Eddie-EnragedHawk
With the help of the Order of Equality, Eddie becomes an eagle with his jetpack and rains down fire from above.
The enraged hawk has awakened, spreading his wings and soaring through the sky.
Intro[]
Order of Equality Operation Heaven Report #43
'Miles... is the most annoying man on Never Isle! The experiment started very successfully, with Eddie taking to the skies in our jetpack, completing cruising, diving, climbing, and turning. It meant that Operation Heaven was going to be a success, until Miles fired a shot that destroyed the powered wings! Good thing Eddie managed to land without serious injuries. I was about to blow when I saw Miles leaving sheepishly! Eddie didn't say anything, and just handed the broken equipment to me so I can make improvements. Well, if Eddie didn't say anything...'
Order of Equality Operation Heaven Report #65
'I can't stand this! Miles brought a musketeer squad, and even an anti-air cannon array! The jetpack is completely destroyed, but Eddie took some people and beat up the musketeers and almost took their anti-air cannons away. I guess that'll teach Miles a lesson!'
Order of Equality Operation Heaven Report #113
'After I spent ours adding advanced gadgets like bulletproof fuel modules, flux sensing steel plates and emergency evasion systems, Eddie managed to dodge all the attacks and fire missiles at Miles! What a great day! I thought Miles was going to be angry, but he only pinched Eddie's face and said he looked great, while Eddie put out the file on his head and asked him to come back whenever he wants to try something. I don't understand those two.'
Order of Equality Operation Heaven Report #126
'Miles didn't show up today, and they asked me to give the prototype of the Soaring Wings to Eddie to put together. Something doesn't look right with Eddie, though. His eyes were blood-shot, and he looked very solemn. His eyes were full of rage. That's not the Eddie I know...'
I hope he's alright...

The Hawk and the Wolf
- Note: Complete Billy-Lightflow before continuing.
- Central Luxium, one hundred kilometers east of Azria...
- Night, deep in the forest
- ???: Follow me, and don't make any noise!
- ???: Are we all here? Good, send a signal to the birds.
- ???: Fly now, and don't make the wolves wait!
- ???: Got it!
- A wolf howls in the distance
- Moments ago, in the surrounding forests...
- Player: ...
- Player: No Shadows nearby, but there is a somewhat powerful Shadow Flux further away.
- Player: (Gestures...)
- Eddie's squad comes out of hiding and joins Player's location
- Eddie: Place the equipment, we need to know what the Shadowcultists are doing!
- The two arcanists start setting up an artifact when they hear a wolf's howl
- Player: This is the Wolf Squad's signal.
- Player: They're too fast. We still have time until the execution!
- Light of Purity Warrior: This signal sounds really rude.
- Eddie: They're just messing around, and they're waiting for you to mess around, too!
- Eddie: Just leave it. This is an important operation, and we cannot mess up.
- Light of Purity Warrior: The others are in position.
- Eddie: Good! Place an alert area within one kilometer.
- Eddie: Follow the plan and place the artifacts.
- Eddie: Don't alert the enemies! Stay low!
- Light of Purity Warrior: Yes, sir!
- Player looks out to the forest with concern
- Player: ...
- Eddie: Do you sense anything, Player?
- Player: I can sense it without the artifacts.
- Player: A powerful and constrained Shadow Flux that is unlike anything I've sensed.
- Player: It's like I'm stripped of my vision, and I can only see into the void.
- Player: Every Shadowcultist in Luxium is here.
- Player: I have a bad feeling about this.
- Eddie taps you on the shoulder.
- Eddie: Good thing our network caught their movements.
- Eddie: In addition to Never Isle, the Order of Equality at Elysiann and the Oathblades at Red Harbor both sent lots of troops.
- Eddie: We have a detailed plan to respond to all kind of unexpected things.
- Eddie: If we follow the plan...
- Eddie: We can defeat them no matter what they try to throw at us.
- Eddie: If we're lucky, we can get rid of all the Shadowcultists in Luxium.
- Eddie: And send them to the fringe areas!
- Player: (smiles)
- Player: We can't let them get away this time.
- Eddie: The arcanists need time to place the artifacts, so we should take a break.
- Player: Sure. We'll be busy very soon!
- Encouraging words are like lights on the road during a journey in the dark.
- But the lights dim, and the path remains dark.
- Player: ...
- A few moments later...
- Light of Purity Warrior: Sir!
- Eddie: Did you find anything?
- Light of Purity Warrior: There is news from a forward post.
- Light of Purity Warrior: Several low-ranking cultists revealed their plans in a conversation.
- Eddie: Must be rookies.
- Eddie: They brought rookies, huh?
- Player: We can take all of them out!
- Eddie: What are they doing here?
- Light of Purity Warrior: They received an order to come here for a prayer mission.
- Eddie: Prayer? So many of them?
- Player: It's probably a front.
- Eddie: Hmmm...
- Light of Purity Arcanist: Sir, the artifacts have been placed. We now have the Shadow Flux distribution of the area.
- Eddie: How does it look?
- Light of Purity Arcanist: The peak is about five kilometers to the north.
- Light of Purity Arcanist: The intensity is beyond what the artifacts can measure. It looks like a large-scale summoning array.
- Eddie: Summoning array?
- Player: Probably something huge and twisted.
- Eddie: How are the Shadowcultists defending themselves?
- Light of Purity Arcanist: They came prepared. We can't pinpoint the positions of their defenses...
- Light of Purity Arcanist: We can speculate based on the distribution, but it won't be very accurate.
- Eddie: Just tell me.
- Light of Purity Arcanist: The defenses are rings, with the summoning array at the center.
- Light of Purity Arcanist: Half of them show Flux patterns of life forms, so those are probably Shadowcultists and Shadowcult Soldiers.
- Light of Purity Arcanist: Some show very high Shadow Flux, so probably pure Shadow monsters.
- Light of Purity Arcanist: And one more thing...
- Light of Purity Arcanist: And two very, very powerful life forms with Flux beyond most of the high-level monsters.
- Player: Rita and Martin...
- Eddie: I thought they were rivals.
- Eddie: I did not expect...
- Player: Probably orders from their higher-ups.
- Player: So they couldn't say no.
- Eddie: This must be an important operation for them.
- Eddie: Whatever they want to summon, we can't let them do it!
- Eddie: Send a signal to the forward command.
- Eddie: Enter your ambush positions and wait for the order to prepare the next phase.
- Light of Purity Warrior: Yes, sir!
- Moments later, near Eddie's team...
- Two Shadowcultist warriors and an arcanist make their way through the forest
- Shadowcultist A: I'm exhausted. We're almost there, right?
- Shadowcultist B: Less than ten kilometers left.
- Shadowcultist A: Ridiculous!
- Shadowcultist A: I wouldn't have joined the church if I knew how bad this is going to be.
- Shadowcultist A: If the camp didn't get swept by the defenders, being a bandit was much better than this.
- Shadowcultist C: ...
- Shadowcultist B: Don't complain. I've been a member for five years, and have run all kinds of missions...
- Shadowcultist B: This is the first time that the entire church is marching together over a long distance.
- Shadowcultist B: Well, if I can see Shadow Reaper, then I guess it's worth the trek.
- Shadowcultist B: They say that if you can meet the Reaper, your Shadow Arcana abilities go way up!
- Shadowcultist A: I don't care about any legends. I just hope this trip is worth something!
- Shadowcultist C: You're all Shadow Servants. Do not question the church!
- Shadowcultist C: The pilgrimage itself is already meaningful enough.
- Shadowcultist A: Sure. Shadowlord, please bless us with good weather, and that the church will last forever...
- Bursts of light start to appear in the night sky
- Shadowcultist B: What's that? Yellow, red, green... fireworks?
- Shadowcultist A: Is that the Shadowlord?
- Shadowcultist C: The prayer is not held here. Probably just bored villagers.
- Shadowcultist C: Don't get distracted, keep going.
- Shadowcultist A: Okay...
- Suddenly, an arrow takes down one of the warriors
- Shadowcultist B: Urgh...
- Shadowcultist A: What? What's with you?
- Shadowcultist A: An arrow! He's dead!
- Shadowcultist C: Ambush!
- Shadowcultist C: Cover me, I'll summon something!
- Light of Purity Warrior: Die, Shadows!
- Four Light of Purity warriors ambush the two remaining Shadowcultists and knocks one out
- Shadowcultist A: Ugh...
- The last one tries to run away but gets intercepted by Eddie and Player
- Shadowcultist A: I surrender!
- Light of Purity Warrior: You coward...
- Shadowcultist A: I only joined so I could have something to eat.
- Player: Eddie, they're Shadowcultists...
- Eddie: Disarm him and take him!
- Light of Purity Warrior: Yes, sir!
- Shadowcultist A: Thank you!
- A warrior takes the Shadowcultist away
- Player: Eddie! We're in phase two, and there's no need for prisoners.
- Player: He wasn't even a Gyee...
- Eddie: We're not bandits. The Light of Purity has rules.
- Player: Alright...
- Eddie: Listen up! Follow plan four. Teams one and two, attack the Shadows of the perimeter!
- Eddie: Team three, block nearby roads to cut off the Shadowcultists!
- Eddie: Create as much chaos as possible to attract Martin and Rita to the periphery!
- Light of Purity Warrior: Yes, sir!
- Eddie: Player, you will assist with attacking the Shadows from the front.
- Player: All right...
- Player: The key to plan four is the Wolf Squad...
- Player: I'm worried...
- Eddie: No need to worry.
- Eddie: He's always looking for a good fight.
- Eddie: This is the best job for him.
- Player: (surprised)
- Meanwhile...
- Miles: Achoo!
- Oathblades Warrior B: Do you have a cold?
- Miles: Me? Are you serious?
- Miles: I bet someone was talking trash about me.
- Oathblades Warrior A: You mean...
- Miles' squad hears a hawk's cry
- Miles: Speaking of the devil.
- Oathblades Warrior B: The signal means that the Hawk Squad is fighting against Shadows now.
- Miles: It'll be our turn very soon.
- Oathblades Warrior C: They're fighting the Shadows? Will they be alright?
- Miles: He might be a pushover, but he's still better than Shadows.
- A few moments later...
- Miles' squad still stays low as they listen to the sounds of battle that ring through the forest
- Miles: (Takes out a bottle and pours a drink.)
- Miles: (Hands it to the warrior in front of him.)
- Oathblades Warrior A: ...
- Miles: I thought you liked to drink.
- Oathblades Warrior A: Um, Miles...
- Oathblades Warrior A: I think the battle is getting more serious. I can even hear them screaming.
- Oathblades Warrior A: Are we staying put?
- Miles: Yes.
- Miles: Wait for the order.
- Oathblades Warrior A: They're all doing their jobs...
- Oathblades Warrior A: But we're hiding here...
- Miles: We're closest to the Shadow's core. Enemies everywhere...
- Miles: You're good, but to expose yourself is to die.
- Miles: I'm responsible for all of you.
- Oathblades Warrior A: We're not afraid of dying!
- Miles: Dying is easy. You can always jump into Lake Bliss from the port.
- Miles: But drinking, eating, having fun and killing White Cape soldiers all require you to be alive.
- Miles: We don't fight to die.
- Miles: We fight for our brothers and family. We fight to bring a better life for the Gyee.
- Miles: I need you to be alive.
- Miles: You saw the flares.
- Miles: Did you forget the commander's instructions?
- Oathblades Warrior A: No.
- Miles: We're not charging in this time. Our orders were camouflage and concealment.
- Miles: We are to be the knife under their eyes.
- Miles: And our only goal is to wait for the right opportunity...
- Miles: So we can deal the killing blow.
- Oathblades Warrior A: (Smiles and takes the cup.)
- Oathblades Warrior A: (Downs the drink.)
- Oathblades Warrior A: Incredible. One more, please.
- Miles: No, we've got a battle to fight. Stay alert and be ready!
- Oathblades Warrior B: Can we do away with this last cup thing?
- Oathblades Warrior B: We've had one every battle
- Oathblades Warrior B: I think I drank my 'last cup' more than I care to remember.
- Oathblades Warrior C: You little...
- Oathblades Warrior C: We always drink it in advance, so it's never truly the last cup.
- Oathblades Warrior C: This is Miles's rule!
- Miles: If you keep complaining, there will be no next time.
- Oathblades Warrior B: No, please!
- Miles: (smiles)
- Miles: Now, stay focused!
- Miles: When we win this one...
- Miles: I'll let you drink the collection I have at home.
- Oathblades Warrior A: Your collection?
- Oathblades Warrior C: We all heard it! You can't go back on your word!
- Miles: I always keep my promises.
- Miles: !!
- Miles: Shhh!
- Nearby, Rita monitors her troops when a Shadow Messenger appears behind her
- Shadow Messenger: My lady, Lord Marin's troops to the south are having a difficult time...
- Shadow Messenger: Please send reinforcements immediately.
- Rita: Ugh...
- Rita: I refuse!
- Rita: My defenses to the north of the ritual are also being attacked.
- Rita: I don't have any troops to spare to help an 'ally...'
- Shadow Messenger: My lady...
- Shadow Messenger: I can see the battle as well as you.
- Rita: ...
- Shadow Messenger: The enemy's attacks are much weaker in the north.
- Shadow Messenger: My lady, the ritual is very important to the one that rules all of us.
- Shadow Messenger: Please do your best to help.
- Rita: Ugh...
- Rita: Fine!
- Rita: I'll go clean up his mess!
- Shadow Messenger: For the Shadow!
- The Shadow Messenger teleports away
- Rita: Come!
- Shadow Spider Queen: Yes, my lady?
- Rita: Divide my troops in half. I...
- Rita: ...
- Rita pauses, noticing something strange
- Shadow Spider Queen: Lady Rita?
- Rita: (angry)
- Rita: I will lead half of them to kill the ants to the south!
- Shadow Spider Queen: Yes, my lady!
- Under cover, Miles spies on Rita
- Miles: We might have been exposed. The ones in the back! Attract some Shadow Soldiers this way.
- Miles: As for the others, remove your traces and move immediately!
- Oathblades Warrior: Yes, sir!
- A few moments later...
- Rita and her Spider Queen squad run into another group of Shadow Soldiers
- Shadow Soldier: Lady Rita...
- Rita: What are you doing here?
- Shadow Soldier: My lady, we're patrolling!
- Rita: (angry)
- Rita: There's no need! Follow me to the south to crush the ants!
- Shadow Soldier: Yes, sir!
- Not far away...
- Oathblades Warrior A: That was a close call.
- Oathblades Warrior A: If we were just a little late...
- Oathblades Warrior B: Ugh, I can't believe we're doing this.
- Oathblades Warrior B: I've never fought a battle where all we do is hide from the enemies!
- Miles: Enough!
- Miles: Leave your rage and complaint behind.
- Miles: Rita is going south, and you can tell that it's getting quieter.
- Miles: It's almost our turn.
- A few moments later...
- Player and Eddie's squad continue their battle with a number of Shadow Soldiers
- A Light of Purity messenger runs to Eddie and Player
- Light of Purity Warrior: Eddie! Player!
- Light of Purity Warrior: The scouts are reporting that the main contingent of White Cape troops are approaching the battle!
- Light of Purity Warrior: They killed lots of Shadowcultists along the way, and will be fighting against us soon!
- Player: They're earlier than I thought.
- Player: And we still haven't seen their main defenses.
- Eddie: Surely they can see the commotion that the Shadows are making, and they're not the kind to just sit there and do nothing.
- Light of Purity Warrior: There aren't a lot of warriors fighting against the Shadowcultists. If they encounter the White Cape...
- Light of Purity Warrior: I'm afraid...
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: Tell them to retreat and let the White Cape into the battle. They can deal with the reinforcements.
- Eddie: We will go from the front!
- Eddie: If Martin and Rita are not coming, then we're going in!
- Light of Purity Warrior: Yes, sir!
- The messenger leaves
- Player: Well!!
- Eddie: !!
- Player: This feeling...
- Player: Rita! Rita is coming!
- Eddie: Alert! Get ready to fight a Shadow Leader!
- Eddie: Send flares that says the defense has taken the bait!
- Rita and her monsters approach the battlefield
- Rita: I will show Martin how this is done!
- Light of Purity Warrior: I feel like there's a rock on my chest, and my legs are shaking.
- Light of Purity Warrior: And this is just from getting close to them...
- Rita: Ants! You will regret having been born into this world!
- Someone shoots a flare into the sky
- Rita: A flare?
- Rita: Ugh...
- Rita: They lured me out!
