Chang - Chief of the Cannye Shelter.

His Fire Talents excel at offense and defense. He seems to maintain a degree of separation from Yang.

As passionate as the flames and protector of the Cannyes

Intro[]

Chang didn't stay on Never Isle after graduating from its Arcane Academy but chose to become a protector of Cannyes.

The small, agile Cannye are seen by prejudiced humans as 'dog demons' when they're actually just unusual creatures. Cannyes have a nose for treasure and are able to track any that's near by scent, therefore some Cannyes resorted to pilfering for a living. Some humans have a deep-seated hatred for Cannyes and often lynch their forest dwellings and hang them from trees.

Albeit a Gyee, Chang's Furry appearance is practically that of a super-sized Cannye. He empathized with the race so he started funding a shelter for homeless Cannyes near Elysiann and looked after them like a mother.

In a situation similar to the Order of Equality and Oathblades, a Gyee named Yang has gathered Cannyes dead set on revenge against the humans. While Yang doesn't believe in an eye for an eye, Yang has solved a lot of problems for him, so they maintain an on/off relationship.

There are more and more Little Cannyes in the shelter, and I've been busy and tired all these days... But it's also my greatest joy to watch them growing up day by day!

How about you? Pay me a visit when you are free, okay? I always want to introduce you to the kids! I can also make some barbecue with my Arcana fire!

Intimacy Breakthrough[]

This section contains spoilers for Intimacy Breakthrough scenes.

-Intimacy Level 4
Chang: Wow! So many gifts!
Chang: Thank you very much!

-Intimacy Level 5
Chang: I still haven't used up the stuff you gave me last time.
Chang: And you've already given me more!
Chang: I can take them back and give them to the little Cannyes.
Chang: If there's anything you need from me, just come find me.

-Intimacy Level 6
Chang: The little Cannyes all love the gifts you sent!
Chang: Thank you!
Chang: If you get the time, you should come hang out at the sanctuary!
Chang: Everyone would be thrilled to see you!

-Intimacy Level 7
Chang: Yang sent a cart full of eggs to the sanctuary...
Chang: These days, I give the little ones boiled eggs for breakfast every morning.
Chang: There's still over half a cart of eggs left, and the little ones are already tired of eating them.
Chang: Eggs don't keep for very long. If they don't like them, they're all going to go to waste!
Player: It is really easy to get tired of eating boiled eggs!
Player: Perhaps you could try making them a different way...
Player: You can steam them, boil them, fry them, scramble them, poach them, pickle them. Change up how you cook them.
Player: Oh yeah, have you tried love eggs?
Player: It's said that after eating one of these eggs, you'll be fully of energy. Everyone likes to eat them two at a time.
Chang: I've heard of them, but I've never tried them myself.
Player: I see... So let's go try them!
Scene transition
Player: What do you think?
Chang: As soon as I ate it, I could feel the energy and vitality of the love eggs.
Chang: No wonder you said people like to eat them two at a time. They're scrumptious.
Player: Haha. Well, learn how to make them. The Cannye in the sanctuary will love them.
Chang: Yes, I've taken a look at the Cooking Guidebook.
Chang: Love eggs are easy to make.
Chang: When you're frying the eggs, you only fry one side.
Chang: When they're a little cooked, turn off the heat and put some Flux into the yolk.
Chang: Then you use arcana to bake them till they're done, and they're ready to come out of the pan.
Player: Why do you turn off the heat and switch to arcana?
Chang: Because you need to use arcana to properly mix the flux in the yolk with the egg itself.
Chang: It's difficult to precisely control the distribution of the flux using heat. It's very easy to break the egg's vitality.
Player: Ah, I see.
Player: Seems like a bright student of the Arcane Academy such as yourself is well-suited to cooking love eggs.
Chang: Why don't you come to the kitchen with me?
Chang: I'll make some for you.

-Intimacy Level 8
Chang: The Cannye race do not have a home. They wander all over the world.
Chang: When they try to settle down and live peacefully, the nearby humans always drive them away.
Chang: Once, when I was a student, I encountered a small Cannye dying in the woods.
Chang: I used all the medical knowledge I had at my disposal, but was still unable to save him.
Chang: So after I graduated from the Arcane Academy, I set up the refuge and took in all the little homeless Cannyes.
Chang: Aside from all the generous donations from kind people, we also have our own business that we use to guarantee our livelihood.
Chang: Come! Try out our homegrown creamy grapes!
Chang: How are they? Delicious, right?
Chang: We'll have more for you next time.

-Intimacy Level 9
Chang: Yang's gang has been up to no good lately.
Chang: They've stolen a lot of stuff, and sent some of it here.
Chang: Can I accept these stolen goods with a clean conscience?
Chang: Yeah...
Chang: I'm not so obsessive about having a clean conscience.
Chang: As long as the young Cannyes can have a good life, that's enough for me.
Chang: As far as Yang's gang... Just as long as they stay safe.
Chang: It would be better if they could give up their outlaw lifestyle and conduct honest business.
Chang: But would normal humans be willing to do business with Cannyes?
Chang: Both sides need to be more tolerant and understanding.
Chang is lost in thought.

-Intimacy Level 10
Chang: Always staying in beast form has its disadvantages.
Chang: But you get used to it!
Chang: The main thing is making sure the Cannyes feel safe.
Chang: The big furry ones and the little furry ones are gathered together. (Smiles)
Chang: Don't worry. They all like you.
Chang: After all, you always have lots of candy to give them.
Chang: I can't help but steal a few for myself.
Chang: But I need to eat less. I absolutely must have my abs. Puff...

