Nemesio - A former vice leader of the Oathblades who later became an exile.

He walks his own path and hunts Shadows everywhere he goes.

Dwelling in the Shadow, he longs for the Light.

Intro[]

Nemesio was THE MAN until he turned 28.

He joined the Young Azrians at 11, recruited by Unit 7 in Azria at 15 and promoted to captain in one year, then led the charge in the Battle of Azria and scored merits. After the battle, Markus formed the Oathblades and made a 19-year-old Nemesio the deputy commander, going undefeated for 8 years in campaigns throughout the land to earned the moniker 'God of Legions'.

But at age 28, he committed two sins to begin his fall from grace. First, he ordered troops to burn down a village and killed every Shadow, White Cape, innocent villager within. Those villagers were the very Gyees he had set out to rescue. Second, after burning down the village, he led soldiers to track down the Shadow's stronghold, but his recklessness caused the whole army to be ambushed and wiped out, with him the sole survivor.

The two transgressions got Nemesio kicked out of Oathblades. He then left Never Isle and sought to improve himself at any cost, just so he could find, slay the mastermind behind the Shadow's invasion and avenge his shame.

Scripts[]

Consolation Letter[]

I must say sorry for my previous transgression. I'm sure you have noticed that I could hardly control myself when fighting the Shadow.

So next time you encounter the similar situation, please keep your distance from me and don't offer me help even when I'm in danger.

Because some people are bound to fail others' kindness.

Bath Drama[]

  • Will Martin be here?
  • Aren't you afraid that Shadow Flux inside me would contaminate the water?
  • The Shadow Flux seems to have quieted down while I am bathing...

Fave Hottie Slogan[]

I can't even recognize myself like this. Heh, just so long as I didn't scare you. I won't demand your vote.

Intimacy Breakthrough[]

This section contains spoilers for Intimacy Breakthrough scenes.

-Intimacy Level 4
Nemesio: Thanks.
Nemesio: But I have no place for these gifts, nor I can reciprocate.
Nemesio: So I'm afraid I can't accept.
Nemesio: Please forgive me.

-Intimacy Level 5
Nemesio: What's wrong, why the long face lately?
Nemesio: What's bothering you? Or making you mad?
Nemesio: I'm just here to tell you how I deal with it.
Nemesio: You have no right to be hurt if you can't channel the pain into motivation.
Nemesio: You don't have to be like me, but you can still consider it as an option.
Nemesio: Maybe it will help you.

-Intimacy Level 6
Nemesio: I've said this before.
Nemesio: The type of person who remembers a kindness but still betrays,
Nemesio: is not worthy to be a friend.
Nemesio: Are you feeling lucky now?
Nemesio: Just treat me like a Shadow-killing machine.
Nemesio: It's the best for both of us.

-Intimacy Level 7
Nemesio: You got wine?
Player: What makes you want to have a drink with me today?
Player: Here's the wine list for you to decide.
Nemesio: Anything will do, as long as it’s alcohol.
Nemesio: I got something for you. We can talk over a drink.
Player: Ok.
Player: ('Nemesio has been away from Never Isle for six years now...')
Player: ('I bet he'd appreciate a Never Isle Ice Tea from home.')
Scene transition
Nemesio: This is a list of cultists I compiled, included are 34 senior members.
Nemesio: It has their common aliases, bases of operation, and physical traits.
Nemesio: I've eliminated 15 of them.
Player: Wow, you're good...
Nemesio: I don't have much time left. I gotta finish the score.
Nemesio: So I won't be able to get the 19 who are left.
Nemesio: I want you to give this list to Miles. He knows what to do.
Player: You sure you don't want to hand it in yourself?
Nemesio: I believed we've already discussed this.
Nemesio: Wait, this drink isn't the Never Isle Ice Tea, is it?
Player: Yeah. You'd really want to go back, don't you?
Nemesio: I don't like to be pressed.
Player: You aren't denying it, so that proves you do want to.
Nemesio: You shouldn't do some things just because you wanted to.
Player: While I don't know the past Nemesio, but I could still sense it...
Player: I don't see the old you as the kind who wouldn't do what he wanted to do.
Nemesio: Stop trying to persuade me. We can't live in the past.
Nemesio: Promise me you'll give the list to Miles. It's how you can help me the most.
Player: Sure, but on one condition.
Player: We're going to take photos together. You keep one, I keep one. Nobody's allowed to lose it.
Nemesio: No problem. Where?
Player: On an airship over Never Isle with the island in the background, how's that?
Nemesio: Fine, as long as it doesn't land.
Player: Deal!
Nemesio: You got it.

-Intimacy Level 8
Nemesio: I agreed to a picture with you and I'm not one to renege.
Nemesio: But I nevertheless must remind you...
Nemesio: You have enough friends without me.
Nemesio: And me, I fear for anyone who sees me as a friend. I've hurt enough people already.
Nemesio: It's foolish to invest effort into connecting with someone who spurns friendship.
Nemesio: Don't you think everyone drowning in a quagmire hopes for an extended hand, either.
Nemesio: The muck I'm it is my own fault, my own sins.
Nemesio: I'll only pull the helping hand down with me and add to my sins.

-Intimacy Level 9
Nemesio: I feel even if I turn to the Shadow now...
Nemesio: Losing all control in a mindless murder spree...
Nemesio: I still won't hurt you...
Nemesio: Can this be instinct? The instinct to spare you?
Nemesio: Maybe we can try to be friends, after all?
Nemesio: Never mind, pretend I never said it.

-Intimacy Level 10
Nemesio: I've been nervous ever since we make the date for taking pictures.
Nemesio: Is it homesick?
Nemesio: Or fear of a new life?
Nemesio: Or helplessness and confusion brought on by emotions beyond rationality?
Nemesio: Humans are indeed complicated...
Nemesio: Not only do I not understand you, I don't even understand myself.
Nemesio: We should go get our pictures taken soon.
Nemesio: The faster we get it done, the quicker I can resume hunting down Shadow.

-Intimacy Level 11
Player: Tomorrow is the selfie with Nemesio over Never Isle...
Player: He should be very happy to see how prosperous the island is.
Player: He probably wants to visit the island but is afraid he'd be recognized...
Player: What if we put him in a disguise?
Player: Hey, you know, take him to The Rupor Show!
Player: It will be fun and you can dress him up in whatever!
Player: Let's give him a ticket to The Rupor Show!
Scene transition
Nemesio: That's it for the selfie.
Nemesio: Come on, let's go.
Player: How come you didn't say anything on the trip at all? You don't want to take selfies with me?
Nemesio: Look at all this...
Nemesio: I'm speechless. It's too much for me to take in.
Nemesio: All I can process is the city is so gorgeous, so many changes, I'm so happy to be with you...
Nemesio: I just don't know how to express all these feelings without being awkward...
Player: It's not awkward. It's more natural when you don't process it.
Nemesio: Okay, we really ought to go.
Player: What's the matter, you want to jump down to Never Isle?
Nemesio: Yeah.
Player: Hey, that was a joke...
Nemesio: I know.
Nemesio: No it wasn’t.
Nemesio: A master swordsman once told me that death is the only way to immortalize a perfect moment.
Player: I'm guessing he never had a picture taken before.
Nemesio: You're right.
Player: Should I land this thing and take a few more shots on the island?
Nemesio: No, we agreed to not landing this thing.
Player: Don't worry, no one will recognize you in this getup.
Nemesio: Forget it, I already stand out in my own.
Nemesio: Thanks for the thought, though, we should...
Player: You know, you'd blend in perfectly at The Rupor Show.
Nemesio: Rupor?
Nemesio: Is someone impersonating her?
Player: It's her younger brother Rupol. He dresses up like her to keep this show going!
Nemesio: Really? He was such an introvert...
Player: What? You said he's an introvert?
Player: But it sounds like you know them and know them well!
Nemesio: Yeah, I took the guys to see the show a lot back then.
Nemesio: Crazy as I was, I even went on the stage before.
Player: Then you should go for old time's sake!
Player: We'll watch off the stage. Rupor won't spot you!
Player: Think about this, you get to go back to the island, watch The Rupor Show, and not be recognized.
Player: Three birds, one stone!
Nemesio: ...
Player: Quit being wishy-washy. I got your ticket already!
Nemesio: Fine, let's go.

-Intimacy Level 12
Nemesio: Okay, since you said we've been friends.
Nemesio: Must I say it myself?
Nemesio: Okay.
Nemesio: You, {NickName}, are my, Nemesio's, friend.
Nemesio: And the first friend I have in six years.
Nemesio: And possibly the last, too.
Nemesio: I have a request. It might sound extreme, but...
Nemesio: If I should undeniably become a Shadow one day...
Nemesio: I want to die by your hand.
Nemesio: Oh... All right.
Nemesio: I won't mention it if you don't want me to.

