Brian - Captain of White Cape
A stern and rigid man who is loyal to the Sword of Light.
Captain of the White Capes - a Gyee whose ideals pit him against his own kind.
Intro[]
As a Gyee, Brian is having a hard time living in the isolationist, conservative Crossport. He knows he must keep tempers and emotions in check to avoid showing his yellow eyes. He witnessed how his friends bullied a Gyee kid when he was little, and even joined in because he wanted companionship from being an orphan. Deep down inside, however, he knows he's a monster but is afraid others will find out, so on surface he expresses hatred for Gyee, even joining the White Capes to curtail suspicions.
Nonetheless, he still craves true love and companionship. Therefore, he accepted Osmond as a follower and a healer, even though Osmond is an 'evil' Yellow Eyes.

Hart's Intimacy reaches Lv.2 to unlock - Rand: If it were not me, he wouldn't join the White Cape. If it were not him, I wouldn't escape the Crossport. Our fates twisted together, alongside my uncle's life, which made his position in the White Cape... But I truely wish he will climb up and up, to the very top, and then cleanse all these old and rotten rules by his iron hand.
Rand's Intimacy reaches Lv.4 to unlock - Osmond: When we kept distance and watch over each other, I cleaned up the thought that 'it is my brother's shadow that I'm chasing'. We, two individuals who dare not to face oneself, met each other. He understands me, and I... understand him... sort of... He allowed me to follow him, silently, but we both are not willing to change each other's life. I pray Ka to protect him... He's not a evil man that cannot be forgiven.
Osmond's Intimacy reaches Lv.6 to unlock - Shawn: When Grandpa was killed by Gyee, my little world collapsed. 'Listen up, you can count on me. That's the only thing that I can do for you.' Said Papa, who is my entire wolrd there after.
Shawn's Intimacy reaches Lv.8 to unlock - Subordinate in the White Cape: One day, Captain got drunk, murmuring 'White Moonlight' or something… I don't quite understand.
- Superior Officer: If it were not for the bad history he had in the Crossport, this competent guy would have been my superior officer!
- Mysterious Woman: Among the Captains of the White Capes, he's the only one that rejected my offer. Umh! Cool guy with double faces. Only because he's just what I favor, or he wouldn't be breathing until now.

Consolation Letter[]
I know you have a deep bond with Never Isle, and I'm not writing to rope you in. I'd never do that.
You don't belong to this world, so no matter what you are, you will never be my target. But here is a piece of advice, or, a warning: Get away from all the Gyees by your side!
I don't like it whenever they get close to you or you get close to them. It feels bad to see you standing there staring at me whenever I arrest a Gyee. And the worst thing is, you may choose to be my enemy if you don't do as I say.
I will try to control myself and keep away from you. Seriously, I don't want to hurt you...
Bath Drama[]
- ... I'm here to investigate Gyees, not to bathe!
- Never mind. For the sake of our friendship, I'll take my time with it. But after that, just leave me with my work.
- Keep your distance, or you'll be sorry.
Fave Hottie Slogan[]
Not only are they not low-key about this contest, but they're promoting it ostentatiously. Even Shawn is here! (Shows handcuffs) Where is the host?
Intimacy Breakthrough[]
This section contains spoilers for Intimacy Breakthrough scenes.
- Brian: Don't try to bribe me.
- Brian: I won't stand for that.
- Brian: Giving gift to White Capes?
- Brian: How dare you?
- Brian: Alright.
- Brian: I'll force myself to accept it this time.
- Brian: But there's better not be a next time.
- Rand sniffs you up and down.
- Player: Is it something on me?
- Rand: Yes.
- Rand: Is it spearmint?
- Rand: The strongest kind from Crossport, even?
- Player: Your nose is amazing.
- Player: Not sure if it's from Crossport, but I do have spearmint.
- Rand: Aha! You're just the person I'm looking for.
- Rand: I heard Brian wants people to get him spearmint from Crossport.
- Rand: How about you take stuff to him?
- Player: Eh?
- Player: You want me to send stuff to Brian?
- Player: Are you drunk?
- Rand: Ha!
