Martin - Mike's younger brother.
Shadow's Senior General.
Can you save him from the darkness or will you be seduced into his embrace?
Intro[]
Martin was born into a noble family in Crossport. Father Paul raised him and his elder brother Mike on his own. Paul found the brothers the best school, hired the best private tutor and arranged for Carter, the only son of the butler, to take close care of them. Apparently, they were living in a better-off environment. But in fact, they were carrying heavy loads and lacking love from the other parent.
Young Martin was an excellent student thanks to his diligence. Also, he had a keen sense of justice and morality. In the contrast, Mike resigned himself to fun, indolence and petty tricks. Nevertheless, Paul never praised Martin but became stricter with him.
Turning teenager, Martin was found to be a Gyee by accident. The news traveled to the whole city but was muffled by Paul with the standing and wealth of the family. Paul grounded Martin and promised the White Cape that he would cure his 'Gyeenia'. Since then, Paul never paid attention to Martin, but shut him down for two years solid...
In the dark room, over-depressed Martin resorted to self-mutilation... It was in the blood that he heard the call of Shadow... That voice attracted him, echoing in his head day in an day out, and amplifying his hatred...
On Mike's 20th birthday, Martin walked out of that dark room, Shadow's fire surrounding him. The birthday banquet saw the entire family burnt down to the ground. Since that fire, Martin had been gone for eight years. When he reappeared, he was a Senior General serving Shadow.

- Gaar: I spent two full years to investigate Martin. From his birth to his 18s when he became a Shadow and burned his Dad, and to his 20s when he left the Shadowcult for Shadowland... I've got all data in place. And I haven't sold that to the White Cape. Come to me, if you are interested.
Gaar's Intimacy reaches Lv.2 to unlock - Rita: You must be curious about why someone like Martin who has no experience but loves taking risks... would command the main force outside the Shadowland. Well, only out-of-the-question tasks would be assigned to him.
Rita's Intimacy reaches Lv.4 to unlock - Nemesio: He's a psycho, a gambler. But it's not that he never thinks about the consequences. Rather, he would through all consequences and then carry out his crazy plans step by step. He's an adept magician with fire. He's a cool psycho, a shrewd gambler.
Nemesio's Intimacy reaches Lv.6 to unlock - Mike: I can tell right from wrong. People unforgiveable like Martin, I will make sure they are dead! Tell me when you know anything about him. I guarantee I spare no mercy before justice!
Mike's Intimacy reaches Lv.8 to unlock - Crossport Resident: Martin... Ooh, he's such a good boy when he's little... Who could ever imagine this...
- A White Cape General: Now you see? Yellow Eyes, all of them are evil. Some people just hide so well that people mistake them for the nice guys! So, gotta eliminate the Yellow Eyes as soon as possible, otherwise they would turn Shadows eventually!
- Captured Shadowcult Swordsman: Don't ask me about Mr. Martin. Just kill me. Please! Otherwise Mr. Martin would put God's fear in me before I die!

Consolation Letter[]
The other day I asked you whether you wanted to be friends. You didn't give me a straight answer. Then how would you expect me to answer you?
I told you that if it were someone else, I would have told them they were unworthy right away.
But with you, I am really torn.
For people like us who never believe in friendship, it means the world to acknowledge that someone is your friend.
But I guess it's even harder for you. Befriending a despicable Shadow? Ha!
How is it possible to forget your moral values and other people's judgement?
I have a way to get out of the dilemma: Find me a bottle of perfume. If I like it, then you are my friend.
Bath Drama[]
- Such a boring pastime. Only someone like Mike would enjoy it.
- Why don't we replace water with... blood?
- You are way too close to me... Do you wish to die?
Fave Hottie Slogan[]
They talk about love and justice, and then supposedly give you the right to choose. But it's all just a trick to entice you for their own interests. Huff. Hypocrites.
Intimacy Breakthrough[]
This section contains spoilers for Intimacy Breakthrough scenes.
- Martin: Is this for me?
- Martin: Haha. How interesting.
- Martin: Is it an admission of weakness?
- Martin: Or some kind of bribe?
- Martin: Anyway, I'll take it, but don't think this means I'll go easy on you. Hahahahaha!
- Martin: Let me do you the honor of drinking your wine...