-Intimacy Level 13
Nemesio: You're right, actually.
Nemesio: If you can release and free yourself,
Nemesio: You can have a new life.
Nemesio: But I know full well what I want all along.
Nemesio: Happiness, health, prosperity...
Nemesio: None of that interests me.
Nemesio: What I want all along...
Nemesio: Is to complete my mission and die a glorious death on the battlefield.
Nemesio: Before then, I just want to revenge my fellows and slay as many Shadows as I can...
Nemesio: Even if the heart-wrenching pain goes on for a hundred, a thousand years...
Nemesio: I'll still call it a blessing.
Nemesio: Did that scare you?
Nemesio: But that's me.
Nemesio: A terrifying me, but also the truest me.
Nemesio: Do you still not leave me?
Nemesio: Make a decision before I'm at the point of unable to leave you.

Dates[]

This section contains spoilers for Date scenes.

Fire & Water

-Intro
Nemesio: I have a question for you.
Player: Yes.
Scene transition
Nemesio: As an outsider, you would be neutral and offer unbiased opinion.
Nemesio: I would like to know...
Nemesio: How do you see the relationship between Order of Equality and Oathblades?

-A near-unmitigable quandary - 500 Intimacy
Nemesio: Yeah, we concur.
Nemesio: These two factions will always have conflicting goals and approaches.
Nemesio: The quandary will exist for as long as they exist.
Nemesio: Even when they collaborate, there are problems.
Nemesio: You're right. Thanks for the comment.

-necessary oppositions. - 900 Intimacy
Nemesio: Necessary?
Nemesio: You mean the conflict between them must exist?
Player: Yeah, because on Never Isle, some will back the Oathblade, others will back the Order.
Player: It's unavoidable.
Player: If the balance between the two is ever upset...
Nemesio: I see!
Nemesio: Those who are in the minority will be
Nemesio: discriminated and suppressed by the majority.
Nemesio: That is exactly how normal people discriminate against Gyees.
Player: Yeah, it could very well come to that.
Nemesio: Yes...
Nemesio: That is the deepest, most thoughtful perspective on the issue I've heard yet!
Player: Well, maybe you're just too close to see the trees!

-complement each other. - 700 Intimacy
Nemesio: You can always see the bright side of any issue.
Nemesio: True, even if the Light of Purity had excellent commanders, logistics and weaponry...
Nemesio: It still wouldn't compensate for the lack of military tradition and combat experience.
Player: It goes beyond military, actually.
Player: The Oathblade and the Order of Equality were originally founded to benefit our kindred.
Player: Different approaches result in different benefits.
Player: We must fight the White Capes and get along peacefully with normal people.
Nemesio: That's right. The Order can't do the former, and Oathblade can't handle the latter.
Nemesio: They do sound complementary.

Upgrades

-Intro
Nemesio: I need your thoughts on improving a weapon.
Player: Yes.
Scene transition
Player: No problem, but I don't know much about weapons at all.
Nemesio: It's all right, I'm just looking for inspirations.
Nemesio: Better than working in a vacuum alone.
Nemesio: It's a bow, but it's the arrow that kills the enemy.
Nemesio: So how I improve the bow determines how I improve the arrow.
Nemesio: Any idea for improving my Flux Arrows?

-Chargeable fletching. - 700 Intimacy
Nemesio: Fletching, chargeable...
Player: Yeah, they're Flux arrows, not physical ones!
Player: Shouldn't increase velocity with a bow, but with Flux!
Player: You charge Flux into the rear before shooting,
Player: and the energy should discharge to boost its speed!
Player: That's what is called a 'rocket'!
Player: Rockets' are propelled by a powerful jet of air...
Nemesio: Very interesting!
Nemesio: Love the idea. This should make it fly faster and do more damage!
Nemesio: Thanks! I'll try it out now and show you later!

-Explosive shaft. - 900 Intimacy
Nemesio: You mean channeling unstable energy into the shaft to make it explode on impact?
Player: Yes.
Nemesio: Huh, the shaft, not the tip... Interesting.
Nemesio: First, it's not unusual or a surprise to have the tip explode.
Nemesio: Second, exploding tips may affect a wide area, but lose penetration as well.
Nemesio: It's good occasionally, but not a top choice.
Nemesio: Third and most importantly, I face mostly Shadow proficient with Flux protection.
Nemesio: Even if a tip could penetrate their defenses, it would still lose power.
Nemesio: But if I could make the shaft explode after the tip had penetrated...
Nemesio: It would propel the tip to do greater damage!
Player: I was just making stuff up... Didn't think it would actually work!
Nemesio: Don't you ever pretend to not know anything again! What you said...
Nemesio: is so much better than what I could come up with!
Nemesio: Explosive shaft... Got it. Thanks!
Nemesio: Now we'll see how the Shadows deal with this!

-Sharper tip. - 500 Intimacy
Nemesio: The tip is the core of any arrow.
Nemesio: But my arrow is formed from Dark Flux.
Nemesio: It has more than sufficient power against anyone without Flux protection.
Nemesio: Also, my chief nemeses are from Shadow who can control Flux...
Nemesio: So my concern is how the tip can better penetrate their Flux Barrier.
Player: Flux-disrupting tip?
Nemesio: I thought about it, but that would trip my own Flux up too.
Nemesio: So I had to give up.
Nemesio: Thanks. I'll try to conceive out-of-box improvements.
Player: It's all right, I don't think I helped much.

War's End

-Intro
Nemesio: You know, I've been pondering lately...
Player: Yes.
Scene transition
Nemesio: Maybe I'm getting way ahead of myself with this, but I'd like to know what you think.
Nemesio: If and when the war is over, the Shadow is banished again, or even completely destroyed...
Nemesio: What would you do then?

-Going home. - 700 Intimacy
Nemesio: Indeed, you're not from this world, after all.
Player: How about you, don't you miss Never Isle?
Nemesio: I miss it very much.
Nemesio: But what can I do after I go back?
Nemesio: I realized once the war ends, there's nothing left for me.
Nemesio: Other than war and fighting, I know nothing.
Nemesio: If I go home after the war,
Nemesio: maybe I'll enjoy weeks, perhaps even months of happiness,
Nemesio: but then I'll be lost, in a crippled body.
Nemesio: Or maybe not. There's always possibility for a new job, a new life...
Nemesio: Life is full of changes.
Nemesio: How about you, what are you going to do back home?
Player: Maybe continue living my old life.
Player: Or turn my adventures in this world into a book, and include you!
Player: How's 'Legends of Gyee' sound for a title?
Nemesio: I think that's a surefire best seller.
Nemesio: I just hope when the people in your world read about Nemesio,
Nemesio: they won't get depressed by his rotten mood.

-Stay and help out. - 500 Intimacy
Nemesio: Why would you stay and help?
Nemesio: Don't you want to go back to your homeworld?
Player: I do... and I don't... I can't explain it.
Player: I really don't want to leave here and the friends I made.
Player: I also want to see what's the world like after the war.
Player: So even if I wanted to leave, I'd wait a while, at least to say bye to everyone.
Player: And I expect the war against the Shadows will be a struggle.
Player: There will be a lot of destruction and losses in the aftermath.
Player: I want to stay behind and help the victims.
Nemesio: I see...
Nemesio: If I live till then and manage to purge myself of the Dark Flux,
Nemesio: don't forget to look me up.
Nemesio: I'll be one of the victims who'll need your help.
Player: Oh, you're stronger than that!
Nemesio: Thanks.

-Haven't thought about it. - 900 Intimacy
Nemesio: Have you never thought about it before?
Player: Not until you asked, no.
Player: I think... I still don't know what I'm going to do.
Player: It's too far into the future and there's too many variables.
Player: So most of my guesses would be wrong, anyway.
Player: Plus, you're setting yourself up for a big letdown with too much optimism.
Player: And you're in anguish until then if you're too pessimistic.
Player: So might as well don't think about it at all.
Nemesio: I get it...
Nemesio: It's meaningless to ponder too far ahead.
Nemesio: I'll focus more on the now.