- Rand: We'll drink together after you see him!
- Scene transition
- Brian: Ahem. Ahem...
- Brian: Ahem, ahem...
- Brian: But stay away from me.
- Player: What's wrong? Are you all right?
- Brian: You're dangerous to me right now.
- Brian: Stay away...
- Brian: Cough, cough...
- Player: ???
- Brian: Cough, cough...
- Brian: I didn't want to not talk to you today...
- Player: Double negatives cancel each other out.
- Player: So you wanted to talk to me.
- Player: Then why are you hiding?
- Brian: Ahem. Ahem...
- Brian: I smell spearmint on you and I'm allergic to that! Ahem. Ahem...
- Player: Huh?
- Player: I see!
- Player: So that's what you meant by 'opponent'!
- Brian: Ahem, ahem... What do you mean?
- Player: Nothing...
- Player: I know not a thing.
- Player: I missed you and wanted to see you.
- Player: So I'm carrying spearmint to leave a good impression.
- Player: Didn't figure it would backfire.
- Player: I see you have a weakness too, Captain Brian.
- Brian: ...
- Player: You won't kill me for finding out, will you?
- Brian: Ahem, ahem...
- Brian: It's not your fault I'm allergic to spearmint.
- Brian: You didn't know that I banned spearmint in White Cape.
- Brian: Why should I be mad for something you were not aware of?
- Player: Wow, I didn't think you would be so reasonable.
- Brian: Ahem, ahem...
- Brian: Whatever you're here for, let's talk about it another day.
- Player: Oh, okay.
- Player: I gotta go before the spearmint kills you.
- Brian: Cough, cough...
- Brian: Wait!
- Brian: Cough... Keep my allergy a secret, will you?
- Brian: Cough, cough...
- Player: Yes, my lips are sealed.
- Brian: Thank you!
- Brian: To you,
- Brian: we are villains.
- Brian: To normal folks,
- Brian: we are heroes.
- Brian: ...
- Brian: No one is obligated to be good.
- Brian: And I never for once thought I was.
- Brian: If I tell you one day
- Brian: what I've gone through,
- Brian: You'll understand...
- Brian: Those who criticize how others live
- Brian: are actually the lucky and ignorant ones.
- Brian: Rand's uncle told me once...
- Brian: Humans always put themselves first.'
- Brian: But I never think all people are that way.
- Brian: At least that's not why I joined the Sword of Light!
- Brian: I didn't run away from pain.
- Brian: I just ran from myself.
- Player: My legs are numb from standing here with you all this time.
- Player: What are you doing over at Osmond's?
- Brian: ...
- Shawn leave Osmond's house, sees Brian waiting for him and jogs over.
- Shawn: Dad...
- Brian: Where were you? The sun has set!
- Player: ('So he was waiting for his son to come back.')
- Shawn does not talk back as Brian berates him.
- Shawn pulls something neatly folded from his pocket and hands it to Brian.
- Brian takes and unfolds it to find a medal inside.
- Shawn: I scored first on every test in my Youth Legion class, Dad.
- Shawn's mouth perks and looks at Brian for approval.
- Player: (hushed voice) Hey, he's waiting for you to give him props.
- Brian pats Shawn on the shoulder and pins the medal on him.
- Brian: Go home.
- Shawn is red-faced and extremely disappointed, and finally musters up enough courage to ask...
- Shawn: How many medals do I have to win to get a hug from you?
- Player: ...
- Brian: (solemn) You won't get any other prizes.
- Brian: (solemn) Win at any cost is not what I taught you.
- Brian: (solemn) I already told you it's not good to stand out so much.
- Shawn: But Dad, if I'm too plain and don't make myself known...
- Shawn: They will call me weak and not fit for the Sword of Light.
- Shawn: And they will say...
- Shawn: I'm not fit to be your son and just a burden to you.
- Brian: ...
- Brian: You are my son.
- Brian: What they said won't change how I treat you.
- Shawn: But...
- Shawn: It's because I'm not your son by blood!
- Shawn: So they looked down on me as much as they revered you!
- Shawn: They kept tormenting me to get me to leave you!
- Player: Did those punk kids bully you?