- Eddie: All ships, fire on Rita!
- Rita gets bombarded by cannons
- Rita: Ugh...
- Eddie: Kill them! For Never Isle!
- Light of Purity Warrior: For Never Isle!
- Meanwhile...
- Miles: This is it!
- Miles: Remember the faces of those next to you.
- Miles: If you don't know someone, then they're a Shadow, and they must die!
- Miles: For Never Isle, for the Gyee!
- Oathblades Warrior: For Never Isle!
- Nearby Miles' location, three Shadow Soldiers stand guard as they hear the sounds of battle all around them
- Shadow Soldier A: Wow, battles everywhere. Airships, too!
- Shadow Soldier B: Is the church over?
- Shadow Soldier A: We're the closest to the summoning array, though. This means we're the farthest from the front line, and we have the most troops.
- Shadow Soldier A: This is literally the safest place.
- Shadow Soldier B: I joined the cult because I was not making ends meet while being a mercenary.
- Shadow Soldier B: I can't believe I got dragged into this just days after joining.
- Shadow Soldier A: I've been here a little more than a year, but I still haven't received Shadow's Gift.
- Shadow Soldier A: We did get a lot of new people recently.
- Shadow Soldier A: (Communication crystal rings)
- Shadow Soldier A: This is array squad seven.
- Shadow Soldier A: What? Enemies are here?
- Shadow Soldier B: Impossible! We haven't received any reports?
- Shadow Soldier A: Alert! Enemies are wearing our armor!
- Shadow Soldier B: They've been hiding, and now they're coming for the summoning array!
- Shadow Soldier A: Defend this place! We're all going to die if the summoning array fails!
- A gunshot takes out one of the Shadow soldiers
- Shadow Soldier A: We need reinforcements!
- Shadow Soldier B: What about the monsters?
- Miles and the Oathblades (disguised as Shadow Warriors) attack the last remaining Shadow
- Miles: Just kill them all!
- Shadow Soldier B: It's really powerful!
- Oathblades Warrior: Roar!
- Miles: Keep going!
- A few moments later...
- Miles' squad makes it to the Shadow's summoning array
- Senior Shadowcultist: (Unknown whisper)
- Oathblades Warrior: An array with purple light...
- Oathblades Warrior: Sends shivers down my spine.
- Oathblades Warrior: What are they trying to bring into Luxium?
- Miles: Don't be afraid! They won't get their chance!
- Miles launches an attack at the array
- The Shadowcultists in the array raise barriers around themselves
- Senior Shadowcultist: The ritual is in danger!
- Senior Shadowcultist: High alert! Trigger the emergency defense array!
- Senior Shadowcultist: The ritual defense team is coming!
- Multiple portals open near the array and Shadow monsters begin to pour out
- Miles: Careful, these Shadows are stronger.
- Oathblades Arcanist: The radiation from the summoning array is getting stronger...
- Miles: I hope the Academy's anti-Shadow artifacts are working.
- Miles: How long do we need to take down that summoning array?
- Oathblades Arcanist: Something like this... ten minutes!
- Miles: Alright, we'll get you close the array.
- Miles: But you only have ten minutes!
- Oathblades Arcanist: Sure. Leave it to me!
- Miles: Kill these Shadows!
- A few moments later...
- Miles makes it to the summoning array and the Oathblades arcanists work at trying to dispel it
- The Shadowcultists in the array likewise concentrate to maintain it at all costs
- An Oathblades warrior approaches Miles
- Oathblades Warrior: Sir, we received reports that the Shadows on the front line are starting to retreat.
- Oathblades Warrior: This means...
- Miles: You have to believe that our people out there will stall the Shadows.
- Senior Shadowcultist: The array went down by one percent! They're starting to break the array!
- Senior Shadowcultist: In the name of the Shadowlord, protect the array at all costs!
- Miles: Cover the arcanists! Just ten minutes!
- Oathblades Warrior: Roar!
- Meanwhile...
- Eddie and Player continue to battle Rita's forces
- Eddie: Do everything you can to stall the Shadows!
- Light of Purity Warrior: Die!
- Rita: The portal array is not working... I can't believe this.
- Rita: Not bad, but still worthless!
- Rita: Get out of my way!
- Rita begins to gather Shadow Flux around her
- Eddie: Cover fire!
- Multiple blasts go off near Rita
- Rita: You just won't stop, will you?
- Rita: Where's Martin? Tell him to go back!
- Rita: Tell him to return to the array. No one is getting out of this if it fails!
- Shadow Demon: He's caught in a fight against the Oathblades.
- Shadow Demon: And he can't get out!
- Rita: What a fool! Useless!
- Rita: Whatever!
- Rita: I'm going to kill you all!
- Player: Steady! Defend!
- Rita: Die!
- Eddie and Player battle Rita but they barely hang on
- Player: Hmm...
- Eddie: So that's what Rita is capable of...
- Eddie: If only we had more people...
- Eddie: Miles...
- Miles continues to defend the Oathblades arcanists against waves of attacking Shadow
- Senior Shadowcultist: Who are these humans? The array is less than ten percent complete...
- Senior Shadowcultist: But the ritual is almost over!
- A large portal begins to form in the center of the summoning array
- Miles: The portal...
- Miles: Hold the line!
- Miles: Everyone is counting on us!
- Oathblades Warrior: Roar!
- The Oathblades continue to attack but the Shadow defeats one of the warriors
- Miles: Blasted!
- Miles quickly shoots and kills two Shadow in revenge
- Oathblades Arcanist: Focus!
- Oathblades Warrior: Whoa...
- Oathblades Arcanist: Almost...
- Oathblades Arcanist: Almost got it...
- The Oathblades arcanists' efforts begin to work
- Senior Shadowcultist: Well!!
- Suddenly, the entire summoning array collapses
- Senior Shadowcultist: Just a little more...
- Senior Shadowcultist: Damn it!
- Senior Shadowcultist: My lord... I'm sorry...
- Miles: Kill the Shadows!
- Oathblades Warrior: Die!
- Miles and his squad manage to defend their position
- Oathblades Warrior: Shadows are retreating to the north!
- Oathblades Warrior: We... I think we won!
- Miles: Of course!
- Oathblades Warrior: Roar!
- Miles: It's not over yet! Take care of the wounded first.
- Miles: Rendezvous with the front line of the southern battlefield!
- Oathblades Warrior: Yes, sir!
- Miles: Stop staring into space! Get ready to move!
- Oathblades Arcanist: ...
- Miles: You two did well today!
- Oathblades Arcanist: Something's not right.
- Miles: What's up?
- Oathblades Arcanist: Their summoning array is gone, but the Shadow Flux on the artifact is still off the charts...
- Oathblades Warrior: Maybe it's broken, don't think too much about it.
- Oathblades Arcanist: No, this should be...
- ???: Rrragh!
- A rouge wolf attacks one of the Oathblades warriors
- A strange, pulsing blue light emits from the animal
- Oathblades Warrior: This Wolf... is too good...
- Miles shoots it but the wolf barely flinches
- Miles: Humph!
- Shadow Wolf?: (Angry growing)
- Miles: Something's wrong with this wolf.
- Miles shoots it again and kills it
- Miles: Careful!
- Oathblades Arcanist: This... Impossible! Miles!
- Miles: What's up?
- Oathblades Arcanist: Over there...
- Miles looks at where the arcanist is pointing
- Miles: ...
- Miles: !
- Moments before...
- Rita: Repent for your foolishness in hell!
- Boom!
- Rita: !!
- Rita turns around to look at where the summoning array used to be
- Rita: ...
- Rita: I underestimated these ants...
- Rita: You won today!
- Rita opens a portal and escapes
- Eddie: Portals? Why can she use portals? Arcanist!
- Light of Purity Arcanist: The artifacts are at their limits, and can't keep the Shadows' teleportation powers down...
- Player: Close call.
- Eddie: But Miles...
- Light of Purity Messenger: Sir!
- Light of Purity Messenger: The forward command said that the Wolf Squad has done their job, and the Shadow summoning array is no more...
- Light of Purity Messenger: They're retreating to the north, and the forward troops will push north to assist the Wolf Squad according to plan 4.
- Player: Miles did it!
- Eddie: Phew.
- Eddie: (smiles)
- Eddie: Everyone! Assemble and march north!
- Light of Purity Warriors: Yes, sir!
- A few moments later...
- Player: I was worried at first, because I wasn't sure if he would be okay with an ambush job.
- Player: Looks like...
- Player: You know him better than I do.
- Eddie: He might have a temper and bad mouth...
- Eddie: He's reckless and quick to resort to violence...
- Eddie: And his people are like him, too. They all think and act like soldiers.
- Player: Um, calm down, Eddie.
- Eddie: (Breathes deeply) Phew...
- Eddie: But when it comes to battles, they know their stuff.
- Eddie: Breaching the Shadows' defense and removing the summoning array in such a short time...
- Eddie: No one on Never Isle can do it but them.
- Player: The two of you...
- Suddenly, both of your comm crystals ring.
- Eddie: The crystal...
- Player: Why is it on? I thought we're supposed to be quiet and only use beacons.
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: Something's wrong!
- You both pick up your crystals...
- Miles on Communicator: This is Miles. Everyone, stay away!
- Miles on Communicator: The Shadows have three large summoning arrays, and the summons are complete!
- Miles on Communicator: I repeat, the Shadows have three large summoning arrays, and the summons are complete!
- Eddie: Huh! What?!
- Player: How is that even possible?
- Miles on Communicator: Three... Never before seen... Monsters...
- Eddie: Miles! This is Eddie! Where are you?
- Miles on Communicator: Monsters... enhanced...
- Miles on Communicator: Don't...
- Player: The communication breaks off.
- Light of Purity Lieutenant: Sir, the Shadow Flux of the entire area just went up by several levels!
- Light of Purity Lieutenant: All the signals are jammed!
- Eddie: What?
- Light of Purity Messenger: Sir, the retreating Shadow troops are coming back!
- Light of Purity Messenger: It's like they're on steroids now! The forward troops are in trouble!
- Eddie: I thought they were weak...
- Player: Someone is enhancing them!
- Eddie: Tell them to use bait and stun grenades to stall the enemy so we can regroup!
- Light of Purity Messenger: Yes, sir!
- Light of Purity Lieutenant: Sir, this is beyond our expectations. We need to retreat, or we risk certain death.
- Eddie: What will happen to the Wolf Squad if we leave?
- Eddie: They're behind enemy lines. If we leave, they will die!
- Light of Purity Lieutenant: But the Shadow Flux has jammed all the communication. We don't even know where he is!
- Eddie: We still have the flares!
- Light of Purity Lieutenant: Sir, we must consider the big picture!
- Player spots flares in the sky
- Player: Three green flares in a row...
- Player: That's the sign for full retreat.
- Eddie: What?!
- Light of Purity Lieutenant: Sir, that's an order from the forward command!
- Light of Purity Lieutenant: Something is up with the Shadows, and if we confront them, we'll probably die, too!
- Eddie: No, we can't retreat!
- Player: !!
- Light of Purity Lieutenant: Please don't let your emotions affect your decisions!
- Player: ...
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: No, you haven't thought this thoroughly. We can't run!
- Eddie: The main contingent of the White Cape is just behind us.
- Eddie: If we retreat now, we'll end up where they are, and the Shadows will just take both factions out!
- Light of Purity Lieutenant: Ugh, White Cape... I forgot about them...
- Light of Purity Lieutenant: What are we going to do?
- Eddie: Hmmm...
- Eddie: Leave all the artifacts and the heavy equipment behind. Take your light weapons and run east or west.
- Eddie: If we're fast enough, we can evade both the enhanced Shadows and White Cape.
- Eddie: Once we're out, we'll regroup six kilometers to the northwest.
- Light of Purity Lieutenant: Northwest? Why?
- Player: Do you want to use the Shadows coming from the north as bait...
- Player: And lure the White Cape in their direction?
- Eddie: Yes, and they'll end up fighting each other if we're lucky.
- Eddie: And we'll be able to find holes in their formations.
- Light of Purity Lieutenant: But northwest? Why?
- Eddie: This is an order. Do it!
- Light of Purity Lieutenant: Uh... Yes, sir!
- Earlier...
- Miles: This is Miles, calling out to all Never Isle troops. Can anyone hear me?
- Miles: Useless...
- Oathblades Arcanist: The things that the Shadows summoned let out a huge Shadow Flux, and the crystals are dead.
- Miles: Don't worry, I think I got the key information out before that.
- Miles: Whatever they summoned enhanced the powers of the cultists and the Shadow Monsters...
- Miles: I hope no one is taking any reckless actions...
- Oathblades Warrior A: They're so powerful already...
- Oathblades Warrior A: What if..
- The warriors see flares fly up into the sky
- Oathblades Warrior C: Three green flares...
- Oathblades Warrior C: Sir, forward command says we must retreat!
- Miles: ...
- Oathblades Warrior A: Sir, the monsters haven't been teleported in fully.
- Oathblades Warrior A: We're the only ones that can take them down!
- Oathblades Warrior B: We're already here. We have to do this!
- Miles: No, more than half of us can't even fight.
- Miles: Take the wounded and retreat.
- Oathblades Warrior B: Brother Wolf!
- Miles: Retreat!
- Oathblades Warrior B: Yes, sir!
- At one of the remaining summoning arrays...
- Multiple Shadowcultists gather to greet the new arrivals - three large Shadow Reapers
- Senior Shadowcultist: We did it! His envoys... My lords, welcome to Wonderland!
- Shadow Reaper: Our powers are not fully restored yet, but we bring blessings from him.
- Shadow Reaper: Now, prove your worth!
- Shadow Reaper: In his name, bring an end to the enemies.
- The gathered Shadow begin to pulse with a strange blue light
- Senior Shadowcultist: Yes, my lady!
- Senior Shadowcultist: Loyal Shadow servants! He is with us!
- Senior Shadowcultist: Kill the foolish humans!
- Shadows: (Frenzied roar)
- A few moments later...
- Miles' squad continue their retreat
- Miles: I think we're safe here. Let's take a break.
- Wounded Warrior: Ugh...
- Oathblades Arcanist: How do you feel?
- Wounded Warrior: I'm fine...
- Miles checks on the wounded warriors
- Oathblades Arcanist: We're too far from the planned retreat point.
- Oathblades Arcanist: Their injuries are too severe. I'm afraid...
- Miles: We're not going to the planned retreat point.
- Miles: Let's go... four kilometers to the southwest.
- Oathblades Arcanist: What do you mean?
- Miles: They summoned whatever they wanted, so they will be on the offensive now.
- Miles: The retreated Shadows will return, so they'll be all over the retreat point.
- Miles: There are mountains to our east, and that means we can easily be ambushed.
- Miles: Let's evade the Shadows and hide, then find a chance to get out.
- Oathblades Scout: Sir, Shadows incoming! Many of them! Very fast!
- Oathblades Scout: Within firing range soon!
- Miles: Ugh...
- Miles: Break's over! Retreat!
- Wounded Warrior: Whoa...
- Miles: You all right?
- Oathblades Arcanist: The wound is open again.. Let me take care of it.
- Wounded Warrior: No... you don't need to...
- Wounded Warrior: Just... leave us with some bombs.
- Miles: What are you talking about?
- Wounded Warrior: I think we can take a few Shadows with us...
- Wounded Warrior: There are too many. None of us will get out if we keep stalling.
- Miles: ...
- Oathblades Warrior A: We can't leave anyone behind.
- Shadowbeast Nearby: Roar!
- Miles: ...
- Miles: ...
- Miles: Leave half the bombs! The others...
- Miles: Retreat!
- Oathblades Warrior A: Sir, we can't...
- Miles: Follow the order!
- As the rest of the Oathblades retreat, the sounds of explosions go off behind them
- A few moments later...
- Senior Shadowcultist: They're trying to stall us, but it won't work!
- Senior Shadowcultist: Shadow Wolves, become our vanguards and their worst nightmare!
- A few moments later...
- Grey: (Growls toward the back)
- Miles: Their vanguards are catching up to us.
- Oathblades Warrior A: Why are they so fast?
- Miles: These Shadows are very different.
- Oathblades Warrior B: Sir, we just had a hard fight, and then we ran at full speed... It's taking a toll.
- Miles: ...
- Miles: ...
- Miles: It's an open area ahead...
- Miles: If we keep running, the vanguards will be onto us. If their warlocks catch up, it's over for us.
- Miles: Let's split up, at least three hundred meters apart, then find a place for an ambush!