- Martin: Didn't you even bother to poison it?
- Martin: Hah. Don't you know, nice guys always come last?
- Martin: I'll be back again tomorrow. Consider carefully your next move.
- Martin: Gifts are as fun as ever.
- Martin: And the wine still smells so sweet.
- Martin: And you're still willing to speak to me from time to time...
- Martin: Hah. I just don't get it. What are you thinking?!
- Martin: It's like you really want to be my friend.
- Martin: Haha. If some other person was sitting here in front of me…
- Martin: I would say to them…
- Martin: You're not worthy.'
- Martin: You must have read my letter.
- Player: Yes.
- Player: That's why I brought you this bottle of perfume.
- Martin: ... You already found one that I will like?
- Martin: But how do you know what I like?
- Player: It's because I don't know you can ask that question.
- Martin: Haha! Talking to clever people is both amusing and tiresome all at once.
- Martin: That being the case, show me.
- Martin: Let's see how well you did.
- Scene transition
- Give the perfume to Martin.
- Martin takes the lid off and heady fragrance fills the air.
- Martin: Such a strong scent...
- Martin: You think my tastes so strange?
- Player: Oh, you don't like it?
- Martin: Moreover, when would a Shadow... ever wear such a strong perfume?
- Martin: You're worried Shadowhunter scouts won't be able to find me?
- Player: True.
- Player: Oh, okay. Throw it away then.
- Martin: Throw it away?
- Martin: Hahahaha! Why would I do that?
- Player: Huh? I thought you didn't like it.
- Player: And afraid it would give away your position...
- Martin: What of it?
- Martin: I tire of lurking around in dark corners.
- Martin: I could use it front and center in a plot.
- Martin: It could make a big impact on my enemies when I defeat them.
- Martin: I could send out minions in the same perfume in order to confuse my enemies.
- Martin: Afraid of discovery? What nonsense.
- Martin: You really think a common scout could find me?
- Martin: Do you really think me so incompetent?
- Player: So... you like it then?
- Martin: I do... My tastes are actually quite strange.
- Martin: Besides, if I didn't like it, shouldn't I at least... TRY to like it?
- Player: Huh?!
- Martin: Hahahaha! Thanks for the perfume.
- Martin: I have to go. I'll seek you out another time.
- Martin: Goodbye, my friend.
- Martin: Here, take this. It's a Flux Response Crystal.
- Martin: If you need me for whatever reason, just inject some Flux into it.
- Martin: Your flux will react with the Shadow Flux inside the crystal…
- Martin: I will sense your location and come and find you.
- Martin: But remember, the crystal contains a huge amount of Shadow Flux...
- Martin: So keep it inside this metal Flux Blocker box, or you'll draw the attention of Shadowhunters—
- Martin: Keep the crystal and box safe.
- Martin: If you lose them, I won't be able to find you.
- Martin: Your engine's broken and Billy can't fix it?
- Martin: Let me take a look. Maybe I can help.
- Martin knows a bit about engines and started injecting Shadow Flux.
- Player: Be careful! Shadow Flux can destroy an engine if you don't know what you're doing!
- Martin: Oh yeah?
- Martin: ...
- Martin: Go ahead. Try it out.
- Player: ... It... started?!
- Martin: Probably an emergency brake-activated Flux Backflow altered the original Flux Circuits inside the engine.
- Martin: The circuits are so complex and Billy really isn't up to it.
- Martin: And I only made things worse by injecting Shadow Flux, which reacted with the unstable flux in the circuits...
- Martin: Completely frying the Flux Circuitry—
- Martin: When you restarted the engine, it sent flux back into the backup Flux Battery and reset the original circuits.
- Martin: Fixing the problem—
- Player: I don't really get it, but it sounds very impressive...
- Martin: You don't need to understand it.
- Martin: Just come and find me the next time you run into a problem with Engineering or Arcana…
- Martin: That's all.
- Martin: You seem troubled...
- Martin: Gone back to the bosom of the Shadowcult?
- Martin: You have survived thus far, but don't go thinking all those of the Grey Serpent revile the taste of meat.
- Martin: I should tell you.
- Martin: I hate... the feeling of helplessness.