- Shawn: I wouldn't let them, I fought back!
- Player: Well done!
- Shawn: I know you don't like to see me fight and come home hurt, Dad.
- Brian: Is that why you would go see Osmond and get healed after school?
- Shawn: ...
- Shawn: They can't beat me up once I get stronger, Dad.
- Shawn: Nobody will dare to tell me rumors about you and Osmond.
- Childlike embarrassment creeps up on Shawn's proud face.
- Shawn: One day, I'll be the best White Cape.
- Brian: Then what?
- Shawn: Then I'll make everyone obey your words!
- Brian: You will never say anything like this again!
- Brian: If you become the best, it's time for you to leave me!
- Player: Uh, your dad is just saying that out of anger...
- Shawn: ...
- Shawn: Do I have a choice other than becoming strong?
- Shawn: Do you really want me to be a liability to you all my life?
- Brian: ...
- Shawn: I know you don't hate me...
- Shawn: But when you do, I will leave on my own.
- Shawn runs off.
- Brian: Did I say anything wrong?
- Player: If you didn't, then who?
- Player: Look, I found a diary.
- Player: Before it's returned, maybe you should take a peek.
- Scene transition
- Player: Did you see the diary?
- Brian: (nods) ...
- Brian: I already sneaked it into a drawer in his room when he was asleep.
- Brian: We haven't spoken to each other in days.
- Player: Do you still think you were right to scold him that day?
- Brian: (brief pause) It was half right.
- Player: Huh?
- Brian: And half wrong. I'm having remorse.
- Player: There you go.
- Brian: I'm not fit to be a father.
- Brian: I fumbled through growing up without a father.
- Brian: I believe a boy must endure hardships in order to survive.
- Player: But Shawn is not you!
- Player: And you shouldn't mold him in your image!
- Player: He needs protection from his father, not merciless beratement!
- Player: You need to show empathy and praise him, understand him.
- Brian: ...
- Brian: You're right.
- Brian: But I don't know what I can do now to improve our relationship.
- Player: Hey, you can make it simpler if you ease up more on him.
- Player: Get him a present.
- Player: Then offer a few encouraging words.
- Player: Show him you'll willing to make the first move.
- Player: Shawn is a good kid and loves you, he wouldn't hold it against you.
- Brian: All right, I'll do that.
- Brian: But I don't give gifts often.
- Brian: What do you think...
- Brian: A boy of eighteen would be into?
- Player: You were eighteen once too.
- Player: Think, what was your favorite present back then?
- Brian: ...
- Brian: I never got any present when I was young.
- Brian: Never expected any, either.
- Brian: ...
- Player: Oh...
- Player: Then let me suggest a few...
- Player: How about sneakers?
- Player: But I bet your fashion sense is incredibly outdated.
- Brian: Very likely.
- Player: Why don't I just pick for your son.
- Brian: Money is no object. It's about time that kid get something nice.
- Player: No problem, rest assured I'll get a pair he's going to love!
- Brian: (smile) Thank you!
- Brian: (smile) I'll get a matching pair in your size too.
- Brian: (smile) I've also always wanted to get you something nice.
- Brian: And now you're pushing my buttons.
- Brian: I'm warning you.
- Brian: Stay away from me.
- Brian: If you still refuse to listen...
- Brian: You leave me with only one choice...
- Brian: Of letting you get closer to me.
- Brian: You can treat me well.
- Brian: You lose nothing being good to me.
- Brian: But you must know one thing...
- Brian: I'm a bad guy.
- Brian: You will not presume I'm good.
- Brian: Expectations lead to disappointments.
- Brian: Don't try to change me or redeem me.
- Brian: I don't want to see you hurt because of me.
Dates[]
This section contains spoilers for Date scenes.
Choices
- Brian: I heard you wanted to see me... *cough* Never mind if I misunderstood.
- Player: Yes, I wanted to see you.
- Scene transition
- Brian: We really shouldn't interact too much. Meeting with you arouses criticism...
- Brian: Cough. Tell me, why did you want to see me?
- Player: ...
- You criticize the White Capes' offenses on the basis of justice and what is right, and patiently attempt to persuade Brian to leave the White Capes.
