why are you losing money all the time?
- Peter: ...
- Peter: Just recent years. The Shadow's power is on the rise.
- Peter: A lot of the business failures of the Master are caused by force majeure.
- Peter: Sometimes we come across the Shadow's strongholds along the way.
- Peter: Usually we would go around.
- Peter: But going around wastes a lot of time.
- Peter: Master missed a lot of important business events because of this.
- Peter: And also there are the White Robes, bandits and the Shadow squads.
- Peter: If they are relatively small scale, Carter and I can still handle it.
- Peter: But if we come across anything big we would have to run away.
- Peter: Very often we had to dump our truck cargo to run away.
- Peter: At the end of the day, Master Mike loses money because I am not doing a good enough job as a bodyguard.
- Peter: However, as long as I am alive, Master Mike will not have another incident.
- Player: I didn't know you are under so much stress.
- Peter: I'm fine. The Master is under greater stress.
- Peter: I have a good way to relieve stress.
- Player: And that is...?
- Peter: You want to try?
- Player: Let's try it.
- Peter: My way to relieve stress is combat class!
- Player: What?
- Go to Part 2
- Peter: And now we have time!
- Peter: Come on, no weapons.
- Peter: Pure hand-to-hand combat.
- Peter takes off his clothes and puts on loose shorts
- His body is as strong as a mountain. His eyes glow with flaming radiance.
- No doubt, Peter is being serious.
- Peter raises his arms, making a wrestling stance
- You watch Peter cautiously, observing his movements
- Suddenly, all that's left in Peter's place is a faint shadow.
- The next instant, Peter is already behind you with his arms around your waist.
- You feel your feet lifting off the ground and the world turning around you.
- The next thing you know, you are already on the floor at Hottie Bar.
- Kno ... Knockout!! It's a knockout!
- Player: ...
- Peter: !!!
- Peter: ...
- Peter: Right, if you used arcana, I would be no match.
- Peter: Sigh...
- Player: Peter, what's wrong?
- Peter: Actually, earlier today, I ran into some kids talking.
- Peter: They are discussing their curiosity in arcana and how they dream to be arcana mages.
- Peter: I heard one of the kids say that he wanted to become a gladiator.
- Peter: I stopped in my way and carefully listen to the kids' conversation.
- Peter: The kid who wanted to become a gladiator is now being laughed at by the other kids.
- Peter: Arcana can conjure fire balls and call storms.
- Peter: The gladiator cannot do anything.
- Peter: In the end, the kid wants to become an arcana mage like the others.
- Peter: I felt uncomfortable listening, but could not find a good response.
- Player: Well...
- Player: After all, the Arcana Academy is famous on Never Isle.
- Player: Don't take it personally, these are just kids.
- Peter: I know, they are just kids.
- Peter: But they speak the truth.
- Peter: Arcana is really fancy and powerful.
- Peter: That fight, if you could freely utilize your arcana.
- Peter: I wouldn't even be able to get near you.
- Peter: The brawling techniques would be useless if I can't even get near you.
- Peter: Can't help but remember Crossport a few years ago.
- Peter: In the face of that fire, how vulnerable I was.
- Peter: Not just arcana, guns and cannons are also becoming more widespread.
- Peter: In the face of these weapons, brawling techniques are just useless.
- Peter: Haha, how about you take your big sword.
- Peter: I will take my hammer, let's fight again.
- Player: No! We are going tear the zeppelin apart.
- Player: Peter, your brawling skills are exceptional.
- Peter: Which do you think is more powerful? Arcana or brawling?
- Player: Um ... it's a little hard to compare. They have their own advantages.
- Player: How do you manage to move that fast?
- Player: I didn't even see your moves!
- Peter: ...
- Peter: I can teach you if you are interested.
- Player: Then, how long will it be until I develop your reaction speed?
- Peter: Well ... that would take a long time.
- Peter: Brawling is all about physical strengths.
- Peter: That over-the-shoulder I just did requires a strong core.
- Peter: You should work out first and become stronger.
- Peter: From a physique standpoint, you should be able to overtake me with about 10 years of training.