Dangerous

-Intro
Nemesio: Can we meet tonight? At the same spot.
Player: Yes.
Scene transition
Nemesio: I am glad you can come.
Nemesio: Today I am simply here to say thank you.
Player: Thank you?
Player: Why?
Nemesio: Ever since I met you,
Nemesio: the shadow flux inside me has become more stable.
Nemesio: I figure that's because of you.
Player: But I have done nothing.
Nemesio: Maybe so.
Nemesio: But these past few years, the Shadow inside of me has been so quiet.
Nemesio: This is the first time.
Nemesio: Other than having you in my life.
Nemesio: Nothing else has changed.
Nemesio: The quieter the Shadow in me, the better I can control it.
Nemesio: The less chance I would lose my senses.
Nemesio: Meanwhile I can better use the Shadow flux to fight my enemies.
Player: Anyway it is good news after all.
Choice - I guess that is the power of friendship?
Nemesio: I don't need friends.
Nemesio: I am not a loyal person.
Nemesio: Obviously I have told you this before.
Nemesio: But you didn't listen.
Nemesio: Maybe it really was because of your company?
Choice - Is it because of the presents?
Nemesio: Although I don't think this tiny ornament would work.
Nemesio: But thank you anyway.
Nemesio: Sometimes in the middle of a quiet night, it can be interesting to look at.
Nemesio: A bit of fun when I am bored at night.
Choice - The wine from Hottie Bar can cure the Shadow?
Nemesio: Speaking of which, since I don't show up in public.
Nemesio: It's been a very long time since I've had a normal drink.
Nemesio: I tried to brew my own wine.
Nemesio: Unfortunately they always taste horrible.
Nemesio: But it's not hard to find out whether your wine can cure the Shadow.
Nemesio: Next time I will bring some and splash them on the Shadow.
Player: It is a good idea.
Nemesio: Guess it won't happen though, I probably would have finished the wine half way there.
Conversation continues after choices
Player: Look at you, you will soon be back at Never Isle.
Nemesio: Never Isle?
Nemesio: Argh! (covers the chest)
Player: Are you okay? Are you not feeling well?
Nemesio: Back off! Now ...
Player: Hey! Hang in there!
Nemesio: Hooo ... fuuuu ...
Player: You want to sit down and have a rest?
Nemesio: You should leave!
Player: Eh?
Nemesio: Do you not see it?
Nemesio: I ... I am dangerous, get out of here!
Nemesio: Go away!
Player: (The Shadow energy in Nemesio seems to be unstable again.)
Player: (What should I do?)

-Choice A: Leave - 200 Intimacy
Player: Okay ... okay, I am leaving.
Player: Contact me when you need me.
Nemesio: Okay.
Scene ends

-Choice B: Stay
Player: Calm down!
Player: It's fine now!
Nemesio: No!
Nemesio: There's no way that I will ever be completely recovered.
Nemesio: I told you!
Nemesio: Someone like me deserves no friends!
Nemesio: Leave!

-Choice B.1: Leave - 200 Intimacy
Player: Okay ... okay, I am leaving.
Player: Contact me when you need me.
Nemesio: Ok.
Scene ends

-Choice B.2: Placate Nemesio - 500 Intimacy
Player: I am not leaving you alone.
Nemesio: !!!
Nemesio: Thank you, I am fine now.
Nemesio: You are the first one to not run away seeing me go berserk up close.
Player: It's not the first time.
Nemesio: When I lose control, I might hurt you or even kill you!
Player: Maybe, but I am still intact.
Nemesio: Humph ... it'll be too late when you can't say these things anymore.
Player: Well, who knows what the future will bring?
Nemesio: (Smile)
Nemesio: It's not bad to have someone here after going berserk.
Nemesio: It feels much less lonely.
Player: If you want I can stay here for a little bit more.
Nemesio: Ha! Next time.
Nemesio: Evidently I have been negligent this time.
Nemesio: The Shadow becoming quieter doesn't mean I would not lose control.
Nemesio: I still need more time to observe and feel the Shadow inside me.
Nemesio: Ordinary thinking is not enough to deal with the Shadow out there.
Nemesio: It's the same for the Shadow in me.
Scene ends

-Choice B.3: Hug Nemesio
Nemesio: I am dangerous! Why are you walking towards me!
Player: (Hug Nemesio)
Nemesio: What! What are you doing?
Player: Hey! I am here. It's fine.
Nemesio: Hmmm ...
Nemesio: Phew ...
Nemesio: I don't even know if you are really stupid or just pretending to be.
Player: You can say I am stupid. But I am not leaving you alone.
Nemesio: I am fine.
Nemesio: Only stupid people like you would stay.
Nemesio: Ever since I left Never isle.
Nemesio: You are not the first one to approach me.
Nemesio: But you are the only one still willing to stay close with me.
Nemesio: Other people were either scared away by me.
Nemesio: Running away yelling things like monsters or demons.
Nemesio: Or ...
Nemesio: Die by my hands.
Player: It's all in the past.
Player: Don't be so harsh on yourself with things in the past.
Nemesio: Did you know?
Nemesio: If I hadn't controlled myself and had gone berserk just now.
Nemesio: If you had gotten injured or worse ...
Nemesio: I would never forgive myself.
Player: There is no 'if' in history.
Player: I am still fine now, am I not?
Nemesio: As you can see.
Nemesio: I will never be able to go back to Never Isle.
Nemesio: I almost thought the Shadow has gone quiet.
Nemesio: And just now I had almost lost control.
Nemesio: Never Isle would never accept a merciless Shadow.
Choice - You are a hero, you are not a Shadow.
Nemesio: Hero? No, I am just a butcher.
Nemesio: I will never pay off all my sins in this lifetime.
Nemesio: I just wish I can give back just a little bit whenever I can.
Player: But you are not a Shadow. You are a Gyee!
Nemesio: You may think so but most others don't.
Nemesio: To a lot of people I am a Shadow.
Choice - Your capability and experience is the key to defeating the Shadow!
Nemesio: No, in terms of commanding I am not as good as Markus or Will.
Nemesio: In terms of intellect I am not as good as Jonas or Vundo.
Nemesio: Never isle ... doesn't need me.
Player: But your combat capability and your experience of fighting the Shadow.
Player: Not everyone on Never Isle has those.
Nemesio: In terms of combat sooner or later Miles is going to exceed me.
Nemesio: I can just pass on my experience of fighting the Shadow to you.
Nemesio: Never Isle doesn't need my existence.
Conversation continues after choices
Player: But you do want to go back, don't you.
Player: You miss Never Isle!
Nemesio: Of course!
Nemesio: Never Isle is a holy place for me.
Nemesio: I used to call that home.
Nemesio: The order I swore my loyalty to, and my brothers.
Nemesio: All my past is on Never Isle.
Nemesio: I do want to go back. But not now.
Nemesio: At least I can't go back like this.
Player: ...
Nemesio: All these years, being all alone outside has not been all bad.
Nemesio: Free as a bird, no restrictions.
Nemesio: It's another experience.
Player: There must be ways to bring you back!

-Choice B.3.1: When the Shadow is destroyed, we will triumph like heroes. - 700 Intimacy
Nemesio: When the Shadow out there is destroyed?
Nemesio: When the Shadow out there is destroyed
Nemesio: the Shadow in my body might be the last one left.
Player: No! I am sure you can control it by then.
Nemesio: Maybe.
Nemesio: But this is still the Shadow, an unstable element.
Nemesio: Shadowhunters or even Never Isle itself
Nemesio: would execute me as the Shadow.
Player: No! It won't happen!
Nemesio: That world will need better heroes compared to me.
Nemesio: But by then,
Nemesio: I think I will have paid off my sins.
Nemesio: I am rather happy to see you.
Nemesio: When there is no one at Hottie Bar.
Nemesio: Invite me for a drink.
Scene ends

-Choice B.3.2: There must be ways to cure the Shadow in you. - 900 Intimacy
Player: There must be ways to cure the Shadow in you.
Player: Like flux fragments.
Nemesio: Maybe, but now I won't cure it.
Player: Huh? Why?
Nemesio: Although the Shadow is dangerous, it's not severe enough to corrupt me.
Nemesio: On the contrary, I feel we are merging as one.
Nemesio: This allows me to use the Shadow from its perspective.
Nemesio: To understand the enemy's habit, and anticipate their actions.
Nemesio: I can even disguise as one of them and join them.
Nemesio: This way I can collect much intelligence from our enemy.
Nemesio: Create opportunities for our military.
Player: This is too dangerous. It's not worth it.
Nemesio: If I can use the Shadow in me to provide advantages for us.
Nemesio: Help us win the war.
Nemesio: Then I don't care what happens to me.
Player: What if you get corrupted?
Player: And what if you are found out by the Shadow?
Nemesio: If I get corrupted completely, then it's simple.
Nemesio: Kill me.
Nemesio: If I am discovered by the Shadow.
Nemesio: By then I can finally put an end to my sins.
Player: I will never let that happen!
Player: Never!
Player: I will fight with you till victory comes.
Player: I will try my best to cure you by then.
Player: And then we will triumph together!
Scene ends

Years Left in the Thornbush

'Got a minute? Let's go for a walk and a small chat.- Nemesio' This guy thinks about how to slay Shadows. And he's totally mad when he fights. Is this just a small chat?