- Oathblades Warrior C: Three hundred meters? That's too far apart, and support will be slow!
- Oathblades Warrior A: I don't really get it...
- Miles: What, you can do better? Are you going to ignore what I said?
- Miles: Just do it, I have a plan.
- Oathblades Warrior B: He has a plan, let's do this!
- Oathblades Warrior C: Understood!
- The warriors split up
- Miles: ...
- Miles: ...
- Miles: Grey, go hide somewhere far.
- Grey: ...
- Grey: Urgh...
- Grey rubs against Miles' leg and doesn't leave.
- Miles: (smiles)
- Miles: You know what I'm doing?
- Several minutes later...
- Two Shadow Wolves run up to a tree
- Shadow Wolf: ...
- Shadow Wolf: Rrrooaaaarrr...
- Shadow Wolf: Arwoo...
- Three glowing Shadowcult Warlocks follow
- Shadowcult Warlock: In the tree, huh?
- Shadowcult Warlock: What a fool.
- Behind them, two gunshots take out the Shadow Wolves
- Shadowcult Warlock: What? An ambush?
- Shadowcult Warlock: Where? Shields up!
- Shadowcult Warlock: Why didn't the Shadow hounds find them?
- Miles: You call that a hound? A pair of socks took care of that.
- Shadowcult Warlock: Three-directional guard!
- Suddenly, a bomb goes off in the middle of the three warlocks, killing them
- Miles: Socks and bombs, did you expect that?
- ???: Over there!
- Miles: Got them!
- One minute later...
- An enhanced Shadow Spider Queen unit gets to Miles' location
- Shadow Spider Queen: They're still struggling...
- Shadow Spider Queen: Search this area fully!
- A bullet heads straight for the Queen but it does nothing
- Shadow Spider Queen: Annoying ants...
- Miles: The anti-Shadow Arcane Bombs don't work on these enhanced leaders.
- Miles: But...
- Boom!
- Miles: I guess the remote bomb works somewhat.
- Shadow Spider Queen: Ahh!!!
- Shadow Spider Queen: Ants...
- Miles: Just a weakling who's all talk.
- Miles runs away
- Shadow Spider Queen: Tell all the vanguards that the fleeing humans are found, and tell them to converge on this location!
- A few moments later...
- Miles leads all of the Shadow monsters to one spot
- Miles: Finally, they're all here.
- Miles: Grey!
- Grey howls loudly.
- Shadow Spider Queen: We found the ants in hiding!
- Miles: (The retreat flares have been fired...)
- Miles: (And I lured most of the pursuit Shadows here...)
- Miles: (This is the only way they will live...)
- Miles: Take this!
- Grey: Roar!
- Miles: I shattered your portal array!
- ???: Oathblades, charge!
- Oathblades warriors block any of the Shadows' escape routes
- Oathblades Warrior: Rrragh!
- Miles: What?
- Oathblades Arcanist: Burn!
- Oathblades Arcanist: Sorry about disobeying your orders, Miles.
- Miles: You...
- Miles: We'll deal with that later!
- Miles: Do everything to kill their vanguards!
- Oathblades Arcanist: Yes, sir!
- A few moments later...
- Oathblades Warrior A: Ugh...
- Miles: How are you doing?
- Oathblades Warrior C: Not great...
- Shadowbeast in the Distance: Roar!
- Miles: We're not getting out of this...
- Miles: Why are you not leaving?
- Miles: You could have lived!
- Oathblades Warrior A: And leave Miles behind?
- Oathblades Warrior C: Not a chance!
- Oathblades Arcanist: He treats us like brothers.
- Oathblades Arcanist: And... We will die for him!
- Miles: You guys...
- Miles: If that's the case...
- Miles: Then let's do this together!
- Miles: Let's wait for them and kill a few more...
- Player and Eddie's squad come to the rescue
- Miles: Eddie? What are you doing her?
- Eddie: I was just passing by...
- Eddie: Medic, take care of the wounded first!
- Player: (smiles)
- Player: Miles, we got in touch with an Oathblades high speed battleship.
- Player: They're at the empty area nearby.
- Miles: I'm fine, take care of them first.
- Light of Purity Medic: Captain...
- The medic looks at Eddie sadly, and shakes his head.
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: Miles, you go ahead. We'll take them once the medic takes care of them.
- Miles: No, I'm not going anywhere until I know that they're all safe.
- Miles: I'm not going anywhere!
- Oathblades Arcanist: Bad news... The sentry array I set up is responding.
- Oathblades Arcanist: There's a large number of Shadows coming.
- Player: If they come down on us, it's all over.
- Oathblades Warrior A: I have to stay and stall them.
- Oathblades Warrior C: Miles, please just retreat.
- Miles: What are you talking about?
- Miles: You go, Eddie. I need to be with my warriors.
- Grey: Wooo... (Bites Miles' pants)
- Eddie: ...
- Oathblades Warrior C: Eddie, just take Miles with you.
- Eddie: ...
- Miles: Eddie, you know me. I'd rather die than leave my brothers behind!
- Eddie: If that's your decision...
- Eddie: (Punches Miles while he's not looking.)
- Miles: You... hit... me...
- Eddie: For Never Isle, for those that died, I... have to take you!
- Eddie: Player, help me with this.
- Eddie: Light of Purity... Retreat!
- Shadow Monster: Rrragh!
- Oathblades Warrior: Oathblades... Swords drawn!
- Oathblades Warrior: Die, Shadows!
- Deep in the forest...
- ???: Humans... You have had your freedom for too long.
- ???: Get ready...
- ???: For the end!

Between a Rock and a Hard Place
The Shadow Reaper's presence broke the sharp blades of the warriors as the darkness in the legends covered the sky.
- After the plan to launch a surprise attack on the Shadows failed...
- The next day on Never Isle.
- Player: Miles...
- Eddie: (Shakes head...)
- Player: W... what?
- Eddie: No, you misunderstood.
- Eddie: Miles is fine. His injuries are serious, but not life-threatening. He's out of commission for a while, but he'll be alright.
- Eddie: What I'm more worried about is...
- Player: ...
- Player: Something happened during the ambush, and every squad suffered losses.
- Player: But for Miles' squad...
- Player: None of them came back.
- Eddie: He treats them like brothers.
- Eddie: And the ones that died this time were warriors that have been with him for years.
- Eddie: He's blaming himself.
- Eddie: That he's not strong enough to protect his warriors.
- Player: No one expected the Shadow to prepare four portal arrays.
- Player: It was a miracle that they managed to destroy one!
- Player: Between the Oathblades and the Order of Equality, only his warriors were able to do it.
- Eddie: In his eyes, merits and honors are not nearly as important as his brothers.
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: It's all my fault.
- Eddie: Scouting and analyzing Shadow forces was my job.
- Eddie: If I had been more careful and asked the Arcanists to check again with their artifacts...
- Eddie: Maybe...
- Player: Eddie, it's not your fault.
- Choice 1.1 - If you really want to blame someone, blame it on the Arcana Academy!
- Player: If their Shadow flux monitoring artifacts were better...
- Player: It only took one summoning array to reach the artifact's limits.
- Eddie: That's not really the point...
- Eddie: It's the most advanced equipment we have on Luxium. It's even better than the ones used by the Shadowhunters.
- Player: We did what we could.
- Player: It already happened, and blaming yourself isn't going to change anything.
- Player: The battle against Shadows has just started.
- Eddie: Hmmm...
- Player: I want to look at the combat report from yesterday to see if I can find anything useful.
- Eddie: I should do that, too.
- Choice 1.2 - Miles needs you now.
- Player: There's no point in blaming yourself. You have to get back up!
- Eddie: !!
- Eddie: I... Him... I won't...
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: I need to calm down.
- Eddie: We lived...
- Eddie: But the battle has just started...
- Eddie: I'll check the combat report from yesterday again.
- Eddie: Maybe I'll find something.
- Player: That's more like it!
- Player: I'll go with you.
- Scene continues after choices
- Player and Eddie start heading towards the Order of Equality HQ but get stopped by one of the members
- Eddie: Uh...
- Order of Equality Member: Eddie, how's your wound?
- Eddie: You look like you're from intelligence.
- Order of Equality Member: Yes, I am. Um, do you know anything about how Miles is doing?
- Eddie: He's fine, but he needs to rest.
- Order of Equality Member: That's good to know.
- Order of Equality Member: I have a lot of questions for him, considering he's the only survivor who had contact with the Shadow core area...
- Eddie: Questions?
- Eddie: Haven't you heard? He needs rest!
- Order of Equality Member: In light of recent events, the Order of Equality needs more information...
- Order of Equality Member: Time is of the essence.
- Eddie: It can't be THAT urgent.
- Eddie: Who gave you the order? I will go talk to them.
- Order of Equality Member: Um, Eddie?
- ???: Quiet!
- The three turn to see Miles heading their way.
- Player: Miles?
- Eddie: You can't get up! Your injuries...
- Miles: I'm not going to die.
- Order of Equality Member: That's great news, Miles. I'm from the intelligence department of the Order of Equality.
- Order of Equality Member: About last night's battle, I have some questions...
- Miles: Three monsters called Shadow Reaper by the Shadows entered Luxium last night.
- Miles: I was defeated, and could only whimper on the ground. Are you happy now?
- Order of Equality Member: Um, captain, I don't mean...
- Miles: Eddie, Player, I'll see you in an hour at the Oathblades. Those Shadows...
- Miles: Will pay the price!
- Miles: Get out of my way!
- Miles pushes the member to the side
- Eddie: Wait, you can't...
- Miles continues on his way but gets stopped by Izumi
- Izumi: Miles? Are you alright?
- Izumi: I brought you some fruits and food.
- Miles: ...
- Izumi: Don't worry about what happened last night.
- Izumi: Just tell me if something's on your mind.
- Izumi: We're brothers, right?
- Miles: Brothers...
- Miles: Go back to your work, Izumi. I'm fine.
- Izumi: No, I took a day off and I want to be with you.
- Izumi: You're hurt, and you need to rest...
- Miles: There's no time!
- Miles: They're waiting for me to avenge them!
- Miles leaves Izumi behind
- Izumi: ...
- Player and Eddie catch up to Izumi just as Miles leaves
- Izumi: I think I made him sad.
- Eddie: No...
- Eddie: It's just...
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: Anyway, I need to get ready for the meeting.
- Eddie leaves
- Izumi: Eddie...
- Izumi: I heard about what happened last night, Player.
- Izumi: I want to help.
- Player: ...
- Player: (You tap Izumi on the shoulder.)
- Player: They'll have to work it out on their own.
- Player: There's nothing we can do.
- Player leaves
- Izumi: Player...
- Izumi: ...
- A few moments later...
- Miles: What?
- Miles: Not attacking?
- Miles: The monsters haven't settled down yet. Now's the best time to take them out!
- Markus: Given the current situation, it's our best option.
- Miles: Are we going to let the Shadows do whatever they want on the ruins of Azria?
- Miles: I've seen them with these eyes! They are powerful, but not invincible!
- Miles: If Never Isle goes all out, we can take them down!
- Markus: What do you think will happen to Never Isle, then?
- Markus: A river and a lake will not stop the White Capes at Crossport.
- Miles: ...
- Markus: Azria is completely lost. We must protect Never Isle at all costs.
- Miles: Those blasted Mundanes...
- Markus: I know how you must feel, Miles, but you need to calm down!
- Miles: I know! Shut up!
- Miles rushes out of the door.
- Markus: We've already outlined the operation.
- Will: You'll wait for your direct superiors to tell you the details.
- Will: We just lost a battle, and the Shadows now occupy part of Azria.
- Will: I know you must be angry!
- Will: But I hope you will keep your anger in check and follow orders.
- Will: Think about our people, our duty, and our mandate!
- Markus: The victory belongs to the Gyee!
- After the meeting...
- Markus and General Will speak with Player and Eddie
- Markus: Eddie, Player, you fought a hard battle last night.
- Eddie: As a warrior of Never Isle, this is my job and my duty.
- Player: I did what I could.
- Will: The Shadow hasn't had an offensive like this in many years, so we need to be very calm and careful.
- Will: For the next two days, most of the resources from Oathblades and the Order of Equality will be used on scouting and intelligence.
- Will: Eddie, please return to the Order of Equality and tell them the details of today and tomorrow.
- Eddie: Yes, sir.
- General Will and Eddie make their way back to HQ
- Markus: Since you're closer to the Shadowhunters, Player...
- Markus: Please represent Never Isle and see if you can exchange information with them to get us something useful.
- Player: No problem. Leave it to me.
- A warrior runs up to Markus
- Oathblades Warrior: Sir!
- Oathblades Warrior: Brother Wolf... took a high-speed assault ship and left the island!
- Player: Ugh... What?
- Markus: ...
- Oathblades Warrior: Do we send someone after him?
- Markus: No, we stick to our plans.
- Markus: Return to your post, warrior.
- Oathblades Warrior: Yes, sir!
- Player: Miles? Is he going to be alright?
- Markus: Don't worry, he's impulsive, but he's not reckless.
- Markus: He knows what he's doing.
- Player: Last night must have been a shock to him.
- Markus: He has never suffered losses like that since Azria.
- Markus: Let him get it out of his system.
- Markus: He's too focused on emotions and loyalty. He can't become a true leader that way.
- Markus: I hope he learns something from this.
- Player: Emotions and loyalty... That's Miles for you.
- Markus: He'll come out of this stronger.
- The next day, you travel to Westhold.
- And it's chaos down there.
- Three-quarters of the troops there are ready to travel to the Loong Mountain Defensive Line.
- And the Shadowhunters guarding the altars all over Luxium are quickly traveling to Westhold.
- It turned out that while the Shadowcultists were summoning Shadow Reapers...
- The Shadows in Shadowland attacked the Loong Mountain Defensive Line like never before.
- Westhold was caught by surprise, like Never Isle.
- At night, Never Isle harbor...
- Eddie: Uh...
- Player: I was hoping that the Shadowhunters could give us some help.
- Player: Now...
- Eddie: The Loong Mountain Defensive Line is in danger, and the Shadowhunters need to defend themselves first.
- Eddie: It's too bad we can't provide help, either.
- Player: Alas...
- Player: How about you?
- Eddie: ...
- Player: ...
- Player: I think I can guess.
- Eddie: With the help of the Shadow Reapers, they took over the Ruins of Azria and nearby areas.
- Eddie: Using the Ruins of Azria as center, they established a perimeter about ten kilometers in radius.
- Eddie: We bombed their buildings, but they didn't send anyone after us.
- Eddie: They're focused on the construction and don't want to fight.
- Player: What do they want?
- Eddie: I have no idea.
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: Player, why don't we get some food and check on Miles?
- Eddie: Maybe he found something, too.
- Player: Miles? I heard he took off with an assault ship...
- Eddie: He got back before I did.
- Player: Then...do you know where he is?
- Eddie: (smiles)
- Eddie: Of course.
- Eddie: Come with me.
- Player: (surprised)
- Moments later, at the training ground...
- Miles: Grey!
- Grey: Rooaaarrr!
- Miles and Grey attack and destroy one of the training robots
- Miles: Not enough! Not nearly enough!
- Miles: You! Tell the equipment and the research people to give me the latest and most powerful robots for my training!
- Oathblades Warrior: Um, but they asked me to...
- Miles: Go!
- Oathblades Warrior: Yes, sir!
- The warrior quickly leaves
- Miles: Phew.
- Eddie: Here, have some water and take a break.
- Miles and Grey join Eddie and Player
- Miles: (Looks at the cup that Eddie is holding...)
- Eddie: Your favorite drink. No sugar, four times the alcohol.
- Miles: ...
- Miles: (Takes the cup and downs the contents in one gulp.)
- Miles: Did you get anything useful done today?
- Player: No... Not really.
- Eddie and you tell Miles what happened today.
- Miles: ...
- Miles grits his teeth.
- Then his eyes dim and he sighs.
- Player: Miles...
- You were going to tap him on the shoulder...
- But before you did...
- Miles: My turn.
- Miles: I tested the Shadows today.
- Eddie: Test?
- Miles: By testing, I meant that I went in and killed a few of them.
- Player: What?!
- Eddie: Your wounds...
- Miles: Don't look at me like that. I know my body better than anyone else.
- Player: What did you find?
- Miles: The construction and security Shadows on the perimeters are just... ordinary.
- Miles: They were not enhanced, like from the battle that night.
- Player: Not enhanced?
- Eddie: That means the Shadow Reapers' enhancements have a range limit.
- Player: Or that they can only enhance a certain number of Shadows.