-Intimacy Level 11
Chang is lying on the sickbed while Yang and the Kaist doctor sit at his side tending to his needs.
Yang: You're saying this is just a little chill?
Yang: That's impossible! Have you ever seen someone get this sick catching a little chill?
Kaism Doctor: He was already overly exhausted. His body was spent. With his health in such poor condition...
Kaism Doctor: Once he caught the chill, his whole body collapsed with a bang, like a landslide...
Yang: ...Humph. Then can you treat him?
Kaism Doctor: I can treat the chill, but his body needs a long time to convalesce.
Kaism Doctor: For the next five months, he cannot work too hard. He also must not catch a cold, otherwise he'll not only get sick...
Kaism Doctor: His body might also develop some chronic ailments.
Chang: N... No... The ch... The children...
Yang: Shut up!
Yang: Didn't you hear what the doctor said? Do you want to die?!
Chang: I...
Yang: Shut up and get your rest!
Yang: You're gonna die and then make me take care of the kids?!
Yang: Would you rest easy knowing I was the one taking care of them?!
Yang: If you don't want these kids running around stealing things with me, then be a good boy, shut your mouth, and get better!
Chang: ...
Yang: Humph. That's better.
Yang: Doc, aside from not working too hard, what else should we look out for?
Kaism Doctor: If you could get some tonics to nurse him back to health and help him recover more quickly, that would be for the best.
Yang: Uh... Tonics... Do you know where I could steal some tonics?
Player: Huh? You're asking me?
Yang: Why wouldn't I?
Yang: This clergyman knows I'm a thief. It's not like he's going to tell me.
Player: I've got some Dragon Mountain Snow Ginseng. Would that be sufficient?
Yang: Dragon Mountain Snow Ginseng? That's some good stuff. Where'd you get that?
Player: I took it off the body of some Shadow Chief.
Kaism Doctor: If you've really got some of that ginseng, then he'll only need 2-3 months to recover.
Yang: Are you sure it's Dragon Mountain Snow Ginseng? Take it out and let the doctor make sure.
You took out the ginseng.
Kaism Doctor: ... Wow. This is top-notch Dragon Mountain Snow Ginseng. There's no way it's fake.
Kaism Doctor: I'm going to process this ginseng. Make sure he follows the prescription...
Kaism Doctor: He may not need two months. If his body gets better and absorbs the ginseng medicine without any issues...
Kaism Doctor: He'll only need a month to be good as new!
Chang: ...Th...Thank you...
Yang: Shut up and rest!
Player: Yeah, get your rest. Anyway, I pilfered the ginseng so there's no need to thank me!
Yang: Hey, a pilfered treasure is still a treasure.
Yang: I'm not someone who takes advantage of others.
Yang: Once he's recovered, I'm gonna take you to my storehouse.
Yang: There's all kinds of things in there. You can take whatever you want!
Player: Uh... Isn't the stuff in your treasury more valuable?
Yang: What, you think I don't appreciate your gesture enough?
Player: N-no...
Yang: Fine. You can take some of the more expensive stuff. It's settled.
Player: Oh... All right. Thank you!
Yang: You rest, Chang.
Yang: Doug, call a few guys over. I need their help...
Doug: Yes, boss! What do you want to do?
Yang: Wash bowls! Scrub plates!
Yang: Being the chief of a shelter is a lot harder than being the boss of a gang!
Yang: This old guy's must have a couple screws loose, opening up a shelter!
Yang left in a huff.
A week later, Chang was gradually recovering.
Scene transition
Player: You've finished your physical training for the day!
Player: How do you feel?
Chang: Thanks to your ginseng, I feel a lot better.
Player: You can't be so hard on yourself in the future. The children are important, but your body is important, too.
Chang: Yeah, this illness has really taught me a lesson. I've done a lot of thinking.
Chang: What Yang said made some sense. He said... I've gone down a path there's no coming back from.
Player: ... a path there's no coming back from?
Chang: More and more Cannye are coming here.
Chang: There's more and more things to look after every day, and I can never get a day's rest.
Chang: And the quality of life for the Cannyes is getting worse.
Chang: There's nothing I can do. I don't have any money, and there's not enough manpower to help out.
Chang: Clearly, the situation can't go on like this, but I don't have the heart to turn away Cannye...
Chang: I also can't stop or look back. I can't just abandon all those Cannye.
Chang: The reason I have these troubles isn't because I don't love them.
Chang: But when all is said and done, love isn't enough to get us through all the world's troubles.
Player: I understand. This is quite the pickle...
Player: It's just like you said, there's no way forward and there's no way back.
Player: But at the same time, you can't find a third way.
Chang: You don't need to worry about it too much. I'll think of a way.
Chang: It's just that sometimes I like a hug, that's all.
Chang: I'm just the kind of person that likes to find someone to talk to when he's got something on his mind.
Chang: I can't tell the children, because then they'll feel guilty, and they might leave like Changlu did.
Chang: Oh, and I can't tell Yang, either...
Chang: If he heard me talking like this, he'd send someone over to the sanctuary to tear it down.
Chang: And then he'd take all the Cannye out robbing...
Player: Haha, then you definitely can't tell him!
Chang: Yeah, I'm just getting things off my chest.
Chang: You don't need to put all this in your heart, and please don't let me burden you!
Player: This isn't a burden. It can't be easy having so much on your chest and not being able to tell anyone about it.
Player: But...I don't want to be a complainer.
Player: Even though you can't think of a solution to your problems right now, you will eventually!
Chang: Thank you. Actually it's no big problem. You were willing to listen, so I'm happy already.
Chang: It's getting late. Let's go back.
Player: Ok.

-Intimacy Level 12
Chang: I don't like it when it rains...
Chang: There's no sunlight, and everything gets wet.
Chang: There's nothing I hate more than when my fur gets wet.
Chang: It all gets matted down and loses its fluffiness!
Chang: And I get cold...
Chang: I want a blanket. Or...
Chang: A warm hug...
Chang: Can you give me one?

-Intimacy Level 13
Chang: Do you want to lie down together and look at the moon?
Chang: That big, round moon.
Chang: Looks delicious!
Chang: If only everything was like the moon, round and full, that would be perfect.
Chang: The innocent Cannye, the innocent Gyee... they've all suffered so much injustice.
Chang: ...
Chang: Thankfully, you, everyone on Never Isle, and many, many others are all working toward eliminating these injustices.
Chang: The moon also waxes and wanes. Perhaps this perfect state can't last forever.
Chang: But what's important is that we all experience these things, and get closer to that perfect state.
Chang: Thank you. Sincerely.

Dates[]

Kindness

-Intro
Chang: Can you come to the shelter? Need your expertise for something.
Player: Yes.
Scene transition
Chang: Yang send men to deliver a huge cartload of bones to the shelter.
Chang: I didn't want it, but before I could send it back,
Chang: the children in the shelter swarmed the cart and cleaned it out.
Chang: I couldn't bear to take it away from them.
Chang: Now, though, we owe him another favor.
Chang: He does this often enough for me to feel indebited.

-Too much loot for him to stash. - 500 Intimacy
Chang: Maybe.
Chang: I'm just afraid that he'd keep robbing for us.
Chang: That's not right, and too... risky.
Chang: Accepting his loot only encourages him more,
Chang: thus I must avoid support from him as much as possible.
Chang: Everything he sends has to go right back.
Chang: Thanks for your thoughts.

-He's looking to recruit the kids. - 700 Intimacy
Chang: Probably not.
Chang: Yang never said he'd recruit from the shelter,
Chang: though there were always young Cannyes itching to join him.
Chang: Because of me,
Chang: Yang would always turn them down.
Chang: Anyway, I have to keep the kids' contact with him to minimum,
Chang: Everything he sends has to go right back.
Chang: Thanks for your thoughts.

-He wants to be nice to you. - 900 Intimacy
Chang: Is that so?
Chang: He'd be wrong in that case.
Chang: I could care less what he sends me.
Chang: The nicer he is toward me, the worse I feel.
Chang: Frankly, even though that might sound harsh,
Chang: I know where he meant well.
Chang: But he got all these from risky propositions,
Chang: so I can't accept it in good conscience.
Chang: Everything he sends has to go right back.
Chang: I'll try to raise the kids in the shelter on my own.
Chang: He really should change his violent ways.
Chang: Thanks for your thoughts.
Chang: Will you send the leftover bones back with me?
Chang: We should go see Yang now.

Latrophobia

-Intro
Chang: Got a coughing child who refused to see the doctor... Any suggestions?
Player: Yes.
Scene transition
Chang: One of my young Cannyes here is named Snuff.
Player: Snuff?
Chang: Yeah, she has a sensitive nose, particularly for tabaccos.
Chang: She's always disliked doctors and would hide to avoid them.
Chang: But she's coughing more often and harder...

-Feed her sunflower tea. - 500 Intimacy
Player: It's chronic if the kid kept coughing.
Player: You should try making tea with sunflowers.
Chang: Hopefully, the home remedy will cure her coughs.
Chang: I'll go pick sunflowers right now and make sure she drinks it with tea.
Chang: Thanks for the advice.

-Make her quit tabacco. - 700 Intimacy
Player: Could tabacco have something to do with her coughing?
Chang: You think she may be smoking behind my back?
Chang: She likes to sniff tobacco, but that shouldn't make her cough.
Chang: But she'll be sad if I confiscate her precious tabacco...
Chang: I'll find time to have a talk with her.
Chang: If she is smoking behind my back,
Chang: I'll explain the danger to her and get her to quit.
Chang: But if she's indeed just sniffing and never smoked...
Chang: I'll take the time to find out if there's any other cause.
Chang: Thank you.