-Part 1
Scene - Forest
Player: How come you want to go for a walk with me all of a sudden?
Player: And at this time, this place?
Nemesio: You'd be desperate too, if the Shadow and their carcasses were the only ones you could talk to for six years.
Nemesio: You'd want to talk to anybody, especially someone you could get along with.
Player: So all you really wanted was to chat?
Nemesio: Sorry for losing control of myself in battles.
Nemesio: But I never meant to harm you, and really would like to chat with you.
Nemesio: After all, you know more about my home than I do, and I know more about your foes than you do, right?
Choice - You do look milder in that getup. - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: Thanks.
Nemesio: I've changed a lot in six years, though no one's ever told me I'm mild.
Nemesio: I haven't seen Never Isle for six years,
Nemesio: I guess it's changed a lot too.
Choice - You've never been back to Never Isle in six years? - 8 Intimacy
Nemesio: Yeah. Six years... She is different every year in my memory.
Nemesio: The only thing constant about her is her changes.
Nemesio: I can't imagine what she looks like now.
Choice - What can you tell me about the Shadow?
Nemesio: It's good to care about your enemy.
Nemesio: But if I were you, I wouldn't be in a rush to break the mood.
Nemesio: Don't worry, I'm not one to rehash memories, otherwise I'd be dead by now.
Nemesio: But for me who lost everything I held precious, memories are the only thing valuable left.
Choice - I want to know you better. - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: Me? The me now or six years ago?
Nemesio: I guess you won't see that so-called 'God of Conquest' from six years ago.
Nemesio: I have lost everything I held precious, memories are the only thing valuable left.
Conversation continues after choices
Nemesio: I saw a fleet of four, five airships the other day, all marked with the Order of Equality's olive branch logo.
Nemesio: Looks like Jonas made a boatload of money.
Nemesio: I don't really dig him, but gotta admit he treats his kind well.
Nemesio: The day I left Never Isle, the Order's freight ships were in port with bricks, probably to build ramparts.
Nemesio: Maybe the ramparts are made of marbles now, like when Harmon expanded Azria.
Nemesio: We in Unit 7 were hunting for food for everyone when I first got to the island.
Nemesio: Jonas was doing much business then, and would go logging with Will from Unit 4.
Nemesio: Everyone lived in a crude wooden shed, with someone always talking on a soapbox.
Nemesio: While the guy orated, the rest of us would only think about Azria and our dearly departed.
Nemesio: Someone started crying, then everyone followed, then the guy speaking, too.
Nemesio: I hated it before, but would reminisce now, even long for it.
Nemesio: Jonas and Markus were always passionate about making speeches, and Vundo, too.
Nemesio: Vundo is just a year older than me. When Battle of Azria broke out, he had only been a teacher for a week.
Nemesio: I guess he was born to lecture.
Player: Does anyone go to his lectures now?
Nemesio: Impossible, someone still goes to his lectures?
Choice - Turing.
Nemesio: Turing became his student?
Nemesio: Though I remember he was building airships just after he left Never Isle.
Nemesio: Don't tell me Vundo switched to teaching about machines!
Choice - Kitty
Nemesio: Is that the kid hanging around you? He a student of Vundo's too?
Nemesio: The guy sure knows how to pick the right pupils.
Nemesio: Even though the kid didn't seem the studious type.
Choice - Chang.
Nemesio: I saw him when I was on the island, heard he runs the Cannye shelter now?
Player: Ok.
Nemesio: He has a very diverse lot of graduates.
Choice - I don't think so.
Nemesio: I bet he's still the same.
Nemesio: Chain smokes, lecture in screeching voice, hardly shaves, and wears shabby coats.
Player: You just described him to a 'T'.
Conversation continues after choices
Nemesio: I actually sat in on his class once. Good lecture, but there was always something about it...
Nemesio: That made it hard for people to focus on the topic.
Nemesio: How's he doing now? Pretty good?
Player: He's currently the head of the Arcana Academy.
Nemesio: What about Master Seren, is he doing fine?
Nemesio: He's Vundo's teacher, who brought us to settle Never Isle.
Player: I'm not sure. He might be in recluse, or retirement, perhaps meditating all day.
Nemesio: It's good as long as he's still around.
Nemesio: How are the Oathblades doing?
Player: It's a major player. Most Capes I ran into literally turned white when Oathblades is mentioned.
Player: I heard their first reaction is to run whenever Oathblades show up.
Nemesio: They're that way all along.
Nemesio: I wanna to know if you knew these people:
Nemesio: Markus, Miles, Gaar. How are they doing?
Player: Uh, I only know Miles.
Player: He's using Turing's weapons like you now.
Nemesio: That I knew.
Nemesio: He runs around making trouble all the time, knows nothing about laying low.
Nemesio: He's made it to the top of the White Capes' most wanted list, yet still goes it solo.
Choice - Aren't you operating solo too? - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: I can't help that now, but I wasn't like that in Oathblades.
Nemesio: I'd bring as many soldiers with me as I could every single time.
Nemesio: Perhaps he's that way because of my one defeat,
Nemesio: in which every man was killed in action,
Nemesio: except, unfortunately, me.
Player: (So that means Nemesio was the sole survivor?)
Nemesio: Miles cared about nothing, himself, or how the world sees him.
Nemesio: But he will always care about his men.
Nemesio: But does he know how his men feel about him operating alone?
Nemesio: They cared about him too.
Nemesio: Please try to convince him when you see him again, but don't tell him it's my idea.
Player: Ok.
Choice - Were you on top of that list? - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: Yeah.
Nemesio: About one-third of the White Capes died by my hand in that battle.
Nemesio: I killed folks helping the Capes too, since they hated me more than the Shadow.
Nemesio: That caused controversy even on Never Isle.
Nemesio: But now, I'm missing completely from the list.
Nemesio: Huh, can't believe the Capes have totally forgotten about me.
Conversation continues after choices
Nemesio: Do you know the Order of Equality, Jonas, Will, and Eddie?
Choices start
-Choice A - I heard Jonas is filthy rich. - 2 Intimacy
Nemesio: He becomes a success, after all.
Nemesio: I remember nobody but some merchants went in when he started the Order.
Nemesio: And they were just testing the water and didn't think highly of the venture.
Nemesio: Because his money and goods perished with Azria, so he borrowed seed money from us.
Nemesio: But there were two people who stuck with him throughout: Will and Eddie.
Nemesio: Will is to be expected, since he was old pals with Jonas.
Nemesio: But I think Eddie is a fool for chasing the dream of a harmonious Azria and not facing reality.
Nemesio: He's dreamed and toiled about it for seventeen years now.
Nemesio: It's no longer a dream but a religion.
Go back to Choices start

-Choice B - Commander Will got himself a lot of armed airships. - 2 Intimacy
Nemesio: Looks like he's woke up now.
Player: Woke up?
Nemesio: Yeah, he'd still be dreaming if it weren't for the Shadow.
Nemesio: When Jonas had no money and Will had no army, he couldn't show off his abilities.
Nemesio: But now Jonas is a big success, he has to suppress his own might so Jonas won't be public enemy.
Nemesio: He's suppressing himself because he feared how others might react.
Nemesio: That is Will for you. I admire what he can do, but not how he does it.
Nemesio: Although I must say he made the right bet in Jonas.
Nemesio: Logistics are always the most vital issue for an army.
Nemesio: If I had had the airships and cannons back then, I wouldn't be down and out today.
Go back to Choices start

-Choice C - Eddie now runs Special Ops for them. - 2 Intimacy
Nemesio: The post is a better fit for him.
Nemesio: Eddie is smart and a marksman with the bow, but he's too much of a good guy.
Nemesio: People like them aren't suitable for business or management.
Nemesio: But don't think I'm belittling him.
Nemesio: It's harder to be goody-two-shoes than successful, and more meaningful, too.
Nemesio: I ain't a good guy, my glory was built on piles of skulls and bones.
Nemesio: I finally played the good guy six years ago and I'm still paying for it now.
Player: (He played the good guy six years ago? There must be more to what happened...)
Player: (He's very different from the previous crazy self, I should find an opening to ask.)
Go back to Choices start