- Martin: The day you die, I will slaughter…
- Martin: The people who killed you, the people who advised you…
- Martin: As well as their friends and their loved ones…
- Martin: And bury them all next to you in the ground.
- Martin: Ha! What's that look for?
- Martin: I know, you don't want me to get blood on my hands.
- Martin: So... Live life while you still can!
- Martin: And don't let anyone kill you, except me.
- One day, flipping through a book of Natural History in the Arcana Academy...
- Player: Fazil Ravens…'
- Player: Named after Fazil Mountain to the northwest of Yggdrasil where they inhabit the alpine meadows…'
- Player: Fazil Ravens flock together in winter months. They exhibit complex behaviors, characteristic of highly intelligent and social animals.'
- Player: Eating a diet primarily consisting of small rodents, reptiles and insects, Fakir Crows also consume fruits, as well as surplus human food.'
- Player: In addition, Fazil Ravens also require a small amount of flux in order to survive. As a result, they are commonly considered to be the most arcane variety of raven.'
- Player: Fazil Ravens can also be used to carry messages, but unlike other ravens…'
- Player: They do not travel between roosts, but rather seek out the Flux Signal on their master's body. This capacity enables them to deliver messages.'
- Player: The Fazil Raven is therefore a favored pet among travelers…'
- Player: In other words, Fazil Ravens... travel back and forth between people delivering messages, and not between places...
- Player: After all, Martin and I run around a lot, and keeping in touch can be a challenge.
- Player: ... Uh, Martin's birthday is coming up.
- Player: Why not send him a Raven as a gift...
- Player: I think he's rather fond of crows.
- Scene transition
- Martin: Huh? You have a birthday present for me?
- Martin: It's not this crow, is it?
- Player: Yeah! It's a Fazil Raven.
- Player: This type of Raven lives…
- Martin: Fazil Ravens. I've heard about them.
- Martin: You can feed it with your flux, so it always comes back to you rather than returning its nest.
- Martin: Very useful for sending messages between people who are always on the move.
- Martin: They're also capable of imitating the human voice.
- Martin: In time it will begin to mimic its master.
- Player: That's right... How do you know so much?
- Martin: Heh. I don't know which books you've been reading...
- Martin: But I think your books probably didn't tell you...
- Martin: This type of Raven does not eat Shadow Flux.
- Player: So... you're not able to keep them?
- Martin: Keeping them is one thing, but I'd need to obtain flux from somewhere else.
- Martin: ... I'm afraid you won't be able to use it to send me messages.
- Player: Sorry... I wasn't aware of its limitations.
- Martin: You gave me a gift. You have nothing to be sorry about.
- Martin: Besides, I'm very happy with it.
- Martin: I'll keep it and care for it.
- Player: Yeah? That's great!
- Martin: But, have I ever told you...
- Martin: Actually I have not celebrated this birthday... for 11 years.
- Martin: When I became a Shadow, I got a new birthday.
- Martin: Unfortunately, I shared it with that other guy, but it was the date my new life began.
- Martin: After that, I always celebrated my birthday on that date...
- Martin: Because I wanted to be rid of my past birthdays, and... my former self.
- Player: You never told me...
- Martin: Well, all right.
- Martin: This birthday stopped having any meaning for me a long time ago.
- Martin: But today, uh, feels like it means something to me.
- Martin: From now on I'll celebrate both my birthdays.
- Martin: After all, the new me is me, and the old me is me too.
- Martin: Don't go anywhere today... this evening included.
- Martin: Keep me company. After all, it's my first birthday in 11 years.
- Martin: Do you really find drinking and chatting all day long in the Hottie Bar that interesting?
- Martin: What? You think I'm jealous?
- Martin: I didn't come all this way to talk to you about such trifles.
- Martin: Don't you want to go back to your world?
- Martin: Why not go recharge at the different Nexuses?
- Martin: Don't tell me you never thought of it?
- Martin: If you don't go back, then one day, sooner or later, we will face off on the battlefield…
- Martin: Maybe I will kill you. Maybe you will kill me.
- Martin: Uh... I seem to recall saying something along the lines of 'Enemies can coexist by mutual agreement'…
- Martin: Don't be so naïve.
- Martin: Maybe I know you too well, but I no longer have any interest in being your enemy.