- In the middle of your enthusiastic speech, Brian suddenly interrupted you.
- Brian: So this is what you wanted to talk about...
- Player: That's right. What did you think?
- Brian: I misunderstood your intentions.
- Brian: You're a friend of Never Isle, not a friend of mine.
- Brian: I am very grateful you came to see me.
- Brian: It's time for you to go. You should not hang around here for too long.
- Brian: Just pretend like we never met today.
- Player: ...
- You express that you've seen the light and want to turn over a new leaf and join the White Capes...
- Brian took a long time to react.
- Player: Why are you looking at me like that? Are you going to say something?
- Brian: Look me in the eye and say what you just said.
- Player: You're...you're not deaf. Why do you want to hear it again?
- Brian: That's because...
- Brian: It sounded so fake.
- Brian: You want to be a spy. All those things you just said...
- Brian: Maybe if you said those things to a boss of the White Capes who isn't so bright, they would've worked.
- Brian: But you chose the wrong person.
- Brian: I understand you more than you think.
- Player: ...
- Brian: You're a friend of Never Isle, not a friend of mine.
- Brian: I misunderstood your intentions for today's meeting.
- Player: ...
- Brian: For a second, I wanted to believe you.
- Brian: How foolish of me.
- Brian: It's time for you to go. You should not hang around here for too long.
- Player: ...
- Brian: Why are you so curious about my business?
- Player: What, I'm not allowed to care about you?
- Brian: ...
- Brian: Since you're a friend of Never Isle, you cannot be a friend of mine...
- Player: Fine. You don't want to be friends? We're not friends.
- Player: However, it wasn't me who didn't want to be friends. You were the one who set up such strict boundaries.
- Player: You said I'm not your friend. And yet, you don't have your guard up against me. Which shows that you don't regard me as an enemy, either.
- Brian: ...
- Player: Why don't you say something?
- Player: You're looking at me so intensely, but you haven't said a word. You're making me nervous...
- Brian: (Sigh) I'm trying to figure out our relationship and whether it's okay for me to speak now.
- Brian: (Force a smile) But I'm already anticipating a moment when I will tell you what I think.
- Player: So you mean...it's not now?
- Brian: Since you can't wait.
- Brian: I could ask the same question of Rand...
- Brian: I'm curious how he would evaluate the past...
- Brian: He would probably mislead you, unlike me.
- Brian: I need to go back now.
- Player: ...
- Brian: We will not meet again.
- Brian: I hope the next time we see each other, it will be as it is now... That we will not need to draw our weapons against one another.
Tough Love
- Brian: I wanted to see you for myself. If you're not feeling it, just pretend I said nothing.
- Player: Okay.
- Scene transition
- Player: It's very strange. You've been saying 'please' a lot today...
- Player: Is there something on your mind?
- Brian: (Unnaturally) Thank you... For coming with me.
- Brian: There is something of importance to me that I wanted to ask you.
- Brian: I have no experience when it comes to being a father.
- Brian: I just don't know. Most of the time I wonder if I'm treating the child right or not.
- Player: ...
- Brian: Since I was little, I grew up with my mother. I don't have a strong impression of my father.
- Brian: The only clear memory I have of him is him dying before my eyes.
- Player: ...
- Brian: That year, a Gyee who was corrupted by the Shadows was running around Crossport hurting people...
- Brian: My father charged forward to save a child along the road, but was gravely injured himself. He abandoned me and my mother.
- Brian: The environment I grew up in didn't have a father figure, so I don't have any point of reference.
- Player: ...
- Brian: But after your warning, I thought a lot about this perplexing problem of mine, and I had something of a revelation.
- Player: What is it?
- Brian: (Smile) Surviving has become a kind of responsibility. I cannot let that child grow up like I did, without a father... At least not before he's become his own man and is living on his own!
- Player: ...
- Brian: ...
- Brian: You're right.
- Player: But what kind of experience do you need to be a father? Everyone's trembling with fear the first time they become a father.
- Player: Relax. As for how to educate or take care of your son, let nature take its course. Sometimes you just need to let it go...