- Miles: Either way, there is a limit to that.
- Miles: And that must apply to the other two Shadow Reapers as well.
- Eddie: Well, that's a light at the end of the tunnel.
- Miles: Don't get too excited.
- Miles: They're building a fortress, and there's a shield on the outside!
- Player: A shield?
- Miles: I don't know what it is exactly, but it's hard.
- Miles: I couldn't leave a mark even with the most powerful bomb and the largest Armor Piercer from the Oathblades.
- Miles: Maybe the large cannons on the battleships will do.
- Eddie: Sounds like an Arcana barrier...
- Eddie: I had no idea that the Shadows are capable of this.
- Player: Most likely from the Shadow Reapers.
- Player: Now we know two things that they're capable of.
- Eddie: They can place powerful barriers, and they can enhance Shadows within a certain range...
- Eddie: Looks like they're bent on occupying the Ruins of Azria.
- Miles: Occupying?
- Miles: Ten years ago, we made a oath in Azria.
- Miles: I will not let them desecrate Azria again!
- Eddie: Miles, just look at how many Shadows there are. You can't accomplish anything on your own!
- Eddie: Will you please trust the commander?
- Miles clenches his fists tight.
- Miles: I know...
- Miles turns back towards the training grounds
- Miles: Grey! Two more robots, then we go to bed!
- Grey: Arwoo!!
- One week later...
- Port Defender: Get in line for the Shadow flux check! Don't push!
- Port Defender: If you feel any discomfort, let the Defense Force know immediately.
- Izumi and the Defense Force screen people as they enter Never Isle
- Eddie and Player eventually reach Izumi
- Izumi: Eddie, Player is finally back!
- Izumi: Are you alright? You're not hurt, right?
- Player: I'm fine, I evacuated the village before the Shadows got there.
- Player: No casualties.
- Eddie: The Light of Purity are now fighting the first wave of Shadows, but it looks alright for now.
- Eddie: None of our people are hurt.
- Izumi: Phew... Good.
- Izumi: Why are the Shadows attacking the villages all of a sudden?
- Eddie: Now that they have a stronghold in Azria, it's inevitable that they'd want to expand.
- Eddie: Izumi, we have to be vigilant in checking the incoming refugees.
- Eddie: Some might be corrupted, and some might be Shadows in disguise.
- Izumi: Okay! Don't worry!
- Izumi: Um, I heard that Miles was part of the operation?
- Izumi: Is he... alright?
- Player: He has a new squad now.
- Player: If they gave him a mission, that means he's fine.
- Eddie: What hasn't he seen? Something like this isn't going to take him down.
- Izumi: That's good to know.
- Eddie: It's almost time for the strategy meeting. Shall we?
- Player: Sure.
- A few moments later, in the Arcana Academy plaza.
- Oathblades Warrior: The refugees have been settled.
- Oathblades Warrior: Can we dismiss the soldiers and let them rest for a little?
- Miles: Thirty minutes of free time, then assemble at the training ground!
- Miles: If I'm not back, just run laps to warm up!
- Oathblades Warrior: Um, sir, we fought the Shadows while trying to cover the refugees' retreat.
- Oathblades Warrior: The soldiers are tired. How about...
- Miles: This is an order!
- Miles: A war is imminent. If you're only thinking about resting, then you might very well die soon!
- Miles: Again, this is an order!
- Oathblades Warrior: Yes, sir!
- Eddie and Player find Miles
- Player: I've never seen you treat the Oathblades like this, Miles.
- Miles: Things are different now.
- Miles: The Shadows are expanding, and the Oathblades will definitely take action.
- Miles: We need to be prepared for the war!
- Miles: Little birds should also hurry up and train...
- Miles: So they don't piss their pants on the battlefield.
- Eddie: I didn't know you've become such a talker in just a few days.
- Eddie: Why don't you mind your own business?
- Miles: (smiles)
- Player: You two...
- At the Never Isle strategy meeting...
- General Will, Markus, and Vundo along with Izumi, Eddie, Miles and Player talk about the current Shadow situation
- Will: The situation is pretty clear.
- Will: After completing their base and defenses on the Ruins of Azria, the Shadows are now on the offense.
- Will: They've sent soldiers to corrupt the nearby areas.
- Will: This morning, with your hard work...
- Will: We recused all the Gyee and many ordinary humans.
- Will: Good job.
- Markus: Anyway, the meeting is about what we will be doing.
- Miles: What's there to talk about?
- Miles: We've let the Shadows do what they want for too long!
- Miles: Never Isle, Red Harbor, and Elysiann should launch an all-out attack!
- Miles: To get rid of the Shadows once and for all!
- Markus: If we let them expand...
- Markus: They will control the middle part of the Elysiann River and take control of the central continent.
- Will: Never Isle and Elysiann would not be able to communicate with each other.
- Will: The Shadows will be able to travel to Lake Bliss by water.
- Will: We can't let that happen!
- Eddie: But how much force should we send?
- Eddie: We've seen the powers of the Shadows at Azria.
- Eddie: They are led by three Shadow Reapers, the powers of two of which we've figured out.
- Miles: Everyone, of course!
- Miles: All the airships and the battleships! Blow them to smithereens!
- Eddie: Sending everyone will leave our bases weak.
- Eddie: If the White Cape knows we sent all of our forces to fight the Shadows...
- Eddie: If the White Cape at Crossport and Eversun take the opportunity to attack Never Isle and Red Harbor...
- Eddie: What will happen to us? How about the Gyee in the city?
- Miles: Will they?
- Miles: We're fighting the Shadows! We're eliminating the threat for Luxium!
- Miles: If they attack us while we're doing this...
- Miles: Then their reputation will be tarnished!
- Miles: Everyone will know that they're hypocrites!
- Miles: And then... The Gyee, the Kaism, the Shadowhunters, and everyone else... will be after them!
- Will: You're right.
- Will: But if they don't care about any of that, and really attack us then...
- Will: They'll have at least half of the continent under their control. Who will be able to fight them?
- Markus: We can't expect the White Cape to play nice.
- Markus: The Gyee have already lost Azria. We can't lose Never Isle!
- Miles: What do we do then? Do we just watch the Shadows take the River?
- Will: No!
- Will: We have to stop them from expanding.
- Player: (We have to fight, but we can't send everyone.)
- Player: (Then...)
- Player: Maybe we can send a certain number of troops to attract their attention.
- Markus: But that's not going to be a real threat to them.
- Markus: And we can only retreat if a Shadow Reaper comes out.
- Player: I don't think they will.
- Will: Oh?
- Player: We know the powers of two of them now, enhancement within range, and a Shadow barrier.
- Player: Both of which are defensive.
- Player: I think their priority is to defend the Shadow base at Azria.
- Player: The ones that they send to expand are probably not that powerful.
- Miles: To cover the Gyee villagers' retreat, my squad fought some Shadows.
- Miles: They were not enhanced.
- Miles: If we had the numbers, we could have taken them all out.
- Markus: In that case, the Oathblades and the Order of Equality will send half of their troops.
- Markus: For another joint operation. How does that sound?
- Will: That's a good idea! The goal should be to eliminate the Shadows' expanding troops.
- Will: Then we will evaluate the situation and decide whether to attack their base.
- Markus: The Academy will send researchers and Arcanists to collect samples and get intelligence on the Shadows.
- Vundo: Okay!
- Will: Izumi, the Defense Force will be in charge of security on Never Isle while we're gone.
- Izumi: Hmm... Roger!
- Three days later, the troops of the Order of Equality and the Oathblades have been arranged...
- As expected, the Shadows' expansion troops aren't very powerful.
- With the help of battleships, the ground troops quickly arrived at the Shadows' base, in front of the barrier.
- But the battleships couldn't even put a dent in the barrier.
- And the artillery fire exposed their positions, so the ships were damaged by the Shadow Cannons from within the barrier.
- And the ground troops were driven back by the enhanced Shadows...
- To curb their losses, they had to retreat...
- Three days later...
- The Order of Equality, the Oathblades, and the Arcana Academy hold another joint meeting
- Miles: ...
- Eddie: ...
- Player: ...
- Markus: Oh yeah? Then tell the ones that are watching the Shadows to come back.
- Oathblades Messenger: Yes, general!
- Markus: ...
- Markus: As expected, the Shadows blocked the River and took control of the area.
- Will: Eddie, how's the relocation of the logistics route between Never Isle and Elysiann?
- Eddie: The new route is already up and running.
- Eddie: A large portion of the goods is now shipped by sea to the Red Harbor, then transported to Never Isle.
- Will: Good job.
- Eddie: But... at best, we're operating at forty percent of the original capacity.
- Will: That can't be helped. We've done everything we can.
- Eddie: ...
- Will: The Shadows will eventually take over the central continent, and the northern shore of the River will never be safe again.
- Will: Make sure both civilian and commercial travels avoid the dangerous areas.
- Will: These are difficult times, and many people will be affected.
- Will: The harder it is, the more we must persevere.
- Markus: We'll focus on scouting for the next few days, but everyone must be ready to move out at a moment's notice!
- Markus: Anything else?
- Miles: ...
- Will: You look like you have something to say, Miles.
- Miles shakes his head.
- Miles: No, sir. I will follow your command.
- Markus: Alright. Player, please stay. The rest of you are dismissed!
- Player: Yes?
- After the meeting...
- Player: Is there anything I can do to help?
- Vundo: The Academy has been analyzing samples obtained from the battlefield.
- Vundo: And we made a huge discovery last night.
- Vundo: The Shadow Barrier over their base is not invincible!
- Vundo: It's a barrier specially designed against physical attacks, so shells and explosives don't work on them.
- Vundo: But it has two weaknesses...
- Vundo: First, the way it was designed made it easier to be destroyed from the inside.
- Player: How are we supposed to do that when we can't get inside?
- Player: What's the other weakness?
- Vundo: The Shadows are afraid of light magic.
- Player: Light magic?
- Player: Then we'll just find those who can master light magic to destroy the barrier!
- Markus: ...
- Will: That's the problem. You see...
- Will: It's not a new discovery that the Shadows are afraid of light magic.
- Will: The Shadowhunters have been using light magic to protect the Loong Mountain Defensive Line for a thousand years.
- Will: But the real experts of light magic are...
- Will: The White Capes...
- Will: And the Shadowhunters don't have anyone to spare, because they have to hold the Loong Mountain Defensive Line.
- Player: Ugh... What?
- Vundo: There's reason why the White Capes are called the Sword of Light.
- Vundo: They believe in Kaism, and their powers come from Ka.
- Vundo: The first Shadow War ended with the light of Ka dispelling the Shadows.
- Player: But... The White Capes?!
- Player: Why does it have to be them?
- Markus: ...
- Will: This morning, a messenger from Westhold came to Never Isle.
- Will: The Shadowhunters suggested that we form a temporary alliance with the White Capes.
- Will: To deal with the Shadow threat first.
- Will: The Order has been watching the White Caps.
- Will: They're facing the same problems as we are.
- Will: Now that the Shadows have blocked the middle of the River and occupied the central continent, Crossport is having a hard time.
- Will: So the Order thinks that the Shadowhunters' proposal is worth considering.
- Player: I'm guessing the Commander and the General disagree.
- Player: And that's why I'm here.
- Player: The Shadow is a threat to Never Isle, that's for sure.
- Player: But... working with the White Capes...
- Player: What will the Gyee on Never Isle think?
- Player: I think we should proceed carefully.
- Markus: Incredible, Player...
- Markus: You're right. Working with the White Capes will shake our foundation.
- Markus: It has not been easy to reunite all of us after the destruction of Azria.
- Markus: If they don't have faith in us, if they can't trust us...
- Markus: Then there's no point to get rid of the Shadows and rebuild Azria.
- Will: But now that the Shadows have the middle part of Elysian River, Never Isle within their attack range.
- Will: If we lose our home, then everything is over!
- Markus: There must be another way.
- Markus: I represent the Oathblades, and...
- Markus: We do not approve of an alliance with the White Cape.
- Will: Alright, you've made yourself pretty clear.
- Will: But the Order of Equality will keep in touch with the Shadowhunters and the White Cape to see what they're up to.
- Markus: Do what you want. At least having more information is never a bad idea.
- Markus: But don't let the Oathblades see you, because the White Cape is our enemy.
- Will: Markus...
- Markus: Yes?
- Will: Don't ever forget about Azria.
- Markus: ...
- Markus: Hmmm...
- Markus leaves
- Player: I'll be leaving, then.
- Will: Thank you, Player.
- Will: Remember, before we reach a conclusion...
- Will: Don't tell anyone about this.
- Player: Don't worry, I know.
- Player leaves
- Player: Alas...
- Player: When it rains, it pours...
- Player: The Oathblades disagreeing with the Order of Equality...
- Player: ...
- Player: They didn't ask me to do anything.
- Player: But I can't just sit here and do nothing.
- Player: I wonder what I can do to help.
- Player: And who should I help?
- Choice 2.1 - Oathblades
- Player: I suppose I'll help the Oathblades.
- A few moments later...
- Markus: I guess Player doesn't want to work with the White Cape.
- Player: They don't feel that dependable, after all.
- Player: Is there anything I can do for the Oathblades?
- Markus: Will was right about one thing.
- Markus: The Shadows really are our top threat.
- Markus: We need to get rid of the barrier first if we want to eliminate the Shadows.
- Markus: You travel around Luxium a good deal, Player...
- Markus: Maybe you've come across people that don't belong in White Cape but are good with light magic?
- Player: Hmm.
- Player: You have a point. If we can get rid of the barrier on our own, then we don't need the White Cape!
- Markus: Time is of the essence. Let me know if you find anyone!
- Player: Got it!
- Player: I will do my best!
- Markus: Thank you, Player.
- Choice 2.2 - Order of Equality
- Player: I guess I'll help the Order of Equality...
- A few moments later...
- Will: What's up, Player?
- Player: I want to do something to help.
- Will: Oh?
- Player: If the White Cape can help us get rid of the barrier...
- Player: We should give it a try, whether the cooperation is sincere or not.
- Player: And if we can take this opportunity to get rid of some of the grudge and prejudice between us and then...
- Player: That would also be good.
- Will: That's why I want to take the risk.
- Will: But considering your past clashes against the White Cape, Player...
- Will: I'm not sure if you should be the one to negotiate with them.
- Will: I've already sent Eddie to see them.
- Will: But I want to give you something more important.
- Player: Please.
- Will: Markus is a sensible person. He refused because of his warriors.
- Player: Like Miles, many have a grudge against the White Cape.
- Will: And they're not the minority.
- Will: I hope you can talk to them, Player.
- Player: ...
- Player: That's not going to be easy.
- Will: I don't need you to convince them. Just go talk to them.
- Will: Try to understand their worries, and put in an encouraging word or two.
- Player: I'll give it a try!
- Scene continues after choices
- Three days later, in the evening, Never Isle port...
- Player: No progress? If it keeps going like this...
- Player walks around alone when he overhears a conversation
- ???: Alright, that's it. Keep it a secret, please.
- Player: Yes?
- Farther down the port, Eddie talks to two Order of Equality members
- Eddie: If someone asks, just remember what I told you...
- Order of Equality Member: But... I still think...
- Eddie: Whatever is on your mind stays in your mind and your mind only.
- Eddie: We're doing everything for our people, for Never Isle.
- Order of Equality Member: Hmm... Roger!
- The members leave
- Player: Well, Eddie is back. Guess I'll go say hi.
- Something doesn't feel right...
- Player: Watch out!
- Suddenly, three Oathblades warriors run over to Eddie
- Eddie: ...
- Oathblades Warrior: Eddie...
- Eddie: You look like an Oathblade under Miles.
- Eddie: What do you want from me?
- Oathblades Warrior: We heard some... crazy rumors.
- Oathblades Warrior: We're hoping you'll tell us that they're not true!
- Player: Oh no!
- Player: Wait, what are you doing?
- Oathblades Warrior: It's none of your business, Player!
- Oathblades Warrior: This is...
- Oathblades Warrior: Personal!
- Player: !!
- Oathblades Warrior: My informant at Crossport sent a message...
- Oathblades Warrior: Saying that you and some officers from the Order of Equality went to a village between Crossport and Never Isle...
- Oathblades Warrior: To negotiate peace?
- Eddie: You still have ways to go on collecting intelligence.
- Eddie: It's a temporary truce.
- Oathblades Warrior: So the Order of Equality isn't even trying to come up with excuses anymore?
- Eddie: If you're here, then you already know.