- Martin: Or maybe I don't want to lose you as a friend.
- Martin: ... Though it embarrasses me to admit it.
- Martin: But I don't have any friends.
- Martin: When I was a kid there were people who I thought were my friends...
- Martin: But they only liked me for my money and family connections.
- Martin: When they learned I was a Gyee...
- Martin: That I wasn't, in fact, Paul's son, that I had no connection to the family whatsoever...
- Martin: Even the servants would scowl at me.
- Martin: Don't talk to me about so-called friends who ditch you the moment you're no longer useful to them.
- Martin: Life is precious because you only get one.
- Martin: Good friends like you are hard to find...
- Martin: Charge up and get out of here.
- Martin: We might never be able to meet again, but at least we can remember each other fondly...
- Martin: I'd much prefer that to killing you on the battlefield.
- Martin: We seem to be seeing more and more of one another.
- Martin: I've been thinking...
- Martin: Are you saying... you want to be regular friends?
- Martin: Hahaha! Why are you blushing?
- Martin: It's not such an unusual occurrence, among the Shadows.
- Martin: I... hope our friendship can continue to grow.
- Martin: What matter if we're enemy? And what matter is there if things get out of hand?
- Martin: You think the current situation is 'in hand'?
- Martin: Who knows what tomorrow will bring? Better enjoy today.
- Martin: The future seems so far away. Just think about how you want to answer... the person standing right here in front of you.
Dates[]
This section contains spoilers for Date scenes.
Dinner
- Martin: Do you have time?
- Martin: I should like to invite you to a meal. Would you do me the honor?
- Player: Oh, uh...
- Player: You… want to invite me? To a meal?
- Martin: If today is not convenient, tomorrow will do. Whenever you're free.
- Player: Today then. Let's go.
- Scene transition
- Player: To what do I owe the pleasure? Are you going to treat me to dinner?
- Player: And to such an expensive place?
- Martin: Do you have an objection?
- Player: Well... aren't we sworn enemies?
- Martin: We are indeed. But that just makes it more interesting, does it not?
- Player: I have no idea what you Shadows are thinking...
- Martin: You may as well try and take a guess.
- Martin: Go on, tell me what I'm thinking
- Martin: Why did I invite you, in particular?
- Martin: Hahahahaha! Good one!
- Martin: You must have a pretty low opinion of me, and yourself for that matter.
- Martin: I do have other options, although you aren't my last choice.
- Martin: You wouldn't know about that. Anyway, you can't blame me.
- Martin: After all, we did just meet, and it wasn't... exactly under the best circumstances.
- Martin: War is war. Friendship is friendship.
- Martin: It would be foolish to think enemies cannot become friends.
- Martin: If you didn't want to be friends, you wouldn't have come.
- Martin: Discard Ka's foolish notions. They only get in the way.
- Player: I...
- Martin: Why don't we sit down, order something and talk?
- Player: Hm...
- Martin: Hahahahaha!
- Martin: Haha! I never expected you to be so up front! It's very refreshing!
- Martin: Off the battlefield, I am not someone who takes pleasure in deceiving others.
- Martin: Given you're being so up front with me, I won't speak in riddles either.
- Martin: — You guessed right.
- Player: I... I'm kidding!
- Player: I... um... or just pretend you didn't hear it!
- Martin: How about you?
- Martin: Don't you like the look of me?
- Player: I didn't… really think about it…
- Martin: So why accept an invitation from your sworn enemy?
- Player: Seriously though... what's wrong with it?
- Martin: Hahaha! Nothing I suppose, if we're both okay with it.
- Martin: Ka's foolish notions are hard to shake.
- Martin: Anyway. It's not something that can be resolved in one meeting.
- Martin: I think I must be hungrier than you.
- Martin: Let's eat. People are always more reasonable on a full stomach.
- Martin: Red Wedding... must be an allusion from your world?
- Player: Huh? How did you know?
- Martin: Because it's not from Luxium.
- Martin: If you did your homework, you would know that...
- Martin: By the time I was eleven, I knew the entire history of Luxium.
- Martin: Hm. If I'm not mistaken, Red Wedding...
- Martin: Refers to a murder planned at a feast?
- Player: Right. Good guess!
- Martin: Haha! It was obvious what you were thinking.