- Peter: If you want, I can tutor you.
- Choice - Agh, I don't think I can persist.
- Peter: Agh ... Right ...
- Peter: Brawling is a little monotonous. Do you want to learn something better?
- Player: Something better?
- Peter: ...
- Choice - Awesome! I'm counting on you now Peter.
- Peter: I didn't think you would be this interested.
- Player: Ever since I was little, I would get excited when I see strong men.
- Player: Becoming a strong man has always been my dream.
- Peter: How good would it be if everyone thought like that.
- Player: Why do you say it like that?
- Conversation continues after choices
- Peter: Is brawling out of fashion already?
- Player: You just said brawling techniques are useless unless you can get close to your opponent.
- Player: What if I got close to the body.
- Player: Will all arcana, guns and cannons become useless then?
- Player: Peter, with your skill.
- Player: it would be really hard to hit with any arcana or weapon.
- Player: Many arcana spells require chanting in order to be cast.
- Player: Guns and cannons need to be loaded.
- Player: These are huge disadvantages in the face of brawling.
- Peter: Guns and cannons wear and tear, arcana is limited by the caster's ability.
- Peter: Only the fists and muscles are your most reliable weapons.
- Player: Don't you understand that?
- Peter: I have been studying brawling for many decades now, of course I understand!
- Peter: But many young ones don't seem to get it.
- Peter: Mike, for one, doesn't have a clue.
- Peter: I wish if I could get him to exercise more.
- Peter: It is good for his body and old wounds.
- Peter: With fewer young people, my Dojo won't survive too long.
- Peter: Change is bound to happen I guess.
- Player: Since the kids think arcana is fun, why don't we just make brawling fun as well?
- Peter: Fun?
- Peter: Brawling is a serious business, it's not supposed to be fun.
- Player: Brawling will always be brawling, but can we incorporate some arcana into it?
- Player: Think about it, Peter.
- Player: Don't Fire Punch and Lightning Kick sound awesome?
- Player: It can also attract some eyeballs.
- Peter: Sounds good.
- Peter: But I don't know anything about arcana.
- Peter: Besides, all the arcana that I've seen require a medium to channel through.
- Peter: There must be an artifact, scepter or magic book of some sort.
- Player: Agh, about that ... you caught me there.
- Peter: But it's a feasible way for sure.
- Peter: If successful, we can perhaps finally get Master Mike off from that chair.
- Scene ends
- Peter: I want to do that as well.
- Peter: The first step to getting young people to like brawling.
- Peter: is to let them have a chance to experience brawling.
- Peter: Let them see that arcana is not the only thing you can learn out there.
- Scene ends
- Player: I don't think you need to change at all.
- Player: I mean, your gladiator body is already very attractive.
- Player: If we can host a large-scale brawling competition.
- Player: All of Luxium would show up.
- Player: We can show more people the beauty of brawling.
- Player: That exhilarating feeling.
- Peter: That's a wonderful idea!
- Peter: I want Master Mike to see me in a professional gladiator competition.
- Peter: The competition can also mean great business.
- Peter: That's excellent! We have to drink to this.
- Peter: Hottie! Get me a Bloody Sand
- Bartender: Your alcohol intake is above the threshold of system safety protocol.
- Bartender: We are unable to provide you anymore liquor, please come again tomorrow
- Player: ...
- Peter: ...
- Scene ends
- Player: There is actually a large demand for brawling skills.
- Player: Many military forces require brawling practice.
- Player: Such as the Shadowhunters, the Oathblades, the Defense Force or the Order of Equality.
- Player: If you could co-train the soldiers.
- Player: I'm sure they would be so happy
- Peter: That wouldn't be so good
- Peter: First, the Shadowhunters are too strong for me
- Peter: The Oathblades, the Defense Force or the Order of Equality might need me to train them
- Peter: But that won't change the young people's perception of brawling
- Peter: Besides, I have to protect Master Mike.
- Peter: At most, we can teach some close friends.
- Peter: Really don't have time to train too many people.
- Player: Ri ... Right ...
- Peter: Well it's about time, I have to go find Master Mike.