-Overcome her fear of doctors. - 900 Intimacy
Chang: You're right.
Chang: If I let Snuff get away with it, it could be problematic if it becomes urgent.
Player: Why does she hate doctors?
Chang: When she was little,
Chang: her mother got seriously ill, and the doctor couldn't save her despite the family spending every cent they got.
Chang: Then her father was injured in the tabacco plant and died because they couldn't afford to see a doctor.
Chang: She avoids them partly because she didn't trust doctor, and partly because...
Chang: She is precocious.
Chang: She worried that seeing a doctor would burden me financially.
Player: I see.
Player: I got an idea.
Player: We can get Mercy to help.
Player: Let Mercy play a game of 'Doctor' with the children.
Player: Make Snuff think Mercy is just pretending,
Player: so she'll drop her guard for Mercy to make a diagnosis.
Player: You can tell her the truth once she gets better and builds trust in the 'pretend' doctor.
Chang: That is a great idea!
Chang: Good. Why don't we go see Miss Mercy now?
Chang: Thank you so much!

Camping

-Intro
Chang: I'm going camping with the children. You coming?
Player: Yes.
Scene transition
Chang: I haven't been outdoors with the kids in a long time.
Chang: I was in such a hurry that I feel I forgot something...

-Diaper change. - 700 Intimacy
Chang: I didn't forget about that.
Chang: I changed diapers for all the baby Cannyes before leaving.
Chang: And I brought enough with me.
Player: Hey, I hear a baby Cannye crying.
Chang: Probably wet himself again. Quick, get him a fresh diaper.
Player: You got it rough, nany. (snickering)
Chang: Stop snickering and come help me with it!

-Food. - 900 Intimacy
Chang: True, I did forget...
Chang: But I did that on purpose.
Chang: I take them camping to hone their hunting skills.
Chang: Cannyes have to leave the shelter ultimately when they grow up.
Chang: I'm not just obligated to feed the young Cannyes,
Chang: but also teach the older ones to hunt and survive.
Chang: Do you like barbecue?
Chang: We'll make some after the children return with their prey.

-Little Cannyes. - 500 Intimacy
Player: Count the younger Cannyes.
Player: Were all the kids with you when you left?
Chang: When we left...
Chang: Changlu?
Chang: Before we left, Changlu said he had to hit the restroom and will catch up.
Chang: But I still haven't seen him yet!
Player: That can't be...
Player: It shouldn't take this long to use the restroom.
Player: And we're not that far from the shelter, so he should be able to find us.
Chang: Oh, I remember now...
Chang: Han reminded me
Chang: that he used up the toilet paper this morning,
Chang: and I was too busy to refill it.
Chang: So Changlu is probably still in there!
Player: ...
Chang: Can you watch the kids for a second
Chang: while I go back and get Changlu?

The Way

-Intro
Player: How did you make time to come to Never Isle today?
Player: Isn't it busy at the shelter?
Chang: Aren't you going back in a bit?
Chang: I'm here to buy next week's supplies for the shelter.
Player: Are you the only one buying supplies?
Chang: Myself and several older Cannyes are sticking with the shelter.
Chang: They already left with stuff on the airship.
Chang: I just want to see you!
Chang: I'm taking the next flight back.
Player: I'm here already, no need for public airship.
Player: Let's get on my ship and we can have a drink at Hottie Bar.
Chang: Thank you so much.
Player: You're welcome. Bring the little ones from the shelter next time.
Chang: Great! They really want to ride the ship.
Player: Speaking of which, are they still naughty as ever?
Chang: Of course...
Chang: But the naughtier they are, the more I like them.
Chang: However...
Chang: Sigh...
Player: What happened?
Chang: More than a dozen young Cannyes pledged with Yang yesterday.
Chang: What's so great about Yang?
Chang: Would you die for a better life?
Player: Well...
Choice A.1 - Let them go. They're adults now.
Chang: I can understand that.
Chang: But I really don't want to watch the kids stoop to robbing.
Chang: And doing other dangerous stuff.
Chang: What am I going to do if something bad happens to them?
Player: Well...
Choice A.1.a1 - Why don't I go talk to Yang about not taking your Cannyes again?
Chang: He didn't respond!!
Chang: I tried, already.
Choice A.1.a2 - You have to make peace with it.
No additional dialog.
Conversation continues after choices
Chang: Sigh. I know. But I feel so bad seeing them running to Yang.
Player: Since you can't stop them, ask Yang to watch after them.
Player: Everyone has their own aspirations, including Cannyes.
Choice A.2 - How can grown Cannyes be so childish?
Chang: Right! They're clearly children who'll never grow up!
Chang: They thought they've grown up and know better.
Player: Calm down. Getting mad is bad for your health.
Player: There are still people at the shelter for you to take care of.
Choice A.3 - Didn't you try to convince them?
Chang: I've talked with them.
Chang: But they're adults. I can't always tell them what to do.
Player: You did your best.
Player: Let the cards fall where they may.
Chang: Sigh. I know. But I feel so bad seeing them running to Yang.
Player: Since you can't stop them, ask Yang to watch after them.
Conversation continues after choices
Player: Everyone has their own aspirations, including Cannyes.
Player: Look at the bright side.
Player: At least they went to Yang.
Player: If you want to see them, you still could.
Player: It's better than working for another Mafia or joining the Shadow.
Chang: ...
Chang: You're right!
Chang: I have to look at the bright side.
Chang: Several coming-of-age Cannye decided to stay recently.
Chang: To help me run the shelter.
Player: See, isn't that wonderful?
Chang: They helped me with a lot of different things.
Chang: I've brought them with me to Never Isle this time on a shopping trip.
Chang: Still, only a few decided to stay with me.
Chang: Many Cannyes switch from the shelter to Yang every year.
Chang: My shelter is practically a training camp for that guy.
Player: Why do they want to join Yang so badly?
Chang: They don't think they have a future with the shelter.
Chang: In fact, the shelter is in better condition than before.
Chang: I was the only one at the beginning and it was very small.
Chang: Many of them were orphans and we had no funding.
Chang: I'd even take the little ones out hunting.
Chang: Then I'd barbecue the meat with fire Arcana to feed them.
Chang: I was poor at the time, but I was very happy.
Chang: Of course, I am very happy now, too.
Chang: The Order of Equality has helped us a lot.
Chang: They helped expand the shelter as well.
Chang: We often get volunteers now, also.
Chang: Mr. Vundo would send his students over for internships.
Chang: But even so...
Chang: We certainly don't match up to what Yang could offer.
Chang: In the words of a Cannye who joined Yang...
Chang: Life is more fun and exciting with Yang.
Player: You've already done enough.
Player: At least the shelter is changing for the better.
Chang: That being said, it's still not a long-term solution.
Chang: The shelter can't rely on the good grace of others forever.
Chang: Shelters don't last long like that.
Player: That is true.
Player: I'll think it over.