- Eddie: I don't have to hide it from you. We're comrades.
- Oathblades Warrior: Comrades?
- Oathblades Warrior: You're not one of us!
- Oathblades Warrior: They're the White Cape!
- Eddie: Everything the Order of Equality does is for us... and only for us...
- Oathblades Warrior: Shut up!
- One of the warriors raises their sword at Eddie
- Oathblades Warrior: For the ones that died in vain! The ones that sacrificed themselves!
- Player: No!
- Player: (They're going to attack!)
- Choice 3.1 - (Stop them)
- Oathblades Warrior: Hahhh!!
- Player: Calm down!
- Choice 3.2 - (Bring the Oathblades and the Order of Equality together)
- Oathblades Warrior: Hahhh!!
- Player: Calm down!
- Scene continues after choices
- Despite Player's words, the warrior attacks Eddie but he takes the blow
- Eddie: ...
- ???: Stop this madness right now!
- Miles: What do you think you're doing? Pulling your sword on your own people? How many of you? And how many of them?
- Miles: Are you so full of yourselves?
- Miles: Training ground, twenty laps!
- Oathblades Warrior: But Eddie...
- Miles: Get out of here!
- Oathblades Warrior: Uh...
- Oathblades Warrior: Ugh... Let's go!
- The Oathblade warriors leave
- Player: Eddie!
- Eddie: I'm fine...
- Player: They really hurt you, didn't they?
- Eddie: Nothing that would kill me.
- Eddie: Don't punish them, Miles.
- Miles: You didn't fight back, and you're asking me to go easy on them.
- Miles: Why are you always like that?
- Eddie: We're the same. I can't very well hurt them.
- Eddie: They knew I went to the White Cape for a temporary truce, so naturally they want me to pay for what I've done.
- Miles: ...
- Miles: Why?
- Eddie: The threat of the Shadow base will only become worse.
- Eddie: They cut off our shipping routes.
- Eddie: If we can't do business, people will lose their jobs soon.
- Eddie: Never Isle has prospered in the last decade...
- Eddie: No one wants to go back.
- Eddie: If ordinary people have to starve themselves to get by, how can we even fight the Shadows?
- Eddie: How do we let our people live the lives they deserve in Luxium?
- Miles: ...
- Miles: When Never Isle was just founded, the Commander took a group of hot-blooded young men back to the Ruins of Azria.
- Miles: They were orphans that lost their parents because of the White Cape.
- Miles: They were ordinary people pursued by the White Cape.
- Miles: They were wanderers that lost their homes because of the White Cape.
- Miles: We raised our swords and took an oath. We became the Oathblades.
- Miles: We have nothing to say to them!
- Miles: You have your own ideas...
- Miles: But we have our bottom line.
- Miles: Just be careful.
- Miles leaves
- Eddie: Thanks, Player. You should get some rest.
- Player: ...
- Eddie: What's up?
- Player: I...
- Choice 4.1 - Is Miles alright?
- Player: Did something happen to Miles?
- Player: The Miles I knew... if he found out about the truce...
- Player: He would have fought you, no questions asked.
- Choice 4.2 - Miles feels... different.
- Player: I don't think this is the same Miles.
- Player: I don't mean this in a bad way.
- Player: But you didn't even argue!
- Conversation continues after choices
- Eddie: Ha ha ha!
- Eddie: If he knew another way to bring down the Shadow barrier...
- Eddie: He would have argued with me.
- Player: You mean...
- Eddie: A lot of people, including you, Player, misunderstand him.
- Eddie: He's got a temper, and he's reckless...
- Eddie: But he's also a logical person.
- Eddie: He thinks everything thoroughly before taking action.
- Eddie: Every charge that looked impulsive was calculated.
- Eddie: That's why everything he does on the battlefield has unexpected consequences that give us an advantage.
- Player: That's true. He looks like a fierce leader of the wolf pack when he's fighting.
- Eddie: When he's not fighting, he is bold, and he wears his mind on his sleeve.
- Eddie: Even those who just joined the Oathblades can befriend him quickly.
- Eddie: I... am jealous of him.
- Eddie: I want to be friends with my warriors, too.
- Eddie: But in their eyes, I'm always their superior. There will always be a barrier between me and them.
- Eddie: I want to make the most out of my limited troops.
- Eddie: But just analyzing the situation and making the right choice already have me spent.
- Eddie: I can't do more than carrying out the general's orders the way he wants.
- Player: ...
- Eddie: Miles... is like the Commander when he was young.
- Eddie: Brave, and respected.
- Eddie: Never Isle... The Gyee... needs a leader like him.
- Player: ...
- Player: Now I understand why he said you're always like that.
- Eddie: Did I say something wrong?
- Player: No, you're right.
- Player: But you... reflect too much.
- Eddie: Uh...
- Player: Miles is great.
- Player: But Never Isle needs someone practical and calm like you.
- Player: If no one completes their missions as thoroughly and meticulously like you...
- Player: Then Miles can't afford to be spontaneous.
- Eddie: Player...
- Player: Now I understand why.
- Player: You belong to two different organizations with different beliefs.
- Player: You clash sometimes, but you are the same.
- Player: You're both fiercely loyal to Never Isle and to the Gyee, and you both fight for their future.
- Player: I know how you really feel about him.
- Player: And why you're always praising him.
- Player: But the truth is Never Isle needs both of you.
- Eddie: (smiles)
- Eddie: Wait, did you just say...
- Eddie: Uh...
- Eddie: You misunderstood, Player!
- Player: Uh huh.
- Player: Whatever you say.
- The two hear an explosion from far away
- Player: What's this?
- Suddenly, artillery comes down on their position
- Eddie: Watch out!
- Player: What's going on here?
- Miles runs to the port
- Miles: Stop staring into space! Look for cover!
- Eddie: Miles!
- Eddie: Let's go!
- The three run through the Isle altering of the attack
- Miles: Shadow attack!
- Miles: Get your people and fight back!
- The Shadows' ships avoided the sentry artifact on Lake Bliss at night and surrounded Never Isle.
- But Never Isle was able to put up a temporary energy barrier, thanks to the Arcana Nexus and an artifact called the Phantom Mask.
- The Oathblades, the Order of Equality, and the Defense Force fought valiantly...
- And they drove back the Shadows surrounding Never Isle.
- However...
- Multiple buildings are damaged and burning from the attack
- Izumi and the Defense Force look for anyone that needs aid
- Injured Civilian: My leg! Ahhhhhh! My leg!
- Izumi: The building over there collapsed! Rescue the people trapped in the rubble!
- Izumi: Go, go, go!
- Izumi: Uh...
- Izumi: Are you hurt?
- Izumi: It's not safe here, let me help you out.
- Izumi is about to help him, but the wounded man shoves Izumi away.
- Wounded Man: Get out of my face!
- Izumi: !!
- Wounded Man: My man... My brother... My family... All dead!
- Wounded Man: Are you doing your jobs?
- Wounded Man: I thought Lake Bliss was safe?
- Wounded Man: I thought Never Isle was protected by an artifact and that outsiders couldn't find it?
- Wounded Man: Why?
- Wounded Man: Why?
- Wounded Man: What is the Defense Force doing?
- The wounded man takes off
- Izumi: N-no!
- Izumi: ...
- Across the way, Eddie sees Izumi's distress but knows his focus must be on Never Isle
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: Help the Defense Forces!
- Light of Purity Warrior: Yes, sir!
- Likewise, nearby Miles saw the interaction but turns his attention back to a burning building
- Miles: ...
- Miles: If you can still move, put out the fire with me!
- Oathblades Warrior: Yes, sir!
- After a while, the fires from the Shadow bombardment are finally extinguished.
- And the injured were treated.
- Izumi, who has been on the front line this entire time, finally gets to take a break.
- Player: Everyone did their best to reduce the number of casualties.
- Izumi: Huff, puff...
- Izumi: Finally...
- ???: What the hell is going on?!
- Eddie angrily approaches Izumi
- Eddie: I told you to check the incoming refugees carefully to not let any Shadows in!
- Player: Calm down, Eddie!
- Izumi: It's all my fault.
- Izumi: If there were no Shadow spies on Never Isle...
- Izumi: Shadows would not have avoided our patrol and the artifacts at Lake Bliss.
- Izumi: And they wouldn't have found Never Isle hiding behind the artifacts.
- Izumi: ...
- Izumi lowers his head, tears in his eyes.
- Miles: Izumi is not the problem!
- Miles taps Izumi on the shoulder.
- Miles: The Shadows are our problem!
- The next day...
- Miles: Hrrrraahhh!!!
- Miles is at the training grounds again
- Miles: Huff, puff...
- Miles: Again!
- Oathblades Warrior: We're out of training robots...
- Miles: Then get some from the other teams!
- Oathblades Warrior: Yes... Sir!
- Close by, Player talks with two of the Oathblades Warriors
- Player: ...
- Oathblades Warrior: Player, will you please talk to him?
- Oathblades Warrior: He's been training since this morning.
- Player: None of us can help him.
- Player: But I know who might. Bring the training robot anyway.
- Oathblades Warrior: Huh... but...
- Player: Don't worry!
- Oathblades Warrior: Thank you, Player!
- A few moments later...
- Player: You're holding...
- Player: The drink from that day?
- Eddie: He's doing it to himself again.
- Eddie: Here, have some water and take a break.
- Miles comes over and grabs the bottle from Eddie
- Miles: (Gulps down the drink.)
- Miles: ...
- Eddie: (Takes the empty bottle.)
- Miles: ...
- Eddie: Another one? Doesn't hurt to drink more water.
- Miles: No, too much water will slow me down.
- Miles turns back towards the training grounds
- Eddie: Wait!
- Miles: What else?
- Eddie: I know what you're thinking. You can wreck as many robots as you want, but you're not going to get rid of the Shadows that way.
- Eddie: We haven't sparred in a while.
- Miles: You?
- Eddie: Don't ever underestimate your enemies!
- Miles: (smiles)
- Miles: Are you really taunting me?
- Miles: Looks like I need to teach you a lesson or two!
- Eddie: You asked for it!
- Eddie attacks
- Miles: You're faster than before!
- Miles: But still not good enough!
- Miles: Eat this!
- Player: (smiles)
- At night, Never Isle...
- Miles stand in front of a large tombstone for all of the lost Oathblades warriors
- Grey lies next to him, head down.
- Miles takes out several bottles of alcohol from a case, and takes out some cups.
- He pours more than twenty drinks.
- Then he puts the drinks in front of the graves, in the same order as when they lined up.
- Miles: ...
- Miles: I've been holding onto these bottles for a long time.
- Miles: We haven't won yet...
- Miles pours another three glasses.
- Miles: But... Now we know how to get rid of the Shadows!
- Miles: It's just...
- Miles looks sad again.
- But very soon...
- Miles: (angry)
- Miles: I don't have what it takes to ask for forgiveness.
- Miles: But I will avenge you!
- Miles downs a drink.
- Eddie: Miles?
- Eddie finds Miles in the middle of his ceremony
- Miles: You're always on time.
- Miles hands a drink to Eddie.
- Miles: Here.
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie needs to stay focused and sober at all times.
- But he does not hesitate and takes the drink from Miles.
- Miles: (Miles raises the last glass.)
- Miles: To Never Isle!
- Eddie: To the Gyee!
- Continue to Trifle - The Enemy of Our Enemy
The Enemy of Our Enemy
The enemies are at our doorstep, and the enemies of our enemy... are enemies as well.
- Two days after the Shadows attacked Never Isle at night...
- Gunfire is heard near Crossport, where Lake Bliss drains into the river.
- Then the Shadow Reaper that can enhance Shadows starts pushing westward with an army.
- Humans have never seen such a huge contingent of Shadows since the Second Shadow War.
- They are serious this time.
- But the humans... are trapped in the prison they built for themselves.
- A cage woven over decades of misunderstanding and hatred.
- Northwest Luxium, Westhold...
- Miles and a White Cape captain stare down at each other, each of their group of warriors ready to fight
- Miles: ...
- White Cape Captain: ...
- Miles: We haven't signed the truce yet.
- White Cape Captain: I could say the same thing about you.
- Miles: Why don't you try?
- Grancy and Brian come to calm things down
- Grancy: The truce representatives have just arrived at Westhold.
- Grancy: You will be in charge of security at the truce negotiation.
- Miles: ...
- White Cape Captain: ...
- Brian: The generals are here. Protect them at all costs!
- White Cape Captain: Let's go!
- Miles: Weapons down!
- Later...
- Oathblades Warrior: I hate not being able to attack the White Cape standing in front of me!
- Oathblades Warrior: I've never been so angry!
- Miles: Just let it out. Don't forget why we're here.
- Oathblades Warrior: Don't worry, I do.
- Oathblades Warrior: But if the White Cape attacks the Gyee...
- Oathblades Warrior: They'll be dead!
- Eddie and Player arrive
- Player: Miles!
- Eddie: Sorry, we're late.
- Miles: Where's the commander and the general?
- Eddie: Behind us.
- Miles turns to the Oathblades
- Miles: Protect the commander and Will!
- Miles: Keep your eyes open, and don't let the White Cape pull anything.
- Oathblades Warrior: Yes, sir!
- The warriors leave
- Miles: ...
- Miles: I'm already regretting this.
- Eddie: How are things?
- Miles: What do you think?
- Miles: It's like a family reunion, you know? Hugs and greetings all around!
- Miles: Ha!
- Eddie: Alright...
- Eddie: At least there's no bloodshed.
- Miles: ...
- Player: It's not as bad as we thought.
- Miles: If it weren't because of the Shadows...
- Miles: They'd be dead right now!
- Miles: Anyway, why are you late? What happened?
- Miles: Did you run into trouble?
- Player: Yes, the airship with Eddie, the general and the Warriors encountered Shadows on their way.
- Player: So did the general and I on land.
- Eddie: There were a lot of them, but we managed to lose them with the speed of the airship. Took a bit of time, though...
- Eddie: The White Cape was late because they encountered Shadows as well.
- Player: Small Shadow squads have already been seen near Westhold.
- Player: Like the commander predicted, the Shadows knew that the Shadowhunters would try to arrange a truce between us and the White Cape.
- Player: They even tried to ambush us.
- Eddie: Good thing we divided into three groups to go to Westhold.
- Miles: That means the Shadows know what we're up to.
- Miles: It's very likely that they know we're meeting the White Cape here in Westhold.
- Miles: To avoid suspicion, we didn't bring a lot of troops to Westhold.
- Miles: Let's get on with the meeting!
- Player: If the Shadows considered it, then we don't have a lot of time left.
- A warrior from the Order of Equality's Light of Purity comes to deliver a message to Eddie
- Light of Purity Warrior: Sir, the Shadowhunters notified us that the truce negotiations will start in twenty minutes.
- Light of Purity Warrior: Please be ready.
- Eddie: Got it.
- Miles: We'll take care of security. Just do what you've come here to do.
- Eddie: Of course!
- Player: Don't stir up trouble, alright?
- Miles: We'll play by the rules as long as they do.
- Moments later, in front of the Shadowhunters' meeting room...
- Eddie: ...
- Player: Not going in yet?
- Eddie: There's still a little time left.
- Eddie: I want to go over my speech again.
- Eddie: So I don't forget anything.
- Player: You're too nervous, Eddie.
- Player: Don't think too much about the negotiation.
- Player: It's just like all the other trade negotiations you participated in.
- Eddie: How are they the same?
- Eddie: I'm representing the Order of Equality and Never Isle!
- Eddie: Player, do you understand what an opportunity this is?
- Eddie: It's a great chance to clear up the misunderstandings that ordinary humans have about us, through negotiation and not violence.
- Eddie: So that they know we do not work for the Shadows!
- Eddie: We are the same as them, and the Shadows are our common enemy!
- Eddie: Player, it's my dream to create a Luxium where humans and the Gyee are treated equally.
- Eddie: If the truce succeeds...
- Eddie: Then we're a little closer toward our goal.
- Player: (smiles)
- Player: Alright, give me your speech.
- Player: I'll go over it with you.
- Eddie: Of course!
- Moments later, at the truce negotiations between Never Isle and Crossport...
- Representatives from Never Isle, the Shadowhunters and the White Cape stand around a large table
- Takashi, representing the Shadowhunters, facilitates this important meeting
- Takashi: Now the representative from Never Isle will speak.
- Eddie steps forward, General Will, Markus and Player behind him
- Eddie: Dear sirs...
- Eddie: A thousand years ago, the Shadow rose and the guardians were corrupted. The Shadows overwhelmed Luxium like a storm.