- Peter: Let's hang out again next time I come to Never Isle.
- Player: Sure, I'll be waiting.
- Scene ends
- Player: These are inevitable things.
- Player: Arcana is not only cool looking, advanced arcana can possibly defeat whole armies.
- Player: Guns and canons have range advantage.
- Player: Canons can be used in sieges.
- Peter: ...
- Peter: You are right.
- Peter: But I can't worry about that now.
- Peter: I need to focus on protecting Master Mike.
- Scene ends

Old Days of Crossport
Yaen reaches you with a can of gift for Peter. You can't reject the girl's request harshly. So take this chance to meet Peter.
- Scene - Never Isle
- Yaen: Hey, Brother!
- Yaen: You know Peter, right?
- All Choices - "I know him." OR "How can I help you?"
- No additional dialog
- Conversation continues after choices
- Yaen: I've got a jar of candy here that I want to give to him as a present. Can you help me take it to him?
- Choice - Sure. But...
- Player: First I need to make sure your gift isn't a prank!
- Yaen: Of course!
- Choice - Why do you want to give him a present?
- Yaen: It's an expression of gratitude!
- Conversation continues after choices
- Yaen: One time I planned on leaving the island to go travel.
- Yaen: So I snuck aboard the Order of Equality's airship and went with them to Harveston.
- Yaen: As soon as the airship touched down, I traveled all over the place.
- Yaen: As I was having my fun, I got lost, and I couldn't find an airship to take me back.
- Yaen: It's really hard to find someone to ask for directions in the middle of the night!
- Yaen: Thank the gods I came across Peter. Even if he was passed out on the side of road drunk!
- Yaen: So I got the brilliant idea to wake him up and ask him for help!
- Yaen: If he wouldn't help me, I'd never be able to catch the airship back to Never Isle!
- Player: You didn't strike me as the grateful type at first.
- Player: All right, I'll help you with this favor.
- Yaen: Haha, great.
- Yaen: But whatever you do, don't eat anything from that candy jar...
- Player: ...
- Yaen: (Whisper) I'll tell you a secret...
- Yaen: (Whisper) The candy in the jar isn't any normal candy. It's medicine wrapped in candy.
- Player: ???
- All Choices - "What kind of thank you gift is this? This is obviously just a prank!" OR "What kind of medicine? I'm not going to help you unless you tell me first!"
- No additional dialog
- Conversation continues after choices
- Yaen: Ay...
- Yaen: I just think...
- Yaen: The last time I saw Peter, he had drunk into a restless sleep. And he was having terrible nightmares...
- Yaen: So I got some sedatives from Mercy. I just want to help him get a restful night's sleep...
- Yaen: I don't mean him harm, honest! I was afraid he'd think they're bitter, so I wrapped them up in syrup and made them into candy!
- Player: All right, I'll believe you this time.
- Yaen: Hee hee.
- Scene - A bar
- Player: ...
- All Choices - "Why are you drinking alone?" OR "Isn't there anyone else in your caravan?"
- No additional dialog
- Conversation continues after choices
- Peter: Master Mike is giving me a day off.
- Peter: Today is the anniversary of his father's death.
- Peter: Carter and Choji went with him to Crossport.
- Player: So you...
- Peter: I've been left behind here.
- Peter: Going with him will just cause him trouble he doesn't need right now.
- Player: I see...
- Peter: Is there something I can help you with?
- Player: Oh, that's right! Yaen asked me to give you these...
- Peter: Yaen? Don't know her.
- Player: ???
- Player: Think. She's that...
- All Choices - "She's the girl that makes spittoons." - 5 Intimacy OR "She's the little prankster girl who's always eating candy." - 8 Intimacy
- No additional dialog
- Conversation continues after choices
- Peter: Oh, I know her.
- Peter: That time I got a little out of control.
- Peter: I accidentally drank some fake wine.
- Peter: She's really pushy, and she kept asking me for directions.
- Peter: What did that little trickster have you give me?
- Choice - A jar of bitter sedative. - 15 Intimacy
- Peter was silent for a while.
- Peter: Apologize to her for me.