- Martin: But I chose a busy street. Do you still suspect me?
- Martin: Aren't you being overly cautious?
- Martin: Also you're very strong, though of low status.
- Martin: So to kill you at close quarters...
- Martin: Would be high risk for low reward.
- Martin: In other words, you're no match for me. Hahaha!
- Player: Are you TRYING to hurt my feelings...
- Martin: Haha, hurt feelings? You'll get over it.
- Martin: It's a regular meal, not the 'Red Wedding' you speak of.
- Martin: Take a seat and order anything you like.
Fearsome
- Martin: I'm at the Hottie Bar. Where are you?
- Martin: Want to join me for a drink?
- Player: Sure.
- Scene transition
- Player: What made you want to invite me for a drink today?
- Player: It's almost time for bed...
- Martin: It's the best time to go drinking.
- Martin: Tomorrow there will be lots of people here...
- Martin: If I come then, won't I cause a scene?
- Player: Yeah, and if others see you I won't know how to explain it.
- Martin: Do you really care so much what other people think?
- Player: It's just one of those things.
- Player: What? Don't you care?
- Martin: Haha! That's one of the advantages of being a Shadow.
- Martin: Anyway, you have nothing to worry about.
- Martin: They will only suspect. Later they may realize the truth...
- Martin: Because you cannot join the Shadow, and I can never leave it.
- Martin: Then they may worry about your safety, unnecessarily so.
- Player: Worry unnecessarily... You really won't hurt me then?
- Martin: Hahaha! Of course I will.
- Player: ...
- Martin: Just because we're friends, doesn't mean we're no longer enemies.
- Martin: So, do you dare to befriend me?
- Martin: Is it a matter of should or shouldn't?
- Player: Ok.
- Martin: Is it because I am a Shadow?
- Martin: Or because I do evil things?
- Martin: Hahahaha, I thought you were different.
- Martin: What is the origin of good and evil?
- Martin: Ka has been imposed upon the people and the people have imposed shackles upon you.
- Martin: You don't even ask yourself where good and evil come from.
- Martin: You're a sheep, just like everyone else.
- Martin: How boring.
- Martin: When you figure it out, come find me.
- Martin: Hahahahaha! An honest answer!
- Player: So what? You already said you are going to hurt me!
- Player: You can do powerful Shadow magic, as well as being crafty and cruel!
- Player: Anyone with half a brain should fear you!
- Martin: Hahahaha! You're too kind.
- Martin: When I said I would hurt you, I meant on the battlefield.
- Martin: The friends who fight by my side on the battlefield, I sacrifice...
- Martin: The friends who fight against me on the battlefield, I destroy...
- Martin: Generally speaking, I would have no cause to harm you, nor would it serve any purpose.
- Martin: Hahah, why would I tell you these?
- Martin: I think I'd rather be scared.
- Martin: You want to be my friend, but you're still a little bit scared....
- Martin: It's quite adorable really.
- Martin: Oh? You're not afraid I'll hurt you?
- Player: What do I have to be afraid of?
- Player: You're the one who came here for a drink. If anyone should be scared, it's you.
- Martin: Hahaha! If I was scared I wouldn't be here.
- Martin: But you should know, Rita is a friend of mine too. We've been friends for many years.
- Martin: How many times do you think I have hurt her over the years?
- Player: She holds the power that you seek. I do not.
- Player: Attacking me carries too much risk for you, and insufficient reward...
- Player: But if I were to hurt you...
- Player: It would solve a big problem AND be a feather in my cap...
- Martin: You're not wrong.
- Martin: This just gets better and better.
- Martin: How do you plan to hurt me?
- Martin: I'm itching to see what you can do.
- Martin: But if you really go through with it...
- Martin: The Shadow will just dispatch another general and nothing will have changed.
- Martin: The only difference will be, you'll be down a friend.
Shadows
- Martin: Your uninvited guest is back.
- Martin: Don't you want to... have a drink and a chat?
- Player: Sure.
- Scene transition
- Player: Why not talk to other Shadows? Why do you keep coming here?
- Martin: Hah! And talk about what?
- Martin: Do you really suppose... Shadowcult is like a band of brothers?
- Martin: Most are just losers with no other option.