-Choice D - Why do you want to know about the Order? - 2 Intimacy
Nemesio: Soldiers of the Oathblades, money of the Order, Arcana of the Arcana Academy.
Nemesio: You need all three to defeat the Shadow.
Nemesio: Jonas is an intelligent man, probably the smartest guy I know, so I hope he realizes that fact.
Nemesio: That's it about Never Isle. It's enough for me.
Nemesio: I'm afraid I'll never snap out of it if I kept going.
Nemesio: Let's talk about something you cared about... Let's talk about our enemies.
Nemesio: Follow me.
Go to Part 2

-Part 2
Nemesio: You asked me three questions and I still have two to answer.
Nemesio: I picked late night because the Dark Flux in me is more likely to surge during the day.
Nemesio: The Shadow is more powerful in the dark, but also quieter,
Nemesio: as opposed to the Shadow being more active and ferocious from resisting daylight.
Nemesio: You saw me when I was berserking.
Nemesio: It's difficult to find someone to chat with and I don't wanna scare you off.
Nemesio: As for location, Will's base is to the northeast, the direction we're looking in now.
Nemesio: I plan to scout it out tomorrow, so I'll spend the night in the woods.
Nemesio: He has two armies, one along both banks of Eversun River with a bridge between. Eversun is to its west, Kaigon to the east.
Nemesio: The other is stationed in the mountains southwest of Elysiann.
Nemesio: He is positioned in the middle of the Kaigon - Broken Toe - Elysiann triangle to cover all sides.
Nemesio: I don't think I need to go into the importance of Kaigon.
Nemesio: Will seems to be recruiting in Elysiann. Broken Toe is where the Water Nexus is.
Nemesio: Eversun is actually the gateway to Never Isle. The Shadow must take it before invading Never Isle.
Nemesio: What do you think about his defensive setup?
Choice 1A - Looks tight to me.
Nemesio: Yes, it is tight and thorough.
Nemesio: But had it been me, I'd give up Eversun so it's not necessary to split my forces or recruit in Elysiann.
Nemesio: Because your forces are vulnerable when spread out.
Nemesio: I'd just hold Kaigon.
Nemesio: Kaigon guards, Broken Toe Shadowhunters, and the Light of Purity have never collaborated before.
Nemesio: So it's very risky counting on timely mutual support in a crisis.
Nemesio: Although Eversun is the gateway, you can give it up.
Nemesio: Let the Shadow come if that's what they wanted.
Nemesio: We'll suffer great losses, yes, but theirs will be greater.
Nemesio: The people will complaint, but who cares when you win the war?
Player: But what if you lose Never Isle?
Nemesio: Then we'd lose Eversun anyway, no need to defend it.
Nemesio: However, Will's got good instinct for it, even if he does second-guess himself.
Choice 1B - Military and geography aren't my thing... - 8 Intimacy
Nemesio: It's okay, that's not for you to worry about.
Nemesio: I'm talking to you about it because I want you to know how he thinks.
Choice 1C - Why do you care? - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: I care about Will's defense strategy because I want to know if he could stop the Shadow.
Nemesio: I'm talking to you about it because I want you to know the idea behind his strategy.
Choice 1D - Kaigon seems to be the focus when there's no focus. - 11 Intimacy
Nemesio: That's right!
Nemesio: He's hoping to cover all bases.
Nemesio: But that only encourages a foe to gamble.
Nemesio: Because covering all bases means there are openings everywhere.
Nemesio: Also, it's hard to predict the enemy's move if you don't show them your weakness.
Nemesio: I'd give up Eversun and Elysiann, and not split the force.
Nemesio: I'll only defend Kaigon, because if it falls, so will everything else.
Nemesio: However, Will's got good instinct for it, even if he does second-guess himself.
Choice 1E - It appears solid, but passive in actuality.
Nemesio: Since his army will never move faster than the Shadow's portal.
Nemesio: Is that what you want to say?
Choice 1E.1 - Yes. - 8 Intimacy
Nemesio: That is a concern, but the Shadow needs time to muster and activate portals too.
Nemesio: We can solve that problem with effective aerial recon.
Nemesio: This is a big reason I'm scouting Will's base, to see if he is properly prepared for the portals.
Nemesio: But what I really want to talk about is how Will thinks.
Choice 1E.2 - Any defensive formation is passive. - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: You're right, offense is actually the best defense, the reason why Oathblades would always best the Capes.
Nemesio: But that's not feasible against the Shadow.
Nemesio: What are you going to do, lead an army and invade their Shadowland?
Nemesio: Nobody's ever done that in history. You're not considering trying it, are you?
Player: Uh...
Nemesio: You don't have to worry about Will's defense strategy but how he thinks.
Conversation continues after choices
Nemesio: Obviously, he's banking on the enemy coming after Kaigon.
Nemesio: Given the nature of the Shadowbeasts and their reliance on portals, the Shadow is more suited to attack.
Nemesio: And judging from their present available force, they can't afford a frontal assault.
Nemesio: March, ambush, pillage, then run.
Nemesio: Their goal is not taking as many cities as possible but to create maximum chaos.
Nemesio: If they manage to sack Kaigon, that will cause unprecedented chaos.
Player: But can they take the Mecca?
Nemesio: It's heavily warded. The Shadow wouldn't even make it through the gate.
Player: Okay.
Nemesio: But history tells us impregnable fortifications also breed complacency,
Nemesio: as in the case of Azria.
Player: Will the Shadow really attack Kaigon?
Nemesio: It's a small chance, but it cannot fall or the whole world is plunged into panic and fear.
Nemesio: Commander of the Shadow army will have to decide whether to ignore it or go all out.
Nemesio: That means Rita or Martin.
Nemesio: I know more about those two than you do.
Nemesio: Since Martin gave me these scars!
Choices start
-Choice 2A - What is Martin like?
Nemesio: We fought our first battle six years ago, I shot an arrow through his shoulder.
Nemesio: He pulled it out, ripping a big chunk of flesh with it, and turned the gushing blood into flame.
Nemesio: Martin is a madman and a gambler.
Nemesio: He will bet everything he has because he believes the higher the stake, the greater the return.
Nemesio: He knew well he could stand to lose everything, but still didn't care.
Nemesio: He isn't one to mull over consequences and will examine every possible outcome.
Nemesio: Then implement all his crazy plans and walk right into the fire.
Nemesio: A cool, collected madman and a calculated gambler.
Nemesio: Also, the legion and cultists are actually independent of each other.
Nemesio: Other than Martin, who's a noble appointed to serve only the Legion, but he offered territory to the cultists.
Nemesio: Archbishop Grey Serpent supports him, so he can enlist cultists if necessary.
Nemesio: In essence, he commands the biggest army outside the Shadowland.
Player: What are his weaknesses?
Nemesio: Loves to gloat, but he also knows when to brag and when to hold off.
Nemesio: The gloating probably comes from childhood suppression. People like him hate it but often endure the longest.
Player: That doesn't sound like much of a weakness, though.
Nemesio: And like commander, like soldiers.
Nemesio: His men are madmen, gamblers, and like to gloat, as well.
Nemesio: But not anyone can convert madness into strength.
Nemesio: Not all gamblers are winners, either, but they'd surely lose without Martin's ability and fearlessness.
Nemesio: As for gloating, they like to imitate Martin but don't have any idea when to stop.
Nemesio: So although they showed each of the three traits, they're not good soldiers.
Nemesio: That is why Martin couldn't make the most of them and must over-rely on his plans and himself.
Nemesio: Plus, Martin just have to fail once for his army to possible turn on each other.
Go back to Choices start

-Choice 2B - What is Rita like?
Nemesio: Rita is utterly stubborn and a martyr.
Nemesio: She's so stubborn, she will not give up, no matter what.
Nemesio: What's worse is she understands patience, so she clings on to her course.
Nemesio: She's ready to die, but death isn't her goal, because she understands how valuable she is to the Shadow.
Nemesio: But if it's worth more for her to die than to live, she won't hesitate to choose the former.
Nemesio: She's a rational mule and a shrewd martyr.
Nemesio: And, as you've witnessed, she is persuasive.
Player: So how about her weakness?
Nemesio: She overstates her importance as Gyee. What's more, she believes we all think like her.
Nemesio: And she overestimates her own ability and will never miss a chance to try to persuade a Gyee.
Nemesio: So if worse comes to worst, you can fake a surrender.
Player: That is a good idea!
Nemesio: Also, Rita is not on Martin's level when it comes to fighting, and neither is her army.
Nemesio: Rita belongs to the Shadow Cult, and more accurately, the Blood Sect.
Player: What's this?
Nemesio: It's too complicated even for me.
Nemesio: I feel the tenets and schools of the Shadow Cult are more complicated than Kaism.
Nemesio: Religion has never been my forte.
Nemesio: I'm sure, though, that she and her men have to taint the animals to compose her force.
Nemesio: So she doesn't have a big army to begin with, and it's scattered throughout the world.
Nemesio: It would be difficult and time-consuming for her to mobilize her troops.
Nemesio: Take the Altar of Ursus, for example;she couldn't have succeeded without diversions.
Nemesio: Both of there two are ruthless, dangerous... and young!
Nemesio: Their backgound showed they are talented and able to go straight to the top.
Nemesio: But the one who discovered, nourished, and manipulated them are truly to be feared.
Nemesio: And we have no idea who that is.