- Peter: I'll accept the gift.
- Player: Apologize?
- Peter: She didn't tell you I almost took her head off when she woke me up?
- Player: All she said was you were having a nightmare. What were you dreaming about?!
- Peter: I dreamt that I was squeezing Martin's neck but I couldn't let go.
- Peter: In the dream, he'd been swallowed up by the shadows and was killing people.
- Player: ...
- Choice - A jar of sweet candy. - 11 Intimacy
- Peter: That's very kind of her.
- Peter: But I can't accept the gift.
- Peter: I can't eat things high in sugar, salt, or fat.
- Player: Uh...
- Peter: That little trickster likes to eat candy. Have her eat it herself.
- Peter: Kids are all the same.
- Peter: I remember when Mike and Martin were little, they liked to eat sweet things, too.
- Peter: Anyway, that's all in the past.
- Player: ...
- Conversation continues after choices
- Peter takes a sip of his drink
- Peter: The day I left Crossport, the two of them and their dad said goodbye to me.
- Peter: The day I came back, the only person I could pull out of the fire was Mike.
- Player: ...
- All Choices - "What happened to Mike's family?" - 5 Intimacy OR "You seem unhappy. Would you like me to be with you?" - 11 Intimacy
- No additional dialog
- Conversation continues after choices
- Peter: Come drink with me.
- Player: Okay.
- Peter takes another sip of his drink
- Peter: I try not to think about the past.
- Peter: But today is different.
- Peter: Today is the anniversary of Paul's death.
- Peter: This is the only day I allow myself to reminisce.
- Peter: ...
- Scene - The past, a courtyard
- Martin was getting ready to sneak out to go play.
- Peter: Martin.
- Martin sighed with guilt and walked up to Peter, hanging his head.
- Young Martin: Uncle Peter, I've finished my homework.
- Peter: Did you show your father so he could check it?
- Young Martin: Dad's taking a nap. I didn't want to bother him.
- Martin's eyes fell upon the bean cake sitting on the table of the pavilion.
- Young Martin: Big brother's watching the fish. I want to go, too.
- Young Martin: When he asked me to come out, I wanted to bring a piece of cake to him, but I didn't see any in the kitchen...
- Peter turned and looked at the cake on the pavilion.
- Peter: Take an extra piece. Otherwise, you'll be hungry, too.
- Young Martin: (Shaking head)
- Young Martin: Ever since big brother got a cavity, Father hasn't let me eat any sweet food.
- Peter: Your brother got a cavity because he doesn't like to brush his teeth.
- Peter: Open your mouth and let me see.
- Young Martin: (Opening mouth) Ahh...
- Peter: You don't have any cavities. Go ahead and have some cake.
- Young Martin: (Hesitates, and then shakes head)
- Peter: You don't want to?
- Young Martin: (Shakes head)
- Peter: You wanna go out and play, go out and play. You wanna eat some cake, take some with you. Just pretend like you didn't see me here.
- Young Martin: (Smiles bashfully)
- Young Martin: (Cautiously) Then I'll just have one piece. Only one.
- Peter: ...
- Young Martin grabs a piece of cake then runs off
- Later, Paul walks up to Peter
- Peter: Did we wake you up?
- Paul: What's going on outside?
- Peter: Same as always, the White Capes are stirring up trouble in town.
- Peter: Maybe a little more so than before.
- Paul: It's all for show. There's no need to worry.
- Peter: Hiring me hasn't affected your business, has it?
- Paul: There are only two kinds of people who stop working with me because of this, the short-sighted and the coward.
- Paul: Which is fine. Sooner or later I would stop doing business with these kinds of people, anyway.
- Paul: We just severed our ties a little early, that's all.
- Paul: They've lost their usefulness, but it has nothing to do with the overall situation.
- Peter: I just don't want you to get in trouble on my behalf.
- Peter: You can't settle the matter with the White Capes using money alone.
- Peter: I heard from Carter that they've been aggressively going from door-to-door asking to see identification.
- Peter: They parade the Gyees they catch around in a prisoner cart and then humiliate them on stage before hanging them.