- Martin: The vast majority of Shadowcultists know nothing of this world.
- Martin: They cannot walk the streets in broad daylight like you do, or eat out at a restaurant…
- Martin: Much less attend big events like the Rupor Show.
- Martin: As an organization, Shadowcult is even more demanding and reviled than Gyee.
- Martin: But by the moral standards of this world, we are truly evil.
- Martin: Lots of Shadowcultists just want to live like Mike, if just for a day.
- Martin: ... But such a life holds no interest for me.
- Martin: What do you think I should talk to them about?
- Martin: Tell them war brings victory? That they'll be rich?
- Martin: That all their dreams will come true in a new world ruled by the Shadow?
- Martin: Hah! We Shadows are even greedier than you, even harder to satisfy.
- Martin: Telling empty lies soon gets old.
- Martin: I feel more comfortable here with you. More myself.
- Player: So you Shadows... also detest lying?
- Martin: You mean do we experience guilt?
- Martin: No, we have no such feeling.
- Martin: But composing lies, writing dictionaries and so forth is all very dull.
- Martin: And even the most amusing pursuits lose their interest when done to excess, right?
- Player: In other words, you don't like lying, so today if I ask you any questions...
- Player: You'll only tell me the truth, right?
- Martin: Hahaha! You're on a fishing expedition!
- Martin: Very well, but for today only.
- Martin: Fire away.
- Martin: About Mike...
- Martin: ...
- Martin: Such a rare opportunity and you ask me about that guy.
- Martin: That guy…
- Martin: Ah, when he was seven he pissed his pants before an exam...
- Player: What... what happened then?
- Martin: And then...
- Martin: How would I know? I was five at the time.
- Martin: When he was nine years old he got a bunch of roses and presented it to a...
- Martin: 30-something woman and asked her to marry him.
- Martin: It just so happened she was also the principal's wife.
- Player: Wow... Ballsy or what?
- Martin: Sure was. His father made him stand up all night as punishment.
- Player: He was so naughty... as a kid.
- Martin: ... Haha! You don't know the half of it.
- Martin: When he was ten...
- Martin: ...
- Player: What? What did he do when he was ten?
- Martin: ... Nothing.
- Martin: ...
- Martin: I came here to talk to you.
- Martin: Why do you want to talk about that guy?
- Martin: ... We can talk about him another time.
- Martin: Pour me a drink.
- Martin: Hah! I'll be dead of course.
- Martin: Such a rare opportunity, yet you choose to ask me such simple questions.
- Player: .... So you never considered leaving the Shadow?
- Martin: No.
- Player: So...
- Martin: Very well.
- Martin: I have answered all your questions for one day.
- Martin: I have no more interest in talking further today.
- Martin: I will seek you out on another occasion.
- Martin: You think you know me well enough to ask this kind of question?
- Player: Didn't you say... I could ask you anything?
- Martin: Never mind. All cards are on the table...
- Martin: Haven't you try to find out about me?
- Martin: I had no other choice.
- Martin: At least so it seemed to me at the time.
- Player: Do you regret it?
- Martin: Shadows do not regret.
- Martin: You accept in your heart that you are now a Shadow.
- Martin: And compared to the life I was leading...
- Martin: The life of a Shadow is not so bad.
- Martin: Are you asking me how my life has changed since becoming a Shadow?
- Martin: There is more cruelty, but I have started to enjoy the chaos and the killing.
- Martin: But such feelings are part of human nature, are they not?
- Martin: They're just magnified now.
- Martin: Once you are a Shadow, concepts such as 'morality' and 'good and evil' cease to have any meaning.
- Martin: They are simply impositions on the individual.
- Martin: Once the shackle has been broken, they're no longer a consideration.
- Martin: People like you who depend on the shackle must think me a stubborn old fool.
- Martin: Huh. How could we think otherwise?
- Martin: We are from two races that are doomed to uphold opposing points of view.
- Martin: It is the Law of Duality.
- Martin: Therefore, don't ask me idiotic questions again like do I 'regret' it.
- Martin: If you really want to know what it's like to be a Shadow, why not try it out for yourself?
- Player: N-n-no! That's not what I meant at all!
- Martin: Hahaha! Then let's have a drink.
- Martin: A topic for another day.