-Choice B.1 - The Cannyes need a leader.
Chang: Leader?
Player: Yes!
Player: There are tens of thousands of Cannyes in Luxium.
Chang: I haven't estimated it, but...
Player: And while Cannyes are small in stature...
Player: They could fight pretty well.
Chang: Fight? Forget it.
Player: Let me finish.
Player: Yang's Mafia proved that the Cannyes are very strong.
Player: But the Cannyes are scattered all over Luxium.
Player: And save for the shelter...
Player: They don't have any sizeable settlements.
Player: It exposes them to violence from those who hate them.
Player: But what if you could bring them together...
Player: Wouldn't that fix the problem?
Chang: Bring them all together?
Chang: That would require at least two Never Isles in size, maybe more.
Chang: It's impossible for the shelter to do!
Player: They won't need a shelter by then.
Player: Imagine a settlement where all the Cannye gathered.
Chang: A Cannye city-state?
Player: Yes!
Chang: Well... Hmm...
Player: So Cannyes need a leader.
Player: A leader who can unite them.
Player: As long as Cannyes are united under one banner...
Player: Every Cannye would have their own role.
Player: Just like Never Isle!
Player: By then, they would have their own farmers, workers, schools, machines, and army.
Player: Self-reliance wouldn't be an issue.
Player: They could even set up embassies in other cities.
Player: They will protect Cannyes throughout Luxium.
Chang: I never thought of that!
Chang: ...
Chang: You're absolutely right!
Chang: That's a great idea!!
Chang: A city-state!
Chang: This will not only provide, but protect all Cannyes in Luxium.
Chang: However...
Chang: It takes a lot of money to build a city.
Chang: We can't even support ourselves now.
Chang: How could we possibly build a city?
Player: If you think like that, you'll get caught in a vicious cycle.
Choice B.1.a1 - Start with trade and commerce, like Never Isle.
Player: Azria wasn't built in a day. Take your time.
Player: Think about how little Never Isle had at the beginning.
Player: The Oathblades even had to go out and hunt.
Player: Now look at Never Isle.
Player: You can start with a small village and grow it slowly.
Player: Then trade with places friendly to Cannye.
Player: Don't you think Wesley did a good job with Never Isle?
Player: It can both promote economic growth and improve the relationship between humans and Cannyes.
Player: As economy takes off, the village will turn into a town.
Player: It will happen, but it will take time.
Choice B.1.a2 - Yang's Mafia would be a good start.
Chang: What?
Player: I don't mean to let them become Mafias.
Player: Although Yang's faction is a Mafia...
Player: But they have amassed a lot of money.
Player: That should be more than enough to set up a village.
Chang: With Mafia's money?
Player: That may not be too promising.
Player: We need all the resources we can get for a brighter future.
Chang: But Yang may not dig the idea.
Player: I think he will agree.
Player: After all, you both love the Cannyes.
Conversation continues after choices
Chang: Okay, let's say we have the funding...
Chang: But where can we find a leader like that?

-Choice B.1.b1: Isn't it right in front of us? - 700 Intimacy
Chang: Me?
Chang: No, no, no, I can't!
Player: Cannyes need a leader who truly loves them.
Player: You're the best fit.
Chang: I do love the Cannyes very much.
Chang: But I'm not the one to lead them all.
Chang: But if they want to learn Arcana...
Chang: I'll be glad to be their Arcana instructor.
Player: Ha, don't mention...
Player: You are born to be a teacher.
Chang: It's a terrific idea, no matter what.
Chang: I believe a Cannye will stand out from the crowd!

-Choice B.1.b2: Yang is an option. - 700 Intimacy
Chang: Yang?
Chang: Are you sure?
Player: You probably don't like hearing this...
Player: But the Cannyes think the world of Yang.
Player: The Cannyes under him would die for him.
Player: Yang does have leadership quality.
Chang: You're right in saying that.
Chang: Yang is indeed courageous but not reckless.
Chang: Decisive and determined.
Chang: He treats his Cannyes genuinely well.
Chang: But humans don't see eye to eye with him.
Chang: If he was Cannyes' leader...
Chang: Humans just might declare war on them.
Player: Yeah, that is a possibility...
Chang: So it's better for the Cannyes to lead themselves.
Chang: You just can't make it happen in a day.
Chang: Their perfect leader will come along one day.

-Choice B.1.b3: We need to groom someone. - 900 Intimacy
Player: You and Yang are the closest to the Cannyes in all of Luxium.
Player: Although Yang is much revered among them...
Player: Many Cannyes idolize him.
Player: Yang has leadership quality too.
Player: But building a city-state also requires interaction with other towns.
Player: Yang would make the rift between Cannyes and humans irreversible.
Player: In your case, Chang, you're overly kind.
Player: A leader not only must love his people...
Player: But must fight tooth and nails for them too.
Player: Even resorting to underhanded means to justify the end.
Player: And you always want to do everything yourself, Chang.
Player: If you were to lead the Cannyes...
Player: You'll probably work yourself to death.
Chang: You think so?
Chang: Maybe I can work with Yang...
Player: Not a good idea.
Player: Bottom line, neither you nor Yang is Cannye.
Player: If the Cannyes needed your help all this time...
Player: It won't be in line with our initial intent.
Player: For them to be truly independent and grow...
Player: They need a Cannye to lead them.
Player: While you and Yang are much revered among them...
Player: Outside the shelter and the Mafia...
Player: Not a lot of Cannyes know you.
Player: As for the Cannyes who don't know us...
Player: It would be easier for them to believe a fellow Cannye than a Gyee.
Chang: But where can we find a Cannye like that?
Player: That's why we need to groom you.
Chang: Me? As in... me?
Chang: I understand.
Chang: I promise I'll work hard! For the future of Cannyes!

-Choice B.2 - A long-term partnership with Never Isle. - 500 Intimacy
Player: Didn't you mention Mr. Vundo sent people over for internships?
Player: You should explore this option.
Player: Long-term partnership with various parties on Never Isle.
Player: The Oathblades or Order of Equality could use your place for training.
Player: And help you look after the little ones.
Player: You could also charge a fee.
Chang: I thought about that before.
Chang: But...
Chang: But why would Oathblades, Order of Equality train on shelter ground?
Chang: They have strongholds in many cities throughout Luxium.
Chang: The system for training newcomers is well thought out.
Chang: We don't and can't provide training, though...
Chang: Mr. Vundo actually sent someone over to help me.
Chang: Besides, the destruction of their homes got Cannyes leery of humans.
Chang: The more low-key the shelter is, the better.
Player: True, I didn't think about it that much.
Player: Well, how about training Cannyes for Never Isle?
Player: For instance, preparing them for the Arcana Academy, Order of Equality or Oathblades?
Chang: Hmm, that's not a bad idea...
Chang: But you probably haven't seen any Cannye in the Oathblades, Order of Equality or the Academy.
Player: Indeed...
Chang: Also, I don't want to interfere with young Cannyes' aspirations.
Chang: I still want them to follow their own dreams.
Chang: And work toward those dreams.
Chang: Oops, it's getting late!
Chang: I have to go make food for little ones back at the shelter.
Player: I can walk you back.
Chang: Thank you so much.

-Choice B.3 - Don't move to Never Isle. - 500 Intimacy
Player: The Cannyes were so happy when you came last month for the Moon Festival.
Player: Or you should just all move to Never Isle!
Player: Easier for everyone to look after you this way.
Player: Easier to track you down too.
Chang: I got a lot of Cannye pups clamoring to come to Never Isle now.
Chang: But that's not a realistic proposition.
Chang: As you saw, Never Isle is big.
Chang: But it's not getting any bigger.
Chang: Never Isle is a bastion for Gyees.
Chang: There are still many Gyees in Luxium who need help.
Chang: Never Isle doesn't have the space to help Cannyes.
Chang: Maybe Azria will be rebuilt one day.
Chang: Then Cannyes could live with us.
Player: All right...
Player: But don't give up.
Player: We'll figure out a way!
Chang: Ok!
Chang: It's getting late. I got to go.
Player: Let me take you home.
Player: We'll have a drink or two in Hottie Bar!

Little Cannyes

You ask Chang to go out for a walk. But he is so busy with attending to the Cannyes at the shelter. So he feels like meeting you on a weekend with the little Cannyes and he can introduce them to you. But you feel that one little Cannye is trying to find issue with you...