-Choice 2C - Martin was already at it six years ago? - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: Eight years ago,
Nemesio: he burned down his own home on his 18th birthday, then joined the Cult and studied under John for two years.
Nemesio: During that period, he tainted animals, plundered villages, recruited cultists.
Nemesio: At 20, or 6 years ago, the Shadowlord himself granted him nobility and land in the Shadowland.
Nemesio: From then on, he battled the old-guard tribes in the Shadowland.
Nemesio: 4 years ago, Rita showed up in Shadowland and formed their first partnership.
Nemesio: 2 years ago, Rita left and began converting animals to build up an army.
Nemesio: Martin only returned recently, but this time with John serving as his minion.
Player: How did you learn all that?
Nemesio: I made my rounds in Shadowland over the last few years.
Nemesio: I blended in with them and looked even more Shadown than most of them.
Nemesio: There was no way I could've killed Martin there, though, so thank God he's back!
Nemesio: Besides, it was getting harder to control my body every time I visited Shadowland.
Nemesio: The dark energy within me will consume me one day.
Nemesio: It could be a year from now, or a few months.
Player: Any way to treat it?
Nemesio: Yes.
Nemesio: I have to destroy this body when the time comes.
Nemesio: That's the only way to treat it.
Go back to Choices start

-Choice 2D - You're very detailed in your analysis...
Nemesio: I must avenge my brothers and myself.
Nemesio: I must learn everything I can about my enemy.
Player: You know a lot about the Shadow.
Player: There's isn't another person on Never Isle, even the whole Luxium, who knows more about the Shadow and how to deal with them.
Choice 2D.1 - You should rejoin Oathblades and lead them.
Go to Part 3
Choice 2D.2 - You should tell everyone what you know. - 8 Intimacy
Go to Part 4

-Part 3
Nemesio: Go back...
Nemesio: You still don't seem to know who I am.
Nemesio: I personally killed a Gyee I swore I would save. I killed my servant, I killed countless brethren...
Nemesio: I destroyed my own future, I cut off my own right hand, I severed my own past.
Nemesio: I can't stop destroying. I've destroyed everything I love, except for Martin and John.
Nemesio: And... I just can't stop!
Nemesio: I'm constantly destroying my Shadow, and my sanity!
Nemesio: I don't even know what I'm thinking anymore...
Nemesio: Even the White Capes forgot me... I don't have yellow eyes!
Nemesio: When I... Well... Let me calm down... Oh...
Nemesio: *snores*
Nemesio: They were dark purple... the color of the Shadow.
Nemesio: It's as you've seen before, slipping into madness. It doesn't matter who my enemy is, I have an urge to kill.
Nemesio: You still don't understand?
Nemesio: I am not worthy to be a Gyee nor to fight alongside you.
Nemesio: A person like me can't go back and lead anyone.

-Choice A - What happened six years ago?
Nemesio: It's the same as what you know--village massacres, raids, exiles...
Player: But I guess things just aren't that simple.
Choices start
-Choice A.1 - Were you forced to massacre the village?
Nemesio: The village was tainted by Shadow. Some White Capes were there, and they were corrupted, too.
Nemesio: You've been in that situation before... I had to deal with it.
Nemesio: I couldn't let my men venture into it, lest I wanted them to be what I am now!
Nemesio: My only option is to set fire to the place.
Go back to Choices start

-Choice A.2 - As for the defeat, no one really understood the Shadow then.
Nemesio: But there were a lot of other factors that played a role, too.
Nemesio: The intel was not delivered on time. I was afraid of delaying the warships, so I traveled light. We only brought two horses each.
Nemesio: We whipped them to go as fast as they could, so we arrived in three days and two nights. But the horses were so tired afterwards, we had no way back.
Nemesio: Everyone was tired, we didn't have enough manpower and were underequipped.
Nemesio: So if there had been an airship then, I would not be who I am today.
Nemesio: We burned the village, destroyed the Shadow artifacts, and found two survivors.
Nemesio: One was a White Cape hiding in the water tank that mostly steam by then. I pulled him out and killed him.
Nemesio: The other was an old man whose white hair was scorched black from the fire. He collapsed beneath the rubble of an old brick wall.
Nemesio: When he awoke, he cried out that his grandson was dead and that justice was blind.
Nemesio: A year later, I finally learned his name... John.
Choice A.2.1 - Did you show mercy?
Nemesio: I could see now that he was a cultist and the mastermind of this whole incident.
Nemesio: You can't be soft in that situation.
Nemesio: But I made a more serious mistake: I pretended to be soft and let him go.
Choice A.2.2 - You didn't see through it?
Nemesio: I saw through it.
Nemesio: But I made a more serious miscalculation: I pretended to be soft and let him go.
Choice A.2.3 - You let him go? - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: Yeah, that was the gravest mistake I made in my whole life.
Conversation continues after choices
Nemesio: He said his daughter had been married off in the neighboring village, so I had my men accompany him and leave a powdery trail.
Nemesio: I wanted to find the hideout and destroy it.
Nemesio: Clearly, I underestimated them.
Nemesio: Martin laid a trap and John led us right to it. He beat us at our own game.
Nemesio: The Shadow jumped everyone in my army but me.
Nemesio: I sent up a flare and Miles came to save me.
Go back to Choices start

-Choice A.3 - Exile? Self-exile, perhaps.
Choice A.3.1 - Of everyone who knows, you're the only one left alive.
Nemesio: Yes, I could blame the Shadow and still be thought of as a military genius.
Nemesio: I'm not a good person. I have many disgusting traits.
Nemesio: But I'm not shameless.
Nemesio: So I decided to jump into the abyss from the alter.
Nemesio: I stood in the square where Markus once spoke and told everyone on Never Isle the truth.
Nemesio: I accepted that I would be tried and go into self-exile.
Nemesio: I thought it was just a bottomless pit.
Nemesio: But there was an endless bramble of thorns at the bottom.
Nemesio: But even so, if I could go back, I would do it all again.
Choice A.3.1.1 - You did the best you could. - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: ... Thank you.
Go back to Choices start
Choice A.3.1.2 - That was a bit selfish. - 8 Intimacy
Player: Your departure is a loss for both the Oathblades and Never Isle.
Player: If you were still on Never Isle, maybe the battle against the Shadow would go differently.
Player: Not that I'm blaming you for leaving, no one has the right. I just...
Nemesio: No no, everything you've said is right.
Nemesio: I've harmed the community for the sake of being honest and for personal honor.
Nemesio: But... I can't do it. I can't come back.
Nemesio: If I have lied to you, let me suffer humiliation. I live in secret and in fear... I can't do it.
Nemesio: I'd rather hide in the exile than become everything I despise.
Nemesio: If you dare to risk it, you might have the strength and spirit to muster through. And people might stop feeling so lost?
Nemesio: I can't do it. I really can't do it...
Go back to Choices start
Choice A.3.1.3 - Sometimes people need to be flexible.
Nemesio: I agree.
Nemesio: It's just that if everything has to change, people will have no standards, no bottom line.
Nemesio: I think that whether things have to change or not shouldn't be determined by the seriousness of the consequences of the matter, but by the nature of the matter, itself.
Nemesio: It only matters if it reaches the bottom line of people's standards.
Go back to Choices start
Choice A.3.2 - People are still willing to follow you?
Nemesio: Ok.
Nemesio: You've seen what I'm like now. I'm already too far gone.
Nemesio: I am a sinner, a waste of space. I am not fit to lead them.
Choice A.3.2.1 - You're limiting yourself. - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: Well, Will has said something similar.
Nemesio: He said it's a flaw in my character.
Nemesio: I can stretch without bending. Even if the sky falls, I will stand up straight at the top.
Nemesio: It's who I am and I until I die, I'll not choose to escape.
Nemesio: It's not good, but I don't have any other options. I'm just that kind of person.
Nemesio: Maybe I care too much about other people's opinions.
Nemesio: I was very of myself as a child. Well, I've always been that way.
Nemesio: Although it has made me very lonely, I guess I'm still arrogant.
Nemesio: At the age of 10, I killed a big snake with a rock, saving my neighbor's uncle.
Nemesio: For the first time, I knew what having respect felt like.
Nemesio: I changed from a self-righteous guy to a brilliant hero in their eyes.
Nemesio: This feeling... like joy... I know that all feelings pass with time, but I want to keep this feeling.
Nemesio: That's the reason I joined the Young Azrians. I worked harder than my peers. After that, I was recruited into Unit 7.
Nemesio: That said, I have always been diligent.
Nemesio: I wasn't born to be diligent. No one is. People are only born to be greedy or perhaps diligent for the sake of greed.
Nemesio: What I really hate to have lost is the respect of the people.
Nemesio: I know they... can't respect me like they used to.
Nemesio: If I lied, maybe my situation would improve.
Nemesio: But I would have lost respect for myself.
Nemesio: I can hide from everyone else this way... But I can't escape myself.
Nemesio: Perhaps this 'can't escape' is what's tying you up.
Go back to Choices start
Choice A.3.2.2 - Continuing to fight despite setbacks is more impressive than always winning. - 8 Intimacy
Nemesio: Gaar has said the same thing.
Nemesio: He said everyone has bad luck, and the God of Conquest is no exception. He said losing is normal, but you must be able to afford to lose.
Nemesio: He said I couldn't afford to lose!
Player: Gaar is...
Nemesio: The only survivor of that battle besides myself.
Nemesio: I didn't know he was still alive until I left Never Isle.
Nemesio: At the time, he had lied on top of the dead. Martin burned him, and in order to survive the battle, he just laid there until the end.
Nemesio: He was the only scum deserter of my squad.
Nemesio: Because I went into exile, this guy yelled at me, claiming I was running away.
Nemesio: He said he would prove the meanings of hypocrisy and despicableness to me.
Nemesio: To this day, I don't know where he is. I secretly asked the Oathblade to say he is dead.
Nemesio: I also don't know how this kid proved anything... But even if he can prove something, can I wait long enough for it?
Go back to Choices start