- Eddie: Our ancestors, the courageous Gyee and the fearless humans formed the Anti-Shadow Forces...
- Eddie: They drove the Shadows back and limited to the Shadowland.
- Eddie: In return, we lived peacefully for a thousand years.
- Eddie: And now... The Shadow army is attacking the Loong Mountain Defensive Line.
- Eddie: The Shadowcultists summoned Shadow Reapers and occupied the central continent.
- Eddie: The Shadows now control part of the Elysian River and cut off our transportation and logistics route.
- Eddie: Darkness is coming for us!
- Eddie: In the past, we raised our weapons against one another because of misunderstandings.
- Eddie: But we now have a common enemy.
- Eddie: I think it is time to put down the misunderstandings, hatred, and anger, and to become one again.
- Eddie: To...
- White Cape General A: Enough! Don't waste our time!
- White Cape General B: (whispers) Hey, calm down.
- Eddie: Uh...
- Takashi: What do you mean, General Perth?
- General Perth: I'm not here to listen to these empty words.
- General Perth: It's true that the Gyee are working with the Shadows!
- General Perth: Just look at Martin and Rita!
- Player: (angry)
- Player: General Perth, how do you explain that most of the Shadowcultists are humans?
- General Perth: True, but their officers are Gyee, right?
- General Perth: And now you want to rebuild the Anti-Shadow Forces, to fight the Shadows together?
- General Perth: Lies!
- Eddie: If you don't have faith in Never Isle...
- Eddie: Why are you here?
- General Perth: The Shadowhunters invited us, and it would look bad for the Sword of Light to turn them down!
- Oathblades Representative: You're just here to look for trouble, aren't you?
- The argument elevates and the meeting is about to spiral out of control.
- Takashi: Quiet!
- Takashi: This is Westhold! The headquarters of the honorable Shadowhunters!
- Takashi: If you're not ready to fight the Shadows, then please leave!
- Everyone quiets down after Takashi's outburst.
- Will gestures at Eddie.
- Eddie: (surprised)
- Eddie steps aside
- Will: The meeting is just a scale. What matters is what we put on the scale.
- Will: Both humans and Gyee fell for the Shadowcult.
- Will: But their individual decisions do not speak for everyone.
- Will: If General Perth doesn't want to waste any time, then we will get right to the point.
- Will: The Sword of Light has been making enemies out of the Gyee for decades.
- Will: Creating tension and spreading hate, so that humans will hate Gyee.
- Will: You know what lies I speak of.
- General Perth: What did you say?
- White Cape General B: General Perth, please don't...
- General Perth: Don't stop me, Diesel!
- General Diesel: This will damage our relationship with the Shadowhunters!
- General Perth: Ugh...
- General Diesel: Please continue, Will.
- Will: I know that working together with Never Isle to fight the Shadows...
- Will: Goes against the image you've been creating all this time, and you'd rather not do that.
- Will: But the alternative is having the Shadows invade Crossport.
- Will: I think you know better where your priorities should be.
- General Perth: What a joke. Our swords can breach the Shadow's defense at any time!
- General Perth: Our warriors are the bravest!
- General Perth: And it won't be long before the Sword of Light eliminates all the Shadows!
- General Perth: So why do we have to work with you?
- Markus: I think you can fire your intelligence agent, Perth.
- Markus: You launched three large-scale attacks at the Shadow base in the last ten days...
- Markus: But they all failed, didn't they?
- General Perth: !!
- Markus: Your priests do have what it takes to bring down the barrier...
- Markus: But you don't have enough elite troops to take on the large number of enhanced Shadows.
- Markus: And you had to retreat.
- General Perth: ...
- General Perth: That's just a skirmish before the final showdown!
- General Perth: Our next attack will be one for the history of Luxium!
- General Perth: The warriors of the Sword of Light will emerge victorious!
- Will: But you're worried about Never Isle invading Crossport while you're fighting the Shadows.
- General Perth: ...
- Will: General Perth, General Diesel... There are lots of spies from both sides.
- Will: We both know what each other is up to, and this sort of empty talk is just a waste of time.
- Will: I hope you can see our sincerity.
- General Perth waves.
- General Diesel: Will, Markus, you're right.
- General Diesel: The situation is not very optimistic.
- General Diesel describes the hardships that the White Cape has been facing since the Shadows occupied the Ruins of Azria...
- It sounds a lot like what's been happening on Never Isle.
- The Shadow base heavily impacted the daily operations of Crossport.
- They can't be driven back with just the normal number of troops...
- But they're worried of being attacked from the back if they send all their troops.
- Takashi: Alas...
- Takashi: Everyone is having a tough time.
- Takashi: The Shadows keep pushing the limits of the Loong Mountain Defensive Line.
- Takashi: There are no Shadow Reapers, but they're almost endless, and we can't spare anyone.
- Takashi: We are unable to assist you.
- General Diesel: How are the altars and the Flux Nexus in Luxium?
- Takashi: They're not the Shadows' main target, and have not been attacked.
- Markus: I knew it.
- An explosion goes off in the distance
- Markus: The Shadows occupied the middle section of the river, then pushed westward. And they're attacking the Loong Mountain Defensive Line...
- Markus: They're trying to divide us up and take us out all at once.
- General Diesel: Only if they can really split our troops.
- General Perth: ...
- Will: Never Isle is willing to accept the truce with the Sword of Light.
- Will: We will form an alliance with the Sword of Light, as proposed by the Shadowhunters, so that we can fight the Shadows together.
- Will: But the Sword of Light must stop persecuting the Gyee and release all the Gyee that have been detained.
- General Perth: We will accept these conditions.
- Markus: Hm?
- Markus: How about you?
- General Perth: We propose drawing a line at the middle point between Never Isle and Crossport. Crossport wants complete control of the area north of the line.
- Will: That means... Using Lake Bliss as the reference, that would be the upper Elysian River area and near Crossport.
- Will: You want complete control over that?
- General Perth: Correct!
- Will: Please allow us to contemplate.
- General Perth: And one more thing.
- General Perth: The Sword of Light wants to govern Elysiann with Never Isle. The sovereignty should be fifty-fifty.
- Player: What?!
- General Perth: Aren't you trying to say that Gyee are also humans?
- General Perth: If they're the same, why can't they rule a city together?
- Eddie: Ugh...
- Eddie: You can't be serious...
- Will: (Stops Eddie from talking further...)
- Will: I think there's a misunderstanding, General Perth.
- Will: Elysiann is governed locally.
- Will: Never Isle is only a trade partner.
- Will: If you want to rule Elysiann...
- Will: You should contact them.
- General Perth: Do you think we're stupid?
- General Perth: Everyone in Luxium knows who actually rules Elysiann.
- General Diesel: Elysiann is located in lower Elysian River, which is not attacked by Shadows right now.
- General Diesel: Strategically speaking, if the troops attack from both east and west, the Shadows will be caught in the middle.
- General Diesel: We can conquer their base in no time.
- General Diesel: Then we will help the Shadowhunters with the Shadows attacking the Loong Mountains.
- General Diesel: The Sword of Light wants control over Elysiann not for ourselves...
- General Diesel: But for the ultimate victory of humans!
- General Diesel: Perhaps Never Isle will also see the big picture and agree with us.
- Player: Shameless.
- Player: They want to take advantage of us, but they make it sound so... grand...
- Player: If we just refuse, the White Cape will definitely make something out of it...
- Markus: Not a bad idea, but we do not accept.
- Two more explosions faintly echo from the outside
- Takashi: ...
- General Diesel: Are you sure, commander?
- Markus: In that case, we will propose something equal.
- Markus: Crossport is the closest city to the Shadow base. Why don't we rule that together?
- Markus: If the alliance attacks from Crossport and Elysiann, we'll have a better chance of winning.
- General Diesel: Ha ha ha!
- General Diesel: You're funny, commander.
- Markus: What is the point, then?
- Markus: Never Isle will not rule Elysiann with you.
- More distant explosions go off
- General Perth: If Never Isle isn't sincere about this...
- General Perth: Then I think we're done here.
- General Perth: Let's go.
- General Diesel: General!
- Takashi: Everyone, please calm down.
- Markus: If they want to leave, let them leave.
- Markus: The Shadows already have people suffering.
- Markus: I can't believe they're only thinking about themselves right now!
- Markus: I feel very sad for the people of Crossport.
- General Diesel: Please take that back, commander.
- Markus: If you do not agree to a truce to fight the Shadows together...
- Markus: Then we are still enemies outside of Westhold.
- Markus: Maybe you should pray to your gods.
- Markus: Pray that you might still have warriors to fight when the ships from Never Isle arrive at Crossport.
- General Perth: ...
- General Perth: The Holy Light, please forgive me...
- Meanwhile...
- Boom!
- Shadowhunter Warrior: Block the breach! Don't let the Shadows in!
- Miles and the Oathblades intercept a large group of Shadow trying to invade Crossport
- Oathblades Warrior: Hahhh!!
- Miles: There are a lot of them! Try staying in formation!
- Oathblades Warrior: Yes, sir!
- Miles: Where are the scouts?
- Oathblades Lieutenant: Sir! Lots of Shadow troops are rushing toward our southern line of defense!
- Oathblades Lieutenant: We're under siege, and the scouts can't get out!
- Miles: Hold the line! You, come with me to the south!
- Oathblades Lieutenant: Yes, sir!
- A few moments later...
- Oathblades Warrior: We've driven them back for now...
- Oathblades Lieutenant: But just look at the smoke signals. They'll be back soon.
- Miles: How about the reinforcements from Never Isle and the Northern Desert?
- Oathblades Lieutenant: The ones from Never Isle have departed, but they need six more hours to get here.
- Oathblades Lieutenant: The Northern Desert reinforcements ran into an ambush, so they might take longer...
- Miles: The Shadows are moving in really fast.
- Miles: They probably knew we were thinking about a truce with the White Cape.
- Miles: We won't last very long like this!
- Miles: The Shadows are prepared. Operations like these are bound to have supply lines and reinforcements.
- Miles: We need to know what they're up to.
- Oathblades Lieutenant: What if we ask the Light of Purity to send their assault ships and scout from above?
- Miles: No, they're the last line of defense in Westhold, protecting the commander.
- Miles: Most of the Shadowhunters are in Loong Mountains, and we can't put more pressure on them.
- Miles: It'll be nothing but trouble if Westhold is breached.
- Oathblades Lieutenant: In that case...
- Oathblades Lieutenant: There's only a high point about two kilometers southwest.
- Miles: I'll take a few and go that way.
- Oathblades Lieutenant: But that's where their main attacks are coming from, and it's incredibly dangerous.
- Oathblades Lieutenant: If we're really going that way, we'll need to bring half of our troops.
- Miles: That's too risky. Do you really think the White Cape will protect the commander?
- Oathblades Lieutenant: Ugh...
- Miles: There are just a lot of them, but they're not that powerful.
- Miles: I'll go southwest with ten people. Stay behind and protect Westhold!
- Miles: Keep the commander safe!
- Miles: No matter what happens, do not leave this place!
- Oathblades Lieutenant: ...
- Oathblades Lieutenant: Yes, sir!
- Miles: Come with me, squad one.
- Miles: Follow me!
- Oathblades Warrior: Rrragh!
- Moments later, Oathblades defense troops...
- Oathblades Scout: Sir, a group of White Cape warriors went after Miles!
- Oathblades Lieutenant: What?!
- Oathblades Warrior: They're going to attack him from behind!
- Oathblades Lieutenant: Ugh...
- Oathblades Warrior: Order please, sir! Miles is in danger!
- Oathblades Lieutenant: No...
- Oathblades Warrior: What?
- Oathblades Lieutenant: Our job is to hold this line!
- Oathblades Lieutenant: We have to protect the commander and the people of Westhold!
- Oathblades Warrior: Sir!
- Oathblades Lieutenant: This is an order from Miles!
- A few moments later...
- Shadow Soldier: The humans are coming!
- A Shadow Soldier runs to alert two Shadowcultists of Miles' advance
- Miles: Die, Shadows!
- Before the Shadow Solder can say anything else, Miles shoots him the back of the head and the other cultists are dispatched by some Oathblade warriors
- Oathblades Warrior: Sir, more Shadows are coming our way!
- Miles: I just wanted some intelligence, and didn't expect to attract the Shadows nearby...
- Miles: I guess they really don't want me to go up the mountains!
- Miles: Stay in formation and keep going!
- Miles continues up the mountain but gets ambushed by four Shadow Demons
- Miles: Ambush!
- Shadow Demon: You're not going anywhere!
- Miles: Fight on!
- The warriors attach the demons but three more demons teleport in, surrounding Miles
- Oathblades Warrior: They're going for Miles!
- Miles: You're a bold one!
- Miles quickly shoots down two of the demons
- Miles: Too late...
- Miles: ...
- Shadow Demon: Go to hell!
- Miles takes out the last demon
- Miles: Well!!
- Just then, Miles spots Brian and some White Cape soldiers making their way up the mountain
- Miles: !!
- Brian: The Sword of Light eliminates the Shadows!
- Miles: Fight back!
- A few moments later...
- Miles and Brian go up the mountain together to spy on the Shadows movements
- Massive amounts of Shadow exit multiple portals
- Brian: They placed a lot of gates.
- Miles: No wonder they just keep coming.
- Miles & Brian: Guys!
- Oathblades Warrior: Brother Wolf!
- White Cape Warrior: Captain Brian!
- Miles: I don't like to owe anyone anything.
- Miles: Go back to protect your superior. The Oathblades will get rid of the gates and stop the reinforcements.
- Brian: ...
- Brian: The Shadows are your enemies, and they're also our enemies.
- Brian: Tell everyone to assemble and get ready for an assault!
- The two groups fight together to make their way towards the portals
- White Cape Warrior: Treat the injured first!
- Oathblades Warrior: Bring the injured over here for treatment!
- Lightly Wounded Oathblades Warrior: Blasted Shadow magic...
- Oathblades Warrior: Miles said to regroup and attack from the back with White Cape to cut off their reinforcements!
- One of the White Cape checks on the wounded Oathblades warrior
- Oathblades Warrior: I'm just a little dizzy. I'll be fine!
- White Cape Warrior: ...
- Oathblades Warrior: Well!!
- The White Cape helps the wounded warrior back up
- White Cape Warrior: The battle is not over yet...
- Oathblades Warrior: ...
- Oathblades Warrior: Got Shadows to kill!
- A few moments later...
- The Shadows' reinforcements and gates are defeated by the Oathblades and the White Cape.
- Miles: There they go.
- Brian: Sword of Light! Check the battlefield, do not let any Shadows get away!
- Brian turns to Miles
- Brian: We could not have won by ourselves.
- Brian: (Extends his right hand to Miles)
- Brian: On behalf of my brothers, I thank you for your assistance.
- Miles: Don't get it wrong! We launched the assault!
- Miles: Brian, is it?
- Miles: Even though you're from the White Cape, you're a real man.
- Miles: (Holds Brian's hand)
- Miles: I owe you one. And I always pay my debts!
- Oathblades Messenger: Sir, no more Shadows in this area!
- Miles: Don't let your guard down.
- Miles: Set sentry posts for an ambush.
- Miles: We cut off their reinforcements, and they might retaliate.
- Suddenly, footsteps approach them...
- Miles: ...
- Miles: Who is it?
- Player: Miles!
- Eddie: (smiles)
- Miles: Eddie? Player? What are you guys doing here?
- Eddie: Miles...
- Eddie: It's done!
- Miles: !!
- Eddie: The Commander and the general signed the truce with the two generals from Sword of Light!
- Eddie: The Gyee and the Sword of Light have entered a truce.
- Eddie: Now they will fight the Shadows together!
- Player: Time to give them hell!
- Eddie: (smiles)
- Miles: (smiles)
- Miles: It's not even that big of a deal. Why are you so happy?
- Miles: Commander said you must hide your emotions!
- Eddie: (Hugs Miles)
- Miles: What are you doing?
- Eddie: Thanks.
- One week later, northwest Never Isle, at the forests near the entrance of Lake Bliss...
- Vanguard base of the Never Isle Crossport alliance...
- After months of training as part of Operation Heaven, Eddie wears the new weapon, Sky's Wings
- Player: Looking good, Eddie.
- Player: You blew the Shadows here to smithereens yesterday!
- Player: I heard it's a set of experimental gear from the Order of Equality.
- Player: It's capable of everything, right?
- Eddie: It's not as dramatic as you're making it out to be...