-Part 1
Scene - Little Cannye Shelter
Chang: Haha, you're here! Children! What do you say?
Little Cannyes: Hello, Uncle!
Player: Hello, everyone! I hear you've got a big day today!
Chang: It's the weekend! I always take the children out on the weekends.
Changlu: What are we going to play today? Hide-and-seek? Or tag?
Changlu: We're tired of those games! Don't you have any new ones?
March: Then how about we play 'I'm going to slap your face!'
Changlu: Say that again! You got a death wish?
Chang: Go on back, Changlu! Why do you act like that in front of our guest?
Changlu: Humph!
Chang: And March, why are you talking to your classmates like that?
March: Why are you yelling at me? I was helping you! He's the one who tore apart your desk!
Chang: It's enough to make you laugh. But what else can I do? This is the only free time I get all week.
Chang: However, why have you come to see me?
Player: It's been a while since we saw each other. I just wanted to chat.
Player: I was also curious about what your everyday life is like.
Chang: Ay, this is the naughtiest class. The other classes are all better...a little, anyway.
Hippo: Father, didn't you say last time that class seven is your naughtiest class?
Changlu: Stupid. There is no class seven anymore, they all went to join Boss Yang!
Chang: Don't you dare call that scoundrel 'boss' again!
Han: Father, don't get angry. Changlu didn't mean it...
March: Hey, you little dunce. He bullies you all day long, and you still want to speak up for him?
Han: We need to look like a united and harmonious family in front of Father's friends.
Han: Let's put it to rest! Father still needs to introduce us to his friend...
Chang: Haha, Class President Han is the smartest of the whole lot! Why don't you start, Han?
Han: Hello, Uncle! My name is Han. We've heard a lot about you from Father...
Player: Is that so? Well, hello!
Chang: Han's never been very healthy. When I first brought him back, he was very small and had a terrible fever.
Chang: I took care of him for a long time, hoping that he would beat the fever and cool down. That's why I named him Han!
Chang: It must have been a good name, because Han got a lot better afterward!
Chang: He is Yanni. I found him in the ruins of Azria.
Yanni: Heh, heh. Originally Father called me Az. He said he hoped someday I would become as grand as the Great Az.
Yanni: But that name is too noticeable, so you can just call me Yanni!
Chang: This little one is called Changlu. Say hello to our guest!
Changlu: Oh. Hello.
Chang: Changlu's parents had me look after him. They said they'd be back in a week. But in the blink of an eye, more than a year passed...
Chang: There's been no word of his parents...
Chang: He's the naughtiest one. He used to sneak out and go stealing with Yang. He even lied to Yang himself, saying he was an adult.
All Choices - "And Yang believed him?" OR "You can tell he's not an adult just by looking at him!"
No additional dialog
Conversation continues after choices
Chang: Haha, there's no way to tell!
Chang: When you're a Cannye, this is the biggest you're gonna get, adult or not!
Chang: This is Hippo.
Hippo: Hello, Uncle. You can just call me 'Lil Hip'.
Chang: Hippo's quite incredible. I found him upon the forehead of a hippopotamus!
Chang: Hippo waved his hand and the hippo came rushing over to me! Even just its nostrils alone were bigger than Hippo here.
Chang: When he stood up straight, his hair flapped in the wind, and I thought he looked so cool. That's why I call him Hippo!
Player: Hello, Hippo! Nice to meet you!
Chang: This is March. He's always stirring up trouble, too. He and Changlu like to fight all day long.
March: Hey Pop. You off your rocker? We didn't fight. I beat the crap out of him! Get it right!
Changlu: What did you just -
Chang: All right, all right. This is Smog. She's a girl.
Chang: I found her at the tobacco factory in Eversun. She's got a very acute sense of smell when it comes to tobacco.
Chang: Obviously, she's just a little girl. And yet, she's like Mr. Vundo-the smell of a cigarette will stop her in her tracks.
Smog: Hee hee. You know Mr. Vundo, Uncle? You should tell him to come visit us more often!
Chang: This is Dunker. When I found her in the hole of a tree, the White Capes had taken her parents...
Chang: She was hiding inside all alone. All I could see in the darkness of the hole were two little eyes glittering at me.
Chang: She hates talking, so I'm not going to force her to say hello.
Chang: All right, children. Why don't you go play? Today, we aren't playing Hide-and-Seek or Tag!
Chang: We're going to play a new game. It's called 'Find the Meat!' Sound good?
Changlu: Tch. Isn't that just where you hide some barbecue and make us look for it? Boring!
Changlu: It's always grilled. Can't you steam it or boil it for once?
Han: Changlu, why are you...
March: Stupid dog! Don't pay attention to him. The two of us will find the meat and eat it all up. We won't even leave him the bone!
Han: That's not very nice...
Changlu: Don't you dare! Stand right there!
All of the little Cannye scatter
Chang: Ay. I remember the first time I used arcana to grill meat for the children, they were so happy...
Chang: But they're right. I grill it every time. Anybody would get tired of eating that all the time...
Choice - How could anyone get tired of eating barbecue?
Chang: They're just not as enthusiastic about it as before.
Chang: They're tired of eating it.
Choice - I think other Cannye would like to eat it! - 5 Intimacy
Chang: Yeah. After all, Cannye love to eat meat.
Chang: But even if they're not tired of eating it now, they will be later.
Conversation continues after choices
Chang: *sighs*... I feel like such a failure. It's not just the food, either.
Chang: Every time I take them out to play or tell them a story, they all say I'm out of new tricks.
Chang: What should I do? I don't want all their childhood memories to be boring...
-Choice A - Choice - I think he's just deliberately stirring up trouble. - 5 Intimacy
Player: Who, Changlu?
Chang: Yeah. I've raised all the other children since they were little. They've all made this place their home.
Chang: But since Changlu was brought here by his parents, he's had no sense of belonging.
Chang: I put him into the orphans' class. I wanted him to connect with his peers and integrate into the group.
Chang: There's so many people in the shelter. Men, women, old people, children... When all is said and done, my energy is limited and it is difficult to look after them all.
Chang: So I pay extra close attention to the orphans' class. I put him in the class so that I could take better care of him.
Chang: *sighs*... Maybe that's why. Because I effectively labeled him an 'abandoned orphan'.
Chang: He's going to hate me forever.
Chang: Actually, he's not such a bad kid. He's got a great memory. Doesn't matter what it is, as long as he's seen it once he'll remember it!
Chang: I want to see what he's interested in when he gets older. Whether he wants to study medicine or arcana...
Chang: It'd be pretty great if he studied machines like Turing!
Choice - That kid just doesn't know how to behave...
Chang: Don't say that. It's understandable.
Player: You can remember the names and strong points of so many different Cannye. It's pretty incredible.
Player: There's only seven of them, and I already can't tell which is which.
Choice - You're the one with the good memory! - 8 Intimacy
Player: The shelter has so many Cannye living there. Do you know all of them by heart?
Chang: If you add them all together, there's 216 Cannye. We do a head count every day.
Chang: Actually, my memory is just mediocre. It's not nearly as good as Mr. Vundo's or Turing's.
Chang: The reason why I can remember so many Cannye is because I've got a small notebook.
Chang: Well, it used to be a small notebook. Now there's a bunch of them stapled together so it's thick like a dictionary now.
Chang: Every Cannye is recorded inside. Their names, histories, hobbies, strengths, etc.
Player: Wow...
Player: Even just these seven little Cannye confuse me.
Conversation continues after choices
Chang: Haha, it's just part of my job!
Chang: However, my memory is getting worse and worse. Probably because I don't get enough sleep.
Chang: The week before last, I called a child by the wrong name.
Player: Truth is, you're going to make a lot of mistakes when you don't get enough sleep. When did you get to sleep yesterday?
Chang: I didn't sleep...
Chang: When I finally finished my day's work, it was already the middle of the night.
Chang: After that, I rushed out to hunt, because I wanted to give the children barbecue to eat today.
Chang: Even though this kind of meat isn't good for the children's teeth, the shelter's funds are limited.
Chang: We need to cut down on expenses wherever we can. We just don't have the money to buy fine meat for them.
Player: You need to take care of yourself, too.
Choice - You can't just think about the children.
Chang: Yeah. I will...
Changlu: Hey, Chang!
Go to Part 2
Choice - If something happens to you, what will become of the children? - 5 Intimacy
Chang: Yeah. I will...
Changlu: Hey, Chang!
Go to Part 2