-Choice A.4 - What do other people think?
Nemesio: Some said I shouldn't have raided the village, some said I shouldn't have taken a risk.
Nemesio: Some said I was bright and upright, and others said I was courageous.
Nemesio: The members of Oathblade didn't mention my crime. They promoted my legacy everywhere and allowed me to keep in service.
Nemesio: Of Will, Mira, Eddie, and Albert, whose perspective would you like to hear?
Choices start
-Choice A.4.1 - Will. - 2 Intimacy
Nemesio: He said Nemesio could have hidden the truth, but he was an honest gentleman and calmly faced his punishment. He said that was worthy of respect.
Nemesio: Oh, I was called a 'gentleman' for the first time.
Nemesio: Will thought that 'military assets' shouldn't be exiled, but removed through mandatory retirement with compensation.
Nemesio: He understands what the consequences would be. Retiring from the military, for me, is really a paid vacation.
Nemesio: Will... is actually very interesting.
Nemesio: When I was injured, he came to see me. He helped me let go of the past and cheered me up.
Nemesio: It's a pity that I've never known how to be a good person.
Nemesio: I handed him the bottle of wine, so he could have a sip.
Nemesio: I know what he thinks about this. His father was an alcoholic, and he hated him the most.
Nemesio: Of course he won't drink. Who could get over that?
Go back to Choices start

-Choice A.4.2 - Mira. - 2 Intimacy
Nemesio: She said, in any case, that Gyee are not to hard other Gyee. And that's just what Nemesio did. He turned his back on his oath.
Nemesio: I think highly of this girl. She's smart, hardworking, and, most importantly, pure.
Nemesio: She came to Never Isle defense team for four years to fill a pretty low ranking position.
Nemesio: In general, the Defense Force is pretty silent about any Oathblade matters. Izumi, the captain, hasn't said a word about it.
Nemesio: But she won't compromise. She sticks to what she believes in.
Nemesio: What's more, she surprisingly is very considerate.
Nemesio: All she did was criticize me. She didn't punish me or even bring up the possibility of punishment.
Nemesio: I haven't asked you, how is she doing these days? It's been six years, surely she didn't stop at being captain of a small brigade.
Player: Well, she is now chief commander of the Defense Force.
Nemesio: The lazy bastards on the Force are going to suffer. They don't know how to complain behind someone's back.
Go back to Choices start

-Choice A.4.3 - Eddie. - 2 Intimacy
Nemesio: Eddie's take is interesting. At the time, it was a huge spectacle.
Nemesio: Eddie said Nemesio's village raid was inevitable, and given the situation, if he had hesitated, even more innocent people would have died.
Player: Where is the disbelief coming from? Does it not make sense?
Nemesio: Don't worry, then he published his conclusion...
Nemesio: He said the Oathblade and ordinary people should settle their differences and fight together against the real enemy -- the Shadow!
Nemesio: We are all human beings. We are all the same. We shouldn't fight again!
Choice A.4.1.1 - That... makes sense...
Nemesio: Yes, he is right, but Oathblades aren't his to control.
Nemesio: Ordinary people should be left to the White Capes and are even less his business.
Nemesio: The White Capes rounded up Gyee everywhere, and you expect us Oathblades to put away our swords and work with him?
Player: Seems to be a bit idealistic.
Choice A.4.1.2 - It seems that no one cares for him.
Nemesio: He has no control over the Oathblades!
Nemesio: Ordinary people should be left to the White Capes and are even less his business.
Nemesio: The White Capes rounded up Gyee everywhere, and you expect us Oathblades to put away our swords and work with him?
Conversation continues after choices
Nemesio: Eddie has always been smart and insightful, but he is the person who knows what to do.
Go back to Choices start

-Choice A.4.4 - Albert. - 2 Intimacy
Player: Is Albert the grandfather of Mercy, Yaen, Kitty, and runs the orphanage in Kaigon?
Nemesio: No, I don't know Mercy or Yaen.
Nemesio: But we the people we're talking about should be the same person. His orphanage used to be in Azria.
Nemesio: Miles and Izumi both came from his orphanage.
Nemesio: He's not Gyee, and he's never lived on Never Isle, but he's always disliked me. He thinks I corrupted Miles.
Nemesio: But that kid has liked to kill from a very young age, which might also be my fault.
Nemesio: Albert's beliefs are the most interesting. He thinks that I have killed too much and that the gods are punishing me for it.
Nemesio: I was turned into shadow by shadow. He would go so far as to say it is a punishment from the gods?
Nemesio: He also said that however you treat the world is how the world will treat you.
Nemesio: I was burned because I set fire to that village.
Nemesio: I can agree with that. I burned so many shadows, so they burned me. It seems fair.
Nemesio: ... At that point, I didn't believe in any gods or in fate. I only believed in myself.
Nemesio: Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe Albert was right.
Go back to Choices start

-Choice A.4.5 - Ah, so that's it.
Nemesio: Why are you so interested in my business?
Choice A.4.5.1 - We have common enemy, so that makes us allies. - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: Yes, it is perfectly normal to get to know your ally.
Nemesio: However, it seems I don't understand you yet.
Nemesio: It's very late. You should go rest.
Nemesio: If I get the chance, I will come find you again.
Nemesio: Good night.
Scene ends
Choice A.4.5.2 - You are my friend. - 11 Intimacy
Nemesio: ... My friend.
Nemesio: It would not be wise to be my friend.
Nemesio: I will do you harm, and you will have to deal with my strange disease.
Nemesio: You'll watch me turn into a Shadow every day. You'll watch me suffer, and you'll watch it helplessly.
Nemesio: And I won't make much time for you as your friend. And it won't be long before I up and leave you.
Nemesio: More importantly, I will not treat you as a friend.
Nemesio: So, kid, before you go around making friends, let's be clear.
Nemesio: Not everyone can be friends, and not everyone should have friends.
Nemesio: Goodbye.
Scene ends
Choice A.4.5.3 - I'm a curious person.
Player: I'm curious about everyone's business.
Nemesio: Is that so?
Nemesio: You're curious about the Shadow because they're curious about you.
Nemesio: It's getting late, you should get some rest.
Nemesio: If you have any questions about the shadows, you can come ask me.
Scene ends
Choice A.4.5.4 - I think you're still the God of Conquest. - 8 Intimacy
Player: Because you bravely endure the pain, always insist on fighting, and you never give up or feel depressed.
Nemesio: Forget it. I'm nothing but a dying deformity now.
Nemesio: I didn't give up the fight, but I no longer fight for the Oathblades.
Nemesio: It's very late. You should go rest.
Nemesio: If there is important information about the shadow, I will let you know.
Nemesio: Good night.
Scene ends