- Paul: I said you don't need to worry.
- Paul: They catch others because they have something to gain from it. They have nothing to gain from taking you.
- Peter: Then would it benefit you to leave me behind?
- Paul: ...
- Peter: No. Things would only get more difficult.
- Peter: You understand the White Capes better than I do. Do you think they'll just give up without having cleansed Crossport of Gyees?
- Peter: Paul, too many people know who I am. Very few actually know about Mike, though.
- Paul: ...
- Peter: You hired me to protect you, and yet you're protecting me.
- Peter: Boss, I can't take your money.
- Paul: Don't talk like this with me. I don't like to hear it.
- Peter: All right, Paul. I can't just wait around here anymore. I want to go back to Harveston.
- Peter: You can tell people that you chased me off.
- Peter: It's all right. I don't mind having a bad reputation.
- Peter: If 'expelling' the outsider can save your family caused by this Gyee crisis...
- Peter: Then exposing my identity will have been worth it, considering it would protect Mike.
- Paul took a deed of title out of his jacket pocket and gave them to Peter.
- Peter: Well...
- Paul: When you agreed to work for me, didn't you say you have to save money to build a Dojo Hall in your hometown?
- Paul: If you want to leave, take these with you. That's the only condition.
- Paul: Otherwise, stay.
- Peter: All right. Once the Dojo Hall's made its principal back, I'll come back and return the money you invested to you.
- Paul: You'll come back?
- Paul: If you plan on leaving like this, do you really think you'll be able to come back?
- Peter: No, I won't be able to come back to Crossport. But that doesn't mean we won't meet again!
- Peter: How about this. Once I've opened ten Dojo Halls in my hometown and I'm even richer than you are, I'll invite you to come visit!
- Paul: I doubt Harveston could hold so many.
- Paul: To get truly rich, you need to control something people need.
- Peter: Then how am I going to make more money than you? What if I opened a bunch in other towns, too?
- Paul: Assuming each arena has the size and income of the boxing gym in Suril, you would need 92.
- Paul: Why don't you just invite me once business is stable and you're preparing to settle down and start a family?
- Peter: Well then you're really going to be waiting a long time!
- Paul and Peter smiled at each other.
- However, both of their smiles were fleeting.
- Paul looked at Peter and it seemed like he had something to say.
- Peter: Make sure Mike's been hidden.
- Peter: More likely than not, the people you've paid to keep quiet will be forced to talk anyway.
- Paul: ...
- Paul hesitated and wanted to say something, but he turned his head and saw Mike sneaking up.
- Mike wanted to sneak past the two men and escape back into his room, but he suddenly ran into them.
- Young Mike: (Nervous) F...father.
- Peter saw that Mike was wet and smelled water on him as he approached.
- Peter coughed twice before Paul could ask anything in order to try to help Mike change the subject.
- Peter: Mike, you shouldn't eat so much cake. It won't do to be such a picky eater...
- Peter: Pretty soon, Martin's going to be as tall as you.
- Young Mike: (Exhales) It isn't my fault.
- Young Mike: (Sticks out tongue) Blame the cooks. Everything they make tastes disgusting! I don't like any of it.
- Young Mike: Uh, Father... I wasn't trying to listen in on your conversation.
- Young Mike: But why is Peter leaving? I don't want him to!
- Paul: Go change your clothes.
- Young Mike: (Stuttering) Y...yes, sir...
- Young Mike walks up to Peter
- Young Mike: (Whisper) But we will see each other again, right?
- Young Mike: (Raises eyebrows) Anyway, Peter. I'll miss you!
- Peter: I'll miss you, too. Martin as well.
- Young Martin runs up to the group but trips and falls
- When he got up, the little koi that had fallen out of his pocket was lying on the ground.
- The koi was no longer moving.
- Young Mike: (Whispering to self) Uh oh...
- Mike shrugged his shoulders and pouted, preparing to pretend crying.
- Young Martin: (Holding back tears, lips quivering) I couldn't save it...
- Paul: Who did this?
- Young Mike: (Rubbing eyes, pretending to cry) I didn't mean to hurt it...