-Choice B - Have you tried learning how to cook? - 8 Intimacy
Chang: It's not that I haven't thought about that...
Chang: But I just don't have the time!
Chang: For example, yesterday.
Chang: In the morning I had to change the Cannye infants' diapers, shovel manure, make everyone breakfast, and boil medicine for the sick.
Chang: Later in the morning, I had to scrub the plates, give the Cannye a shave, feed the sick their medicine, and start making lunch.
Chang: As I was scrubbing the plates, I needed to give the children counseling, but otherwise I can't make time for it.
Chang: At noon while everyone was eating, I quickly wrote thank you letters to all the people who were kind enough to make donations. It was a real headache...
Chang: When I finished writing, I had to scrub the plates again, boil the medicine, change the diapers, and shovel the manure...
Chang: In the afternoon, the ingredients and daily consumables I purchased arrived. I had to pay the money, sign the bill, do the bookkeeping, and move the stuff...
Chang: Then I had a bunch of miscellaneous stuff to take care of. Finally, it was time to make dinner, scrub the plates, boil the medicine...
Choice - Once all that's done, can you sleep?
Chang: No way!
Chang: These are just the basic tasks. If those were the only things I got done, the children's lives would be quite tedious.
Choice - Hold on, when do you eat? - 5 Intimacy
Chang: Scrub...
Chang: Haha, I have time to eat. However, I don't have very long, so I just didn't list it out as its own thing.
Player: (Scrub? Scrub the plates? Don't tell me he's so afraid of waste that he'll eat the children's leftovers...)
Chang: Ah, I'm not done yet. It's evening by the time these are all done.
Conversation continues after choices
Chang: The evening stuff is important too, because that's when the children have class.
Chang: I'll teach the kids who are interested in arcana about arcana.
Chang: History, literature, and basic classes like these are all in the evening, too.
Chang: At night, I need to record and review the Cannyes' notebooks.
Chang: Actually it's a bunch of notebooks stapled together so it's thick like a dictionary now.
Chang: Every Cannye is recorded inside. Their name, history, hobbies, strengths, etc.
Chang: Sometimes I have to deal with emergencies. For example, yesterday a small Cannye started crying out.
Chang: At first I thought it was Onion. Then I thought it was Flower, or maybe Dunker. But it probably couldn't have been Dunker.
Chang: In short, when she cried out, the other Cannyes cried out. This kept going until everyone was crying out.
Chang: By the time this was dealt with, it was the early morning. Since I had to give everyone barbecue, I had to go out and hunt...
Chang: And then...
Chang: Ah, sorry. I'm rambling, aren't I? I talk too much...
Chang: Sometimes the kids think I talk too much, too. What a bother...
Choice - You don't talk too much! You've got worries that you need to get off your chest! - 5 Intimacy
Chang: Thank you. There aren't many people willing to listen to me talk on and on like this.
Choice - They just don't understand what you're going through.
Chang: Yeah...
Conversation continues after choices
Player: That's right, you said you went out in the early morning. Don't tell me you didn't sleep?
Chang: Mm. Even after doing all that work, they still say they're tired of eating barbecue...
Chang: Actually, the shelter is normally very poor. We're only able to eat meat twice a week. Most of the time, we just eat rice and corn.
Player: (That's the food they're probably tired of eating. Complaining about the meat is clearly just nitpicking.)
Chang: Even if I learned to be an amazing cook, I'm afraid I wouldn't have the ingredients to put those skills to use.
Player: There's no need to learn that right now. Sleep is very important. You need to take care of yourself!
Chang: Yeah. I will...
Changlu: Hey, Chang!
Go to Part 2

-Part 2
The little Cannye come back
Han: Changlu, don't call Father by his name like that!
Changlu: He may be your father, but he ain't mine!
Changlu: Chang, didn't you realize you overcooked the meat?
Chang: I don't think so? I... I don't remember overcooking it...
Chang: Maybe it's because I've had a cold lately, my nose isn't working right?
Changlu: Isn't working right? More like, is totally useless!
Changlu: We can't eat this!
Chang: Sorry...
March: Father, you didn't do anything wrong, and you're still apologizing? You're spoiling this mutt!
Changlu: Who's a mutt? Why you...
Chang: All right, don't fight. How about I grill some more meat for you?
Changlu: Grill again? Yuck!
Changlu: What good is it even if you don't overcook it? It still tastes bad! We still can't bite into it!
Chang: Then what should I do...
Chang: How about I tell you all a story? You all like stories, don't you?
Changlu: We love listening to stories, but can you really call what you tell 'stories'?
Changlu: I'm tired of hearing your same ol' dumb stories!
Player: (How about I tell them a story?)
Player: (But telling a story is not necessarily the best way. Merely placating them will not solve the problem...)
-Choice A - (Wait quietly for the right opportunity.)
Hippo: Isn't that enough, Changlu?
Hippo: Your parents only gave a week's worth of allowance. Do you think I should look after you for over a year?
Hippo: When you're here, you'd better be honest. Otherwise you might as well leave!
Changlu: All right! I don't wanna hang around this slum for another day!
Changlu: Yanni, Smog, I'll take you guys with me to go live with Boss Yang. I guarantee there'll be all kinds of delicious food and drinks!
Smog: All right. I hear Boss Yang has lots of tobacco!
Changlu: Anybody who wants to go live with Boss Yang, stand over here by me!
Chang: You...
Chang: Hippo, you too?
March: Rotten Hippo. Trading loyalties as quickly as a page turns, eh?
Changlu: Why you? Don't tell me you want to go live with Yang, too?
Hippo: I'm sorry. I want to be somebody. Going to live with Boss Yang is the best choice.
Chang: No. I understand you. I know what you're thinking! Don't do this!
Changlu: You wanna join us, Dunker? Living with Boss Yang is much better than living in this slum!
Changlu: Dunker, you...
Dunker: Stupid dog.
March: Haha, well said, Dunker! You're a lot tougher than that rotten Hippo!
Han: You can't do this, Changlu. You're not setting a good example. Don't lead the other students astray...
Changlu: Lead them astray? Humph. Don't tell me we don't have the right to choose a better life!
Changlu: Let's go!
-Choice A.1 - Let the children choose for themselves.
Chang: No way!
Chang: They're still just children. They can't choose for themselves!
Chang: Once you've grown up and you understand things a little bit better, if you still want to go to Yang, I will not stop you.
Chang: But not right now! Right now you must listen to me!
Changlu: Based on what? You still think you're our father?
Player: Be careful what you say, Changlu.
Player: He gets up early and goes to bed late every day. Taking care of you all isn't easy, so don't tell me you don't care about him!
Player: He went hunting for you while he was sick. He didn't even sleep!
Player: Although I understand your decision, you cannot treat him like this!
Changlu: ...
Player: Especially you, Changlu. You've always felt like he's someone else's father and not your own.
Player: He's not your father. That means he has no obligation to look after you, but has he treated you any differently than the other children?
Changlu: Sorry...
Yanni: Actually, the last time Changlu returned from Yang's, he brought us a bunch of cool gifts.
Yanni: That night, a bag of beef sticks were put next to Father's pillow. Changlu was the one who snuck in and put them there.
Changlu: Yanni! You promised to keep that a secret!
Chang: So it was you!
Changlu: Those were barbecue beef sticks. I didn't like them, so I gave them to you, that's all...
Chang: I know that life is a little better over at Yang's. But if you go down his path...
Chang: It's very dangerous. You could lose your life at any moment!
Chang: Moreover, there are all kinds of Cannye in this world without a place to call their home who are discriminated against by others.
Chang: If you go all over the place with Yang looting and stealing, you'll only cause more problems. They'll kill even more Cannye!
Player: But even if Yang didn't exist, there'd still be Cannye wandering about without a home.
Player: Cannye are very weak, but they have a strong sense of smell, that much is inevitable.
Player: There will always be people who will take advantage of Cannye. They will capture them and force them into thievery...
Player: So the people who have had stuff stolen from them will always bear resentment against the Cannye.
Player: The Order of Equality is very powerful, and yet normal humans' impression of Gyee haven't improved.
Player: It would be too difficult for just one person to make life better for Cannyes.
Player: Stop asking so much of yourself. You already haven't slept for several days.
Player: What's more, you're still sick. If you keel over one day, what will happen to all the Cannye in the shelter?
Yanni: Let's go. Neither I, Changlu, nor Hippo want to be a burden on you any longer.
Chang: No! I will not agree to this! You must wait until you're grown up!
Chang: You all don't need to worry about me. I'll never keel over! If I keel over, I'll just stand up again!
Chang: As long as I remain standing, I'll never permit my children to put their lives in harm's way!
Changlu: So you're going to put your own life in harm's way?
Changlu: Humph. I'm not your child, I can go anytime I want!
Changlu: Time will prove me right.
Yanni: Father, trust us.
Chang: Changlu! Hippo!
Chang: You...
Changlu: Take care... Father.
Chang: How can this be...
Chang: Is this really all my fault?
Chang collapses
Han: Daddy! What's wrong, Daddy?!
March: Ah! Sooner or later, I'm going to kill Changlu!
Player: (His argument was sound. How did things turn out like this?)
Player: (I never should have let them go...)
Scene ends