-Choice B - Don't get worked up... Let's talk about something happy. - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: Forget it. I've already said more than enough about my past.
Nemesio: I've said it before, but I can't get trapped in my memories, my dreams. I finally have to wake up.
Choice B.1A - Negative emotions make the Shadow stronger. - 8 Intimacy
Player: If you can talk about something happy, it will slow the Dark Flux's hold over you.
Nemesio: Okay, you've convinced me.
Nemesio: It's just that I can't think of anything happy.
Choice B.1B - Night is for dreaming. - 5 Intimacy
Player: Don't take this too seriously, and in the daytime, you will wake up, naturally.
Nemesio: You speak too lightly.
Nemesio: Killing and reminiscing are both my antidote and my poison.
Nemesio: They both ease my pain, but one deprives me of my reason, and the other robs me of my will to fight.
Player: Then let's talk about a memory that doesn't rob you of your will to fight.
Player: For instance, you could talk about a childhood memory or an experience that made you feel confident.
Nemesio: Sounds good.
Choice B.1C - You're not talking about yourself, you're talking about someone else. - 8 Intimacy
Nemesio: All by myself?
Player: Yeah, you could talk about your childhood.
Player: I really want to know what you were like before.
Conversation continues after choices
Choices start
-Choice B.2A - Why did you join the Young Azrians so young?
Nemesio: Um, I'll start with my childhood.
Nemesio: I was born on the outskirts of Azria, and from then on I aspired to have a life inside the city.
Nemesio: I was very of myself as a child. Well, I've always been that way.
Nemesio: Although it has made me very lonely, I guess I'm still arrogant.
Nemesio: At that time, I looked down upon the neighborhood children, and they didn't like me, either. They often banded to ostracize me.
Nemesio: At the age of 10, I killed a big snake with a rock, saving my neighbor's uncle.
Nemesio: It was my first time knowing what it was like to be respected. In an instant, I went from being excluded to being respected.
Nemesio: I went from a self-righteous guy to a brilliant hero in their eyes.
Nemesio: This feeling... like joy... I know that all feelings pass with time, but I want to keep this feeling.
Nemesio: That was the time that I decided to join the Young Azrians.
Nemesio: The Young Azrians was founded Lord Az. For decades, it has produced heroes.
Nemesio: I only had one dream at the time, and it was to be a big hero.
Nemesio: Most of the boys should have thought about it this way.
Go back to Choices start

-Choice B.2B - When did people start calling you 'God of Conquest'?
Nemesio: Nine years ago,
Nemesio: on Markus's 40th birthday,
Nemesio: we were celebrating his birthday, but it was me who became the 'God of Conquest'.
Nemesio: Looking back now, I was a total hellraiser...
Player: What did you do?
Nemesio: I robbed a White Cape camp.
Player: How big was it?
Nemesio: Their biggest one.
Nemesio: I had 39 guys with me and Miles was one of them.
Nemesio: We disguised ourselves as tobacco dealers from Eversun and bribed the guards of Crossport.
Player: You robbed Crossport?!
Nemesio: Well, we bought 40 horses in the city.
Nemesio: We waited for nightfall, then we set fire and killed the people there.
Nemesio: We brought Markus the heads of 40 White Capes as a gift.
Player: That is ruthless!
Nemesio: It was total chaos, but we still split up. They didn't know who hit them, so they ended up killing each other.
Nemesio: We were all just riding around, trying to get out of there while picking off anyone in an officer's uniform.
Nemesio: Eleven of us were hurt and three lost their horses. But we all came back with 'gifts'.
Nemesio: Markus was so angry that it really wasn't a victory.
Nemesio: He was incensed since many innocents were killed and Kaigon publicly denounced Never Isle.
Nemesio: But at the same time, the White Capes dismissed their commander because of what we did.
Nemesio: There was a massive cleansing all over the world, and Gyees were imprisoned and burned alive.
Nemesio: Because I robbed Crossport, all the world is in chaos, even Never Isle.
Nemesio: Since then, the Oathblades have called me 'God of Conquest', whereas the Order of Equality condemned me as 'The Butcher.'
Nemesio: Both monikers are apt. Even though I didn't kill any civilians myself, their deaths are still my fault.
Choice B.2B.1 - The White Capes should assume responsibilities too... - 5 Intimacy
Player: After a few fires burned and a few officers died, it became that way...
Nemesio: Yeah, I can't imagine that they would be so incompetent, either.
Nemesio: That made it much easier for me.
Choice B.2B.2 - Politics are complicated. - 8 Intimacy
Nemesio: Yeah, Markus probably understood it.
Nemesio: It was a present for him. I just wanted to give him a surprise.
Nemesio: He really didn't know anything. He woke up to many accusations of murders.
Nemesio: Come to think of it... I've always made him miserable...
Nemesio: But I can't seem to feel any guilt. At the time, my thoughts were this:
Nemesio: I hoped that he wouldn't be too angry and that he would live a long, healthy life.
Nemesio: Don't ever put me in this position...
Go back to Choices start

-Choice B.2C - What was the bravest thing you ever did?
Nemesio: When people are at their bravest, they're often also at their scariest.
Nemesio: You came to me to talk about this. Are you looking to make me feel better?
Player: Well, I've heard when you talk about what you feared, it won't be a fear, anymore.
Player: And isn't it all in the past?
Nemesio: After the attack on the village, all my brethren were killed.
Nemesio: After that, I stood in the square where Markus had spoken, and I told everyone the truth.
Nemesio: Was I brave enough to throw myself into the abyss from the altar?
Nemesio: But I've been trembling all the time.
Nemesio: I can't even look them in the eye. I wish I couldn't hear anything.
Nemesio: And it just won't go away.
Nemesio: I thought it was just a pit, but the bottom had an endless bramble of thorns.
Player: Sorry, I shouldn't have reminded you of this.
Nemesio: It doesn't matter. This has always inspired me.
Nemesio: If I dared to do all this, what wouldn't I do?
Nemesio: If I can bear this, what couldn't I bear?
Go back to Choices start

-Choice B.2D - Are you starting to feel better?
Nemesio: Hmm... thank you.
Nemesio: Talking with you is more pleasant than you think.
Nemesio: I'll come find you again next time I have a chance.
Nemesio: Sleep well. Good night.
Scene ends

-Choice C - Sorry, I'm being thoughtless. - 11 Intimacy
Nemesio: No, I'm the one who should apologize.
Nemesio: Now, it's getting harder and harder to control my emotions.
Nemesio: We'll have a chat here today. You should go rest a bit now.
Nemesio: Good night.
Scene ends

-Choice D - Would you ever go back to Never Isle? - 8 Intimacy
Nemesio: Yes... Never Isle is sacred to me.
Nemesio: How could I have possibly allowed any Shadow anywhere near that place?
Choice D.1 - You are not a Shadow, you are a Gyee. - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: ... Thank you.
Nemesio: But I'm only a Gyee temporarily.
Nemesio: I have changed into a shadow before. You've seen it... Knowing I have that side of me, do I really deserve to be called a Gyee?
Nemesio: If that side breaks out on Never Isle? What if I accidentally kill someone?
Nemesio: It is best if I let her... exist only in my dreams.
Nemesio: Really, it isn't too early. You should rest now. Goodbye.
Scene ends
Choice D.2 - What if it can be cured?! - 8 Intimacy
Nemesio: No, I can't be cured.
Player: What if we have the Shard of Light and help from the Kaists?
Player: I'm with the Order of Light, maybe I can find a way.
Player: Even the most corrupt can be saved.
Player: You have such strong will, and that's why you're not Shadow yet. Surely there is a way.
Nemesio: Thank you. I know you have good intentions.
Nemesio: But you know why I cut off my right hand?
Nemesio: Because it became useless.
Player: ...
Nemesio: I now rely on Shadow energy to defeat the Shadow.
Nemesio: If it is cured, I'll be useless.
Nemesio: Okay, so talking with you is more pleasant than you think.
Nemesio: Just come here first today.
Nemesio: You should get some rest. Good night.
Scene ends

-Part 4
Nemesio: Yeah, I'm not telling you this.
Choice A - Don't worry, I will help you talk. - 8 Intimacy
Nemesio: Thank you.
Nemesio: Talking with you is more pleasant than you think.
Nemesio: I'll come find you again next time I have a chance.
Nemesio: Sleep well. Good night.
Scene ends
Choice B - Why don't you tell everyone about this? - 5 Intimacy
Nemesio: Maybe it's because I don't want to die quite so fast.
Player: What do you mean?
Nemesio: I could go see some old friends, but not now.
Nemesio: I don't want to have influence on them or be influenced by them.
Nemesio: Besides... It would be embarrassing for them to see me this way, wouldn't it?