- Paul: I don't like listening to nonsense.
- Paul: Answer the question.
- Young Mike: A...actually...
- Young Martin: Father, I was the one who was playing with the fish tank!
- Young Mike: No, no, no! It wasn't him, it was me!
- Paul: For the last time.
- Paul: (Yelling) Who did this?!
- Martin trembled and didn't dare speak. Mike was scared stiff.
- Mike looked at Martin. Martin hesitated, and then both of them pointed at themselves.
- Peter: (Smiles and sighs) ...
- Paul: There's two things I need the two of you to understand.
- Paul: First of all, covering up the truth, even if your intentions are good, will only end up hurting your brother.
- Paul: Second, accidentally killing the fish while you were playing was a small mistake. Lying was a big one.
- Paul: Mike, take your little brother, and bury the fish.
- Scared, Mike stepped back, unwilling to pick up the fish.
- Paul: Bury it!
- Paul: Take turns carrying the fish on the way to burying it so that neither of you can escape.
- All Mike could do was nod. Martin nodding along with him.
- Paul: Martin, once the fish is buried, go to copy all of chapters 4-7 of Geography book, including charts.
- Paul glanced at his watch.
- Paul: Tomorrow, be sure to come to me on time so I can ask you questions about it.
- Young Mike: (Sticks out tongue)
- Young Martin: (Nods)
- The two boys walk off
- Peter: Looks like Martin fell into the fish tank. It looks like Martin had a pretty bad fall, too.
- Peter: I've got some herbal plaster you can use to reduce swelling. You can put it on the boys this evening.
- Paul: You are too soft.
- Peter: I'm not soft.
- Peter: I'm just trying to persuade you to be a little more...compassionate.
- Scene - The present, at a bar
- Player: Who would've thought...
- Choice - Mike was so clever when he was little? - 5 Intimacy
- Player: They both tried to take responsibility. Not only did that prevent either one of them from taking the whole blame, but it also lessened their punishment.
- Peter: Very astute of you to notice that.
- Choice - Martin was like that a child?
- Player: It's so hard to believe that Martin would later kill his father, burn down his home, and turn to the shadows...
- Choice - That those two brothers used to be so close. - 8 Intimacy
- Peter: ...
- Choice - That Paul treated his sons so differently. - 5 Intimacy
- Peter: He had different expectations of his sons.
- Peter: Whenever they did something wrong, their punishments were always different.
- Peter: Everyone could see that Paul had a favorite.
- Peter: Only the son he loved most did not know.
- Player: ...
- Conversation continues after choices
- Peter: Paul also hesitated.
- Peter: He once asked me...
- Peter: Of the two brothers, who was best suited to take over the family business?
- Peter: Looking back on it...
- Peter: I shouldn't have told him what I thought.
- Peter: I had no right to get involved.
- Peter: But at the time, I had overstepped my boundaries. I cared for the two children.
- Peter: I placed the straw that broke the camel's back.
- Peter: Perhaps even I was taken away by his opinion.
- Peter: He was so callous...
- Player: ...
- Peter: After that day, I ran away from Paul's home and became a fugitive in Crossport.
- Peter: Later on, Mike went into hiding. It was Martin that exposed him.
- Peter: Paul spent a ton of money to get him back, and then hid him in an even more obscure place.
- Peter: It was this that made Paul's methods so extreme.
- Peter: But as for Martin, what happened to him during this time period...
- Peter: No one knows, except for Paul and his caretaker, Carter.
- Peter takes a sip of his drink
- Player: The nightmare that keeps you awake at night is related to what happened to Mike's family, right?
- Peter: ...
- Peter: Have you heard of 'lucid dreaming?'
- Peter: Even though the dream cannot be true, it seems no different from reality.
- Peter: People can detect that they're dreaming and have all the thoughts and memories they'd have if they were awake.
- Peter: When I don't drink fake wine, I often have these kinds of dreams.
- Peter: That fire has burned its way into my dreams...
- Peter: Mike grows up, and Paul invites me to his coming-of-age celebration.
- Peter: In his letter, he writes...