- Player: After all, your own life is what's most important.
- Brian: I respect your opinions...
- Brian: Taking in and raising this child was a split-second decision.
- Brian: But having made that decision, I can no longer merely consider myself...
- Brian: However, thank you for your thoughts.
- Brian: If what he's missing is just happiness, I can spoil him. But I'm worried that will just harm him down the road.
- Brian: So I always 'confiscate' the things that make him happy.
- Brian: Lately, I've started to waver.
- Brian: Facing this child with a strict face - is that really the best thing for his growth?
- Player: Not necessarily.
- Player: But that's not to say that being strict is totally bad.
- Player: You need to find your own way of educating him.
- Player: I can't bear the responsibility for giving you ideas...
- Player: But what I can tell you is...
- Player: However a father and son interact, you cannot forget to make a sufficiently loving connection with him.
- Brian: ...
- Brian: (Laugh) You've already given me a good idea.
- Brian: Thanks.
The Letter
- Brian: Would you deliver a letter to Crossport for me?
- Player: Yes.
- Scene transition
- Player: Isn't Crossport your hometown? If you're familiar with it, why do you need me to deliver a letter?
- Brian: The letter is for Rand's family.
- Brian: It would be more appropriate for you to deliver it than me or anyone else belonging to the White Capes.
- Player: I see... Anyway, what's the letter about?
- Brian: No comment. All I can tell you is, it isn't a danger to anyone, if that's what you're worried about.
- Player: Oh, then okay.
- Player: However, I'm not familiar with Crossport. It's also where the White Capes headquarters are. Am I going to be in danger?
- Brian: I'll give you a pass. Not only will nobody stop you, but there will also be someone there to take you to Rand's home.
- Player: That's very considerate of you.
- Player: Before I go, I'd like to ask, what kind of place is Crossport? I've always been really curious about it.
- Brian: (Furrow brow) ...Why are you interested in a place like that?
- Brian: For decades, Crossport's motto has been 'Order and Stability'.
- Brian: Though I haven't been back in a while, I imagine that much hasn't changed.
- Brian: An old-fashioned and stale city that will eventually rot away.
- Player: Ah? I see. So why do people still live in Crossport?
- Brian: The people who live there are stuck in their ways. Most of them aren't willing to leave.
- Brian: And the kind of people who leave, leave for two reasons.
- Brian: Some people can't let go of the past, but can't go back. Some can go back, but don't want to.
- Player: Then let me guess - are you someone who looks forward or who looks back?
- Brian: ...
- Brian: I'm surprised.
- Brian: You guessed right.
- Player: ...
- Player: But I'd like to know why you don't have a single nice thing to say about Crossport, but you still want to go back?
- Brian: (Evasive) Shouldn't you put the emphasis on 'I can't go back, so can't send a letter'?
- Player: ...
- Brian: My story isn't a happy one.
- Brian: When you get the chance you should tell me how you feel about your hometown.
- Brian: I'm very interested in you.
- Brian: It's getting late. You should get going.
- Brian: ...
- Brian: You're not wrong.
- Brian: Sometimes to deal with homesickness, we lie to ourselves.
- Player: So...actually, I did guess wrong.
- Player: You don't have a single nice thing to say about Crossport, but you want to go back?
- Brian: (Evasive) Shouldn't you put the emphasis on 'I can't go back, so can't send a letter'?
- Player: ...
- Brian: My story isn't a happy one.
- Brian: When you get the chance you should tell me how you feel about your hometown.
- Brian: I'm very interested in you.
- Brian: It's getting late. You should get going.
- Brian: Humph. So you asked me about Crossport because you're concerned about Rand.
- Player: ...
- Brian: However, you're wrong.
- Brian: The truth is just the opposite.
- Brian: Whether Rand would admit it or not.
- Player: ...
- Brian: What's more.
- Brian: Between what I say and he says.
- Brian: You can only believe one of us.
- Brian: ...
- Brian: Though neither of us is lying.
- Player: ...
- Brian: When you get the chance you should tell me how you feel about your hometown.
- Brian: I'm very interested in you.
- Brian: It's getting late. You should get going.