- Eddie: We have a limited number of battleships, and it takes a lot of work to maintain and arm them.
- Eddie: It's not possible to use them in every battle.
- Eddie: The R&D at Order of Equality has been trying to craft aerial combat gear for individual soldiers.
- Eddie: So that we can have an advantage from above without artillery support.
- Eddie: This is a prototype.
- Miles: Our little bird is all grown up now!
- Eddie: You know better than anyone else what this is capable of.
- Player: Miles!
- Player: The alliance had an immediate effect on them.
- Player: With us attacking from both north and south, their westward expansion was stopped.
- Eddie: Of course!
- Miles: The White Cape followed the agreement signed in Westhold.
- Miles: They freed all the Gyee they captured, and stopped arresting them.
- Eddie: After all, we did it first.
- Eddie: We gave up all the strongholds and posts north of the Never Isle-Crossport line.
- Eddie: And we freed all the spies we caught.
- Miles: Since we rescued our people, the White Cape can take the posts and the strongholds.
- Miles: But...
- Miles: My informant reported in earlier...
- Miles: General Diesel is decidedly not a good man.
- Player: Huh? I thought he was alright.
- Player: General Perth, on the other hand...
- Miles: Perth came from a religious background, and he's a devout Holy Light follower. He was their supreme judge at one point.
- Miles: He got into the military about a year ago, and he reached the post of western commander because of his good reputation.
- Miles: He has a lot of blood of our people on his hands, but most of his actions were just carrying out orders, so he's not too terrible for a White Cape.
- Miles: But Diesel...
- Eddie: He came from a farming family. He joined the Sword of Light because of an attack from the Shadowcultists.
- Eddie: He was a guard for the local officer, and made his way to squad leader.
- Eddie: And then he became a captain after turning in his old boss for corruption.
- Player: ...
- Eddie: And then he became part of the clergy. He planned and participated in many of the bloodshed...
- Eddie: He has killed a lot of Gyee and humans alike.
- Eddie: After many promotions, he's now the main strategist of the White Cape.
- Eddie: Some say that he is backed by the White Cape's commander in chief.
- Player: !!
- Miles: Not bad.
- Miles: I see you did your homework.
- Miles: That means no matter how friendly they might be to us...
- Miles: We have to be vigilant at all times.
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: I have informants that I can fully trust.
- Eddie: The way I see it, since we signed a truce...
- Eddie: We should not dwell on the past for now.
- Eddie: If we keep doubting each other...
- Eddie: The Shadows will win.
- Player: Eddie's right, but...
- Player: Doesn't hurt to keep that in the back of your mind.
- Miles: I will never trust the White Cape.
- Someone runs up to Eddie and whispers a message in his ear
- Order of Equality Director: (Mumbles something)
- Eddie: (sad)
- Eddie: I see. Go back first.
- The Order of Equality Director leaves
- Player: What happened?
- Eddie: It's Never Isle. Some civilians and warriors aren't too happy about the way things are, and they're protesting in the Arcana Plaza.
- Player: After all, we're in a truce with the White Cape, AND we're working with them...
- Player: It's hard to please everyone.
- Player: Thank you for comforting the civilians during such times.
- Eddie: It's my job.
- Miles: ...
- Miles: Let me know when you're returning to Never Isle.
- Eddie: I can soothe the protesters by myself.
- Miles: Who said anything about helping you?
- Miles: There's something I need to take care of back at the Oathblades' base.
- A Never Isle warrior comes
- Never Isle Warrior: Miles, Eddie, Player...
- Never Isle Warrior: The meeting is about to start.
- Eddie: We'll be there soon.
- Moments later, alliance strategy meeting...
- General Will, Markus and the White Cape generals Perth and Diesel address the Never Isle and White Cape warriors
- Will: We're off to a good start after several days of battle!
- Will: We defeated the Shadows stationed here and managed to establish a forward base.
- Will: With this base, the Shadows will not be able to invade Crossport and Never Isle.
- Will: Our people can finally sleep at night.
- General Perth: But this is just the beginning!
- General Perth: The alliance's main troops are on their way here.
- General Perth: We will use this base as a stepping stone to push eastward.
- General Perth: One step at a time, until we reach the Shadows' base!
- Markus: Don't let your guard down!
- Markus: Your superiors will let you know the details later.
- Markus: Victory belongs to Luxium!
- People: Victory belongs to Luxium!
- And then...
- The alliance pushed forward steadily and took back a lot of land from the Shadows.
- The Shadows tried to organize several attacks to no avail...
- The alliance is getting ready to drive out the Shadows occupying the Ruins of Azria.
- But then...
- Southwest commercial port, Crossport...
- Civilians are working at the port when some homemade bombs go off
- Four furry Gyee block any escape routes
- Furry Gyee: White Cape! What you've done, the sins you've committed...
- Furry Gyee: Can only be repaid in blood!
- Furry Gyee: Die!
- Continue to Trifle - Old Hatred, New Grudge
Old Hatred, New Grudge
An agreement is all that's stopping decades of anger and vengeance...
- Nighttime on Never Isle....
- Miles: Watch out!
- Eddie: !!
- Miles: Hey, you!
- Miles confronts the angry mob that ganged up on Eddie
- Miles: Why are you throwing bricks?
- Angry Citizens: Oh... Sorry...
- Angry Citizens: We're just...
- Miles: You're angry, anxious and restless. I'm the same.
- Miles: But Never Isle cannot live under gunfire.
- Angry Citizens: ...
- Eddie: The Order of Equality and the Oathblades always put the Gyee first.
- Eddie: Things are going well on the front line. Your lives will be back to normal soon!
- Eddie: Please try to stay calm.
- Angry Citizens: Have faith in the warriors of Never Isle! They're out there fighting the Shadows.
- Angry Citizens: We should be thankful that they're protecting us.
- Angry Citizens: Now go home!
- The mob leaves
- Eddie: Phew.
- Miles: You... They're throwing bricks out there. Are you hurt?
- Eddie: Don't worry about me.
- Eddie: Didn't the Oathblades have an operation today? Why are you here?
- Miles: It went well, so I came back early.
- Miles: And then I saw them...
- Eddie: I can understand what they're going through.
- Miles: (angry)
- Miles: Before we get rid of the Shadows in Azria, this will keep happening.
- Miles: I'll help when there are no ongoing operations.
- Eddie: But...
- Miles: The Oathblades protect the Island, too.
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: Just stay out of my way!
- Miles: Tch.
- Player: Miles, Eddie!
- Eddie: Player!
- Player: Something's wrong!
- Player: Go to the Oathblades intel room!
- Miles: Let's go!
- Eddie: What happened?
- Player: Crossport...
- Moments later, Oathblades intelligence room...
- General Perth projects a hologram from Crossport to speak with General Will, Markus, and the rest
- Miles: What?!
- Markus: (surprised)
- Eddie: (surprised)
- Player: Furry Gyee... attacked Crossport?
- Will: Are you sure they were Furry Gyee, General Perth?
- Projection of General Perth: Do you think I'm making this up?
- Projection of General Perth: This is betrayal!
- Projection of General Perth: Unforgivable!
- Markus: Please calm down, General Perth.
- Projection of General Perth: Forty two Crossport civilians and fifteen Sword of Light warriors dead!
- Projection of General Perth: Hundreds of witnesses!
- Projection of General Perth: How can I be calm?
- Will: ...
- Will: General Perth, I can guarantee...
- Will: That this was not an operation from Never Isle.
- Projection of General Perth: Just like that?
- Will: If you need help, Never Isle will do everything we can.
- Markus: General Perth, according to the Westhold agreement, we're temporarily working together.
- Markus: But Never Isle troops are not allowed to go within several kilometers of Crossport, let alone entering Crossport.
- Markus: The allied operations all started at the forward based at the entrance to Lake Bliss.
- Markus: I don't want to say this, but...
- Markus: Never Isle doesn't have the kind of power to launch an attack on Crossport.
- Projection of General Perth: ...
- Will: The alliance operations are going well, and the Shadows must be anxious.
- Will: I suspect this ambush was organized by the Shadows.
- Will: They want to incite hatred to break us apart.
- Projection of General Perth: Alright...
- Projection of General Perth: These are just speculations! The people will not settle for guesses!
- Projection of General Perth: In that case...
- Projection of General Perth: I will bring the details of the attack to the forward base tomorrow.
- Projection of General Perth: You know the Gyee better than us, and you should be able to help.
- Will: Never Isle will do everything for Luxium.
- General Perth's hologram blinks out
- A few moments later...
- Markus: What do you think of the attack on Crossport?
- Player: According to General Perth...
- Player: The Furry Gyee attacked the civilian port at night, when it was most lively.
- Player: Why the Furry Gyee? Why at that time? And why the civilian port?
- Player: So that everyone in Crossport could see that the attackers were Gyee.
- Player: Clearly, this was the Shadows' idea!
- Markus: Too obvious!
- Markus: Even the White Cape can see this, can't they?
- Eddie: What an evil plan...
- Eddie: And the informants say that the people at Crossport are not too happy about this alliance, either.
- Eddie: The White Cape might be under more pressure now that this happened.
- Miles: But how did those Furry Gyee get around the Crossport defense?
- Miles: If they were Shadows, why didn't the detectors at Crossport catch them?
- Player: What if angry citizens dressed up as merchants to Crossport, then attacked them?
- Will: That's almost impossible.
- Eddie: The attacks were carried out very quickly. They left before the White Cape could react.
- Eddie: And vanished without a trace.
- Eddie: This must have been meticulously planned. How could angry citizens pull this off?
- Will: We should investigate internally first to make sure it wasn't any of our people.
- Eddie: Yes, sir!
- Next day, Vanguard base of the Never Isle Crossport alliance...
- Alliance strategy meeting...
- Markus, General Will and General Diesel from the White Cape address Player, Eddie (wearing Sky's Wings), Miles, Brian and their combined troops
- General Diesel: I'm sure you heard about what happened at Crossport last night.
- General Diesel: The Sword of Light has launched an investigation.
- General Diesel: Based on what we know so far, it was carried out by Shadow spies.
- General Diesel: They're trying to break apart our alliance with Never Isle.
- General Diesel: This means that our operations are a real threat to them.
- General Diesel: So we will carry out our plans as usual...
- General Diesel: Keep pushing westward to destroy and occupy the Shadows' base at where upper Elysian River meets the middle section.
- General Diesel: And we will use that location to prepare for the final push to attack the Shadows' base.
- Markus: In one hour, we will march from here.
- Markus: Once we have the beachhead, we're not far from the final victory!
- After the meeting...
- General Diesel: (Takes out a stack of documents)
- General Diesel: Here's a copy of the report from the attack. General Perth asked me to give it to you.
- Will: (Takes the report)
- Will: Here are the assignments and operation records of Never Isle warriors from the past two days.
- Will: I believe this proves that Never Isle had nothing to do with the attack yesterday.
- Will: Thank you for listening to reason during this critical time.
- Will: And convincing the Sword of Light warriors to stick to the plan.
- General Diesel: Personally, I believe you one-hundred percent, but...
- General Diesel: We're working together right now, and the Shadows are our common enemy.
- General Diesel: If we start doubting one another, then the Shadows win.
- Will: I'm glad that General Diesel is so reasonable.
- Eddie: Where is General Perth?
- General Diesel: He...
- General Diesel: He's not happy about what happened yesterday. And he has a thing or two to say about the Furry Gyee...
- General Diesel: Today's battle is very important, please don't let these things distract you.
- Eddie: ...
- General Diesel leaves
- Eddie: (sad)
- Player: What's wrong, Eddie?
- Eddie: I'm worried...
- Eddie: It took a lot of work to sign the Westhold agreement...
- Eddie: And it took a lot of work to earn the chance for the humans of Luxium to know about the Gyee...
- Eddie: I don't want the Shadows to destroy what we've worked so hard to achieve.
- Miles: ...
- Eddie: They didn't say it, but I think General Perth is suspicious.
- Markus: Don't think about it anymore. What happened already happened.
- Markus: They're not stupid, and they know what's at stake.
- Player: (Taps Eddie on the shoulder)
- Player: Once we work with the White Cape to get rid of the Shadows at the Ruins of Azria...
- Player: The doubts and suspicion will go away.
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: Of course!
- Eddie: We still have to fight!
- Miles: ...
- Miles: (angry)
- Will: Get ready and assemble in thirty minutes!
- Some time later, near where upper Elysian River meets middle Elysian River...
- Shadow post...
- Shadow Spider Queen: The humans are coming!
- Shadow Spider Queen: Stay in formation to stall them!
- Shadow Spider Queen: Get the Shadow Cannons ready!
- Shadow Spider Queen: If we can destroy their ships...
- Shadow Spider Queen: Then we can use the Shadow Reaper's blessing to kill them!
- Many Shadow Soldiers bustle around three large cannons
- Shadow Soldier A: Cannons ready!
- Shadow Soldier B: Something's coming from above!
- Shadow Soldier A: Impossible! We haven't detected any ships!
- Artillery begins raining down on their position
- Shadow Soldier A: Whoa...
- Up in the sky is Eddie using Sky's Wings to attack the cannons
- Eddie: Hawk Captain here. The Shadow Cannons have been destroyed.
- Eddie: Stage one complete!
- A few moments later...
- Two messengers run to the Shadow Spider Queen
- Shadow Messenger A: My lord, the cannons...
- Shadow Messenger A: Something flew over and destroyed all the cannons!
- Shadow Messenger B: My lord, human battleships have been spotted!
- Shadow Spider Queen: Dammit...
- Shadow Spider Queen: Cunning humans. But we have more than cannons!
- Shadow Spider Queen: Loyal demons, join the battle and use your Shadow Flux defense to cover the other Shadows!
- Shadow Spider Queen: With Shadow Reaper's blessing, they can't beat us!
- Shadow Demon: But my lord, if we're all on the front line, how about you?
- Shadow Spider Queen: If the defense is breached, we will all die! Now go!
- Shadow Demon: Yes, sir!
- The Shadow disperse
- Shadow Spider Queen: Damn humans...
- Right when the Shadow Spider Queen is defenseless...
- Miles: Oathblades!
- Brian: Sword of Light!
- Shadow Spider Queen: !!
- Alliance Warrior: Charge!
- A few moments later...
- The Shadow Spider Queen lies on the ground
- Miles: Leave no Shadows behind!
- Eddie makes a landing
- Eddie: Nice work, Brian.
- Brian: (Nods)
- Miles: How's our little bird?
- Eddie: Mind your own business.
- Player enters
- Player: Thank goodness you guys are safe!
- Player: It was an overwhelming victory over the Shadows!
- Eddie: Excellent! Now that we have this place...
- Miles: The Shadow base in Azria is next!
- Brian interrupts the short reunion
- Player: Brian.
- Miles: Let's have a drink on the way back.
- Brian: ...
- Player: That look on your face... Something wrong?
- Brian: I just received news...
- Brian: Crossport was attacked again.
- Eddie: What?!
- Eddie: Where? How bad?
- Brian: A church this time.
- Brian: As for casualties...
- Next day, at night, Crossport...
- The attacked church...
- Multiple White Cape guard the ruins of the church
- General Diesel leads three "investigators" to the scene
- General Diesel: Never... Um, the Holy Light investigation...
- General Diesel: This is where the attack happened yesterday.
- General Diesel: If you need anything, talk to my lieutenant. I will leave you to your work.
- General Diesel leaves
- A disguised Player, Eddie and Miles check the scene of the crime for clues
- Player: Gosh...
- Eddie: A worship was taking place when it was attacked.
- Eddie: More than two hundred civilians dead, and many more hurt...
- Player: They said they were from Never Isle, and said the normal humans will pay for what they've done.
- Player: On the evening of the second attack, protests took place in Crossport to oppose Never Isle and the alliance.
- Player: They're gunning for us.
- Miles: The beachhead to attack Azria has been established.
- Miles: The White Cape priests need a few days to analyze the Shadow barrier to prepare magical arrays to fight them.
- Miles: So Diesel and the White Cape officials let us enter Crossport in disguise to investigate.
- Eddie: We need to find out where the attacks are coming from before we go into battle.
- Eddie: If it happens again...
- Player: The Westhold agreement forbids us from entering Crossport, so lay low!
- Miles: Let's get this over with so I can take this cape off!
- A few moments later...
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie continues his investigation when he is interrupted by an Order of Equality director disguised as a White Cape
- Order of Equality Director: Sir!
- Eddie: What's up?
- He delivers his message
- Eddie: Hmm.
- Eddie: Prepare some stuff to soothe him.