- Peter: How he really feels.
- Peter: That things are starting to take a turn for the better.
- Peter: That he's become quite proud of his son.
- Peter: I arrive right on time.
- Peter: And the scene plays over and over again.
- Peter: The burnt home. The charred bodies.
- Peter: I call it a nightmare.
- Peter: But even the most terrible nightmare is no match for reality.
- Peter: The fire burnt everything from the past into ruins.
- Peter: There was no trace of life anywhere.
- Peter: The smell of shadows and blood lingered in the air.
- Peter: Most of the people who died were so insignificant to Martin that he never spoke a word about them. He didn't even know their names.
- Player: ...
- Peter: I couldn't tell which of the charred corpses belonged to Martin.
- Peter: I grabbed Martin by the neck but I didn't know what to do with him.
- Peter: How did it get the point where he killed his own family and even smiled about it?
- Peter: How did he get a hold of shadow power and pull himself into the abyss?
- Peter: I don't want to understand.
- Peter: ...
- Scene - The past, A burning room with bodies littered throughout
- Martin: (Calmly) I burned my brother's home to the ground.
- Martin: (Calmly) Do you have any idea how long I've wanted to do this?
- Peter: Why would you do this?!
- Martin: (Calmly) When we were little and brother fell into the fish tank, I was the one who saved him.
- Martin: (Calmly) If instead of pulling him out, I'd held him under...
- Martin: (Smiling) I wouldn't need to work so hard getting payback now.
- Peter: Disgraceful!
- Martin: Uncle Peter.
- Martin: This is your last chance.
- Martin: I'm hurt.
- Martin: Kill me now!
- Peter: ...
- Martin: If you miss this chance...
- Martin: You won't get another one.
- Peter: ...
- Martin: (Smiling) I knew it.
- Martin: You're too soft.
- Martin walks away
- Scene - The present, at a bar
- Player: So...
- Player: You let him go?!
- Player: Rather, you let him go, but actually...
- Player: In your heart, you never forgave him, and you never forgot what happened. Right?
- Peter: I let him get away.
- Peter: Until now, I've never told Mike about this.
- Peter: I didn't have the time to blame myself when it happened.
- Peter: Later, I was repeatedly tortured by my guilt.
- Player: ...
- Peter: That day.
- Peter: Mike was barely alive when I carried him out. I looked back at the house.
- Peter: The house Paul spent half a life's worth of sweat and tears to build.
- Peter: All it took to destroy a great family was one fire.
- Peter: I keep thinking I never should have left in the first place.
- Peter: Thinking about it makes me very upset.
- Peter: If I never left, would things have turned out like this?
- Peter: Or would I have been just another body in the rubble?
- Peter takes a sip of his drink
- Peter: I was too late.
- Peter: The only thing that I could save out of that whole family...
- Peter: Only Mike was alive.
- Choices start
- Peter: He was my employer.
- Peter: And now, Mike is my employer.
- Player: But instead of calling Paul 'sir,' 'mister,' or some other title of respect...
- Player: You call him by his first name.
- Peter: We never could get used to those respectful titles. They seemed too impersonal.
- Player: ...
- Player: So by logical extension, you and Mike are actually quite close!
- Player: What's more, you saved his life.
- Player: But I've heard you call him 'Master' before...
- Player: Is that because you're trying to keep some distance with him?
- Peter: Sometimes titles are a good thing.
- Peter: They keep certain relationships from crossing the line.
- Go back to Choices start
- Player: Mike is Paul's son. Do you feel that you have a responsibility to protect him, too?
- Player: Or...
- Player: Are you so ridden with guilt from letting Martin go that you're trying to find some sort of redemption by looking after Mike?
- Player: Or is it that...
- Peter: I don't know.
- Peter: ...
- Peter: All I know is that what I want to do and what I should do are the same.
- Peter: I need to protect Master Mike.
- Peter: I follow his orders to ensure his safety.
- Peter: I don't involve myself in his life or any of his decisions.
- Peter: And I will continue to do so until he no longer needs me.
- Go back to Choices start
- Peter: I can't answer that.