-Choice A.2 - Stop right there! - 11 Intimacy
Player: Haven't you ever thought that by doing this, you're hurting your father very deeply?
Changlu: What's that got to do with you?
Player: I'm his friend. If a friend of yours was being bullied, what would you do?
Player: Although I can understand your decision, you need to understand the consequences of what you're doing.
Player: He gets up early and goes to bed late every day. Taking care of you all isn't easy, so don't tell me you don't care about him!
Player: He didn't even sleep last night. He's still sick. You're going to utterly exhaust him!
Player: Changlu, do you really think what he needs are beef sticks?
Changlu: I...
Han: Changlu. Whenever Father teaches me about arcana, he often says how good your memory is...
Han: He said it'd be great if you wanted to come learn, too.
Han: He also said, if Changlu doesn't like arcana, he could go learn to study medicine or machinery.
Han: He said Changlu hasn't found his path yet, but we will definitely find a way...
Han: If you go and become a bandit, he'll be very sad...
Changlu: But...
Changlu: But what can I do? Watch helplessly as he gets weaker and weaker and I can't do anything about it?
Changlu: I just want to help him share some of the burden. I want to make everyone's lives better. So I...
Choice - Then isn't it all the more important not to upset him? - 5 Intimacy
Changlu: I...
Player: You don't want things to be like this, do you?
Choice - This isn't taking some of the burden. It's increasing it.
Changlu: ...
Choice - You're too impatient. - 8 Intimacy
Chang: Yes...
Conversation continues after choices
Chang: Changlu, people of different ages need to do different things. When you grow up, I won't interfere with your decisions.
Chang: But right now, you need to study. This way, when you grow up, you'll become an accomplished Cannye.
Choice - First you need to make yourself more valuable! - 8 Intimacy
Player: Then think again about how to create value.
Player: Not the other way around.
Choice - As a Cannye, you should have dreams! - 5 Intimacy
Player: However... your dream isn't to become a bandit, right?
Changlu: Of course not!
Choice - You need to plan out a course before you can go charging ahead! - 8 Intimacy
Player: Like sailing on the sea, if you don't plot out a course first...
Player: The faster you sail, the easier it is to hit rocks.
Player: But... you don't plan on becoming a bandit, right?
Changlu: Of course not!
Conversation continues after choices
Changlu: I...
Changlu: I'll think some more about what you said today.
Chang: Changlu...
Chang: Han, go with him! We don't want anything to happen to him while he's all alone.
Han: Ok!
Player: I wonder if he really heard me...
Chang: I understand Changlu. He means what he says. If he says he'll think it over, he'll think it over for sure.
Chang: Once I return, I'll straighten him out!
Chang: Good thing you're here. You're a big help.
Chang: I don't know how to thank you!
Player: There's no need to be polite. However...
Player: Keep an eye on these kids. But don't forget to take care of yourself as well.
Player: Your body's gonna fall apart if you keep tossing and turning at night like this. What will the children do, then?
Chang: Mm... You're right. I'll take good care of myself!
Go to Part 3.1

-Choice B - I can tell you a story!
Player: When it comes to telling stories, I'm the best in all of Luxium!
Changlu: Stop talking yourself up. Tell the story already!
Player: All right. Today's story is...
-Choice B.1 - The Dog King Wreaks Havoc in Heaven. - 15 Intimacy
Player: A long time ago, there was a holy stone on the banks of the Elysian River. It absorbed the sunlight and the moonlight, and the flux of the heavens and the Earth...
Player: One day, this holy stone was so full of Flux that it burst and a stone dog emerged from within...
...
You told the story of The Dog King Wreaks Havoc in Heaven.
Player: The White Robe minister threw the Dog King into the furnace in an attempt to turn him into a pill of immortality.
Player: After cultivating its essence for 49 days, the day in which the immortal pill would be created was nearing. Unexpectedly...
Player: The Dog King leapt out of the furnace without a scratch, its hair standing on end.
Changlu: Whoa, cool...
Player: Not only that, but the Dog King had absorbed the sacred fire from the immortal pill furnace and had 24k gold eyes!
March: Father! Er, Your Highness. What kind of ability are gold eyes?
Chang: Don't ask me! I'm not the Dog King from the story!
Smog: Why not? He studied Arcana abroad, came back and became the Dog King. He went to the Dragon Palace on the Sea of Storm...
Smog: And got the Golden Wish Staff!
Player: Speaking of the Golden Wish Staff, when trying to make the immortality pill, some sacred flame got attached to the staff!
Changlu: So the Dog King renamed it the Sacred Flame Staff, right?
Player: That's right. You're a smart one!
Changlu: Wasn't that you? You won't admit it?
Yanni: Changlu, stop saying 'you'. You must address him as 'Your Majesty' or 'Your Holiness'!
Changlu: Your Highness, Your Highness! That little notebook you write in is the Book of Life and Death, right?
March: Yeah, yeah! Your Highness, have our names been scratched out?
Han: Holy Father, is 'Erlang Shen' Uncle Yang? Or Uncle Miles?
Hippo: Your Majesty, teach the children some Arcana! They want to wreak havoc in heaven with you!
Chang: Agh, children, you're wrong. Children, I'm not the Dog King!
Chang: You all had better calm down...
Dunker: Make a pill.
Changlu: Yeah! Dunker's right!
Changlu: Let's go to the immortality pill furnace and see if we can give Your Highness some golden eyes! Let's go!
The little Cannye leave
Chang: Thank you for getting me out of this pickle. But what happened to the Dog King? I'm curious, too!
Player: Haha, I'll write you a letter once I get back. This is a story you'll be able to tell the children for a long time!
Chang: Great! With this story, it'll be very easy to entertain the children!
Player: However, I never imagined telling a story could be so effective! Changlu seems to be much more well-behaved now!
Chang: Haha, yeah! He loves to listen to stories!
Go to Part 3.2

