Intro[]

'Whoa! This is Dragonium, real high-quality stuff! A commander such as yourself deserves no less!'

Inside the Defense Force Commander's office, a large box stands before Izumi and the quartermaster. Inside the box is prototype combat equipment specially given to commanders of the Defense Force by the top officials of Never Isle.

'Try it on, Captain Izumi! I'm sure you'll look great in it!' The quartermaster says, his eyes beaming at the sight of the equipment in front of him. 'There's an instruction manual. Let me take a look...'

'Hmm... Well the gist of it is, this item consists of two parts: a mechanical fist that directs the flux cannon, and an 'Aegis' shield generator that powers a defensive barrier. Seeing as it's a prototype, it is both powerful and very heavy, so you'll need to take care when using it...'

Izumi barely heard the quartermaster's words, and stood blankly at the heavy equipment in front of him. Though he had saved the Defense Force from ruin, re-united its warriors, and proven himself equal toy of the title commander, he had no intention of putting it on.

I don't deserve this...

Mira used to scold me. She'd say that I'm not decisive enough in times of crisis, that I'm too friendly with the other warriors and don't command respect... that I don't have what it takes to be a captain. My best friends, Eddie and Miles, are powerful warriors who have led Never Isle's most elite warriors in countless victories for their homeland. I, on the other hand, am just a fool in everyone's eyes. Even children call me a 'big dumb bear.' In my whole life, I haven't accomplished a thing. Whenever I have a problem, I always depend on Eddie and Miles to get me out of it. They've always taken care of me, helped me when I needed it... But I... Not only did I fail to help them, my hesitation and my weakness got Miles killed. And even though I later caught the culprits, I almost got everyone in the Defense Force hurt.

How could someone like me ever hope to be a good commander?

Suddenly, the sound of sirens cuts through Izumi's ruminations. The Shadow Army has appeared at Lake Bliss! Izumi looks at the box before him.

I can't hesitate any longer. I can't be weak any longer. I can't run away...

It doesn't matter whether I'm equal toy of my title or not, and it doesn't matter whether I want the responsibility - they are mine and mine alone!

This is my duty to my brothers, and it will be my salvation.

Izumi picks up the heavy prototype equipment: 'Gather the men, and prepare for battle! We are going to drive the Shadows from our home!!!'

Skill Description
Izumi grants Bear's Blessing to all allies except himself, granting himself Defender's Shield. If Izumi already has Defender's Shield, both the shield and its duration will be refreshed, and all allies will recover HP equal to Max HP 10%. If Izumi has at least 65 Rage, he will also get Bear's Blessing If he has at least 85 Rage, allies will recover an additional HP equal to Max HP 10% If he has 100 Rage, then all allies will get God for 1 round. Bear's Blessing: Skill damage taken is reduced by 60%. Upon taking damage from a skill, Bear's Blessing is removed, and Oath of Protection is granted. If this effect is dispelled on its own, Izumi will recover 5 Rage. This effect lasts 2 rounds and can be dispelled. Oath of Protection: Reduces skill damage taken by 30%, and damage taken from debuffs by 60%. This effect lasts 1 round and can be dispelled. Defender's Shield: Absorbs all types of damage. Skill Description
Reduces Izumi's damage taken by (15.00% + Mastery Bonus), and reduces skill damage taken by an additional 20%. Grants immunity to Chaos, Fear, and Silence effects. Upon taking skill damage, if the attack is afflicted with Taunt, Izumi will get 1 stack of Unyielding Force Field and an extra 5 Rage. After battle starts, Izumi will get No Retreat. When No Retreat is removed, he will not be able to receive Blood Lock or Ablaze status effects. Unyielding Force Field: While the effect is active, each stack increases Izumi's P.DEF and M.DEF by 2.5%. This effect lasts until battle ends, can be stacked up to 10 times, and cannot be dispelled. No Retreat: A Blood Lock effect; Izumi's HP cannot fall below 15%. If Izumi's HP is 15% or below before he takes action, this effect will be removed, he will obtain 5 stacks of Unyielding Force Field, and he will recover HP equal to Max HP *35% and 45 Rage. This effect lasts until battle ends and cannot be dispelled.

Miles gestures for his warrior to stop talking.

Miles: Ha!

Miles: Eddie... You're bold today.

Miles: I guess I have to teach you a thing or two today.

Defense Force Warrior: Reinforcements! Now!

Eddie speaks to Izumi, ignoring Miles

Eddie: But you're still welcome at the dinner tonight after training.

Eddie: I have business back at the Order of Equality, so I have to go now.

The Order of Equality leaves

Miles: You! Are you really going to leave after riling us up?

Izumi: Miles...

Miles: Get out of my way!

Izumi: You're disrupting the market.

Izumi: And you're making it very difficult for me!

Miles: ...

Miles: Alright, I guess I'll let him go today.

Izumi: Why are you always picking fights with Eddie? Do you know how tense things get between the two of you?

Miles: I don't like them, that's all.

Miles: They're Gyees, but they hang with Mundanes all day. What the heck?

Izumi: Don't talk about Eddie like that.

Miles: ...

Miles: I'll just not talk about him at all.

Izumi: Miles...

Izumi: Can you and Eddie stop fighting?