- Order of Equality Director: Yes, sir!
- Once the spy leaves, Player and Miles check in
- Player: How is it?
- Eddie: My informant in White Cape sent news that...
- Eddie: Their internal investigation found several Shadowcult spies.
- Eddie: But there are more, so we need to be careful.
- Player: I knew it.
- Eddie: And one more thing...
- Eddie: The informant's parents and brother were killed in the second attack.
- Eddie: And they won't be able to deliver any information for a while.
- Miles: Dammit...
- Miles: I will avenge them! What else did you find out?
- Player: Powerful explosives were placed at the structurally weak locations of the church.
- Player: Military-level explosive, too.
- Eddie: When compared to the Furry Gyee's flux spectrum...
- Eddie: The flux residue here is over 90% similar. That means a fair number of them were here.
- Eddie: But no Shadow flux residue was found.
- Miles: The claw marks from the ruins are a match to the ones from the victims.
- Miles: The Furry Gyee haven't had any military training.
- Miles: They were acting like beasts.
- Player: This is strange...
- Player: Meticulous planning and military-grade explosive, but no military training?
- Miles: The bombs might have been provided by their spies in White Cape.
- Miles: But how did they evade the guards, enter Crossport and arrive at the church?
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: Portal array!
- Miles: But if they initiate a Shadow portal array, the sensors of the city would have found it.
- Eddie: Not a Shadow portal.
- Eddie: The portal arrays take a large amount of flux, and only a number of Arcana Masters could master such complicated arrays.
- Eddie: So it hasn't been used amongst civilians.
- Player: What you're saying is...
- Player: They entered Crossport through a portal array, then arrived at the attack site through the sewers.
- Eddie: And most portal arrays require a lot of space...
- Miles: Get our people!
- Miles: I'm going to get a map of the sewers from Diesel's lieutenant.
- Crossport, underground...
- Still in disguise, Player, Eddie and Miles investigate the sewers
- Player: There aren't a lot of underground spaces in Crossport that can accommodate a large array.
- Player: If we check each and every one of them...
- ???: Who are you?
- Four "White Cape soldiers" intercepts them
- Eddie: We're the special investigation team on the Furry Gyee attacks.
- Eddie: We're investigating in the name of Holy Light. Please, if you will...
- White Cape Soldier: Kill them!
- Eddie: !!
- Miles: Great! The prey has come to us!
- White Cape Soldier: Whoa!!!
- The three take out the soldiers
- A few moments later...
- Furry Gyee: Arooo...
- Player, Eddie and Miles ambush a large group of Furry Gyee
- Furry Gyee: Huhn!
- Eddie: !!
- Miles: Jackpot!
- Furry Gyee: Roar!
- One of the Furry Gyee attacks but Player knocks him out first
- Player: They have weapons, but they look like they want to tear us apart with their teeth...
- Eddie: Something looks wrong! They can't communicate!
- Miles: The numbers... Looks like they were organizing a third attack and we spotted them.
- Miles: Come on!
- The remaining Furry Gyee start running deeper into the sewers
- Player: Oh?
- Eddie: Go after them!
- The three chase the Furry Gyees to a large portal
- Player: They're running away!
- Miles: Just few more ! Get one alive!
- Furry Gyee: Roar!
- The portal closes before they can all get away, leaving four behind
- Miles, Eddie and Player manage to capture three of the remaining Furry Gyee
- Miles: Did we get all the Furry Gyee?
- Eddie: I think we're missing one...
- Player: What?
- An Oathblades warrior dressed as a White Cape comes to deliver a message to Miles
- Oathblades Warrior: One of the warriors above reported that a Furry Gyee ran into the city!
- Miles: Ugh...
- Eddie: Bring these back for questioning!
- Eddie: Let's go after that one!
- Meanwhile...
- Panicked Spectators: The yellow eye is killing people!
- Panicked Spectators: Help!
- Furry Gyee: Revenge! Mundanes... must... pay...
- Eddie: Get him!
- Miles, Eddie and Player find the last Furry Gyee but not before a large, angry mob gathers
- Panicked Spectators: Kill the yellow eye!
- Panicked Spectators: Kill the Furry!
- Eddie: This is an important suspect of the attack, and we need to bring him back for questioning.
- Eddie: Please let us through.
- Miles: Take him away now!
- Miles: (Whispers) Gather them in the sewers before the White Cape arrives.
- Miles: (Whispers) Let me question then first!
- Player: Sure.
- Eddie: Go notify Diesel that we've stopped the third attack.
- Order of Equality Member: Yes, sir!
- Miles: Get out of the way! Holy Light coming through!
- Miles, Eddie and Player lead the Furry Gyee through the streets of Crossport but they're stopped by the White Cape
- White Cape Soldier: Don't move!
- Player: !!
- White Cape Soldier: The Sword of Light's court is not this way.
- White Cape Soldier: Those of you from the 'investigation...'
- Miles: Ugh...
- Eddie: We're under command from General...
- White Cape Soldier: Stop!
- White Cape Soldier: The Sword of Light does not have an ongoing investigation.
- White Cape Soldier: Who are you?
- Miles: Out of the way! You haven't heard of it because your clearance level is too low.
- Miles: We're in charge of transporting the suspects from the church attack.
- Miles: If we're late because of you...
- Miles: Will you take the responsibility?
- White Cape Soldier: Ugh...
- Furry Gyee: Grrr... Revenge...
- Suddenly, the Furry Gyee collapses then disappears
- Player: Well!!
- Eddie: How come?
- White Cape Soldier: The yellow eye...
- White Cape Soldier: He's gone!
- White Cape Warlock: Sir, our yellow-eye artifact is still on.
- White Cape Warlock: These people...
- White Cape Soldier: Are yellow-eyes!
- White Cape Soldier: Stop! We need to check you!
- White Cape Soldier: Requesting support! We found yellow eyes that entered illegally!
- Player: We're getting exposed...
- Eddie: What do we do? According to the regulations, we're not supposed to be here...
- Miles: (Starts the Communication Crystal)
- Miles: This is Miles...
- Miles: Try to get out of Crossport immediately and return to the forward base at Lake Bliss.
- Miles: The Furry Gyee disappeared! My command!
- More White Cape soldiers arrive
- Miles: They're leaving...
- Player: What do we do?
- Eddie: We're working together, there's not much they can really do.
- Player: But Eddie is the representative from Westhold. What if he's exposed?
- Miles: ...
- Miles: I have an idea.
- Eddie: What are you going to do?
- Miles: Just follow me.
- Player: ?
- Miles takes off his disguise
- White Cape Soldier: You're... Miles? From Oathblades?
- Miles: Oh, I see you know who I am.
- Spectators: Oathblades? Why is someone from Never Isle here?
- Spectators: The Furry monster is gone!
- Spectators: Did the Oathblades let them go?
- Miles points his gun at Eddie.
- Eddie: !!
- Miles: If you know me, then don't move!
- White Cape Soldier: Are you violating the Westhold agreement?
- Miles: I don't care!
- Miles: Take me to your superior!
- Player: We're working with Never Isle right now!
- Player: Don't do anything stupid!
- Player: I'll go get the General!
- Player runs to get help
- Eddie: (Whispers) Miles, what are you doing?
- Miles: (Whispers) I thought you want to clear the misunderstanding between humans and Gyee!
- Eddie: (Whispers) But...
- Miles: (Whispers) The White Cape know that I'm reckless.
- Miles: (Whispers) And Never Isle needs you to be the clean one!
- After some time...
- Brian: This is Brian from the Sword of Light's western troops!
- Brian: I will be taking over on behalf of the Sword of Light high command!
- Miles was found in Crossport...
- The Oathblades had to apologize publicly, and penalized Miles... for show, of course.
- But we did stop another Furry Gyee attack.
- And for that, the White Cape is grateful for Never Isle's help.
- It was not perfect, but the Shadows' plan to break the alliance apart failed.
- Several days later, their priests completed the analysis on the barrier.
- And the horn for the final showdown has been sounded.
- Central Luxium, several kilometers east of Ruins of Azria...
- Miles: Oathblades, charge!
- A few moments later...
- Miles: This is Miles, we've taken the first point.
- Miles: The priests of W... Sword of Light can come in now.
- White Cape Captain: Priests, get ready for the anti-barrier array!
- White Cape Captain: Everyone else, protect the priests at all costs!
- Miles: Hey, I've never seen you before.
- Miles: I thought Brian was supposed be here.
- White Cape Captain: An order from General Diesel. Brian and his troops are now with the Hawk squad.
- Miles: ...
- Miles: I see...
- Miles: We'll take east, and you take west. Will that work?
- White Cape Captain: Sure.
- Miles: Get the construction going! The Shadows are coming soon!
- Oathblades Warrior: Yes, sir!
- White Cape Captain: ...
- Moments before...
- A large attack from the sky takes out multiple Shadow
- Player: Kill the Shadows!
- Player leading Never Isle warriors and Brian leading White Cape soldiers engage the surviving Shadow
- Light of Purity Warrior: Go!
- Eddie: Keep attacking! Don't give them any chance to regroup!
- A few moments later...
- Eddie: Hawk captain here. We have the second point.
- Eddie: The plan may continue!
- Brian: Get the defenses ready and cover the priests when they take down the barrier!
- White Cape Soldier: Yes, sir!
- A few moments later...
- Player: We have all twelve points. The priests are getting ready to tear down the barrier!
- Brian: We just have to defend these spots!
- Eddie: I'll scout from above.
- Player: Don't fly too high, their cannons will spot you.
- Eddie: Don't worry!
- Eddie flies up to the sky
- Eddie: !!
- Eddie: Enhanced Shadows are coming!
- Brian: Sword of Light, get ready!
- A few moments later...
- Everyone battles the enhanced Shadow monsters to defend their position
- Player: Huff, puff...
- Light of Purity Warrior: Rrragh!
- Eddie: The arrays are almost ready! Just a little longer!
- White Cape Soldier: Die, Shadows!
- Player: For Never Isle! For the humans!
- Brian: For Sword of Light! For the humans!
- People: Die!
- The White Cape priests concentrate on removing the Shadows' barrier
- Holy Light Priest: Just a little more...
- Holy Light Priest: The last flux layout...
- Holy Light Priest: This is it!
- The Shadow barrier collapses
- Shadow Demon: The barrier!
- Eddie: The barrier is down! Time for revenge!
- Eddie: Take them and their cannons down!
- Player: Ahhhhh!!!
- A few moments later...
- The warriors fought valiantly...
- And took down all of the Shadow Cannons.
- The fleet from Never Isle and Crossport entered the zone and fired on the fleeing Shadows.
- Player and Eddie stand next to what is left of the Shadows' cannons
- Eddie: (Saluting the ships above)
- Player: It doesn't matter if it's a Shadow Reaper, as long as the main ships are here...
- Player: They'll all be blasted to smithereens.
- Eddie: We will not let the Shadows defile Azria!
- Brian comes
- Brian: Congratulations.
- Eddie: (smiles)
- Eddie: The victory belongs to Never Isle, and the Sword of Light...
- Eddie: And to everyone that participated!
- Eddie: It symbolizes the beginning of a new era...
- Eddie: (You extend your right hand...)
- Brian: ...
- Brian: (Holding Eddie's hand...)
- Brian: To the humans, to the Gyee...
- Brian: A new era for everyone in Luxium.
- A large explosion interrupts their handshake
- Player: Look!
- Brian: That's our ship, the Divine Blade...
- Eddie: They shot it down?!
- Suddenly, you get a splitting headache...
- Player: My head!
- Eddie: It hurts...
- Brian: I feel like it's going to burst!
- ???: You didn't think you won, did you?
- ???: Puny mortals... I will crush your hope with my hand!
- The ominous voice disappears as the Divine Blade crashes to the ground
- Player: Whoa!
- Eddie: No!
- The proud human battleship dives downward...
- Toward the ground...
- Everyone's communication crystal goes off.
- Command Communication: This is high command. Retreat!
- Command Communication: The third Shadow Reaper is devouring our troops! We lost half of our ships, and the barrier is coming back. Retreat!
- Player: !!
- Eddie: How did this happen?
- Brian: Shadows!
- Player: Go! The barriers are coming back! Don't get trapped in it!
- Player: Run! Run!
- Eddie: Retreat!
- A while later, at the third retreat point...
- Player and Eddie make it out
- A group of Oathblades and White Cape also managed to make it to the retreat point
- Player: Huff, puff...
- Player: That was close!
- Eddie: ...
- Eddie: (sad)
- An Oathblades Captain notices Eddie
- Oathblades Captain: Can you reach Miles?
- Eddie: Miles? What happened?
- Oathblades Captain: We lost communication with them a while back.
- Oathblades Captain: We thought a powerful Shadow blocked the communication...
- Oathblades Captain: But we still can't reach him.
- Oathblades Captain: Did you see him during your retreat?
- Player: No...
- Eddie: Something's wrong!
- Eddie: I'll go find him!
- Eddie blasts off
- Player: Wait, I'll go!
- Player starts running
- Moments later, Wolf Squad's retreat route...
- Player and Eddie run into a group of escaping White Cape
- Eddie: Did you see Miles? He had a wolf with him.
- White Cape Soldier: No...
- White Cape Soldier: We saw other Oathblades, but not one with a wolf.
- Eddie: Ugh...
- Eddie takes off again
- Player: ...
- Player: Eddie, wait!
- You keep searching along the route, but no one, White Cape, Oathblades, or Light of Purity, has seen Miles.
- Until we saw the remains of a Shadow Cannon...
- Player: And some White Cape warriors...
- Player: They seem to be waiting for someone.
- Player and Eddie talk to one of the White Cape
- Player: You...
- White Cape Soldier: Don't scare me like that!
- Eddie: Have you seen Miles? Gray hair, strong, with a wolf, and looking menacing.
- White Cape Soldier: Miles?!
- Player: You saw him...
- White Cape Soldier: We encountered an enhanced Shadow...
- White Cape Soldier: He was covering our retreat.
- White Cape Soldier: We're waiting for him.
- Eddie: Encountered a Shadow?
- Eddie: I'll go help him!
- Eddie jets up
- White Cape Soldier: Hold on...
- White Cape Soldier: Shoot him down, musketeer!
- The White Cape musketeers take aim
- Player: What are you doing?
- Moments before...
- A large group of White Cape corner an injured Miles and Grey to the edge of a cliff
- Miles: Ugh... (spitting blood)
- Miles: You bastards!
- Miles: I'm going to kill you!
- White Cape Soldier: Your people are dead!
- White Cape Soldier: There are hundreds of us!
- Miles: Cough... Cough...
- Miles: Why?
- White Cape Soldier: Why?
- White Cape Soldier: My brother! My parents! My family!
- Miles: You... You're the informant...
- White Cape Soldier: I thought you yellow eyes are real humans...
- White Cape Soldier: But...
- White Cape Soldier: ...
- White Cape Soldier: They were just ordinary Kaism Disciples! Why did you kill them?
- Miles: We didn't do it!
- Miles: Shadows did!
- White Cape Soldier: Still lying, huh?
- White Cape Soldier: I saw you let the yellow eye go!
- White Cape Soldier: You colluded with the senior Sword of Light members to keep this a secret and 'maintain the stability of the alliance army!'
- White Cape Soldier: But my family died for that!
- White Cape Soldier: You killed them! I want revenge!
- Eddie: Miles!
- Eddie spots Miles from the sky
- White Cape Soldier: For the Crossport civilians and warriors that died in vain!
- White Cape Soldier: You'll pay for this! Damned yellow eye!
- White Cape musketeers take aim and fire at Miles
- Grey: Roar!
- Miles: Grey!
- Eddie: Miles!
- Grey jumps up and covers Miles.
- The impact from the shot pushes both of them off the cliff.
- Eddie: No!
- A few moments later...
- Player stands in front of a large field of fallen White Cape
- Player: (angry)
- Light of Purity Warrior: That's Player!
- Will: Player, what happened? Where's Eddie?
- Player: The White Cape betrayed us.
- Player: Miles was hurt and fell off a cliff...
- Player: The cliff was very high, and the water below was turbulent. We didn't find him...
- General Will looks around
- Will: ...
- Will: Where's Eddie?
- Player: We managed to get out before the barrier fully formed again, and caught a few White Cape warriors.
- Player: Eddie beat them to a pulp, but no one talked.
- Player: So he killed them all...
- Player: And went down to the river...
- Player: To find Miles.
- The howling of an eagle echoes through the forest.
- But...
- No wolves responded.