-Choice B.2 - Calabash Cannyes. - 11 Intimacy
Player: During the Second Shadow War, the shadows had wreaked havoc upon the land. An anteater told an old dog...
Player: You must plant a Cannye vine. Cannye pups of seven different colors will sprout, and they will save the world.
Player: Thus, the old dog and the anteater found a Cannye vine together...
...
You told the story of the Seven Pups on the Vine.
Changlu: So it turns out our ancestors once beat the Lord of Shadows and saved the world...
Chang: If you all can unite together and work as one, you can save the world, too!
March: Hey, that's right! There's seven of us!
Han: You're very strong, so you're the Powerful Pup.
March: Haha, you're afraid of the cold and you like learning arcana from Father, so you're definitely the Fire Pup!
March: Changlu, even the Powerful Baby can't knock you down, so you must be the Diamond Pup!
Changlu: Humph. I won't bicker with you, but only because we're trying to save the world here!
Hippo: Without a doubt, I'm the Water Pup.
Changlu: Dunker is the Invisible Pup!
Changlu: Even though Smog doesn't have the 'Thousand Mile Eye,' she's got the 'Thousand Mile Nose,' so she's the Nose Pup!
Smog: Nose Pup is a terrible name! Call me Smoke Pup!
Yanni: What's left?
March: Sucking Pup! It's got a very powerful artifact that can suck everything up!
Changlu: Ah! That's Master Az's Wheel of Fate!
Changlu: There's a reason you were picked up in Azria! It was your fate!
Player: This kid knows about the Wheel of Fate?
Chang: Haha, Changlu loves reading books, and he never forgets what he reads!
Chang: However, the most useless guy seems to be this old dog right here.
Chang: Do you have any other stories you can tell where the children can be strong, and I can be strong too?
Player: Uh... I'll have to think about it when I get back! Then I'll write them to you!
Chang: Great! With this story, it'll be very easy to entertain the children!
Go to Part 3.3

-Choice B.3 - Simba the Cannye King. - 11 Intimacy
Player: (That's not right, the villain of the story is Prince Simba's uncle, Wolf...)
Player: (It's quite treacherous and sinister. What if the children contact their Uncle Yang?)
Player: (It might cause problems. Please change one...)
Choice - The Dog King Wreaks Havoc in Heaven.
Go to Choice B.1
Choice - Seven Pups on a Vine.
Go to Choice B.2

-Part 3.1
Chang: That's right. Which of the children do you like the most?
Choice 1 - Han. - 8 Intimacy
Chang: Han is a good child, he's just a little weak.
Chang: I'm really worried he'll be bullied when he gets older...
Choice 2 - March. - 5 Intimacy
Chang: March... He stirs up trouble all day long.
Chang: Even though his name is March, his temper is as fiery as August.
Chang: He listens to me well enough now, but just wait until he grows up and goes out into the world...
Chang: *sighs*... It really makes me worry.
Choice 3 - Changlu. - 8 Intimacy
Chang: Changlu is a good kid, he just lacks a little guidance!
Chang: However, I had no idea you were so charitable!
Choice 4 - Actually, I like...
Choice 4.1 - Hippo. - 8 Intimacy
Chang: Hippo is a very mysterious child. Sometimes I have no idea what he's thinking.
Player: I don't think he was really intending on going to Yang this time.
Chang: Of course not. And if he was, I wouldn't be too worried about him...
Chang: He might be planning something. But he's not planning on joining them!
Chang: You absolutely must not encourage him. I think that these dangerous thoughts are going to end up hurting him...
Choice 4.2 - Yanni. - 8 Intimacy
Chang: Yanni is a normal child. However, I feel he has a rather meticulous mind.
Chang: He's good at understanding others. Otherwise, why would he tell his secret to someone else?
Choice 4.3 - Smog. - 8 Intimacy
Chang: Why Smog?
Player: Maybe you haven't realized that Smog is actually the purest child here. She doesn't seem to have anything heavy weighing on her mind.
Chang: This is really surprising. You just met them, and yet you already see them so clearly!
Chang: But girls really like Smog. This won't be a good thing, right?
Choice 4.3.1 - (Stay silent.)
No additional dialog
Choice 4.3.2 - You can't treat them differently because of that!
Chang: Whatever the case, tobacco is too unhealthy!
Chang: And she's so small. Whether they're boys or girls, I absolutely will not let them smoke at their age!
Player: That's right. Children shouldn't smoke.
Choice 4.4 - Dunker. - 8 Intimacy
Chang: So you like the silent type? No wonder you get along so well with Turing!
Player: Haha. Dunker almost never talks, and yet he really chewed out Changlu! That was cool!
Choice 5 - I still can't tell them apart.
Chang: Haha, I see. Don't worry, it's perfectly normal.
Conversation continues after choices
Chang: Ah! I hadn't realized we'd been talking for so long!
Chang: I need to take the children back. We'll meet again another day!
Player: Ok.
Scene ends

Choice 2 - March. - 5 Intimacy
Chang: March...
Chang: He stirs up trouble all day long. Even though his name is March, his temper is as fiery as August.
Player: Have you ever thought about raising Changlu in the direction of his interests? For example... being an author?
Player: When I was telling that story, he was listening really attentively. Didn't he also said he loves listening to stories?
Chang: That's right! Why hadn't I thought of that?
Chang: Also, as long as he's heard a story, he can remember it and then tell it to the other children!
Chang: Maybe in the future he'll write a novel that's popular all over the world!
Player: Haha, I'm looking forward to it!
Choice 4 - Actually, I like...
Choice 4.1 - Hippo. - 5 Intimacy
Chang: Haha, Hippo certainly is unique!
Player: Tell me. He can communicate with hippos-does that mean he's got Gyee blood flowing through his body?
Chang: The way you tell it, it's a real possibility! I'll keep it in mind when I go back!
Choice 4.2 - Yanni. - 8 Intimacy
Chang: Yanni is a normal child. However, I feel he has a rather meticulous mind.
Chang: He's very good at understanding others. Otherwise, he wouldn't have such a good relationship with Changlu.
Choice 4.3 - Smog. - 8 Intimacy
Chang: Why Smog?
Player: Maybe you haven't realized that Smog is actually the purest child here. She doesn't seem to have anything heavy weighing on her mind.
Player: However, this is just my instinct.
Chang: Actually, you're right! I had no idea your instincts were so good!

Player: That's right. Children shouldn't smoke.
Choice 4.4 - Dunker. - 8 Intimacy
Chang: So you like the silent type? No wonder you get along so well with Turing!
Player: Haha. Since Dunker never talks, did it blow your mind when she said 'make a pill?'
Chang: What are you afraid of? I don't think they're really going to find the furnace!
Choice 5 - I still can't tell them apart.
Chang: Haha, I see. Don't worry, it's perfectly normal.