- Player: ...
- Peter: He did something wrong that I can never forgive.
- Peter: And I know that the more he does evil things for the shadows, the more people will want to eliminate him.
- Peter: But supposing that before Mike and I can bring him back...
- Peter: Someone took the first step to fight against the shadows and tried to kill him...
- Peter: I will never just sit back and watch.
- Player: But...
- Peter: For me, there is no 'but.'
- Peter: He was Paul's beloved son.
- Peter: And Mike's dear brother.
- Peter: At the very least, if Mike or I caught him, we might be able to bring him back to life.
- Peter: As for how we'd do that, or how we'd forgve him...
- Peter: That'd be up to Mike.
- Player: ...
- Go back to Choices start
- Player: You could have just returned to your normal, peaceful life after you got away unscathed.
- Player: But you didn't do that.
- Peter: Before I always used to joke with Paul.
- Peter: If he hadn't tried over and over to recruit me, I wouldn't have done it.
- Peter: I wouldn't have left the city to work for him.
- Peter: I'd warn him...
- Peter: That I was only covering him for the time being.
- Peter: That I was waiting to get paid the protection fee.
- Peter: I didn't want to get tied down in this line of work.
- Peter: I wanted to be a boss and turn my own hobby into a business.
- Peter: I wanted to go back to my hometown and run a Dojo Hall and teach people to fight.
- Peter: And if I had the energy, I'd help people train their bodies, too.
- Peter: Once business got stable, I'd hire people to work for me.
- Peter: I'd live a life of debauchery and freedom.
- Peter: It sounded ideal.
- Peter: When I told Paul, he remembered it.
- Peter: He was truly an honest man.
- Peter: He always thought about how he could help me achieve this dream.
- Peter: But as soon as I said I wanted to go...
- Peter: He didn't even try to convince me to stay.
- Player: ...
- Peter: Until the day I really wanted to go...
- Peter: I didn't say much.
- Peter: I could sense in my heart that something was wrong.
- Peter: I didn't want to go.
- Peter: But I had no choice because of the political situation.
- Peter: People can be strange sometimes.
- Peter: Sometimes you say you want something...
- Peter: But you can't be sure if you really want it.
- Peter: Sometimes you don't even know if you've already got what you want.
- Player: ...
- Peter: After I left...
- Peter: I realized my dream.
- Peter: And I started enjoying my time off.
- Peter: But that fire woke me up.
- Peter: Paul's death.
- Peter: Martin's horrible act.
- Peter: Mike's near death.
- Peter: I abandoned someone before.
- Peter: But this time.
- Peter: I know for sure.
- Peter: This is a responsibility I must carry.
- Peter: I am willing to give my life to protect this family.
- Peter: Only by doing this will I feel alive.
- Peter: Of course.
- Peter: When the right time comes...
- Peter: There's a lot of questions I want answers to.
- Peter: Mike and Martin have the answers.
- Peter: Now.
- Peter: I don't care where Mike takes me.
- Peter: As long as I can protect him, that's enough for me.
- Paul finishes his drink
- Player: One cannot live in the past.
- Player: It's good that you've found something important that's worth doing.
- Player: Sometimes, we don't need to understand why our feelings change.
- Peter: Yeah, It's just like I was telling you earlier.
- Peter: I don't think about Paul that often anymore.
- Peter: And I don't often talk about what happened back in Crossport.
- Peter: I just made an exception for today.
- Peter: And because the drinking buddy I happened to run into was you.
- Peter: Finding someone I can talk about this stuff with...
- Peter: I feel a lot better now.
- Player: If you've really gotten it all off your chest...
- Player: I hope you'll do what Yaen said...
- Player: And get some rest!
- Peter: Speaking of rest...
- Peter: As long as I'm exhausted,
- Peter: I can get a really deep sleep.
- Peter: Thank you for your help.
- Peter: If you're not in a hurry to get back...
- Peter: One of the Dojo Halls I operate is nearby.
- Peter: There's a rest area there.
- Peter: Let's go train for a bit, and once you've rested up, you can go back. How about it?
- Player: Haha, all right.
